Pirate Crews (AKA One Piece Mons)

Premise: each mon on your team has a specific role in the "crew" based on its team slot

Slot 1:
Luffy/Captain slot. this mon's Ability becomes Long Reach, also if this mon faints, you automatically lose the battle
Slot 2: Zolo/Swordsman slot. This mon's Ability becomes Sharpness, and it gains access to every move boosted by said ability
Slot 3: Nami/Navigator slot. This mon's Ability becomes Infiltrator, and it removes all Hazards from the field upon entering battle while also taking no damage from them
Slot 4: Usopp/Shooter slot. This mon's Ability becomes Mega Launcher, and it gains access to every move boosted by said Ability
Slot 5: Sanji/Cook slot. This mon's Ability becomes Well-Baked Body, and it has access to every fire-type move
Slot 6: Chopper/Doctor slot. This mon's Ability becomes Triage, and it's Healing moves can be used on any mon in your party while it is in battle, but no other mon on your team can run any Healing moves.

Potential Threats/Bans
Each slot would likely need its own bans/restrictions, as some mons may be better suited for a specific role/slot

Questions for the Community

What mons do you think would be best suited to each Pirate Crew role?

Is the auto-loss from the Captain fainting a bit too much?
Without the premise being able to be summarized in one sentence, this falls under the category of Pet Mods. Your premises must be simple, easy to understand, and concise.

This could be a pretty interesting Solo Mod tho.

I see in the (other) rejected ideas, "Huge Stat: All Pokemon gets a clone of Huge Power that doubles their lowest stat."

I had a similar idea to this so I'm wondering why this is rejected.

Guilty Conscience

Premise:
If a Pokemon faints the opposing Pokemon via attacking, that attacking Pokemon faints as well unless the other side is out of mons (to put this another way, there's a continuous Destiny Bond effect in play throughout the battle).

Potential Threats/Bans: hard to know at this point, seeing as this is a rather unique OM idea. Rocky Helmet and Multi-Hit moves will probably need to go.

Questions For The Community:

Could OHKO moves possibly be allowed in this OM?

Would it be feasible to ban status moves that poison or burn to make it harder to faint the foe without attacking them?

I feel like this OM will be quite annoying to play. Everything just cancels out and it ends up in a 1v1. Your last pokemon versus their last pokemon. Just make sure your opponent sacks everything that you struggle against. Win the 1v1 with your last pokemon. Heck, make all your pokemon level 1s and force the opponent to kill their own pokemon and just have something strong like Chien-Pao in the back which can win a lot of 1v1s.

Also I want to mention that you not knowing what is good and what isn’t is a strong indication of a not well thought out meta. Respect the one week cooldown between ideas and try to theorize what will get buffed and nerfed. trust me i’ve made this mistake before

Avalugg here normally has stats to fit a physical wall (95 / 117 / 184 / 44 / 46 / 26), but in this metagame Avalugg would gain a big boost to it's speed with it becoming 184 as it's defense is it's highest stat at 184 making it the higehst def and speed pokemon in the game pre home release.
Another Example:

Max investment 100 base Attack+Huge Power is equivalent to 250 base Attack. Yay.
:breloom:130/130/80/130/130/70
Breloom gets a ton of bulk to play around with for bulky sets and even just tanking a hit or two for offensive sets
:dragapult:88/120/142/100/142/142
Dragapult, but it runs circles around you AND is super bulky? How are you ever supposed to stop this from setting up a Dragon Dance and sweeping?

Kingambit but it go zoom

The washing machine is already a great pivot, and now it has over doubled HP? Jeez.

The usual walling that Umbreon does, but now it’s not reliant on Foul Play for direct damage!

I think it would be better if it didn't change multiple stats and instead was just the first lowest Stat, should be more balanced like that.
Reminds me of stats switch but that format doesn't exist anymore so it wouldn't be a issue.

I personally like the idea of multiple stats becoming one big stat, though at the same time I see reason for the first stat only being increased as it would definitely be a lot more unbalanced.

All of the Ubers Pokemon look very good and would definitely be banned. Bulky Iron Bundle or Chi-Yu would be very annoying to deal with.

Ironically this may be the one meta where unbanning Annihilape might be a safe-ish choice. Annihilape falls into the archetype of "Physical attackers who don't need Special Attack" meaning that its lowest stat is its Special Attack, and is has very few moves to use with that stat. Houndstone is in a similar boat. Both of these Pokemon may still prove to be oppresive, but considering they get so little while other Pokemon get so much, it could be interesting to see.

It will be strange to see usually passive Pokemon become active threats. Some Pokemon with high HP will appreciate that getting passed to their mediocre stats. Alomomola gets 165 Special Attack. Drifblim gets 150 Defense, meaning any set it runs can still survive several strong physical hits. Copperajah gets 125 Speed, finally allowing it to outspeed a lot of previously faster Pokemon and hit them with its strong Sheer force-boosted moves.

This could absolutely be interesting to see in action. A lot of lower-tier Pokemon are limited by their speed being too slow, or their bulk being mediocre, or having coverage moves that could only use a terrible attacking stat. I definitely see where Kaen is coming from regarding the "only one stat should be boosted". For example, while not currently legal in the game, a Pokemon like Naganadel would absolutely be broken in this meta if all of its stats went from 73 to 127 (73/73/73/127/73/121 -> 127/127/127/127/127/121), but if just its HP increased it could be balanced. More than that, look at the Espathra that you use in your example, and you can see why that much of an increase to its all-around bulk could be problematic.

I think a lot fewer Pokemon would have to be kept on a watchlist if only one of their stats increased instead of all of them. That definitely will result in some Pokemon (like Espathra or Great Tusk seen above) become less viable because their first stat to be increased would be an attacking stat instead of a defensive one. However, that is just a realistic consequence of a meta sometimes, and might result in being better for it.

This OM is pretty cool. It really reinvents a lot of pokemon and it does remind me of Stat Switch like Kaensoul mentioned.

I agree with the others, limiting the the changed stat to be only one, based on the ev spreads and stuff like Protosynthesis/Quark Drive. This makes balancing much easier and makes the banlist much smaller. Most people already said what I pretty much wanted to say, so nothing more to add.

Iron Hands boutta go crazyy with that 154 Spe.

This might actually seem REALLY funny for an OM, and a lot of other people think it's good too, so here are some theorymons:

:gengar:
130/65/130/130/75/100
Want a hella bulky Gengar? Now you can! It has 130/130/75 bulk, but even if its special bulk isn't much, you should definitely be careful around that physical bulk.
:cetitan:
170/113/65/170/55/73
Oops, I gave the snow titan 170 SpA... hey, it only has very few special moves, and only 73 speed, so it can't be THAT bad... right?
:crabominable:
97/132/77/62/67/132
Oh boy, this is definitely the next Chien-Pao. Less fast by 3 points, but it has Iron Fist and 132 attack... yeesh.
:mismagius:
105/105/105/105/105/105
Since Flutter Mane is banned, let's get the elephant out of the room. Basically has Mew stats but with +5 to all stats too. And no, don't mention Carbink please ;(
:dugtrio: :wugtrio:
120/100/50/50/70/120
Dugtrio and Wugtrio with usable HP stats?! Hell yeah, now Dugtrio can reliably trap things without becoming fodder and Wugtrio can actually be a good fast attacker!... Wait, Arena Trap is banned. Ah well, at least we have sand! Speaking of which...
:tyranitar:
100/134/110/95/110/134
Another physical mon that actually has reliable speed AND can set weather. Cores with this and other sand abusers (like Dugtrio as I mentioned before) could be bonkers.

From what it seems like it would probably be a good idea to submit this when I can, so I have a question for those who want to answer, would it be better if in the context of having multiple lowest stats if it was the first stat in line or an idea from prunyy if it was based on which was higher (probably requiring you put at least 4 evs into a lowest stats to change it in battle)

I think it'd be more fun to just raise all of them, but if it has to be only one, just raise the first one. "Raise the base stat of the stat with the lowest base stat and highest actual stat to match the highest base stat" is extremely clunky.

A huge complaint I have about this is that this would be very, VERY tedious to code. I can definitely see coders looking at this and going "wtf". Another complaint I have is that this is basically Pokebilities, Shared Power or Chimera 1v1 with a bunch of other complicated steps, and I don't see it being approved by moderators unless you can actually make it distinct from the other "here, share this with your team" OMs. I could definitely be wrong, but this feels really weird for good reasons.

You're not sharing anything with your team; the two Pokemon that are currently on the field share with each other.

Yeah when you put it like that it'll probably be better to just do the first one, thank you

an OM that'd work like PiC, items, abilities and moves are shared by all mons on the field. Singles.

An OM that would just be dumb, Sticky Barb might be used

Banlist:
Black Sludge, Toxic Orb, Slaking, Slakoth?
I feel like there are many ideas that are the form of “you gain/choose something from your opponent” and it will be down to making it un-pet-moddy as possible and without glaring balancing problems.

This one is a nice twist on the OM format I mentioned above. You sort of have to “hyper”-improof your mons because they can use the moves and items that you have. Eviolite could also be interesting because your opponent probably doesn’t gain the benefits. Other pokemon specific items could also give you an upper hand.

All of these OMs can be quite interesting, but one common occurring theme I am noticing is that “is it codable?” I don’t know how to code too much, so I can’t say for sure.

Ignite
This meta is based on Ou so follows relevant bans.
Premise: You have to use explosion and self-destruct as attacking options while using status/sandstorm to inflict damage to opposing pokemon.
Potential bans: Pokemon that can't easily worn down by status either by being immune or being immune from weather condition damage. Leech Seed
Question: Would having to have a corrosion ability user to be on your team just to toxic steel types be too much to get this approved?
Also with the few explosion/self-destruct users in the current meta will this make it too hard to win?
Banlist:
All forms of recovery moves
Heal Bell.
Evasion moves.
Attacking moves except explosion and self-destruct.
Defence boosting moves e.g. Iron Defence, Curse.
Tera ghost is banned.
Substitute
Item bans:
Focus Sash
Defence boost berry's
Purifying Salt

This seems like an awfully restrictive version of Pacifistmons. The premise doesn’t quite make sense and the bans feel arbitrary.
