OU mega alakazam

Alakazam @ Alakazite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball / Hidden Power Ice / Calm Mind
- Recover

Everyone's favorite spoonmaster is a very potent threat in OU right now, and for a good reason! Its high power and colorful coverage allow it to threaten a variety of balance and bulky offense teams, most notably those that have Heatran as their main Psychic-type check. With Trace as its post-Mega ability, Mega Alakazam can copy Flash Fire to wall and take down Heatran, provided its running Recover. Trace also gives Mega Alakazam a remarkable niche against a wide variety of archetypes, especially rain-oriented teams, as it can trace Swift Swim, and bulkier balance teams, as it can trace Regenerator from the likes of Toxapex, Tornadus-T, and Tangrowth. It can't break these teams on its own, though, so another wallbreaker is usually a great partner. Tapu Lele is not only a fierce wallbreaker that handles Chansey, but it also boosts Mega Alakazam's moves and shields it against priority with Psychic Terrain. Magnezone traps Steel-types neutral to Fighting, which give Mega Alakazam some trouble.

Mega Alakazam displayed great success in the World Cup of Pokemon. Here's a quarterfinal match between suapah and Quaze that greatly displays Mega Alakazam's power:

-make it modest and slash hp ice after shadow ball
-explain why zam beats heatran cause I always get asked this fsr and I wouldnt expect more from the facebook audience
-instead of mentioning fire types in the very last sentence Id mention zone cause zam+zone is everywhere and is arguably one of its better partners

good job all around 1/1

Everyone's favorite spoonmaster is now featured on Set Spotlights,(RC) Mega Alakazam is a very potent threat in OU right now,(AC) (idk the start of this was just too weird. It's not that I don't like the style, it's just that you don't really need to say in the set spotlight that the Pokemon being described is in fact being described in a set spotlight now. I changed it to something like this since ik zam is on the rise but you can shift the wording a bit to reflect it being featured "for good reason") and for a good reason! Its high power and colorful coverage allow it to threaten a variety of balance and bulky offense teams, most notably those that have Heatran as their main Psychic-type check. With Trace as its post-Mega ability, Mega Alakazam can copy Flash Fire to wall and take down Heatran,(AC) provided its running Recover. Trace also gives it Mega Alakazam a remarkable niche against a wide variety of archetypes, most notably especially (repetition with the other one) rain-oriented teams, as it can trace Swift Swim, and fat bulkier balance teams,(AC) as it can trace Regenerator from the likes of Toxapex, Tornadus-T, and Tangrowth. It can't break these teams on its own,(AC) though, so another wallbreaker is usually a great partner,(RC).(period) Tapu Lele is not only a fierce wallbreaker that handles Chansey, but it also boosts Mega Alakazam's moves and shields it against priority with Psychic Terrain. Mega Alakazam (uuuuh...) traps Steel-types neutral to Fighting, who which give Mega Alakazam some trouble.
