This thread will be the reference point for any statement that is an interpretation of something from the Handbook or as a flat out ruling on how any interaction works. These statements are to be taken as final rulings unless heavily contested and changed.

08/20/2018: Actions spent on Cooldown do not count as having acted for the sake of Payback.
08/20/2018: Health Gain from Draining Moves (e.g. Drain Punch) is always rounded down, and is rounded when the move is used.

12/24/2018: A Pokemon does not faint from using Endure if they have exactly enough energy to pay the move's cost (e.g. A Dragonite has 15 EN, Endure will resolve successfully as the move costs 15 EN.). The fainting occurs at the end of the round instead, unless the user of Endure has managed to get their energy back above 0.
12/24/2018: [Clarity] The use of chance clauses to cover types (single, not dual), is covered through the anti-pedant clause, transforming the short-form clause using an OR statement or a single type into the complex monstrosity that is the use of "NOT AND" statements appending every type except what was named. This meets the qualification that all clauses must narrow the scope of the substitution and this clarification is just to make it clear that it is legal to shorten the substitution for readability.
12/24/2018: Using chance clauses in order to check for types is entirely legal. It can only be used in checking for single-types, and unnamed types cannot be present in the subject's typing. For example, if the substitution says "IF Fairy- or Ice-typed," this can trigger on Slurpuff, Vanilluxe, or Ninetales-A but cannot trigger on a Pokemon such as Mawile, at least, not without some way to change it's typing.

06/30/2019: Status-Class moves do not deal damage under any circumstance, regardless of how the move may affect a Pokemon's HP.
06/30/2019: Wimp Out and Emergency Exit both resolve at the Start of Action, same tier as RageCandyBar

08/24/2019: The consecutive move use EN penalty applied to a Damaging Evasive Move is split evenly between the evasive and attack phases.
08/24/2019: Moves with formulaic costs, such as Protect and Detect but not limited to those moves, pay their base cost when initially using the move - such as Protect's 7 EN - and the formulaic part when the condition is met (e.g. release damage for Bide, block damage for Protect)
08/28/2019: Protect and other Protective Moves used in combinations never affects Pokemon other than the user. The remainder of the effects of the combination do apply to their usual number of targets though. (Updated on 10/11/2021 for clarity, no functional change)
08/31/2019: [Clarity] Focus Band is negated by Frisk.

02/06/2020: In all cases where HP would be a non-whole number, it rounds down immediately. The most obvious case of this currently is Pain Split, in the case of the average being X.5, both HP values will just round down to X in that calculation.

03/24/2020: Using a Status Move in a Same-Move Combination is using the move twice, just on the same action. This means that the effects of the move, if possible, are applied twice. For example, Taunt + Taunt is no different than Taunt because using a status move twice does not add to or even refresh its effect's duration. Helping Hand + Helping Hand would as such double the BAP of the affected attack twice, or Spikes + Spikes would lay 2 layers of Spikes. As a result of this, the codifications regarding stat changes and related wording on Same-Move Combinations will be adjusted to note that this is supposed to apply only to Damaging Moves to prevent overlap with this change.

11/02/2021: Life Orb's recoil effect (and other effects like it) trigger after the holder's move resolves. The most pertinent example of this being that Fling will prevent you from taking damage if used to throw a Life Orb.

1/6/2022: In cases of mathematical ambiguity, mathematical operations follow the PEMDAS order of operations (multiplication and division before addition and subtraction) unless otherwise specified.
