[SET]
name: Magic Beam
Lucario @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty/Mild
- Steel Beam
- Close Combat
- Nasty Plot
- Psychic

[SET COMMENTS]
Paragraph 1:
- role that the Pokemon plays
Lucario is a strong wallbreaker that threatens to 2HKO many defensive metagame staples after Stealth Rock chip with its powerful STAB moves and coverage boosted by a recoil-less Life Orb. However, it can be very prediction reliant and can be hard to get in safely.
opposing offensive mons yeeting it when slow pivoted in/revenging
competition with fellow fighters/other breakers in general
Mild or Hasty gives Lucario a chance to live Modeset Zapdos Thunder and guarantees it living a +1 Tapu Lele Draining Kiss while Rash or Naive guarantees it living a +2 Life Orb Tapu Bulu Horn Leech.

- coverage moves that affect its role
Psychic prevents Lucario from being walled by Toxapex, while Stone Edge guarantees a 2HKO on Zapdos and OHKO on Talonflame and Moltres. A Hasty nature with maximum Speed investment allows Lucario to outspeed and OHKO many Pokemon that would otherwise outspeed and OHKO it, such as Tapu Lele or Moltres. Alternatively, a Mild nature this comes at the cost of being walled by Corviknight and missing out on favorable OHKO rolls versus offensive Pokemon such as Scarf Landorus-T, Latios, and Zapdos-Galar.
ok maybe regenscarf lando isn't exactly an offensive mon
- EV spread in one sentence or less

Paragraph 2:
- brief example of teammates that benefit from the Pokemon's presence

- brief example of foes that the Pokemon is vulnerable to + teammates to help cover them
Every single offensive Pokemon faster than it with the exception of Magic Guard Tapu Koko and No Guard Genesec can threaten an OHKO on Lucario, especially if they’re healthy enough to live a Vacuum Wave. As such, Lucario appreciates a sturdy defensive core that can handle the metagame threats to support its wallbreaking efforts. Galvanize Kommo-o can lure in and remove Toxapex, zap provides entry and chips and baits everything not called eq from spdef chomp.
Lucario appreciates being brought in on passive Pokemon ... fight weaks ... pivots ....

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
**Other Options**
=============

Moving 100 EVs from Speed to Attack allows Lucario to significantly improve Close Combat rolls versus Defensive Heatran, Jirachi, and Specially Defensive Ferrothorn while still outspeeding Modest Heatran. Nasty Plot can be used while the opponent attempts to pivot around Lucario to decrease the OHKO threshold for revenge killers when using Vacuum Wave, and prevent it from being walled by Specially Defensive Corviknight, but Lucario generally appreciates one of its other options. minor bulu calc with -spdef. Finally, Vacuum Wave can be used to finish off faster pokemon that are frail or weak to fighting like Barraskewda or Zarude.

**Checks and Counters**
===================
Bulky Steel-types: Heatran, Ferrothorn, Chansey, and Blissey can all be pivoted in on a predicted Steel Beam and bait out a Close Combat as they switch out into a Fighting resist that threatens Lucario like Latios or Tapu Lele. Obviously, the special walls must be wary of getting slammed by Close Combat on switchin, and vice versa for the Fight resists. Notably, RegenVest Jirachi is not as threatened by Close Combat as the aforementioned Pokemon, meaning it can slow pivot out most of the time and bring in teammates safely.

Specially Defensive Pokemon: Similarly, Blissey and Chansey... might combine this and bulky steel again

Bulky Water-types: Swampert is not 2HKOed by any of Lucario’s moves and can OHKO it with Earthquake or maintain momentum with Flip Turn. Doublade is very unlikely to be 2HKOed by Steel Beam and can OHKO Lucario using Close Combat. Toxapex walls non-Psychic Lucario and cripples it by knocking off its Life Orb as well as preventing setup with Prankster Haze. fini pivots in pivots out

Flying-types that resist Steel
Notably spdef corv when npless

Fat and fast things that live 1 like regen chomp

Item Removal: Lucario relies heavily on its Life Orb to OHKO or 2HKO many targets

Hey, sorry this wasn't caught until you already wrote some content, but qc would prefer if you wrote about a more standardized Lucario set instead (reasonings are listed as well):

Lucario @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty/Mild
- Steel Beam
- Close Combat
- Nasty Plot
- Psychic

- Hasty should be the primary nature since it actually lets you outspeed vast majority of Tapu Lele (which are modest) so you can kill them, also lets you snipe genesect since setup gene doesn't tend to run +speed
- Stone Edge shouldn't be listed as a primary move (at worst, maybe you can slash it in but honestly wouldn't recommend) bc while it does let you score a neat 2HKO on Zapdos, giving up the breaking power of +2 steel beam kind of diminishes the purpose of the set (and at that point, you can just run stone edge MGLO cobalion and get almost the same calcs on zap and tflame while being faster)
- Vacuum Wave is pretty much too weak to be noteworthy unless it's NP Lucario anyway, so I wouldn't bother with that unless you're maybe slashing it next to psychic (but then pex matchup is tuff)
- Sub should be taken out completely because Lucario has neither the speed nor really the bulk to be subbing in front of things; it's flowchart is pretty much either click an attack or nasty plot -> click an attack
