Project Lure That Threat: LC Edition: Week 7 - Foongus

Horsea @ Scope Lens
Ability: Sniper
Level: 5
EVs: 76 HP / 36 Def / 200 SpA / 196 Spe
Timid Nature
- Focus Energy
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass] / Substitute

200 SpA Sniper Horsea Ice Beam vs. 124 HP / 160 SpD Eviolite Foongus on a critical hit: 24-30 (96 - 120%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Focus Energy + Scope Lens : 100% criting, 0% minding.
This thing lures Rain Dance Horsea. Focus some brony's energy and then blast the mushroom with ibeam. I prefer use Horsea because Remoraid has Fire Blast almost every time, so imo this is not a real lure. And Horsea is cuter.

I get what you're going for, but this isn't really a lure so much as it is exploiting an opponent's lack of knowledge of an somewhat obscure mon. The standard LO rain sweeper 2HKOs with Ice Beam as well, and even has an extremely good chance to 2HKO after rocks with Hydro Pump and Ice Beam.

200+ SpA Life Orb Horsea Ice Beam vs. 124 HP / 160 SpD Eviolite Foongus: 13-18 (52 - 72%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
(13, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 18)
200+ SpA Life Orb Horsea Hydro Pump vs. 124 HP / 160 SpD Eviolite Foongus: 6-8 (24 - 32%) -- 99.6% chance to 4HKO
(6, 6, 6, 6, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8)

I'm not saying this doesn't do the job, just that it's not so much a direct lure for foongus as it is for players who don't calc stuff.

You totally right. I might have considered LO in the calcs, iidk why i forgotten. anw i'm still thinking that Critical Horsea is interesting bc you can't set the rain dance on switch. I maybe will change, anyway it is a good lesson for me haha, thanks guy !

BEHOLD!!!!
The almighty Barboach!

Barboach @ Power Herb
Ability: Anticipation
Level: 5
EVs: 44 Atk / 212 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Future Sight
- Dragon Dance
- Blizzard
- Earthquake

(P.S. Damage calc was not working, sorry bout that)

Future sight absolutely kills Foongus. I think. This Barboach is meh.

EDIT:
Since I just found out that power herb does not affect an attack from the future, here is a new set:

Squirtle @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Ice Beam
- Aura Sphere
- Water Pledge

It works?
Calcs:
252 SpA Squirtle Ice Beam vs. 124 HP / 160 SpD Eviolite Foongus: 1220-1436 (4880 - 5744%) -- guaranteed OHKO

EDIT #2:

Since I was using a level 100 little squirt for my calcs, here is something more accurate.

Shellder @ Focus Sash
Ability: Skill Link
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 196 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Icicle Spear
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Hydro Pump
- Shell Smash

236+ Atk Shellder Icicle Spear (5 hits) vs. 124 HP / 160+ Def Eviolite Foongus: 20-30 (80 - 120%) -- approx. 6.3% chance to OHKO
Thats without Shelly Smashy.
+2 236+ Atk Shellder Icicle Spear (5 hits) vs. 124 HP / 160+ Def Eviolite Foongus: 40-50 (160 - 200%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Thats with it.
Some extra support with the team would help it out, cause using Shell Smash would give Foongus a turn to get Shellder, even with a temptation to drain.
Still fairly meh, I was tempted to use Wailord + Avalanche but.... Meh.

power herb doesn't affect future sight

Timburr @ Eviolite/Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
Level: 5
EVs: 76 HP / 116 Atk / 156 Def / 156 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Ice Punch
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
While this does work as a lure, Guts is just too handy too forgo (Bulk up is waaaay over-rated). However, even without Sheer Force it still does 80% minimum. That said, Sheer Force Ice Punch also OH'KO's some bulkier Fletchlings (and probably other birds.) I sort-of endorse this.

EDIT: Actually, I fully endorse this. Bulk Up just doesn't do much in a lot of games, whereas Ice Punch is surprisingly handy against some things.

You appear to be using a Level 100 Squirtle in your calculations. These are the results from Level 5.:

252 SpA Squirtle Ice Beam vs. 124 HP / 160 SpD Eviolite Foongus: 10-12 (40 - 48%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
(10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 12)

Sorry, but that set doesn't work. It can't 2hko and is cleanly ohko'd by Foonguss.

Edit: I can post a lure as well if this is just complete spam without it.

Here's a little something I saw on the low ladder thought up.

Mienfoo @ Normal Gem
Ability: Regenerator
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 36 SpD / 236 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- Acrobatics

236 Atk Normal Gem Mienfoo Fake Out vs. 124 HP / 160+ Def Eviolite Foongus: 4-5 (16 - 20%) -- possible 5HKO

236 Atk Mienfoo Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 124 HP / 160+ Def Eviolite Foongus: 14-18 (56 - 72%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

236 Atk Mienfoo Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 124 HP / 160+ Def Eviolite Foongus: 6-8 (24 - 32%) -- 99.9% chance to 4HKO

236 Atk Mienfoo Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 124 HP / 160+ Def Foongus: 22-26 (88 - 104%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

It kinds works with a bit of prediction. More importantly, this set allows it to beat Timburr in a lead 1V1. Might edit it later, but I need to go :P

Also, where do you get the GIF's of Pokemon people put at the top? Do you just get the from Google or is there a list somewhere?

Well, this set is almost certainly garbage, but let's give it a go

Togepi @ Eviolite
Level: 5
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 236 HP / 76 Def / 116 SpA / 36 Spe
Bold Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Dazzling Gleam
- Fire Blast
- Wish / Baton Pass

Togepi has no business being around Foongus, taking upwards of 60% from Sludge Bomb and being unable to even scratch it in return. Also, I know this particular Foongus doesn't carry Clear Smog, but it's a fairly common move that stomps Togepi's main niche in Baton Passing boosts. However, the combination of NP+Fire Blast allows Togepi to destroy common Steel-type switch-ins like nobody's business. Oh and Foongus too, btw. 80% min whaaaat?

+2 116 SpA Togepi Fire Blast vs. 124 HP / 160 SpD Eviolite Foongus: 20-24 (80 - 96%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
If you add rocks: +2 116 SpA Togepi Fire Blast vs. 124 HP / 160 SpD Eviolite Foongus: 20-24 (80 - 96%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Also, this thing can put in work against more than just Foongus, destroying Ferroseed and Pawniard ._.

156 Atk Pawniard Iron Head vs. 236 HP / 76+ Def Eviolite Togepi: 14-18 (60.8 - 78.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 116 SpA Togepi Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 116 SpD Eviolite Pawniard: 22-26 (104.7 - 123.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Wish is there in case you wanna be an inferior Spritzee with 4 less HP. Baton Pass if NP+BP is your thing. 36 Speed EVs outspeed 8 Speed Foongus, Serene Grace for that cool 40% burn chance

There isn't anything particularly common left to viably lure with non-analysis sets. The intention was to create viable lures that were mildly unspecific or had utility outside of luring this singular threat. If enough interest is had in the project (probably pm me on ps!, skype, or here instead of clogging the thread) then I'll continue it with things that are uncommon and require more specific lures (Houndour, Fletchling, Archen, maybe Spritzee, maybe Porygon, etc).
