Throwing down a challenge!

1v1 Singles
2 Chills
DQ time: 2 Days
Arena: Middle of a city street. There's a couple of parked cars on the side of the road but a giant 20 foot diameter ring has been established by the watching public. The temperature is pretty hot, making the asphalt almost unbearable to stand on due to the heat rising from it. The buildings to the side of the road have lots of low ledges, great for hanging on to and whatnot.
I accept your challenge.
Switch = KO
One Ability
No Items

Spoink (*) [Cesternino] (M)
Nature: Modest (+Special Attack, -Attack)

Type: Psychic
Psychic: Psychic STAB; less susceptible to blinding, more susceptible to sound-based assaults as far as locking on with Psychic attacks, can lift and throw opponents with Psychic attacks regardless of weight difference, Disable, Focus Blast and Recover have Energy Cost reduced by one (1). Psychic-type attacks are not godlike and cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.

To Will the ref I present Will the Pokemon. Powers is his name. WILL POWERS.

Onix [Will Powers] (M)
Nature: Brave
Ability: Sturdy

Alright Will Powers, this area conveniently seems not to have any grass, so it should be to your advantage.

Begin with Sandstorm, then send the bouncy Spoink into the upright, locked position with Rock Tomb. Finish with an Earthquake.

Taunt if Spoink tries Confuse Ray.

Sandstorm ~ Rock Tomb ~ Earthquake

Sub: Taunt if Spoink tries Confuse Ray.

OK Cesternino, you got this shit. Onix ain't much tougher than crazy Matt von Ertfelda!

Forget the sandstorm whipping up, you can overpower Onix easily! Calm your Mind and use Psybeam to attack Onix before he starts getting in Rock Tomb! After that, use Confuse Ray to confuse Onix and try to avoid getting inflamed by the Taunt!

Calm Mind -> Psybeam -> Confuse Ray

Hello there everyone, I'm Arthur King with the Channel 13 Poke-News. We're following a breaking story occurring in the heart of downtown, as a man identifying himself only as "Life Admiral" has issued a challenge against local celebrity Deck Knight, and has backed that challenge up by sending out his Spoink. Shortly after that, Deck Knight answered the challenge, summoning his own Onix to attempt to put this altercation to an end. Let's cut to Jeff Mansfield, who's there at the scene. Jeff?

<long pause>

Hi, thanks Arthur. The battle between these two is about to begin, and it looks like Spoink has closed its eyes and begun to Calm Mind- the pearl on top of its head has begun to glow. However, it looks like Onix has other ideas in mind as... wait, what the hell is that? Folks, it looks like Onix has turned this place into a dust bowl! Grit and sand is flying everywhere, and it's tough to make out what's going on. Only Onix is getting through this unscathed, while Spoink and the entire crowd of onlookers struggles to stay standing in this buffeting sand.

Spoink looks like he's having none of this, as it seems that a beam of psychic energy has started to pulse out of the pearl on Spoink's head, striking Onix directly in the face. However, Onix shakes it off, retaliating by grabbing any nearby rocks and hurling them directly at Spoink. Unfortunately for the little pig, the rocks are perfectly on target, bowling it over, critically hitting it, and dazing it heavily. It's trying as hard as it can to get back to its senses, and its trainer is yelling at it to use Confuse Ray... but oh! The now-confident Onix is now reared up, and it looks like it's Taunting the poor Spoink. Too full of rage to follow its trainer's command, the Confuse Ray fizzles and pops before it reaches its intended target.

<cuts back to Arthur>

Thanks Jeff. Anyway, it looks like there's a break in the action, but we'll be right back after a message from our Sponsors. Remeber, get all your equipment from OakTech! Because you can't catch 'em all if you don't have the balls!

Eh... C'mon Cesternino! Or are you really going to let Onix get away with the shit that Miss Morasca pulled?

Start aiming Psybeams and Psywaves at Onix's head! If he uses Rock Tomb or Earthquake, use Zen Headbutt to avoid getting hit (aim for Onix too)! And if he throws anything at you, aim the Psybeams/Psywaves to try to knock it back at him!

Psybeam -> Psywave -> Psybeam, Zen Headbutt if Onix uses Rock Tomb/Earthquake

Let's mess with Cesternino's head a bit. Begin with an earsplitting Screech. I'd like to see him try Psychic attacks when he can't even hear himself think. Follow-up with a Rock Tomb. Cesternino's not likely to have recovered from his headache yet anyway and we need to keep your speed advantage. Conclude with another disorienting Screech.

Screech ~ Rock Tomb ~ Screech

Screech (-2 def, 6 energy), Psybeam (weakened by sound-induced headache, 8 damage, 5 energy)

Sandstorm dealt 6 damage to Spoink, but subsided at the end of the turn.

This is Jeff Mansfield, and we're back with the Channel 13 Pokene--

<SCREEEEEEEEEE>

And, it looks like we're back to the action. Onix has started things off with a brutal Screech, but Spoink appears to have shaken it off, and has retaliated by Psybeaming Onix right in the face! Onix is starting to look visibly shaken, but it quickly shrugs it off and hurls yet another Rock Tomb at Spoink. However, Spoink releases a Psywave at Onix at the same ime, and the two attacks connect, such that both attacks only serve as glancing blows. Enraged at this turn of events, Onix hax fired off yet another Screech, and this time it looks like it's affected Spoink! While it's still managing to stay mostly focused, its latest Psybeam doesn't seem to have quite as much oomph to it.

Luckily, it looks like that Sandstorm has finally cooled itself off, and the skies are clear once again. Spoink appears to be breathing a sigh of relief, though it's still visibly wincing from its headache. Onix is looking quite a bit worse for the wear though, and I'm not sure how long he can keep this up. Will the adorable little pig be able to fight off the fearsome rock snake? We'll be back in a bit with more details soon.

Alright Will Powers, we've lowered Cesternino's Defense for a reason, now's the time to capitalize. Begin be squeezing around around Cesternino and removing it from its lovely pearl with a strong Bind.

Keep holding onto Cesternino in your tight grasp, and keep its head aching with another Screech. Finish the round with Taunt. If Cesternino tries to Magic Coat the Taunt, hit it with a Rock Tomb instead, releasing it if you have to.

Bind ~ Screech ~ Taunt

Sub: Rock Tomb is Cesternino tries to Magic Coat Taunt.

Let's go Cesternino! That Onix is weakening! You can beat him!

Hit him with Psybeam twice in a row! Then try to use Confuse Ray before he uses Taunt! If he taunts you, use Psywave instead!

*squish*

Oh dear. We're back on scene, and it looks like Onix has now wrapped itself around Spoink, and is attempting to crush it with a powerful Bind! As if its headache wasn't already bad enough... Luckily, it looks like it's fighting back, as it manages to fire off a Psybeam, stunning Onix. Wait a minute, what's this? It looks like... Onix is now writhing around, unable to obey its trainer's commands! Deck Knight is yelling for it to Screech, but instead it flails about, ramming its head into a nearby parked car! Can you say Property Damage? On top of that, it looks like it's released Spoink from the painful Bind! Now emboldened, Spoink fires off another Psybeam, then tails it with a Psywave, dealing plenty of damage! In its rage, Onix fires off a Taunt. Not sure how effective that's going to be, though... looks like Spoink's perfectly okay with just attacking to me!

Onix is now on its last legs... looks like this unlucky Confusion has turned the battle in Spoink's favor. We'll be right back in just a moment!

Great job, Cesternino! Reminds me of that time when you were at the bottom of the pecking order and suddenly, you became the most powerful player...

Anyway, let's finish this buffoon off. Psywave x3 should do the trick.

I hate confusion so much that's two battles now lol.

Alright Will powers, looks like we can't get out of this one.

Rock Tomb to lower Spoink's speed, then try and hit it with Earthquake. It probably won't be able to disrupt anything, but we can try.

Psywave (10 damage, 5 energy), Onix KOed.

Looks like it's all over here, folks. Onix has picked up a couple rocks with the last of its energy in an attempt to crush Spoink one last time, but the rocks fly wide, and miss Spoink by a mile. Spoink returns fire with two powerful waves of Psychic energy. Onix is unable to fight back, and Deck Knight calls it back to his Pokeball, disappointment in his eyes. Life Admiral starts doing a dance in the street, and his Spoink is obviously quite pleased with itself, as it dances alongside Life Admiral as well.

As a side note, we'll be billing Deck Knight for all that property damage that Onix caused. Sucks to be you, man.

Life Admiral Wins!

Life Admiral gets 2 Trainer Counters. Cesternino gets a KO Counter, a Move Counter, a Dream Counter, and an Evolution Counter.
