Bella
Lighterless
[SET]
Entry Hazard Lead (Deoxys-Speed) @ Focus Sash / Mental Herb / Light Clay
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock / Light Screen
- Spikes / Reflect
- Psycho Boost / Superpower / Teleport
[SET COMMENTS]
Deoxys-S finds a niche over other leads like Deoxys and Excadrill thanks to its blistering Speed, decent bulk, and useful utility options. Taunt gives Deoxys-S the ability to stop other leads like opposing Deoxys-S, Landorus-T, and Alolan Ninetales from setting entry hazards and Aurora Veil as well as stop setup sweepers like Mewtwo from using it as setup fodder. While Deoxys-S is normally an entry hazard lead with Stealth Rock and Spikes, Light Screen and Reflect can be run to let it operate as a dual screens lead instead. Psycho Boost is a great one-time nuke, although Superpower can be opted for instead to threaten Pokemon like Kingambit and Arceus-Dark that Deoxys-S is otherwise helpless against, and Teleport can give it the ability to pivot. Focus Sash allows Deoxys-S to guarantee at least one layer of entry hazards. Alternatively, Mental Herb blocks Taunt from opposing Deoxys-S and Arceus formes and Encore from Ogerpon-H and Magearna. Light Clay should be used exclusively with Light Screen and Reflect to extend their duration. While it does not Terastallize much, Deoxys-S can use Tera Ghost to spinblock Pokemon like Great Tusk and Regieleki. Deoxys-S should only be used on hyper offense teams looking for a dedicated lead that sets up hazards or dual screens for the team safely. Wallbreakers like Nasty Plot Mewtwo, Kyurem-W, and Palkia-O appreciate the hazards Deoxys-S sets up to help wear down their switch-ins. Ghost-types like Gholdengo and Spectrier can spinblock to keep Deoxys-S's entry hazards on the field. Pokemon weak to Stealth Rock like Kyurem-W and Iron Bundle like Deoxys-S reliably keeping entry hazards away from the field so they can be more threatening attackers.
