Welcome to LC Chopped, the premier team building competition. 4 contestants will enter, 1 will win.

Each week, op and i will select a time when the competition will start on ps. Everyone who wants to compete can show up to enter. OP and I will pick 4 people to enter. We will give a pokemon that everyone should build their team around. The contestants will have 15 minutes to build the team, please don't ask others for help because thats not fun. Once the 15 minutes pass, the contestants will battle each other to show off the teams. After the battles, each contestant will talk about how they build the team. The judges will then eliminate the contestant with the worst team. A new pokemon is named and the next round starts. This goes on until we have a winner.

Winners
- macle
- op

LC CHOPPED #1 - Madoka vs Coconut vs unfixable vs Cheek Pouch

Round 1

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/lc-255181508
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/lc-255179893
[19:18:59] +Cheek Pouch: so this is my team. Basically, the goal is to win with either Quackingsworth the Porygon or Butler the Pawniard
[19:19:35] +Cheek Pouch: I've always liked the idea of a BJ Pory. you get the recovery without needing recover, and retain sustainability as opposed to LO
[19:20:02] +Cheek Pouch: Agi/Tri is obvious, Psychic I went with for fighting types, and HP Fight to pop Pawn.
[19:20:42] +Cheek Pouch: Pawn is standard spread, doesn't need much explaining. I either try to knock off with it early in the game and win with quack, or preserve it as my wincon should pory go down
[19:21:06] +Cheek Pouch: LO Abra and Scarf Machop serve as wallbreaker to punch holes for the sweepers
[19:23:02] +Cheek Pouch: LO Abra is crazy powerful. Psychic is obvi STAB, HP fight covers pawn, and EBall is kinda just coverage. Could be swapped out for Substitute
[19:23:42] +Cheek Pouch: I chose KOff over Sub as the point of Abra is to break open opportunities for a sweeper, so by ridding stuff of eviolite, bj, scarf etc, it makes it a lot easier
[19:24:09] +Cheek Pouch: Scarf Machop is the oddball of the group, but is an underappreciated wallbreaker and can definitely hurt things
[19:25:05] +Cheek Pouch: Dynamic Punch is a strong STAB that always confuses opponents, KOff is coverage on ghosts/psychic, Rock slide catches Larv which I don't want to touch risking burn, and PJab is coverage on stuff like Spritzee
[19:25:18] +Cheek Pouch: you'll be hitting DPunch most of the time tbh
[19:26:10] +Cheek Pouch: Diglett is standard RKer/trapper, dont need to explain it. Went with Sub over memento bc with LO Abra, ScarfChop, and the overall bulk of Pory and Pawn, I don't need extra help setting them up. also gives me a chance vs. Sucker Punch users.
[19:28:04] +Cheek Pouch: Tenta is the spinner. went with a faster set and KOff support to yet again weaken shit for sweepers. Clear Body in case of webs, Sludge Wave for extra power as usually I just want to burn with scald anyways.
[19:28:35] OP: i have a question
[19:28:35] +Merritty: yw
[19:28:41] +Cheek Pouch: yes op
[19:28:45] OP: why machop
[19:28:51] OP: intead of another fighter
[19:28:11] +Merritty: I don't see tentacool's synergy kiba. None of your team is particularly bothered by hazards, you don't have a ground resist
[19:28:18] +Merritty: It's weird
[19:30:01] Mambo: imma echo merritty's statement
[19:30:03] +Coconut: I knew I was facing another team
[19:30:09] Mambo: cuz tenta is just kinda there
[19:30:14] Mambo: it's like an afterthought
[19:30:17] Mambo: like oh shit this was needed
[19:30:22] Mambo: lemme put it in the first slot
[19:30:23] edddewrec: I also have a question
[19:30:26] Mambo: and pretend i built the team around it
[19:30:32] edddewrec: how do you deal with 15 speed DD scraggy>
[19:30:35] +Coconut: ...
[19:30:38] OP: it seems like a very offensive team with a tentacool and pumpkaboo that try to be a defensive core
[19:30:45] Mambo: try
[19:30:51] +Cheek Pouch: pump isn't even on my team?
[19:30:52] +Merritty: op wrong team?
[19:30:54] OP: oh
[19:30:57] OP: oops LOL
[19:30:57] Mambo: ye wrong team
[19:30:57] %Melon: LOL
[19:30:57] Mambo: lol
[19:30:59] +Coconut: pump is on my team
[19:31:01] +Cheek Pouch: good job at paying attention
[19:31:02] +Cheek Pouch: lol
[19:31:07] OP: ok so yeah
[19:31:13] OP: its still a very offensive team
[19:31:16] OP: with just a tentacool D:
[19:31:28] +Cheek Pouch: offense hates webs
[19:31:29] Mambo: it's just kinda there
[19:31:45] Mambo: OK THANK YOU MOVING ON UNFIXABLE GO
[19:31:46] +Madoka: tenta doesnt exactly spin that well vs webs just saying
[19:31:47] +Cheek Pouch: i don't want stuff to be slowed, and a fast tenta spins against webs without suffering from a drob
[19:32:00] +Madoka: tenta being slow isnt what prevents it from spinning
[19:32:04] +Merritty: You could run defog instead in that case js
[19:32:07] %TUO: it just doesnt hit gastly
[19:32:09] %TUO: well enough
[19:32:11] +Merritty: you have no hazards
[19:32:19] %TUO: like gastly can dbond it if you don't get a scald burn

[19:32:38] +Coconut: OK
[19:32:46] +Coconut: http://pastebin.com/q2P6MrLL
[19:33:18] +Coconut: There's my team, built around a bulky hazards style that forces switches.
[19:34:09] +Coconut: tenta is an offensive mon with extra defensive investment that lays tspikes.
[19:34:21] +Coconut: He is able to stop foo switchins with hydro pump
[19:34:58] +Coconut: diggy is a suicide rocker that duals as a revenge killer.
[19:35:19] +Coconut: Pawniard blocks defog, which is crucial to the rocks and tspikes.
[19:36:14] +Coconut: I like scarf pawniard on this team because it is a strong wincon and I think in the current meta that stall/balance needs at least 1 wincon
[19:36:41] +Coconut: Pumpkaboo is a spinblocker with extra care in it's defensive stats.
[19:37:05] +Coconut: he forces switches and burns anything that avoids Tspikes.
adiass joined
[19:37:16] +Coconut: Most notably archen switchins.
19:37:43] +Coconut: Snubbull is another poke that likes to force switches.
[19:38:05] +Coconut: twave is just in case something gets very far ahead and it needs to be sacked.
[19:38:25] +Coconut: Roar is to abuse the Tspikes/Rocks and to stop switchins from happening
19:38:42] +Coconut: Pancham would be best described as the gluemon of the team
[19:38:51] +Coconut: It's a bulky fighting type with swords dance
[19:39:08] +Coconut: Gunk shot is to OHKO spritzee after an SD, forcing another switch
Belmer joined
[19:39:28] +Coconut: I originally had Roar on panda, but I thought that would be a little over the top
[19:40:31] +Coconut: Overall, I think stall is a little underrated in this meta, whether you would classify this as stall is up to you, but I think it has the elements of stall. I'm finished and open to any questions

[19:43:00] +Madoka: http://pastebin.com/MuY6FMWx
[19:43:05] +Madoka: ok 1st off imagine corph has EVs
[19:43:17] +Madoka: basically, when i started teambuilding i wanted to run SD tenta
[19:43:38] +Madoka: but then as that progressed, i decided to switch over to SD phish and support/lure tenta
[19:43:55] +Madoka: basically, tentacool functions as an integral part of the water spam on this team
[19:44:09] +Madoka: and traps problematic things for my two main wincons: timburr and corphish
[19:44:18] +Madoka: how does it trap: WHIRLPOOL!
[19:44:53] +Madoka: it's a rly weird set but it'd catch off guard ferroseeds for corphish and spritzees/snubbulls for timburr
[19:45:14] +Madoka: (tho not in last games case cuz i came in on an unsuspected t-wave)
[19:46:08] +Madoka: houndour is also a rly cool lure!
[19:46:31] +Madoka: it hits hard even w/o LO, and power herb solar beam hits chou hard on the switch or rly anything hard on a switch
[19:46:46] 9nha safadinha: flood
[19:46:52] +Madoka: and then it can steal items from walls and be a huge disruption to defensive cores
[19:46:54] Mambo: madoka
[19:46:58] Mambo: your houndour set
[19:47:00] Mambo: gave me a boner
[19:47:02] Mambo: carry on
[19:47:49] +Madoka: ok so then i realized i was fairly weak to HO. what other way to fix this than SD tailwind fletch?
[19:47:51] +Coconut: one is cuter than the other.
[19:48:07] +Madoka: tailwind also lets me safely pivot vs chinchous
[19:48:14] +Madoka: which are a lowkey threat to the team

[19:45:49] +Madoka: anyways, with the core of timburr/phish/tenta, i wanted something to beat chinchou/foongus
[19:48:45] +Madoka: and finally i was running outta time, needed a fletch answer, and sub ddance tyrunt checks foong/pumpkin/chou/pory
[19:48:48] +Madoka: other annoying mons
[19:48:56] • +Madoka FIN

Unfixable and cp are (BAN ME PLEASE)s and left and got double chopped.

Finals madoka vs Coconut

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/lc-255197298

[20:22:16] +Madoka: http://pastebin.com/9g54jU7v
[20:22:31] +Madoka: i just built around a dual defensive sweeper core in cm spritz and coil ekans
[20:22:37] +Madoka: while checking relevant threats in the current meta
[20:23:03] +Madoka: dual spore foong cuz team appreciates paralysis support
[20:23:11] +Madoka: cuz lotsa slow mons
[20:23:33] +Madoka: and shed skin rest is always fun on ekans
[20:23:42] +Madoka: better for longetivity
[20:23:46] +Madoka: which this team wants
[20:24:29] OP: cool
[20:24:42] OP: wait
[20:24:55] OP: doka do you have an answer to gastly or n
[20:25:05] +Madoka: uh
[20:25:09] +Madoka: munch/vully
[20:25:11] +Madoka: a combo of the two
[20:25:15] +Madoka: check gastly enough
[20:25:21] OP: is the plan to pp stall?
[20:25:24] OP: munchlax cant touch it
[20:25:25] +Madoka: what?
[20:25:27] +Madoka: oh
[20:25:27] OP: vullaby is 2hkod
[20:25:29] +Madoka: i thought i had eq
[20:25:30] +Madoka: err
[20:25:31] +Madoka: pursuit
[20:25:33] +Madoka: oops!
[20:25:46] +Madoka: but uh
[20:26:07] +Madoka: foongus also lowkey checks it
[20:26:10] +Madoka: if it can predict well

[20:26:47] +Coconut: Building around Glare + 3 Attacks Ekans
[20:26:59] +Coconut: I came up with this http://pastebin.com/uqupWA2d
[20:27:36] +Coconut: the first thing that came to my mind that beats ekans is Abra
[20:27:47] +Coconut: so Weezer the Honedge was thrown on the team
[20:28:06] +Coconut: Next was SD Pass Foo.
[20:28:14] Tirince64: antone wanna test my team im done making
[20:28:18] +Coconut: This allowed me to work with the two in front of it
[20:28:23] Tirince64: anyone*
[20:28:36] +Coconut: and gave ekans boosts to sweep
[20:28:43] +Coconut: which is why he's shed skin, to avoid burns.
RunnyBabbits joined
[20:29:05] +Coconut: I then picked Scarf Sheller to counter birds and abuse the SD Pass
[20:29:30] +Coconut: Diggy was nexy because if it isn't broke don't fix it
lamanchaquemancha joined
[20:29:35] +Coconut: (see what I did there)
[20:29:42] OP: agreed
[20:29:53] +Madoka: coco's teams both used digltt
[20:29:56] +Madoka: !
[20:30:04] +Madoka: had to censor out the e
[20:30:07] +Coconut: Modest DL Agility Pory was next
[20:30:07] +Madoka: cuz digl*tt is a bad word
CasedVictory left
[20:30:22] +Coconut: because it's the most underrated sweeper in this meta
[20:30:30] +Coconut: and kills literally so many things.
[20:30:39] +Coconut: I would have put a LO but I wanted a safety net
[20:30:44] +Coconut: OK I'm finished.
[20:31:13] OP: it sorta feels like you have small weaknesses to a lot of things like ground types or gastly
[20:31:23] OP: and shellder/porygon get worn down realyly fast with those sets
[20:31:31] +Coconut: gastly is checks in shellder/pory/honedge
[20:31:45] +Coconut: pory is moreso used for lategame
[20:31:47] +Madoka: she better checks gastly than me kek
the aurora beam left
[20:32:01] +Coconut: also snake has sucker
[20:32:15] OP: it cant touch a gastly using sub
[20:32:22] OP: so its meh
[20:32:25] +Madoka: gunk shot breaks sub
[20:32:33] +Coconut: ^
[20:32:39] +Coconut: also shellder breaks subs
[20:32:41] OP: even with 4x resist
[20:32:43] OP: gastly SUCKS
[20:32:43] +Coconut: and outspeeds
[20:32:45] +Madoka: yeah
[20:32:53] +Madoka: i remember trub breaking missy subs
[20:32:59] +Madoka: evio missy subs
[20:33:00] +Coconut: Gastly isn't particularly a problem
bigsto left
[20:33:08] +Madoka: so im 99% sure it breaks gastly subs
[20:33:11] +Coconut: Ground types aren't really either because pory has ice beam
[20:33:13] Uhkay: w/b disable gastly *0*
[20:33:15] Uhkay: lord set
[20:33:16] +Coconut: and shellder can rip through them
[20:33:28] +Coconut: ekans can also revenge kill if need be
[20:33:46] +Madoka: ya it does i calc'd
[20:34:22] +Coconut: I honestly think it's one of the best teams I built in a while

ill make it better later

So tini hates steel types, and the two most common are mag and pawniard. Button foo + evio diglett removes them w/ easy. tini is needed, bj lets it set up on weaker things and maybe get +2. Archen is for sr and to check fletching long enough for tini to sweep. Pory is to patch weaknesses to Abra and other irksomes like Elekid. Foon is to prevent losses to scarf foo + beat water spam.

Ok, so it's basically a bunch of lures in order to let numel break for corphish or vice versa. foongus lets me deal with Corphish and fighters semi-effectively.pawniard is a decent catch to sweepers, hence sucker punch scarf. it also can be sacced to fighters to give numel or corphish a chance to set up on them. archen is eviolite because I needed a constant fletch check and I wanted rocks. fletchling helps put pressure on the opponent.

Numel @ Life Orb

I didn't know how to make a team around numel that was actually decently offensive but not paper thin so i didn't bother. Water spam is to counter act fire spam. Numel punishes fletchless teams, cran traps fletch. Abra revenges and breaks for everything. Scraggy rks

Vulpix @ Heat Rock
Ability: Drought
Level: 5
EVs: 52 HP / 196 SpA / 236 Spe
