IronPress Garganacl functions as both a defensive stopgap to important threats like Heatran, Gouging Fire, and Volcarona and a potent setup sweeper with Iron Defense coupled with its sky high defensive stats. Unfortunately, it is extremely reliant on Tera to be a consistent check to the aforementioned Pokemon due to its pure Rock typing being a liability defensively. Iron Defense allows Garganacl to outscale other physical setup sweepers like Dragonite, Gouging Fire, and Gliscor and beat them. Body Press turns into a powerful move after a few Iron Defenses, letting Garganacl be immediately threatening and pressuring opponents who try to stall out Salt Cure via dual Regenerator or Poison Heal Pokemon. Salt Cure is a mainstay on Garganacl, letting it make consistent progress against almost every Pokemon in the tier, especially pressuring Toxapex, which threatens to take away its boosts with Haze, and Dondonzo and Skeledirge, which ignore its boosted Body Press. Leftovers is crucial on Garganacl to prevent it from being worn down by chip damage and allow it to use its Recovers sparingly. Garganacl is extremely reliant on Terastallization, and every Tera option changes what it is able and unable to check. Tera Fairy is an all-around (AH) stellar Tera type defensively, giving Garganacl only two uncommon weaknesses and flipping the script on Fighting-types like Mega Medicham and Zamazenta. Tera Water allows Garganacl to perform exceptionally against rain, walling Barraskewda, Mega Swampert, and Urshifu-R while still being an overall solid defensive Tera type. Tera Dragon lets Garganacl keep the Water and Fire resistances that Tera Water provides while also making it resist Grass, letting it wall Ogerpon-W. However, being weak to Fairy means Garganacl can be easily forced out by Iron Valiant and Tapu Lele. Iron Defense Garganacl fits best on bulkier teams that appreciate its unique defensive profile and the potential for it to be a wincon. Entry hazard support from Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Clefable, and Gliscor is crucial for putting more pressure on the Pokemon that try to dance around Garganacl's Salt Cure. In order to not be too reliant on Tera, additional defensive pieces surrounding Garganacl are important, making partners like Toxapex and Mega Latias. These teammates also deal with the Fighting- and Ground-type Pokemon that pressure Garganacl. Lastly, Leftovers is important for Garganacl to function as a setup sweeper, so Knock Off absorbers like the aforementioned Toxapex and Mega Scizor are needed. Partners like Tapu Lele, Kartana, and Urshifu-R that appreciate Garganacl pressuring Steel-, Flying-, and Water-types like Ferrothorn and Toxapex also work well with it.

Iron Defense + Body Press Garganacl functions as both a defensive stopgap to important threats in the tier like Mega Charizard Y (not yard they 2hko you with a solar beam on switch in or you need tera dragon), Gouging Fire, and Volcarona, while also being a potent wincon with Iron Defense coupled with its sky high defensive stats. Unfortunately, it is extremely reliant on Tera to be a consistent check to the aforementioned Pokemon due to its pure Rock-typing being a liability defensively. (remove new line)Iron Defense allows Garganacl to outscale other physical set up sweepers like Dragonite, Gouging Fire, and Gliscor, and beat them. Body Press turns into a powerful move after a few Iron Defenses, letting Garganacl be immediately threatening. (i like to mention how boosted body press threatens opponent trying to stall it via double regen or gliscor) Salt Cure is a mainstay on Garganacl, being a way for it to make consistent progress on almost every Pokemon in the tier, especially pressuring Toxapex who threatens to Haze away its boosts. (also helps garg as a setup sweeper vs unaware users like donzo and skeledirge) Garganacl is extremely reliant on Terastal, and every Tera option changes what it able and unable to check. Fairy is an all around stellar type defensively, giving Garganacl only two uncommon weaknesses and flipping the script on Fighting-types like Mega Medicham and Zamazenta. Tera Water allows Garganacl to perform exceptionally against Rain, walling Barraskewda, Mega Swampert, and Urshifu-RS, while still being an overall solid defensive type. Lastly, Leftovers is important for Garganacl to function as a wincon, so Knock Off absorbers like the aforementioned Toxapex and Mega Scizor is needed. (add teammates benefit from garg pressuring flying/steel/waters)
