Gen 8 Incineroar 1/2 [HIGH PRIORITY!!!!!!!]

[OVERVIEW]

Incineroar is a great wallbreaker and good defensive Pokemon in RU, thanks to its typing which is fantastic offensively and defensively. It also has some very useful utility moves; Knock Off is great for removing Leftovers and Heavy-Duty Boots from targets such as Gastrodon, Noivern, and Togekiss, while U-turn pivots teammates in safely. Offensive Incineroar is very difficult to wall, overpowering even RU's bulkiest walls like Gastrodon and Milotic with Swords Dance boosted attacks. Offensive Incineroar checks Reuniclus and Cosmic Power Metagross decently, unlike specially defensive Incineroar, and it gets setup opportunity against various common Pokemon like Umbreon, Celebi, and Registeel. On the contrary, specially defensive Incineroar has a generally stronger matchup against more offensive teams, being a much better check to the likes of Celebi, Gardevoir, Chandelure, and Raikou, and still being annoying to switch into between Knock Off and Toxic. Incineroar's typing is overall quite good, but leaves it with annoying weaknesses to Water, Ground, and Fighting, which are exploited by common threats such as Sharpedo, Flygon, Lucario, and Heracross.

[SET[
name: Offensive
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Knock Off
move 3: Flare Blitz / Close Combat
move 4: U-turn
item: Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Intimidate
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Incineroar's nearly unresisted STAB move combination makes it a fantastic wallbreaker, capable of breaking even RU's bulkiest walls like Gastrodon and Milotic with Swords Dance. Flare Blitz threatens Fairy-types like Galarian Weezing and Togekiss, more immediately deals with Vileplume, and KOs Mimikyu after Life Orb recoil. Alternatively, Close Combat hits Dark- and Rock-types like Guzzlord, Incineroar, Umbreon, Stakataka, and Barbaracle, prevents Bewear from safely revenge killing Incineroar, and doesn't deal recoil damage when taking down Steel-types and the aforementioned Dark- and Rock-types. U-turn pivots wallbreaking teammates like Lucario in safely and softens up checks like Milotic and Gastrodon to be overcome by Incineroar later. A Jolly nature ensures that Incineroar outpaces the standard Milotic set that runs 88 Spe EVs. Close Combat is an option over Flare Blitz or U-turn that OHKOs Guzzlord, Umbreon, and opposing Incineroar after Swords Dance.

Incineroar loves VoltTurn from the likes of Heliolisk, Xurkitree, and Crobat to bring Incineroar in against walls like Steelix and Registeel. Additionally, Xurkitree and Heliolisk check Water-types like Milotic, and threaten Gastrodon with Grass-type coverage. Water-types like Milotic and Gastrodon check Water- and Ground-types like Sharpedo and Flygon for Incineroar. Fighting-types like Heracross, Lucario, and Jolly Bewear outspeed and threaten Incineroar massively. Crobat checks Heracross and revenge kills Lucario, Noivern is a good revenge killer to all the Fighting-types, and Ghost-types like Jellicent and Chandelure check Bewear and Lucario. Hazard setters like Steelix, Registeel, and Roserade appreciate Incineroar's Knock Off removing Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon like Togekiss and Gastrodon. Psychic-types like Gardevoir and Sigilyph appreciate Incineroar checking Chandelure and Mimikyu. Gardevoir's Healing Wish can also heal Incineroar back up after it has sustained damage from checking Pokemon and its Flare Blitz. Other wallbreakers like Heracross and Toxtricity benefit from Incineroar bringing them in with U-turn against Water-types.

[SET]
name: Specially Defensive
move 1: Knock Off
move 2: Overheat
move 3: Toxic / Swords Dance
move 4: U-turn
item: Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Intimidate
nature: Sassy / Careful
evs: 252 HP / 20 Atk / 236 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

Specially defensive Incineroar is far better at checking Pokemon like Gardevoir, Celebi, Chandelure, and Raikou than its offensive counterpart. Overheat hits targets such as Steelix, Bewear, Metagross, and Doublade harder than Flare Blitz while preserving Incineroar's HP. Toxic can catch threats such as Gastrodon, Milotic, and Rhyperior, and Incineroar is quite effective at spreading Toxic, as most Steel- and Poison-types do not want to switch into Overheat or Knock Off. Alternatively, Swords Dance improves Incineroar's matchup against Calm Mind Reuniclus, Cosmic Power Metagross, and Crobat. U-turn pivots in wallbreaking teammates and is preferred over Parting Shot due to Clear Body Pokemon which block Parting Shot like Diancie and Metagross, and the fact that whatever got hit by U-turn is likely going to be forced out anyways, making U-turn's damage more beneficial in the long run. 20 Attack EVs ensure that Knock Off OHKOes Chandelure. Flare Blitz can be used over Overheat to make use of Swords Dance, dealing good damage to the likes of Umbreon, Galarian Weezing, and Registeel while boosted

Incineroar properly switching into Chandelure and being a great buffer against most Fire-types is appreciated by many Grass-types. These include Celebi, Roserade, and Dhelmise, all of which can check Ground- and Water-types such as Flygon, Gastrodon, and Milotic. Psychic-type teammates, such as Reuniclus and Gardevoir, appreciate Incineroar pivoting into dangerous Ghost-types such as Chandelure and Mimikyu. Incineroar can give free switches via U-turn to frailer offensive teammates, such as Xurkitree, Gardevoir, and Lucario, and gives setup opportunities to setup Pokemon like Calm Mind Raikou and Nasty Plot Celebi. Hazard setters such as Roserade, Registeel, and Metagross appreciate Incineroar removing Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon like Milotic and Togekiss with Knock Off.

Other Options
=============

Choice Band with Close Combat over Swords Dance grants Incineroar an extra coverage option for Guzzlord and opposing Incineroar, and is more immediately threatening, 2HKOing bulky Water-types like Milotic and Gastrodon with minimal damage. However, the Stealth Rock weakness makes this set higher maintenance. A set of Flame Charge, Bulk Up, Power Trip, and Weakness Policy is a potentially threatening sweeper on highly offensive teams, however, a lack of Heavy-Duty Boots cut into Incineroar's longevity and it's slow even after Flame Charge; Crobat, Raikou and Choice Scarf users like Flygon and Gardevoir can outpace and finish Incineroar off. Taunt is an option on defensive Incineroar which prohibits recovery from Pokemon like Milotic, Umbreon, and Reuniclus, and Stealth Rock and Toxic from the likes of Registeel and Steelix.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: MIlotic, Gastrodon, and Seismitoad switch into and thwart Incineroar, however, they can be overpowered by offensive Incineroar, and dislike Knock Off and Toxic. Offensive Starmie and mixed Sharpedo outpace and threaten Incineroar, but they can't switch in, and don't OHKO a healthy specially defensive Incineroar, though physical Sharpedo does OHKO.

**Rock-types**: Rhyperior, Stakataka, and Diancie can switch into Incineroar, but dislike Knock Off and Toxic greatly, since they lack recovery beyond Leftovers. Dragon Dance, Aerodacryl, Tyrantrum, and Barbaracle use Incineroar to set up.

**Fighting-types and Fighting-type coverage**: Heracross, Jolly Bewear, and Lucario all outrun and force out Incineroar with the threat of their STAB moves, although none of them can switch in reliably. Additionally, Pokemon that Incineroar can usually pivot into, such as Reuniclus and Registeel, can viably run Fighting-type coverage and deal great damage.

**Ground-types**: Faster Ground-types like Nidoqueen and offensive Flygon sets can scare out Incineroar, though, aren't safe switch-ins. Utility Flygon can switch into Incineroar better due to Roost and bulk investment, however, Roost is forced easily, which is fairly passive and exploitable.

**Knock Off**: Incineroar is heavily reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots to stay healthy and check what it needs to throughout a match, so Knock Off from threats such as Reuniclus, Escavalier, Salazzle, and opposing Incineroar is hugely detrimental to it.

Offensive Incineroar can check Reuniclus and Cosmic Power Metagross decently, unlike specially defensive Incineroar, as its weaker Knock Off is more easily healed off, it's slower than Metagross, and it struggles to break them even when carrying Swords Dance. Incineroar's and it gets setup opportunity against various common Pokemon like Umbreon, Celebi, and Registeel.
don't need to be super specific on the overview
