Z-Move Heatran is an insanely devastating wallbreaker that can beat almost all its checks with the right Z-Move. It's also one of the most reliable Stealth Rock setters, as it can threaten many forms of entry hazard control such as Kartana and Landorus-T. Its great natural bulk along with its stellar typing means it can act as a great offensive check to the likes of Mega Scizor and Mega Mawile, though its lack of recovery means it can only check these for so long and is very easy to wear down. It is also hindered by its low Speed tier, which leaves it outsped by key threats like Gliscor, Tapu Fini, and Garchomp. Magma Storm traps threats like Toxapex and Blissey and inflicts chip damage on threats like Garchomp and Tapu Fini. Earth Power provides crucial coverage, hitting Toxapex and opposing Heatran. Taunt stops passive Pokemon such as Blissey, Toxapex, and Slowbro from pivoting out or using a recovery move, letting Heatran overwhelm them. Toxic cripples threats like Mega Latias, Rotom-W, and Mega Charizard Y, severely ruining their longevity. However, missing out on Taunt ruining walls can be detrimental in some matchups. Stealth Rock can be used as Heatran is a very reliable entry hazard setter, forcing out common forms of entry hazard removal. Grassium Z with Solar Beam is the primary combination, as it allows Heatran to adequately bait and OHKO Tapu Fini, Rotom-W, and Gastrodon while also heavily chipping Garchomp and Mega Tyranitar. However, it makes Heatran much worse into Calm Mind Clefable and unable to punish Gliscor as well. Heatran can also use Flash Cannon or Steel Beam along with Steelium Z, as Corkscrew Crash can significantly dent if not outright OHKO common Heatran checks such as Tapu Fini, Garchomp, and Tyranitar, and it also lets it soft check Calm Mind Clefable. Steel Beam is used for its extra power, especially notable against Mega Garchomp, Tapu Fini, and Gliscor, and it still retains necessary power with a Timid nature, but it means that Heatran essentially has a dead moveslot after using its Z-Move. Flash Cannon gives Heatran a usable move even after using its Z-Move to pressure Calm Mind Clefable, but it is significantly weaker. However, both of these options prevent Heatran from running an additional utility move. Heatran can also use Firium Z to fire off an insanely powerful Inferno Overdrive, which OHKOes most Gliscor and Landorus-T sets and, frees up a moveslot for an extra utility move; however, outside of a strong STAB nuke, it doesn't let Heatran break past checks like Gastrodon and Tapu Fini. Flash Fire is used, as it lets Heatran check Volcarona, Serperior, and Victini. The given EV spread lets Heatran survive a +2 Mega Mawile Sucker Punch from full HP and a Kartana Sacred Sword after Stealth Rock. A Timid nature lets Heatran outspeed Pokemon like opposing Heatran and most Gliscor sets, while a Modest nature gives it better damage rolls against Garchomp, Tapu Fini, and Gliscor.

Heatran fits best on bulky offense and balance teams. Due to its weakness to Ground-types like Gliscor and Garchomp, it appreciates teammates that can handle these, such as Tapu Fini, Slowbro, and Weavile. Heatran is generally weak to Water-types like Tapu Fini, Gastrodon, and Rotom-W, so Pokemon that can take advantage of or check these Water-types such as Kartana, Tapu Koko, and Ferrothorn are good partners for it. Pokemon like Tapu Lele, Kartana, and Weavile appreciate Heatran pressuring Steel- and Grass-types like Ferrothorn, Skarmory, and Mega Scizor, and the latter two can potentially clean up after Heatran has broken holes in teams. Ash-Greninja is a great teammate for Heatran, as it can wear down Heatran's checks with Spikes and help overwhelm or lure shared checks in Tapu Fini and Gastrodon if Heatran is lacking Grassium Z. Due to its vulnerability to entry hazards and complete lack of recovery, Heatran appreciates having teammates that can remove hazards, like Gliscor and Tapu Fini. While it can soft check threats like Calm Mind Clefable, Volcarona, and Serperior, it cannot handle these in the long-term due to its lack of recovery, so other checks to these like defensive Volcarona, Toxapex, and Swords Dance Gliscor are good partners for it. Heatran also likes partners that can switch into Fighting-types, like Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham, that can revenge kill Heatran, like Landorus-T and Zapdos. Grassy Terrain support from the likes of Tapu Bulu and Rillaboom can give it highly appreciated passive recovery and power up its Bloom Doom if using Grassium Z.

[SET COMMENTS]
Specially defensive Heatran is a tank that uses its great typing and natural bulk to check threats like Calm Mind Clefable, Mega Mawile, Tapu Lele, and Volcarona, with Leftovers giving it consistent recovery while not being passive due to its great Special Attack stat and ability to spread large amounts of chip damage with Magma Storm and Toxic. However, it is still fairly easy to wear down due to its lack of reliable recovery, and it becomes a lot easier to check without a Z-Move or Special Attack investment. Magma Storm applies crucial chip damage on threats like Garchomp and Tapu Fini while also trapping Pokemon such as Toxapex. Alternatively, Lava Plume can be used for its perfect accuracy and ability to burn Pokemon like Tyranitar and Garchomp, but its lower Base Power and inability to trap threats like Toxapex mean it is generally not preferred. Earth Power provides important coverage for threats like Toxapex, Mega Diancie, and opposing Heatran. Heatran is a good Stealth Rock setter, as it can threaten most Defoggers like Corviknight and Kartana, though it is annoyed by ones like Tapu Fini. Heavy Slam can be used to deal with Calm Mind Clefable much better while doing good chip damage to Tapu Fini. Taunt lets Heatran beat passive Pokemon like Toxapex and Slowbro. Toxic lets it harshly punish Pokemon that may want to take advantage of it such as Mega Latias, Gastrodon, and Rotom-W. Flash Fire is used, as it lets Heatran beat Volcarona and Victini. The given EV spread lets it outspeed Adamant Tyranitar and Modest Magnezone. If using Heavy Slam, an EV spread of 252 HP / 4 Atk / 180 SpD / 72 Spe with a Sassy Nature should be used to 2HKO Bold Clefable while still outspeeding uninvested Mega Scizor.

Specially Defensive Heatran can fit on a wide variety of teams, ranging from offense to balance. Pokemon like Toxapex, Mega Lopunny, and Weavile appreciate Heatran's ability to check dangerous Psychic- and Fairy-types like Tapu Lele and Clefable. Heatran is weak to Ground-types like Gliscor, Garchomp, and Gastrodon, so checks to these like Corviknight, Weavile, and Slowbro are good partners for it. Weavile, in particular, provides crucial Knock Off support that makes Tapu Fini easier to wear down. Pokemon like Tapu Lele and Ash-Greninja appreciate Heatran pressuring opposing Grass- and Steel-types like Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn. Good Defoggers like Gliscor and Tapu Fini are good teammates for it, as it is annoyed by entry hazards. Because of Heatran's weakness to Water-types like Ash-Greninja and Tapu Fini, it appreciates having teammates that can handle these, like Tapu Fini, Toxapex, and Ferrothorn. Good switch-ins to the Fighting-types that revenge kill Heatran, like Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham, are good partners for it, like Landorus-T, Zapdos, and Clefable.

Will-O-Wisp can be used on Firium Z and specially defensive sets, as it can burn Pokemon like Garchomp and Gliscor before its Toxic Orb has been activated, dodge Sucker Punch to check Bisharp and Mega Mawile even at low Health, and potentially activate Flash Fire against Mega Sableye; however, it is hard to fit in its moveset. Protect can be used on specially defensive sets to rack up Toxic and Magma Storm chip damage on the likes of Garchomp, as well as rack up Leftovers and Grassy Terrain recovery and force dangerous mind games with Mega Medicham, but it makes Heatran incredibly easy to take advantage of, with Pokemon like Garchomp and Volcarona using it as setup fodder, as well as it taking up a valuable moveslot. Air Balloon's temporary Ground immunity lets Heatran annoy its Ground-type checks like Gliscor and Garchomp, but the passive recovery of Leftovers and the nuking ability of Z-Moves make them generally preferred. Flame Body can be used on any of its sets to burn physical attackers like Weavile and Mega Mawile while also punishing U-turns from the likes of Mega Lopunny and Landorus-T, possibly with physical defense investment, but being unable to beat Fire-types like Volcarona and Victini and potentially being broken through by Serperior make this generally not preferred. Stone Edge can be used to immediately KO Volcarona while soft checking Mega Charizard Y, but it is very hard to fit and Toxic wears both of them down anyways. Hidden Power Ice can be used to beat Ground-types like Garchomp and Gliscor without using the Z-Move, but it takes up a valuable moveslot and does not do much to its other checks like Tapu Fini. Sets using Eruption and either Choice Scarf or Choice Specs may seem usable, but these sets are extremely prone to chip damage, forfeit most of Heatran's defensive utility, and can be easily pivoted around using bulky Water-types like Toxapex and Tapu Fini.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types and Ground-type Coverage**: Ground-types like Gliscor and Garchomp are great checks to Heatran, as they can take most of its hits and OHKO it back with Earthquake. Gliscor, in particular, is immune to Toxic and has reliable recovery, but Garchomp has no recovery and is annoyed by Toxic. However, Gliscor can be OHKOed by Inferno Overdrive or Corkscrew Crash off Steel Beam, while Garchomp is OHKOed by any form of Corkscrew Crash. Landorus-T can also revenge kill it, but it struggles to switch in. Ground-type coverage from the likes of Mega Scizor, Kyurem, and Mega Diancie can also severely dent or OHKO it.

**Water-types**: Bulky Water-types like Tapu Fini, Manaphy, Rotom-W, and Gastrodon are great checks to Heatran, as they can tank most of its hits and can beat it with their Water-type STAB moves. However, Tapu Fini fears Corkscrew Crash, while Gastrodon and Rotom-W are annoyed by Toxic, and all of them fear Bloom Doom. Offensive Water-types like Greninja and Mega Swampert can revenge kill it, but struggle to switch in.

**Mega Latias**: Mega Latias can comfortably switch in to most of what Heatran does and has reliable recovery as well. Substitute Mega Latias can also use Heatran as setup fodder. However, Toxic heavily cripples Mega Latias and it should thus be careful upon switching in. Corkscrew Crash can also KO after slight chip and Stealth Rock damage.

**Faster Threats and Revenge Killers**: Naturally fast Pokemon like Mega Medicham, Mega Lopunny, and Ash-Greninja can take advantage of Heatran's low Speed tier and force it out with ease. Mega Swampert in rain can also outspeed and revenge kill it. Choice Scarf Kartana can use Sacred Sword to KO it after slight chip damage, as well.

**Tyranitar**: Tyranitar can take most of Heatran's hits due to its immense special bulk while under sand, and either Pursuit trap it or hit it for great damage with its STAB or coverage moves. However, it is prone to being chipped down, hates getting burned by alternative options like Lava Plume or Will-O-Wisp, and is severely damaged by Corkscrew Crash.

**Residual Damage**: Heatran is prone to being chipped down through entry hazards, Leech Seed, and other forms of chip damage, due to its lack of reliable recovery.

Z-move Heatran is an insanely devastating wallbreaker which can beat almost all its checks with the right Z move. Its also one of the most reliable Stealth Rock setters as it can threaten many forms of hazard control such as Kartana, Zapdos, and Corviknight, and its great natural bulk along with its stellar typing means it can act as a great Offensive check to the likes of Mega Scizor and Mega Mawile, though its lack of recovery means it can only check these for so long and is very easy to wear down. wld prolly split these sentences into 2, goes on for far too long, prolly split at the “Zapdos, and Corviknight” part It is also hindered by its low speed tier, which leaves it outsped by key threats like Gliscor, Hydreigon and Garchomp. Magma Storm is its main STAB move, used because of its ability to trap threats like Toxapex and Blissey, and inflict chip damage on threats like Garchomp. Earth Power provides crucial coverage, hitting Toxapex, Tyranitar, and opposing Heatran. Heatran is a great Stealth Rock setter as it can beat common hazard control options such as Corviknight and Mega Diancie. u alr mention this before anws, no need to mention it agn Taunt stops passive Pokemon such as Blissey, Toxapex, i wld say pex is one of ur main targets fr taunt, bc w/o it, pex can potentially stall out magma turns -> functioning as a soft check and Slowking from pivoting out or using a recovery move, letting Heatran overwhelm them. Toxic cripples threats like Mega Latias, Hydreigon, and Kommo-o further explain how this makes them ineffective at being long term threats. Firium-Z lets Heatran fire off an insanely powerful Inferno Overdrive, which is capable of OHKOing most Gliscor sets , and also frees up a moveslot for an extra utility move mention how fire z also gives y a 1 time accurate fire move, which is p big if ur main stab is 75% accurate . It can also use Flash Cannon along with Steelium Z, as Corkscrew Crash can significantly dent if not outright OHKO common Heatran checks such as Tapu Fini, Hydreigon, and Tyranitar, and lets it soft check Calm Mind Clefable,(rc);(asc) however,(ac) it takes up a valuable moveslot and comes just short of OHKOing Gliscor. Steel Beam can be used for its extra power, especially notable against Mega Garchomp and Gliscor, but it leaves Heatran unable to check Calm Mind Clefable and Corkscrew Crash off Flash Cannon KOs these after Stealth Rock anyways imo this wording makes it sound 100% outclassed by flash, and more so like a oo. I wld mention the huge damage increase vs fini mainly, especially on timid sets. Flash Fire is used as it lets Heatran check non Hidden Power Ground not really common enough to specify Volcarona and Serperior Victini more relevant mon, u can mention tini if you want but i dont feel its worth. The given EV spread lets its survive a + 2 Mega Mawile Sucker Punch from full HP and a Kartana Sacred Sword after Stealth Rocks. mention timid here somewhere asw

Heatran fits best on bulky offense and balance teams. Due to its weakness to Ground-types like Gliscor and Garchomp, it appreciates teammates that can handle these such as Corviknight, Tangrowth, and Weavile. It is also weak to Water-types like Tapu Fini, Gastrodon, and Greninja, so Pokemon that can take advantage of or check these Water-types such as Kartana, Tapu Fini, or Ferrothorn are good partners for it. Ash-Greninja is a great teammate for Heatran, as it can wear down Heatrans checks with Spikes, and can also help overwhelm shared checks in Tapu Fini and Gastrodon. Due to its complete lack of recovery, Heatran appreciates having teammates that can remove hazards like Corviknight and Tapu Fini. Team-(rh)mates that appreciate Heatran setting Stealth Rock consistently like Kartana, Calm Mind Clefable, and Gliscor are also good partners. Heatran also likes partners that can switch into Fighting-Types that can revenge kill Heatran like Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham like Landorus-T, Corviknight, and Zapdos. wld mention grassy terrain, as well as pokemon like pex n sciz etc which can help it check stuff like volc and lele which it cant check by itself in the long term, mention pokemon that appreciate it pressuring opposing steels and grasses and breaking holes in teams

Lava Plume can be used for its perfect accuracy and ability to burn Pokemon like Tyranitar and Garchomp, but it's lower Base Power and inability to trap threats like Toxapex mean it is generally not preferred. Earth Power provides important coverage for threats like Toxapex, Mega Diancie,(ac) and opposing Heatran. Heatran is a good Stealth Rock setter as it can threaten most Defoggers like Corviknight and Kartana, though it is annoyed by Defog Tapu Fini. Heavy Slam can be used as it lets Heatran deal with Calm Mind Clefable much better while doing good chip damage to Tapu Fini. Taunt lets Heatran beat passive Pokemon like Chansey im kinda mixed on this bc u need to hit all of ur magma’s to beat chans in a 1v1 even, and even then ur tran will be at like 0, so idrk if you really “beat” it, but then again it does cripple it, so ur choice imo, Toxapex, and Slowbro. Toxic lets it harshly punish Pokemon that may want to take advantage of it such as Hydreigon, Gastrodon, and Tapu Fini after it has removed its terrain with Defog. Flash Fire is used as it lets Heatran beat Volcarona and Victini.

Grassium Z in conjunction with Solar Beam can be used, as it can OHKO the Water-Types like Gastrodon and Tapu Fini that check Heatran, but it leaves Heatran with a useless move after it has used the Z move, and also dosent do much to its other checks like Garchomp and Gliscor without Grassy Terrain it does like 80 to chomp unboosted lol. Will-O-Wisp can be used on Firium Z sets, as it can burn Pokemon like Garchomp and Gliscor before its Toxic Orb has been activated, and also lets it check Swords Dance Mega Mawile even at low Health, but it is hard to fit in its moveset mention the interaction with sucker maw and bish specifically, asw as the one with msab. Air Ballons temporary Ground immunity lets Heatran annoy its Ground-type checks like Gliscor and Garchomp, but the passive Recovery of Leftovers and the nuking ability of Z moves make them generally preferred. Sets using Eruption and either Choice Scarf or Choice Specs may seem usable, but these sets are extremely prone to chip damage, forfeit most of Heatrans defensive utility and can be easily pivoted around using bulky Water-types like Toxapex and Tapu Fini. I think hp ice also deserves a mention on timid sets as it doesnt take z, protect also good to punish medi + get extra lefties terrain recovery, and maybe stone edge asw

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types and Ground-type coverage**: Ground-types like Gliscor and Garchomp are great checks to Heatran, as they can take most of its hits and OHKO it back with Earthquake. Gliscor in particular is immune to Toxic and has reliable recovery, while Garchomp has no recovery and is annoyed by Toxic. However, Gliscor can be OHKOd by Inferno Overdrive or Corkscrew Crash off Steel Beam, and Garchomp is OHKOd by any Corkscrew Crash. Landorus-T can also revenge kill it, but it struggles to switch-in. Ground-type coverage from the likes of Mega Scizor, Kyurem kyurem is rlly big here bc at least mdia can still dstorm and msciz can just turn out, most kyu is utterly walled by tran w/o ep and Mega Diancie can also severely dent it.

**Water-types**: Bulky Water-types like Tapu Fini, Manaphy, Rotom-Wash, and Gastrodon are great checks to Heatran, as they can tank most of its hits and can beat it with their Water-type STAB moves. However, Tapu Fini fears Corkscrew Crash, while Gastrodon and Rotom-Wash are annoyed by Toxic, and all of them fear the rare Bloom Doom. Offensive Water-types like Greninja and Mega Swampert can revenge kill it, but struggle to switch-in.

**Dragon-Types**: Hydreigon, Mega Latios, and Kommo-o are able to switch-in to Heatran and force it out with super effective moves, but they hate Toxic and Corkscrew Crash. mention how the latters lack of recovery means it isnt a consistent check

*Fighting-types and Fighting-type coverage***: Fighting-types like Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham can revenge kill Heatran, but they cannot switch-in. Fighting-type coverage from the likes of Kartana and Tapu Lele also threaten it.

**Tyranitar and Mega Tyranitar**: Tyranitar can take most of Heatrans hits due to its immense special bulk, and either Pursuit trap it or hit it for great damage with its STAB or coverage moves. However, it is prone to being chipped down, hates getting burned, and is severly damaged by Corkscrew Crash.

**Residual damage**: Heatran is prone to being chipped down through Entry Hazards, Leech Seed and other forms of chip damage, due to its lack of reliable recovery.

Toxic lets it harshly punish Pokemon that may want to take advantage of it such as Hydreigon, Rotom-W Gastrodon, and Tapu Fini after it has removed its terrain with Defog. Flash Fire is used as it lets Heatran beat Volcarona and Victini.

Specially Defensive Heatran can fit on a wide variety of teams, ranging from offense to bulky balance. Pokemon like Toxapex, Mega Lopunny, and Hydreigon appreciate Heatran's ability to check dangerous Psychic- and Fairy-types like Tapu Lele and Clefable. Heatran is weak to Ground-types like Gliscor, Garchomp, and Gastrodon, so checks to these like Corviknight, Weavile, and Slowbro are good partners for it. Pokemon like Rillaboom, Tapu Lele, and Ash-Greninja appreciate Heatran pressuring opposing Grass- and Steel-types like Tangrowth and Ferrothorn. Good Defoggers like Corviknight and Tapu Fini are good teammates for it as it is annoyed by entry hazards. Entry Hazards. Because of Heatran's weakness to Water-types like Greninja and Tapu Fini, it appreciates having teammates (removed hyphen) that can handle these like Rotom-W, Tapu Fini, Toxapex, and Ferrothorn. Lastly, good switch ins to the Fighting-Types like Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham that revenge kill Heatran like Landorus-T, Zapdos, and Clefable are good partners for it. Grassy Terrain support from Tapu Bulu and Rillaboomer can also give additional passive recovery.

Grassium Z along with Solar Beam can be used, as it can OHKO the Water-Types like Gastrodon and Tapu Fini that check Heatran, but it leaves Heatran with a useless move after it has used the Z move, and also dosent do much to its other checks like Garchomp and Gliscor without Grassy Terrain. Will-O-Wisp can be used on Firium Z and specially defensive sets, as it can burn Pokemon like Garchomp and Gliscor before its Toxic Orb has been activated, and also lets it dodge Sucker Punch to check Bisharp and Mega Mawile even at low Health, and potentially activate Flash Fire against Mega Sableye but it is hard to fit in its moveset. Protect can be used on specially defensive sets to rack up Toxic and Magma Storm chip damage on the likes of Garchomp and Leftovers or Grassy Terrain recovery, and force dangerous mind games with Mega Medicham, but it makes Heatran incredibly abusable, with Pokemon like Landorus-T and Volcarona using it as setup fodder, as well as taking takes up a valuable moveslot. Air Balloon's temporary Ground immunity lets Heatran annoy its Ground-type checks like Gliscor and Garchomp, but the passive recovery Recovery of Leftovers and the nuking ability of Z moves make them generally preferred. Flame Body can be used on any of its sets to burn physical attackers like Weavile and Mega Mawile, while also punishing U-turns (added hyphen) from the likes of Mega Lopunny and Landorus-T, possibly with physical defense investment, but being unable to beat Fire-Types like Volcarona and Victini, and potentially being broken through by Serperior make this generally not preferred. Stone Edge can be used to immediately KO Volcarona while soft checking Mega Charizard Y, but it is very hard to fit. Hidden Power Ice can be used on Timid sets to beat Ground-types like Garchomp and Gliscor without using the Z move, but it takes up a valuable moveslot and doesn't dosent do much to its other checks like Tapu Fini. Sets using Eruption and either Choice Scarf or Choice Specs may seem usable, but these sets are extremely prone to chip damage, forfeit most of Heatrans defensive utility and can be easily pivoted around using bulky Water-types like Toxapex and Tapu Fini.

Checks and Counters
===================

However, Gliscor can be OHKOd by Inferno Overdrive or Corkscrew Crash off Steel Beam, and will lose to Timid Heatran if it is slower, (most if not all gliscs are 279 for heatran rn) while Garchomp is OHKOd by any Corkscrew Crash. Landorus-T can also revenge kill it, but it struggles to switch-in. Ground-type coverage from the likes of Mega Scizor, Kyurem, and Mega Diancie can also severely dent and even OHKO it.

**Water-types**: Bulky Water-types like Tapu Fini, Manaphy, Rotom-Wash, and Gastrodon are great checks to Heatran, as they can tank most of its hits and can beat it with their Water-type STAB moves. However, Tapu Fini fears Corkscrew Crash, while Gastrodon and Rotom-Wash are annoyed by Toxic, and all of them fear Bloom Doom. Offensive Water-types like Greninja and Mega Swampert can revenge kill it, but struggle to switch-in.

**Dragon-Types**: Hydreigon, Mega Latios, and Kommo-o are able to switch-in to Heatran and force it out with super effective moves, but they hate Toxic and Corkscrew Crash, and Kommo-o lacks recovery and so it can be worn down.

However, it is prone to being chipped down, hates getting burned, and is severely severly damaged by Corkscrew Crash.

**Residual damage**: Heatran is prone to being chipped down through entry hazards Entry Hazards, Leech Seed and other forms of chip damage, due to its lack of reliable recovery.

[SET COMMENTS]
Z-move Heatran is an insanely devastating wallbreaker which can beat almost all its checks with the right Z move. Its also one of the most reliable Stealth Rock setters as it can threaten many forms of hazard control such as Kartana and Landorus-T. Corviknight. Its great natural bulk along with its stellar typing means it can act as a great offensive check to the likes of Mega Scizor and Mega Mawile, though its lack of recovery means it can only check these for so long and is very easy to wear down. It is also hindered by its low speed tier, which leaves it outsped by key threats like Gliscor, Tapu Fini and Garchomp. Magma Storm is its main STAB move, used because of its ability to trap threats like Toxapex and Blissey, and inflict chip damage on threats like Garchomp and Tapu Fini. Earth Power provides crucial coverage, hitting Toxapex, Tyranitar, and opposing Heatran. (ttar takes like 2 from epower and just kos w band stone edge or something of the like) Taunt stops passive Pokemon such as Blissey, Toxapex, and Slowbro Slowking (slowking isn't the most meta relevant thing rn) from pivoting out or using a recovery move, letting Heatran overwhelm them. Toxic cripples threats like Mega Latias, Rotom-W, Hydreigon, (much harder to wear down rotom-w as heatran since steel z doesn't bop it as hard, plus drei has been falling off for a while) and Mega Charizard Y, severely ruining their longevity. Though missing out on Taunt ruining bulky walls can be detrimental in some matchups. Stealth Rock can be used as Heatran is a very reliable entry hazard setter, forcing out common forms of entry hazard removal. Firium-Z lets Heatran fire off an insanely powerful Inferno Overdrive, which is 100% accurate and capable of OHKOing most Gliscor and Landorus-T (fixed a hyphen here) sets, and also frees up a moveslot for an extra utility move. It can also use Flash Cannon or Steel Beam along with Steelium Z, as Corkscrew Crash can significantly dent if not outright OHKO common Heatran checks such as Tapu Fini, Hydreigon, and Tyranitar, and lets it soft check Calm Mind Clefable, however it takes up a valuable moveslot. and comes just short of OHKOing Gliscor. (repetitive imo since gliscor falls under the "significantly dent" part) Grassium Z with Solar Beam is another option that allows Heatran to adequately bait and OHKO Tapu Fini and Gastrodon, whilst also heavily chipping Hippowdon. However, it makes Heatran much worse into Calm Mind Clefable and it is unable to punish Gliscor. Steel Beam can be used for its extra power, especially notable against Mega Garchomp, Tapu Fini and Gliscor, and still retains necessary power with Timid, but it leaves Heatran unable to check Calm Mind Clefable and Corkscrew Crash off Flash Cannon also hits these hard. (did u mean that the damage is still similar to flash cannon steel z? if so i'd say something like "Heatran doesn't miss out on any significant damage rolls on these Pokemon.") Flash Fire is used as it lets Heatran check Volcarona, Serperior, and Victini. (there's like zero reason to use flame body so i don't think its necessary to imply that this is just an alternative) The given EV spread lets its survive a + 2 Mega Mawile Sucker Punch from full HP and a Kartana Sacred Sword after Stealth Rocks. A Timid nature let's Heatran outspeed Pokemon like Rillaboom, opposing Heatran (removed comma to accomodate for the last change) and most Gliscor sets, while a Modest nature gives it better damage rolls against Garchomp, Tapu Fini, and faster Gliscor. sets.

Heatran fits best on bulky offense and balance teams. Due to its weakness to Ground-types like Gliscor and Garchomp, it appreciates teammates that can handle these such as Tapu Fini, Slowbro, Corviknight, Tangrowth, and Weavile. Without Grassium Z, it becomes weak to Water-types like Tapu Fini, Gastrodon, and Greninja, so Pokemon that can take advantage of or check these Water-types such as Kartana, Tapu Koko, or Ferrothorn are good partners for it. Pokemon like Tapu Lele, Kartana, and Weavile appreciate Heatran pressuring Steel- and Grass-types like Ferrothorn, Skarmory, Corviknight, Tangrowth, and Mega Scizor, (made these changes so that its more representative of the meta rn) and the latter two can potentially clean up after Heatran has broken holes in teams. Ash-Greninja is a great teammate for Heatran, as it can wear down Heatrans checks with Spikes, and can also help overwhelm shared checks in Tapu Fini and Gastrodon if lacking Grassium Z. Due to its complete lack of recovery, Heatran appreciates having teammates that can remove hazards like Gliscor Corviknight and Tapu Fini. While it can soft check threats like Calm Mind Clefable, Volcarona, and Serperior, it cannot handle these in the long-term due to its lack of recovery, so other checks to these like defensive Volcarona, Corviknight, Toxapex, and Swords Dance Gliscor Mega Scizor are good partners for it. Teammates that appreciate Heatran setting Stealth Rock consistently like Kartana, Calm Mind Clefable, and Gliscor are also good partners. (mentioned this in my amqc check but unless there's some super specific damage roll that changes with rocks up, this is fluff, as most mons benefit from rocks) Heatran also likes partners that can switch into Fighting-Types that can revenge kill Heatran like Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham like Landorus-T, Corviknight, and Zapdos. Grassy Terrain support from the likes of Crapu Bulu and Rillaboom can give it highly appreciated passive recovery and power up its Bloom Doom if using Grassium Z.

[SET COMMENTS]
Specially defensive Heatran is a tank that uses its great typing and natural bulk to check threats like Calm Mind Clefable and Mega Mawile, as well as soft checking Tapu Lele and Volcarona, with Leftovers giving it somewhat consistent recovery while not being passive due to its great Special Attack stat and ability to spread large amounts of chip damage with the likes of Magma Storm and Toxic. However, it is still fairly easy to wear down due to its lack of reliable recovery, and it becomes a lot easier to check without its Z move or Special Attack investment. (ap) Magma Storm is used despite its shaky accuracy as it applies crucial chip damage on threats like Garchomp, while also trapping Pokemon such as Toxapex. Lava Plume can be used for its perfect accuracy and ability to burn Pokemon like Tyranitar and Garchomp, but it's lower Base Power and inability to trap threats like Toxapex mean it is generally not preferred. Earth Power provides important coverage for threats like Toxapex, Mega Diancie, and opposing Heatran. Heatran is a good Stealth Rock setter as it can threaten most Defoggers like Corviknight and Kartana, though it is annoyed by Tapu Fini. **Mega Latias**: Mega Latias can comfortably switch in to anything Heatran does, and has reliable recovery as well. Substitute Mega Latias can also use Heatran as setup fodder. However, Toxic heavily cripples Mega Latias and it should thus be careful upon switching in. Corkscrew Crash can also KO after slight chip and Stealth Rock damage.

Stone Edge can be used to immediately KO Volcarona while soft checking Mega Charizard Y, but it is very hard to fit and Toxic wears both of them down anyways. Hidden Power Ice can be used on Timid sets (nature doesn't make a difference as both are faster, with gliscor running 112+ spe to hit timid tran) to beat Ground-types like Garchomp and Gliscor without using the Z move, but it takes up a valuable moveslot and does not do much to its other checks like Tapu Fini.

===================

**Ground-types and Ground-type coverage**: Ground-types like Gliscor and Garchomp are great checks to Heatran, as they can take most of its hits and OHKO it back with Earthquake. Gliscor in particular is immune to Toxic and has reliable recovery, but while Garchomp has no recovery and is annoyed by Toxic. However, Gliscor can be OHKOd by Inferno Overdrive or Corkscrew Crash off Steel Beam, while Garchomp is OHKOd by any Corkscrew Crash. Landorus-T can also revenge kill it, but it struggles to switch-in. Ground-type coverage from the likes of Mega Scizor, Kyurem, and Mega Diancie can also severely dent or OHKO it.

**Dragon-Types**: Hydreigon, Mega Latios, and Kommo-o are able to switch-in to Heatran and force it out with super effective moves, but they hate Toxic and Corkscrew Crash, and Kommo-o lacks recovery and so it can be worn down.

**Fighting-types and Fighting-type coverage**: Fighting-types like Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham can revenge kill Heatran, but they cannot switch-in. Fighting-type coverage from the likes of Kartana and Tapu Lele also threaten it.

**Tyranitar**: Tyranitar can take most of Heatrans hits due to its immense special bulk while under sand, and either Pursuit trap it or hit it for great damage with its STAB or coverage moves. However, it is prone to being chipped down, hates getting burned by alternative options like Lava Plume or Will-O-Wisp, and is severely damaged by Corkscrew Crash.

**Residual damage**: Heatran is prone to being chipped down through Entry Hazards, Leech Seed and other forms of chip damage, due to its lack of reliable recovery.

Z-move Heatran is an insanely devastating wallbreaker which can beat almost all its checks with the right Z move. Its also one of the most reliable Stealth Rock setters as it can threaten many forms of hazard control such as Kartana and Landorus-T. Though missing out on Taunt ruining bulky walls can be detrimental in some matchups. Stealth Rock can be used as Heatran is a very reliable entry hazard setter, forcing out common forms of entry hazard removal. Firium-Z lets Heatran fire off an insanely powerful Inferno Overdrive, which is 100% accurate and capable of OHKOing most Gliscor and Landorus-T sets, and also frees up a moveslot for an extra utility move. <- mention losing out on toxic which makes it harder to wear down washtom. Grassium Z with Solar Beam is another option that allows Heatran to adequately bait and OHKO Tapu Fini and Gastrodon, whilst also heavily chipping Hippowdon. However, it makes Heatran much worse into Calm Mind Clefable and it is unable to punish Gliscor. Steel Beam can be used for its extra power, especially notable against Mega Garchomp, Tapu Fini and Gliscor, and still retains necessary power with Timid, but it leaves Heatran unable to check Calm Mind Clefable. Flash Fire is used as it lets Heatran check Volcarona, Serperior, and Victini. The given EV spread lets its survive a + 2 Mega Mawile Sucker Punch from full HP and a Kartana Sacred Sword after Stealth Rocks. A Timid nature let's Heatran outspeed Pokemon like opposing Heatran and most Gliscor sets, while a Modest nature gives it better damage rolls against Garchomp, Tapu Fini, and Gliscor.

Heatran fits best on bulky offense and balance teams. Due to its weakness to Ground-types like Gliscor and Garchomp, it appreciates teammates that can handle these such as Tapu Fini, Slowbro, and Weavile. Without Grassium Z, it becomes weak to Water-types like Tapu Fini, Gastrodon, and Rotom-W, Greninja, so Pokemon that can take advantage of or check these Water-types such as Kartana, Tapu Koko, or Ferrothorn are good partners for it. Pokemon like Tapu Lele, Kartana, and Weavile appreciate Heatran pressuring Steel- and Grass-types like Ferrothorn, Skarmory, and Mega Scizor, and the latter two can potentially clean up after Heatran has broken holes in teams. Ash-Greninja is a great teammate for Heatran, as it can wear down Heatrans checks with Spikes, and can also help overwhelm shared checks in Tapu Fini and Gastrodon if Heatran is lacking Grassium Z. Due to its vulnerability to entry hazards and complete lack of recovery, Heatran appreciates having teammates that can remove hazards like Gliscor and Tapu Fini. While it can soft check threats like Calm Mind Clefable, Volcarona, and Serperior, it cannot handle these in the long-term due to its lack of recovery, so other checks to these like defensive Volcarona, Toxapex, and Swords Dance Gliscor are good partners for it. Heatran also likes partners that can switch into Fighting-Types that can revenge kill Heatran like Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham like Landorus-T (rc) and Zapdos. Grassy Terrain support from the likes of Crapu Bulu and Rillaboom can give it highly appreciated passive recovery and power up its Bloom Doom if using Grassium Z.

[SET COMMENTS]
Specially defensive Heatran is a tank that uses its great typing and natural bulk to check threats like Calm Mind Clefable, Mega Mawile, Tapu Lele, and Volcarona, with Leftovers giving it somewhat consistent recovery while not being passive due to its great Special Attack stat and ability to spread large amounts of chip damage with the likes of Magma Storm and Toxic. However, it is still fairly easy to wear down due to its lack of reliable recovery, and it becomes a lot easier to check without its Z move or Special Attack investment. Magma Storm applies crucial chip damage on threats like Garchomp and Tapu Fini, while also trapping Pokemon such as Toxapex. Heavy Slam can be used as it lets Heatran deal with Calm Mind Clefable much better while doing good chip damage to Tapu Fini. Taunt lets Heatran beat passive Pokemon like Toxapex (rc) and Slowbro. Toxic lets it harshly punish Pokemon that may want to take advantage of it such as Mega Latias, Gastrodon, and Rotom-W. Flash Fire is used as it lets Heatran beat Volcarona and Victini.

Specially Defensive Heatran can fit on a wide variety of teams, ranging from offense to bulky balance. Weavile in particular provides crucial Knock Off support that makes Tapu Fini easier to wear down. Pokemon like Tapu Lele and Ash-Greninja appreciate Heatran pressuring opposing Grass- and Steel-types like Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn. Good Defoggers like Gliscor and Tapu Fini are good teammates for it as it is annoyed by entry hazards. Entry Hazards. Because of Heatran's weakness to Water-types like Ash-Greninja and Tapu Fini, it appreciates having teammates that can handle these like Tapu Fini, Toxapex, and Ferrothorn. Lastly, good switch ins to the Fighting-Types like Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham that revenge kill Heatran like Landorus-T, Zapdos, and Clefable are good partners for it.

Protect can be used on specially defensive sets to rack up Toxic and Magma Storm chip damage on the likes of Garchomp, as well as rack up Leftovers and Grassy Terrain recovery, and force dangerous mind games with Mega Medicham, but it makes Heatran incredibly abusable, with Pokemon like Garchomp and Volcarona using it as setup fodder, and takes up a valuable moveslot. Air Balloon's temporary Ground immunity lets Heatran annoy its Ground-type checks like Gliscor and Garchomp, but the passive recovery of Leftovers and the nuking ability of Z moves make them generally preferred. Flash Cannon gives Heatran a usable move even after using its Z-Move Z-move to pressure Calm Mind Clefable, but it is significantly weaker. However, both of these options prevent Heatran from running an additional utility move. Heatran can also use Firium Z to fire off an insanely powerful Inferno Overdrive, which OHKOes is capable of OHKOing most Gliscor and Landorus-T sets and , and also frees up a moveslot for an extra utility move; however, outside of a strong STAB nuke, (ac) it doesn't let Heatran break past checks like Gastrodon and Tapu Fini. Flash Fire is used, (ac) as it lets Heatran check Volcarona, Serperior, and Victini. The given EV spread lets Heatran its survive a +2 (removed space between + and 2) Mega Mawile Sucker Punch from full HP and a Kartana Sacred Sword after Stealth Rock Rocks. A Timid nature lets (removed apostrophe) Heatran outspeed Pokemon like opposing Heatran and most Gliscor sets, while a Modest nature gives it better damage rolls against Garchomp, Tapu Fini, and Gliscor.

Heatran fits best on bulky offense and balance teams. Due to its weakness to Ground-types like Gliscor and Garchomp, it appreciates teammates that can handle these, (ac) such as Tapu Fini, Slowbro, and Weavile. Heatran is generally weak to Water-types like Tapu Fini, Gastrodon, and Rotom-W, so Pokemon that can take advantage of or check these Water-types such as Kartana, Tapu Koko, and or Ferrothorn are good partners for it. Pokemon like Tapu Lele, Kartana, and Weavile appreciate Heatran pressuring Steel- and Grass-types like Ferrothorn, Skarmory, and Mega Scizor, and the latter two can potentially clean up after Heatran has broken holes in teams. Ash-Greninja is a great teammate for Heatran, as it can wear down Heatran's (added apostrophe) checks with Spikes (rc) and can also help overwhelm or lure shared checks in Tapu Fini and Gastrodon if Heatran is lacking Grassium Z. Due to its vulnerability to entry hazards and complete lack of recovery, Heatran appreciates having teammates that can remove hazards, (ac) like Gliscor and Tapu Fini. While it can soft check threats like Calm Mind Clefable, Volcarona, and Serperior, it cannot handle these in the long-term due to its lack of recovery, so other checks to these like defensive Volcarona, Toxapex, and Swords Dance Gliscor are good partners for it. Heatran also likes partners that can switch into Fighting-types, like Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham, Fighting-Types that can revenge kill Heatran, (ac) like Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham like Landorus-T and Zapdos. Grassy Terrain support from the likes of Tapu Bulu and Rillaboom can give it highly appreciated passive recovery and power up its Bloom Doom if using Grassium Z.

move 3: Stealth Rock / Taunt / Heavy Slam
move 4: Taunt / Toxic
item: Leftovers
ability: Flash Fire

[SET COMMENTS]
Specially defensive Heatran is a tank that uses its great typing and natural bulk to check threats like Calm Mind Clefable, Mega Mawile, Tapu Lele, and Volcarona, with Leftovers giving it consistent recovery while not being passive due to its great Special Attack stat and ability to spread large amounts of chip damage with the likes of Magma Storm and Toxic. However, it is still fairly easy to wear down due to its lack of reliable recovery, and it becomes a lot easier to check without a Z-Move its Z move or Special Attack investment. Magma Storm applies crucial chip damage on threats like Garchomp and Tapu Fini (rc) while also trapping Pokemon such as Toxapex. Alternatively, Lava Plume can be used for its perfect accuracy and ability to burn Pokemon like Tyranitar and Garchomp, but its (removed apostrophe) lower Base Power and inability to trap threats like Toxapex mean it is generally not preferred. Earth Power provides important coverage for threats like Toxapex, Mega Diancie, and opposing Heatran. Heatran is a good Stealth Rock setter, (ac) as it can threaten most Defoggers like Corviknight and Kartana, though it is annoyed by ones like Tapu Fini. Heavy Slam can be used to as it lets Heatran deal with Calm Mind Clefable much better while doing good chip damage to Tapu Fini. Taunt lets Heatran beat passive Pokemon like Toxapex and Slowbro. Toxic lets it harshly punish Pokemon that may want to take advantage of it such as Mega Latias, Gastrodon, and Rotom-W. Flash Fire is used, (ac) as it lets Heatran beat Volcarona and Victini.

Specially Defensive Heatran can fit on a wide variety of teams, ranging from offense to bulky balance. Weavile, in particular, (commas) provides crucial Knock Off support that makes Tapu Fini easier to wear down. Pokemon like Tapu Lele and Ash-Greninja appreciate Heatran pressuring opposing Grass- and Steel-types like Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn. Good Defoggers like Gliscor and Tapu Fini are good teammates for it, (ac) as it is annoyed by entry hazards. (added space) Because of Heatran's weakness to Water-types like Ash-Greninja and Tapu Fini, it appreciates having teammates that can handle these, (ac) like Tapu Fini, Toxapex, and Ferrothorn. Good switch-ins Lastly, good switch ins to the Fighting-types that revenge kill Heatran, Fighting-Types like Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham, (ac) are good partners for it, that revenge kill Heatran like Landorus-T, Zapdos, and Clefable. (ap) are good partners for it.

Will-O-Wisp can be used on Firium Z and specially defensive sets, as it can burn Pokemon like Garchomp and Gliscor before its Toxic Orb has been activated, and also lets it dodge Sucker Punch to check Bisharp and Mega Mawile even at low Health, and potentially activate Flash Fire against Mega Sableye; (added semicolon) however, but it is hard to fit in its moveset. Protect can be used on specially defensive sets to rack up Toxic and Magma Storm chip damage on the likes of Garchomp, as well as rack up Leftovers and Grassy Terrain recovery (rc) and force dangerous mind games with Mega Medicham, but it makes Heatran incredibly easy to take advantage of, abusable, with Pokemon like Garchomp and Volcarona using it as setup fodder, as well as it taking and takes up a valuable moveslot. Air Balloon's temporary Ground immunity lets Heatran annoy its Ground-type checks like Gliscor and Garchomp, but the passive recovery of Leftovers and the nuking ability of Z-Moves Z moves make them generally preferred. Flame Body can be used on any of its sets to burn physical attackers like Weavile and Mega Mawile (rc) while also punishing U-turns (added hyphen) from the likes of Mega Lopunny and Landorus-T, possibly with physical defense investment, but being unable to beat Fire-types Fire-Types like Volcarona and Victini (rc) and potentially being broken through by Serperior make this generally not preferred. Stone Edge can be used to immediately KO Volcarona while soft checking Mega Charizard Y, but it is very hard to fit and Toxic wears both of them down anyways. Hidden Power Ice can be used to beat Ground-types like Garchomp and Gliscor without using the Z-Move, Z move, but it takes up a valuable moveslot and does not do much to its other checks like Tapu Fini. Sets using Eruption and either Choice Scarf or Choice Specs may seem usable, but these sets are extremely prone to chip damage, forfeit most of Heatran's defensive utility, (ac) and can be easily pivoted around using bulky Water-types like Toxapex and Tapu Fini.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types and Ground-type Coverage coverage**: Ground-types like Gliscor and Garchomp are great checks to Heatran, as they can take most of its hits and OHKO it back with Earthquake. Gliscor, in particular, (commas) is immune to Toxic and has reliable recovery, but Garchomp has no recovery and is annoyed by Toxic. However, Gliscor can be OHKOed OHKOd by Inferno Overdrive or Corkscrew Crash off Steel Beam, while Garchomp is OHKOed OHKOd by any form of Corkscrew Crash. Landorus-T can also revenge kill it, but it struggles to switch in (removed hyphen).

(removed hyphen)

**Mega Latias**: Mega Latias can comfortably switch in to most of what Heatran does (rc) and has reliable recovery as well.

**Tyranitar**: Tyranitar can take most of Heatran's (added apostrophe) hits due to its immense special bulk while under sand, and either Pursuit trap it or hit it for great damage with its STAB or coverage moves. However, it is prone to being chipped down, hates getting burned by alternative options like Lava Plume or Will-O-Wisp, and is severely damaged by Corkscrew Crash.

**Residual Damage damage**: Heatran is prone to being chipped down through entry hazards Entry Hazards, Leech Seed, (ac) and other forms of chip damage, due to its lack of reliable recovery.

Z-Move Z-move Heatran is an insanely devastating wallbreaker that which can beat almost all its checks with the right Z-Move. Z move. It's (added apostrophe) also one of the most reliable Stealth Rock setters, (ac) as it can threaten many forms of entry hazard control such as Kartana and Landorus-T. Its great natural bulk along with its stellar typing means it can act as a great offensive check to the likes of Mega Scizor and Mega Mawile, though its lack of recovery means it can only check these for so long and is very easy to wear down. It is also hindered by its low Speed speed tier, which leaves it outsped by key threats like Gliscor, Tapu Fini, (ac) and Garchomp. Magma Storm traps is its main STAB move, used because of its ability to trap threats like Toxapex and Blissey (rc) and inflicts inflict chip damage on threats like Garchomp and Tapu Fini. However, Though missing out on Taunt ruining bulky walls can be detrimental in some matchups. Stealth Rock can be used as Heatran is a very reliable entry hazard setter, forcing out common forms of entry hazard removal. Grassium Z with Solar Beam is the primary combination, option as it allows Heatran to adequately bait and OHKO Tapu Fini, Rotom-W, (ac) and Gastrodon while , whilst also heavily chipping Garchomp and Mega Tyranitar. However, it makes Heatran much worse into Calm Mind Clefable and it is unable to punish Gliscor as well.
