Description of New Abilities: No new abilities

Description of New Moves: Two new toys, with Close Combat and Brave Bird, are both far more consistent than its previous STABs, High Jump Kick and Acrobatics. No missing with High Jump Kick is a huge boost to Hawlucha, and helps ease the guessing pressure against Ghost types. Brave Bird doesn’t need Unburden, allowing it to run a Mold Breaker set while still having access to a powerful Flying move.

Dynamaxing potential:
-With its remaining fantastic abilities in Unburden/Mold Breaker in combination with general power level decrease and Dynamax, Hawlucha has become a terrifying sweeper in the 3 vs 3 format.
-Fighting Type Max Move attacks increase Attack stat by one stage, allowing Hawlucha to snowball out of control and no longer needing to choose between boosting and clicking attacks..
-Flying Type Max Move attacks increase Speed stat by one stage, making this Pokemon outspeed literally everything after a +1 speed. Also means Unburden isn't completely necessarily, like in previous generations.
-With any level of boosts, Mold Breaker Hawlucha eviscerates its traditional check, Mimikyu. +1 Brave Bird kills Mimikyu in one hit.

Potential Movesets

Life Orb Sweeper
Hawlucha @ Life Orb
Ability: Mold Breaker
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Brave Bird
- U-Turn/Taunt/Encore/Coverage Move
- Swords Dance

This is the set I see myself using the most. If you ever get this guy out against a slow pokemon, it sweeps on Dynamax very easily. Coverage moves are team dependent, but most likely going to be Poison Jab/Stone Edge.

Unburden Sweeper
Hawlucha @ Psychic Seed/Sitrus Berry
Ability: Unburden
Level: 50
EVs: 68 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 184 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Acrobatics
- Zen Headbutt/Substitute
- Swords Dance

With Psychic Seed (with Indeedee as auto-setter teammate), Hawlucha can immediately get the Unburden boost. Running Zen Headbutt allows you to take advantage of the damage boost and sets psychic terrain in a pinch with Dynamax. If going Sitrus Berry, Substitute is needed to auto-activate the Unburden boost after 2 subs. Speed is designed to outspeed +1 Dragapult after Unburden is activated, HP for activation on two subs.

Other comments
-Aegislash is going to be the biggest barrier to Hawlucha's viability. It has no way of touching it, however, U-turn can help keep momentum and scout an Aegislash switch-in.
-Other threats include Quagsire, Rotom-W/H.
-Might be the easiest sweeper to set up in the game, with a high initial speed tier and a STAB resisted by few.
-It is frail, however, but not enough to be picked off by priority, outside of maybe 2 or more Ice Shards. Brave Bird usage augments the frailty slightly more
-A Bulk-up/Roost set is possible to set up on weaker attackers, especially if using Terrain Seeds to give further defensive stat boosts.

Hiya, first post here.... hope I'm allowed to reply to this! I just wanted to share this set I've been having a ton of fun with.

power Herb
Ability: Unburden
Jolly / max attk/spd
- Sky Attack
- Acrobatics
- Close Combat
- Swords Dance

Sky Attack is a surprise huge hit and also your setup move, giving you effectively +2 speed although it doesn't actually display onscreen or count as a stat boost in the in-game inspector, which is extra sneaky. It's a great way to get a surprise KO, and then you an dynamax to keep the boost train rolling with max knuckles + airstreams. It's WAY more efficient than the substitute unburden set.

My Hawlucha has the following Set.

Item: Electric Seed
Ability: Unburden
Evs: 76 Speed / 252 Atk / 180 Hp
Nature: Adamant

Moves: Sword Dance / Acrobatics / Close Combat / Iron Head

Speed is to outspeed Scarf Adamant / Modest Dragapult
Iron Head is good to flinch bulky Fairies. The Rest is obvious.
As Partner I chose Pinchurchin because it knows Memento.
