Granny Pie vs TMan: flavored edition

Granny's team:

Aurumoth [Aurum] (Female)
"The voice of reason is small, but very persistent."
GP first met Aurum when she was still a little Cupra. His mom was stomping around the house and screaming about a "GIANT MONSTER COCKROACH". GP saved Aurum from the blind fury of his mom's stomping slippers, and they've been friends ever since. Aurum's mild nature really evens out GP's jolliness and energy, and she remains to this day the voice on his head saying "Y'know, this probably isn't a great idea." Even though Aurum is a huge support, and the voice of reason for many of her friends, she was fairly self-concious, with a deep-seated disgust for her own appearance, probably coming from the whole "monster cockroach" incident. She hid it well, but had often disguised herself as other, prettier Pokemon, and had always wanted to evolve, hoping that she might blossom into a Pokemon worthy of other's admiration.
Now in her final stage, a newfound confidence is beginning to rise in her, and she is much more proud of her own beauty, so much so that she is a little loathe to hide it behind an Illusion.

Types: Bug/Psychic
Bug: STAB; Adds an additional guaranteed attack on all multi-hit moves (does not include two hit moves) with a total hit cap of five (5).
Psychic: STAB; can lift and throw opponents with Psychic regardless of Special Attack Rank. Psychic-type attacks are not godlike and cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.
Abilities:
Weak Armor
(Toggle) By default the Pokemon loosens its worn defensive armor so that it will break off when an opponent uses a contact attack, reducing the Pokemon's Defense by one (1) stage for each hit and increasing their Speed by two (2) stages for each hit. When toggled, no effect.
No Guard (Passive) This Pokemon has an immense confidence from perfecting each of its attacks, giving them all perfect accuracy as well as ignoring the effects of Double Team, evasive moves, Dodge, Sky Drop, and evasive damaging moves. As a result, it feels it can weather every strike, and will not dodge an attack even if ordered to. Only when an OHKO move is issued by the opponent does the Pokemon sense return, and the Pokemon acts normally. Additionally, even with their extra skill, the power and exhaustion involved in using OHKO moves prevents them from being benefited by No Guard; they will have their normal accuracy.
Light Metal (Hidden) (Passive) (Unlocked) The Pokemon's body is made of a lightweight but extremely strong alloy. It weighs half as much as other members of the species, but is equally sturdy. The Pokemon executes weak attacks much more effectively, adding +1 priority to all their attacks with 6 or less Base Attack Power (after other ability adjustments). Light Metal assumes the maximum possible hits from a multi-hit move for the purposes of priority (e.g. Double Kick gets priority as it reaches 6 BAP, Bullet Seed does not get priority as it reaches 15 BAP).

Lucario [Scrappy] (Male)
"Be brave! Be the bravest ever!"
Scrappy is GP's first Pokemon, and best friend for life. Scrappy and GP are almost complete mirrors of each other, and seemed destined to be together from their first meeting, that fateful day in the ancient Sinnoh rock quarry... But that's another story for another time! Now it's time for fun! Scrappy is an incredibly energetic Pokemon, as well as very trusting towards anyone he meets. He's a simple Pokemon, really. He does what's fun, he does what's right, and is always working to cheer up his friends when they feel down. He's playful, boisterous, and a self-titled "White Knight". All in all, Scrappy is in it for the fun, and for the good of others, and will always be there to put a smile on your face and defend you from your greatest fears. And for the scarves. Dude, he loves scarves.

Fighting: STAB; ignore weight restrictions on Circle Throw, Seismic Toss, Sky Drop, Storm Throw, Submission, and Vital Throw.

Volcarona [Coloratura] (Female)
"This song may be familiar, but yet, it's totally different. Kind of like me."
Coloratura was always an odd, somewhat contradictory Pokemon. Even her typing is a contradiction. (I mean, c'mon. Imagine a bug on fire. Not a pretty sight.) Coloratura is always seeking fame and attention from big crowds, but is quite modest, and even a little shy when you meet her face-to-face. Nevertheless, she has lots of confidence, and a burning desire to put on a show for her fans. But she has no greater love than that towards her friends and family, with her intense Unova patriotism coming in close second. She and GP still remain in the Sinnoh Pokemon Contest Hall of Fame, their nomination there being inspired by both their strong connection to each other, and Coloratura's incredible shows with her surprisingly beautiful voice (yes, bugs can sing), waving fire, and air-rippling Bug Buzzes. Just know that when Coloratura wants to put on a show, she really puts on a show.

Weavile [Shizune Hakamichi] (Female)
"Can you tell me what you think?"
Shizune is not the typical Weavile. Born deaf, she has relied on nonverbal communication and deception note than the others she was raised alongside. Just think: how is a Sneasel meant to catch prey when she cannot hear it? The solution was to deceive said prey into a false sense of security, believing that this deaf Sneasel was no threat. Then she leads it into a trap or an ambush, instantly incapacitating the surprised prey. Shizune's intelligent and efficient hunting techniques and her natural assertiveness and competitive nature disposed her towards a leadership position of sorts among her peers. But when the time came for the Sneasels to separate from their mothers, Shizune found herself alone. Venturing south from the snowy plains around Snowpoint City in Sinnoh, Shizune was following flashes through the frost-covered evergreens, hoping to find a fight. She hoped to find and overpower two weakened wild Pokemon, but would've settled with stealing from a distracted trainer. Surprisingly, she came across a pair of sparring trainers. She watched a Haunter dart around a Roselia, sucking the Roselia's life force while fighting off vines covering it's own body. And so Shizune hid behind a frosted tree trunk, watching and waiting.
At one of the trainer's sides, however, a Duosion, not apart of the match, but still accompanying her trainer, sensed an outside presence near the battle. She idly wandered towards it, curious, while bobbing up and down and humming. Shizune, focused on the battle, did not notice this Duosion, as she couldn't hear the humming, until a voice erupted into her head. "Hi~!! I'm Misha! Who are you~?" Shizune immediately jumped, shocked senseless by this mental shouting. Shizune didn't question it until later, but this Duosion could communicate with her, and had accidentally given her her first ever experience hearing language, if you could call it hearing. Shizune would later describe it as "a thought that had a different voice from mine". Off-guard, and trying to play off Misha's possible suspicion, Shizune began using her bodily communications to introduce herself to this Duosion, subconsciously running the words she was saying through her head. Daft as she is, Misha soon figured out that this Sneasel was not like most Pokemon. "I'm deaf," Shizune thought and signed. "I have been my whole life." Fascinated, Misha launched imto overdrive, asking Shizune every single question about her life as you could imagine. As Misha barraged Shizune with questions about her life, the match wrapped up, and the two trainers came over to see why the Duosion was making such a commotion, even more commotion than usual. When GP and Shizune saw each other from behind the trunk, they both recognized each other somehow, in the way you do when you just see a Pokemon for the first time and know that it should be your's, or when you see a person for the first time and you both just know that you're going to be best friends. As TMan strolled over, asking Misha what the matter was, GP tossed a Dusk Ball Shizune's way, and she caught it, flashing into it with a sense of belonging, almost. When Shizune came out of the Dusk Ball, GP and TMan introduced her to their own accompanying Pokemon, a task that would have been much more difficult had Misha not been there to read Shizune's thoughts and act as a sort of Psychic translator.
There is a certain level of respect that Shizune holds for each member of GP's team, and that level of mutual respect is the foundation of Shizune's opinions.
Scrappy likes her, viewing her as another tough, but possibly sensitive girl to White Knight. She doesn't like Scrappy's protective attitude towards her, but appreciates his attention.
Aurum cares for her, but understands how independent Shizune is. Shizune respects Aurum and her boundaries, but does become aggravated at Aurum's occasional motherly acts.
Shizune does not respect nor like Abigail, despite their similar predispositions. Abigail understands that, but doesn't really care. She'd rather smoke weed.
But Misha... Shizune cares for Misha most of all. Misha is the only one regularly allowed into Shizune's mind, and the two have bonded on a level deeper than most others, given that they both share their minds with each other on a regular basis. The two try to be near each other as much as they can, which is relatively easy, given TMan and GP's close travels. Heck, if one of them is to go off somewhere, they often leave their half of the pairing for the other to watch over, just so Shizune and Misha can be together. Shizune and Misha, from that first fateful encounter, are now irreversibly tied together. Confidants, conspirers, and friends.

Types: Dark/Ice
Dark: Dark STAB; ignores Attract and Confusion status entirely when using Dark-type damaging and non-damaging attacks. Immune to all status moves used by a Pokemon with the Prankster ability (as well as all moves summoned by a Prankster-boosted non-damaging move).

Type Exclusive commands can only be used by Pokemon that are naturally that type, and are still available if the Pokemon changes type.
Command Type: Type Exclusive | Accuracy: -- | Energy Cost: 5 | Priority: 0 | CT: None
Abilities:

Pickpocket: (Trigger) (Hidden) (Unlocked) This Pokemon's mischievous nature and greed make it very effective at pawning off an opponents item. If this Pokemon has no item and either it or the opposing Pokemon strikes with a contact attack, their item is stolen and becomes the held item of this Pokemon.

Tomohawk [Deck Knight] (Male)
The year is 2018. A shipwreck has left Granny Pie stranded, alone on a beach, dying. He wavers in and out of consciousness over the few days, watching the Mandibuzzes creep closer and closer every time he musters the strength to open his eyes. The last thing he sees is the foul vultures descending upon him, as another shape bursts from the tropical treeline. It all fades to black.
When GP reawakens, he's in a small cave with a wide entrance, letting in a surprising amount of. light. A small rivulet runs through the stone next to him, but his strength fades once more as all he can do is breathe and watch the running water. The sound of fluttering feathers ruffles into the cave, and GP realizes that the foul birds must have taken him away to eat him later as he closes his eyes and waits for the end. He's surprised when a soft hand cups his mouth and pours cool water into it. Granny Pie coughs at the unexpected intrusion and sees a Tomohawk pulling its feathered hand away to cup some more water from the rivulet. This time, the Tomohawk lifts Granny Pie's head before cupping the water into his mouth, water that GP drinks thirstily. After a few more cups, Tomohawk puts GP's head back down, and flutters back out the cave entrance, leaving Granny Pie with only more questions and an uncontrollable tiredness.
For the next week, this Tomohawk helped Granny Pie recover, feeding and nursing him back to health. As GP regained the power to talk, he began to ask questions. "Where am I?" "Who are you?" "Why are you helping me?" "Where are my Pokemon?" All that met him was silence and an oddly cold, analytical stare. Until eventually, GP was healthy and ready to go. He found his backpack at the front of the entrance of the cave, nearly torn to shreds by whatever shipwrecked him and sent him to this desolate beach. He put the backpack back on, but it was just as Granny Pie feared: All of his Pokeballs and Items were gone. He'd lost everything. "I need to find my Pokemon," he said to the Tomohawk clearing rocks from the mouth of the cave. It looked up at him, staring through GP's soul. "They mean everything to me, and I've lost them." He pauses. "I need to get them back. Can you help me? Please." The Tomohawk blinked slowly, and then flapped its way onto GP's shouler, gripping his shirt with its claws. Granny Pie let out a soft snort of amusement, and asked "What can I call you? 'Tomohawk' just feels so impersonal." The Tomohawk cocked its head, and reached around Granny Pie's back, into his torn bag, pulling out a small, damp scrap of paper. It was from Granny Pie's Trainer Contacts book, and all that was left was part of a name: "Deck Kn". "So Deck, huh? You like that?" Tomohawk's frown never wavered, but his head bobbed as thought to nod. "Alright, Deck. Let's do this."
Types: Flying/Fighting
Flying: STAB; immunity to Ground attacks and the Arena Trap Ability except under the effects of Smack Down and Gravity, even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Unaffected by Spikes or Toxic Spikes. when switching in. Able to hit Pokemon in the evasive stage of Bounce, Fly or Sky Drop with single target moves tagged as #Reach.
Fighting: STAB; ignore weight restrictions on Circle Throw, Seismic Toss, Sky Drop, Storm Throw, Submission, and Vital Throw.

Command: Activate Intimidate - 5 En - Lowers all foes' Attack (and adjusting the natural stage) by one (1) stage. Only usable if a foe entered play this round.
Prankster (Passive) The Pokemon is always prepared for engaging in sneaky tactics and trickery, giving its non-damaging attacks a +1 increase in priority level. Dark-types are immune to all non-damaging attacks (as well as all moves summoned by a non-damaging move) used by a Pokémon with this ability.
Justified (Hidden) (Passive) This Pokemon's body reacts to dark energy, invigorating its passions. When hit by a Dark-type move, the Pokémon's Attack will increase one (1) stage (adjusting the natural stage).

VERSUS
TMan's team:

Stubborn? Maybe. Sturdy? Definitely. ZhengTann (ZT for short) has had plenty of time to harden that hide and slowly build experience... though it's a wonder he's still a Rhyhorn if that's the case. On the chill side of the Chill v. Hyperactive Scale of the team, he likes to hang out around Kévin and the two are often seen having meaningful and profound conversations together. In battle, he's a rounded character, having average offenses and defenses, though there's still much potential to awaken...
ZT as a Rhydon is pretty much the same: stubborn and going straight in, though he now packs a serious punch. Going from quadrupede to bipede allows him to stand his ground much better, and he uses his arms to great effect in conjunction with his deadly horn. But, you know, there's still something lacking...
And BOOM! Here it is, ZhengTann, King of all Rhyhorns and Rhydons. While this evolution didn't really boost his stats, getting Solid Rock further cements his status as a rock-solid wall that will stop you in your tracks if you can't muscle past him. He brushed up his offense a bit, getting all sorts of coverage to take you down while you hopelessly try to scratch him. Outside of battle though, he's a nice fellow, kinda grumpy but still willing to take care of stuff should you ask him nicely enough. He and Kévin often train together and they are said to unleash incredible destructive power during their sparring sessions.

Believe it or not, Suleiman was actually a human once. At least, that's what he claims. According to his story, he sailed the sea to find the rarest of treasures to bring back to the love of his life, never content with the pitiful gems and paltry wonders he was finding. He was looking for the ultimate present, you see? Well, one day, while he was looking for more treasure, a storm took his ship by surprise and sank it. His desire of completing his quest got mixed with the surrounding water and voilà! A fresh Frillish, wondering what was happening to him. Quite the strange and unbelievable story, but it is true he knows the seven seas like no one else.
Don't let his goofy looks fool you: Suleiman is now a real sea dweller like few can hope to be. He frantically trying to discover both his ultimate prize and how he came to be had him travel across the entire globe (I had Shizune keep an eye on the guy, wouldn't want him to get lost) and his photographic memory serves him well when it's time to battle. He tries to get the opponent on his home field to unleash a wide variety of tricks upon them, some being rather... weirdly cruel. Fitting for a ghost born of unsatisfied desires, I guess. Though, he still hasn't found why he is like this, nor did he come across a treasure worth bringing back, so he sticks around for now.

Alternis Dim brings the heat and is super dedicated towards training. Taking a literal spin on "blazing spirit", his energy surprised even Kamina, the team's supercharged drill sergeant. Being strong is only a means to an end for Alternis, as he wishes to one day become strong enough to withstand anything fate could throw at him, for his sake and his companions'. To that end, it's not unusual to see him enduring hellish training daily, whereas some other team members would simply go home and get a treat. Kamina swore to make him is second in command should he evolve and reach the level of strength he so desires.
His training finally paid off (or maybe it was when he found that Fire Stone while exploring a cave), and now he's all evolved and ready to burn down opposition. He has a habit of charging in, and any resistance he encounters only strenghtens his will and fire mastery. He did gain a few tools to better fight a wider variety of opponents, but he still relies on Overheat and Flare Blitz more than anything else, putting everything he has into the fight. Many in the team voiced their concerns, emphasizing his lack of consideration for his own well-being, but he still abides by his style. As promised, he is also Kamina's second-in-command, so new team members get two hypermotivated coaches instead of one.

Nanachi is a cute little thing that wants nothing more than living a soothing life, far from the agitation of the city. However, things weren't all smooth for the Eevee. Forced away from her family, she had to fight daily for food and often had to sleep on an empty stomach. Given her rather weak constitution as an Eevee, she also was sometimes attacked by stronger Pokémon and forced to flee. All of these combined easily explain why she was so wary of us, but the smell of dinner and a few attentionate team members (mostly Lilly and Agnès, Misha would've been too obnoxious and scared her away) and she was firmly decided to join us. Better than roaming the world alone, I guess. I wonder what she'll evolve into?
As a Leafeon, Nanachi is much more deadly. Her natural affinity with nature made her a remarkable master of plant-based mixtures, be they the poison or the cure. Her troubled youth granted her above average toughness, and she outclasses fellow Eeveelution Daraen by having more interesting moves at her disposal. Ultimately she's still much of the same character though, and likes sunbathing and a quiet environment. She's still a curious being and will often try to peek at whatever unusual event happens in the camp, even if she will fiercely deny she was curious. She very well intends to stand her own ground from now on!

This one has a bit of a backstory. You see, after the events in Alola, the Aether Foundation was undergoing a massive restructuration to clean up every corrupt member. Well, while that turned out well, some of these members managed to retreat back to a secondary base in Akala and overtake it, laying their hands on some of the research material and equipment there was there. Secretly, they managed to create another Ultra Wormhole and lured a Nihilego out before catching it to experiment on.
They slipped up though, and got noticed. Guess who was sent there to burst through the base and save the day? Yup, the dream team and I. After a bit of spring cleaning, we finally managed to rescue the Pokémon. However, that was only the beginning. Every Psychic-type in the band tried to establish telepathic contact, and every one got left shaking in absolute terror. They still refuse to tell me what they saw to this day. Nevertheless, they were very clear in that we needed to take Nihilego away from this place, and since carrying it around in Alola wasn't the best idea, I just caught it, swearing to protect it from harm. It's slowly recovering from its trauma as of now. Without a defined name, we just called it "Subject N".
Subject N's behavior is kind of a mystery since it can't talk, can telepatically communicate but does it only exceptionally, and I don't want to make Misha et al. try again at telepathy. It's pretty docile by itself, but its lack of control with its neurotoxin means you'll get aggressive if you stay close to it for a long time. Rin doesn't seem to be affected though, and Subject N is often seen following her around, expressing what may be curiosity.

We've got our share of silent buddies here, what with most quiet or meditating team members, but this one might take the cake. Butler doesn't talk if not absolutely necessary. He lets his actions speak for themselves, ruthlessly trying to ensure victory by all means. He packs quite a punch for such a small Pokémon, and gets a few tricks as well, just so he isn't one-dimensional. He's got a really promising future ahead, I think.
Evolving improved his defensives capabilities a lot, because now he's all covered in metal that offers excellent protection against anything that's not Fire Blast. While it would seem he'd be a bit lacking in the offensive department, his Heavy Slams and Gyro Balls can dish out the pain just right, and he's got plenty of neat field tools to pressure opponents. It's a shame his metal shell made him even more secretive, leaving everyone at an arm's length and rarely, if ever, talking. Some of the most quirky and/or stubborn team members often follow him around and try to get something out of him, but to no avail. Rin in particular seems to have taken a liking to him, and can babble to her heart's content.

Granny Pie's line-up is weak to TMan's Rhyperior (why is it named ZhengTann though?), however they make up for that with a striking offensive capability. What do you think, Bob? Oh wait, what are YOU doing here? I already told you not to--"

"Well, this certainly brings back memories, doesn't it?"
"Sure does. I still remember fighting as I could when a was just a Budew..."
"I don't think the time's right for daydreaming though. Looking at the opposing team, we need to bring out the cannon right from the start."
"Yes. Let's. I'll bring down as many as I can with me."

Sending out Alternis Dim the Simisear w/ Fire Stone!

It's been a long time, ain't it! Looks like you've sure changed. But I ain't goin' nowhere, and I ain't lettin' up! It's time for a frontal assault! DECK! You're on deck, buddy!

"Ooouh, Deck prepares a juicy Aura Sphere to continue the brutal onslaught-- but wait! Alternis Dim just circles the bird with a gentle Fire Spin. Is the monkey preparing to leave the battlefield already?"

"It won't leave without tasting the Tomohawk's Aura Sphere though. Judging by Simisear's face, that probably tasted sour and bitter. Not a surprise: that sound the sphere did when hitting its target could be heard from several miles away."

"Aaand suddenly, Tomohawk begins to mock TMan's Pokémon! It seems this little prankster got the upper hand since Alternis Dim tried to open its mouth, but got interrupted by Deck's insult. I'm disappointed to be honest, I expect more BLOOD."

"You need to appreciate a good battle of wits too.

"Here comes a fellow ghost! Hello fellow ghost!"

"Jellicent is a good pick, as its high Special Defense combined with his typing gives him a good edge on TMan's current foe. Hold on, why is the sun shining so brightly all of a sudden?"

"Just look at Deck, he's summoning a Sunny day with this dumb dance of his. Ugh, Passant, I'll let Bob take my place, you know how much I loathe sunlight. Bob! You can take your fucking place back."

"Suleiman doesn't really care about the strong sunlight though as it fires a powerful Ice Beam! His target is hit head on!"

"But after that brief stun, the Tomohawk uses the sunlight to heal! It completely negated the previous assault. The Jellicent follows with a tremendous Water Spout as he is at full health!"

"It seems Morning Sun helped him negate this attack too. A smart order sequence from Granny Pie indeed."

"Oh wait, Deck prepares a Whirlwind to blow his opponent away, but Suleiman suddenly calls him <<a pitiful coward and a scoundrel>>! It really pisses Deck off and he cancels his Whirlind, ready to make the Jellicent eat his words. Isn't that exaggerated for such silly insults?
Now, how will the next round go? Both Pokémon lost a good amount of EN but neither of them took any damage. The next round will probably show us a different outcome as Deck is really, really angry now."

"A switch from both sides of the battle, and we get a Weavile and a Forretress facing each other! This does not look good for Granny Pie's deaf Pokémon, and Domovoi Butler seems extremely focused on his mission to annihilate his foe."

"But Shizune have multiple tricks under her sleeves! She begins with a good old Fake Out by throwing a small rock at an incredible velocity to surprise her opponent. Even though it does very little damage -this is one sturdy armor TMan's Pokémon wears - the Forretress looks confused and doesn't retaliate."

"She continues by sneaking behind Domovoi Butler and removing his item, again with tremendous speed! What a display of agility we get to see, and a good decision not to let the Forretress use his Power Anklet to boost his main STABs."

"This show gets canceled by a Heavy Slam! The slender Weavile gets tackled by the massive and focused Forretress. He saw the opportunity to hit his opponent and he did. Shizune now prepares herself to dodge the next attack, but Domovoi Butler shoots sharps edges of stone on Granny Pie's side. This will get him a good advantage in a long-term battle."

"Now, let's see how this duel will continue. Shizune, despite her speed and tricks, still faces a good and bulky Steel-type Pokémon. Will she find a way to play her opponent, or will Domovoi Butler eliminate her?"

An intense staredown takes place between the two Pokémon, as no sound could be heared from the battlefield. Only the wind broke the silence and started the fight.

"After a stressful silence, Shizune begins by... a Taunt, imitating her opponent. Domovoi Butler stays calm but it is clear that his mission became now a personnal business. A vicious Bug Bite confirms it! "

"Because of the damage, Shizune gets scared for a second and decides to prepare a Revenge. However, the Forretress anticipated her and is now preparing a Revenge too!"

"Shizune's patience runs out, but her attack was rather light. Oh my goodness, what a counter from TMan's Pokémon! Right after Shizune touched her foe, Forretress tackles the Weavile and sends her flying accross the field. Shizune is badly hurt!"

"But she gets up to her feet and wait again! This stance... This is a Counter we will be witnessing if Domovoi Butler decides to attack. And he does, going in for a massive Gyro Ball as he strikes ruthlessly on his foe's head! Shizune won't have the time to Counter the hit, this last hit knocked her out!"

"The first blood of this duel goes for TMan! And his Foretress is still in a rather good shape. This will be tricky for Granny Pie from now on. What will it be now? I expect a Volcarona to make an appearance."
