[Overview]

- Shadow Tag makes Gothitelle pretty good, though it has immense competition with Chandelure
- pretty good bulk, especially on the special side
- decent Special Attack

[SET]
name: Trapper
move 1: Psychic / Psyshock
move 2: Thunderbolt
move 3: Hidden Power Fire / Hidden Power Fighting
move 4: Substitute
item: Leftovers
ability: Shadow Tag
nature: Modest
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA

[SET COMMENTS]

- traps a lot of stuff
- advantages over Chandelure are bulk and movepool
- Psychic is the most powerful STAB, though Psyshock is great for trapping the blobs
- Thunderbolt is good against Skarmory, Politoed, and bulky Water-types
- Hidden Power Fire lets it trap Ferrothorn, though Hidden Power Fighting also does a decent amount and hits Tyranitar
- Substitute because there really isn't anything else to run

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

- EVs provide maximum bulk (no idea if there's a better spread, will check)
- Leftovers is best for making more Substitutes
- maybe use Life Orb but it hurts with Substitute
- between it and Chandelure the two can trap pretty much anything (though they both have a weakness to Tyranitar)
- Dugtrio to trap the troublesome Tyranitar
- stuff that appreciates things that Gothitelle can remove gone
- sun loves that it can trap Politoed, which Chandelure (and I guess Dugtrio, though it is really rare) fails to do

[Other Options]

- screens
- Trick Room
- Grass Knot
- Calm Mind
- support: Torment, Taunt, Toxic, Thunder Wave

[Checks and Counters]

- Genesect
- Zapdos
- Garchomp
- Tyranitar
- Salamence
- Latios/Latias (mainly the latter because it is bulkier, though Latios works about equally as well
- Tornadus-T
- Landorus-T
- the pink blobs
