Welcome to Good NU Cores.
The idea of this thread is simple: The community submits cores of pokemon that work well in the current metagame. These cores serve the purpose of helping new players to understand the tier better and giving ideas for the teambuilding for everyone.
But what is a "core"?
A core usually contains two or three pokemon that work on a specific goal together. This goal can be breaking through whole opposing teams or similar checks/counters, or covering each other's weaknesses while providing the team with a solid back bone of resistances for common threats of the metagame.

Happy submitting and keep in mind that this lives from the cores you guys submit! But when submitting a core please make sure you follow the rules below:
1. The core has to contain at least two pokemon and a maximum of three pokemon.
2. Include a short description of the core to make it easier to understand for someone who doesn't know how your core functions.
3. The submitted core must be tested to ensure that it performs well in the current meta. Therefore, including replays is recommended to further support the validity of your core!
4. Creativity is allowed but make sure your not using pokemon that have very small/situational niches.

here is an example of an outdated but good core post:

+

Vanilluxe @ Choice Specs
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Serious Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Blizzard
- Freeze-Dry
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

Comfey @ Life Orb
Ability: Triage
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Draining Kiss
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Taunt / Giga Drain

Never actually used this core, but I've played against it one too many times and its so annoying to deal with. Basically, Vanilluxe takes care of most of the things that walls Comfey while Comfey sets up on most of the things that come in to revenge kill Vanilluxe.

Triage is such a disgusting ability, as the things that would normally revenge kill you don't due to +3 priority Draining Kiss or Giga Drain. Fairy + Ground coverage pretty much hits most of the meta for neutral, leaving only Golbat, Zard and Weezing as decent switch ins. None of them appreciates taking a Blizzard and the first and last of the three are pretty easily worn down due to the amount of stuff they have to check.

With good hazard control (Xatu etc.), this core can easily ravage offensive teams and while bulkier teams scrambling for Vanilluxe switch ins will eventually get swept by Comfey. Try the core, I promise it's stupid good.

Core-thius strikes again

One pair up I've been loving is

:ss/ninetales: :ss/thwackey:

Fire and grass have good type synergy checking one another's weaknesses. Ninetales enjoys grassy terrain which boosts energy ball's power, reduces EQ damage, and provides passive healing which is useful for Ninetales when it is used as a soft check against mons like Ribombee.

Ninetales @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Energy Ball
- Fire Blast
- Scorching Sands

Thwackey @ Eviolite
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Swords Dance
- Grassy Glide

Two potentially ban worthy mons make a good core?

I've been running this core since the shifts and loving it. I know others have also raved about the potential synergy between our new offensive powerhouses and it really shines here IMO. Two special based wallbreakers that can drop their high base powered STAB moves and make way for the other to tear it up. The set on Duraludon may not be optimized, but this is the set I've been liking the most. I more often than not rely on breaking shit w/ Bee because not much is taking that Moonblast well. You also run Psychic for poisons. Anything that is able to tank those two effectively (Ferroseed, Galarfisk) is easily crippled w/ Switcheroo. Having the likes of your bulkier mons taken out means Duraludon is easily able to clean up, w/ STAB moves and also easily dropping worn out Steel types w/ Body Press.

Duraludon @ Life Orb
Ability: Light Metal
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Draco Meteor
- Flash Cannon

Ribombee @ Choice Specs
Ability: Shield Dust
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Moonblast
- Psychic
- U-turn
- Switcheroo

Howdy, everybody. Catalisador here to drop some cores I think are particularly good right now. Hope you guys give them a try!

OFFENSIVE

:ss/thwackey: :ss/duraludon: :ss/clawitzer:

Thwackey @ Eviolite
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Grassy Glide
- Drain Punch / Knock Off
- U-turn
- Swords Dance

Duraludon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Stone Edge
- Body Press / Dragon Pulse / Thunder Wave
- Flash Cannon

Clawitzer @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Mega Launcher
EVs: 84 HP / 252 SpA / 172 Spe
Modest Nature
- Water Pulse
- U-turn
- Dark Pulse / Toxic
- Terrain Pulse

I've been using this core for great success as of lately. The idea behind it is quite simple: abuse Thwackey's ability to get up Grassy Terrain and support two great offensive options that synergize beautifully with the monkey: Duraludon and Clawitzer.

Overall, Thwackey is used for priority Grassy Glide as a method to clean up late-game as well as our way to setup the Grassy Terrain support.
With the given set, Drain Punch is the preferred second slot to deal good damage against the ever-so-present Steel-types like Silvally-Steel, Duraludon, Sandslash-Alola and Togedemaru, all which can pivot into the second member of the core: Duraludon. However, Knock Off can be an option to better weaken Eviolite pokémon such as Gurdurr, Clefairy and Roselia, all of which can tank hits from either Duraludon or Clawitzer.
U-Turn also provides excellent momentum for Duraludon, whose special frailty can make for hard switch-in opportunities.

Scarf Duraludon is the main star of the core, being able to fully utilize its versatile coverage in Flash Cannon and Draco Meteor to hit the entire tier for good damage. Furthermore, with the Grassy Terrain support, Duraludon is able to bypass one of its biggest checks: Galarian Stunfisk, thanks to Mimicry changing the ?fish?'s typing to Grass. The remaining slots on Duraludon's set are of personal preference, with Stone Edge providing a way to check Frosmoth and punish a potential Ninetales switch-in, and Body Press providing chip damage against common Steel-type switch-ins. However, Body Press can be swapped for Dragon Pulse for consistent Dragon-type STAB or Thunder Wave for status support.

Lastly, Clawitzer is an excellent breaking option. Its access to Terrain Pulse also provides a way to abuse Grassy Terrain and bypass common checks like Gastrodon and Lanturn. U-Turn provides momentum, synergizing with Thwackey, while Water Pulse is its main STAB. Dark Pulse fills the last spot for great neutral coverage, allowing Clawitzer to hit and potentially frisk for a flinch against bulky waters outside of terrain. Toxic is slashed for its ability to also punish Water-types outside of terrain. Heavy-Duty Boots is the item of choice to mantain Clawitzer's health when pivoting around with U-Turn. Choice Specs is an option, but I prefer the versatility of being able to switch between moves. The Speed EVs allow for it to outpace Jolly Rhydon.

DEFENSIVE

:ss/roselia: :ss/jellicent::ss/silvally-steel:

Roselia @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 220 SpD / 36 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Bomb
- Spikes
- Synthesis
- Extrasensory / Giga Drain

Jellicent @ Leftovers / Colbur Berry
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 96 Def / 164 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Recover
- Night Shade / Scald

Silvally-Steel @ Steel Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Multi-Attack
- U-turn
- Defog
- Flamethrower

Another core, this time defensive, I've been using quite a lot is Roselia, Jellicent and Silvally-Steel. Covering each other's weaknesses, the two make a great defensive pairing in the current NU metagame.

Roselia's Grass- and Poison-typing allows her to tank hits from the newly added Fairies and bulky Water-types, while Synthesis provides reliable recovery. Access to Natural Cure also means it is easy for the rose to pivot into Scalds from said bulky waters to absorb burns. The natural Poison-type is also a fantastic tool against Toxic Spikes. Furthermore, the access to Spikes means Roselia has a way to pressure the opponent's side of the field with deadly hazards. Sludge Bomb gives her a great, spammable STAB move with a chance to poison, allowing herself and teammates to better break through fatter pokémon such as Miltank, while Grass-type STAB puts pressure on Ground-types such as Rhydon, Mudsdale and Gastrodon. Alternatively, Extrasensory can be used as an option to pressure opposing Poison-types such as Weezing, Garbodor and Toxicroak.

Fast Jellicent is a great way to break through bulky walls and slow setuppers. The given EVs allow the jellyfish to outspeed Jolly Rhydon. Taunt is a great tool to deny support moves from the likes of Mudsdale, Gastrodon and Stunfisk-Galar, who might want to get status conditions on Jellicent or hazards up on the field. It also denies setup from the likes of the not-so-common Alcremie. Reliable recovery is also a blessing. Lastly, access to Night Shade gives reliable damage, while Scald can be used as well to fish for burns. Colbur Berry is slashed with Leftovers for teams with trouble dealing with Knock-Off users like Sawk and Gallade.

Silvally-Steel is the last spot for the core, pivoting into Ice-type pokémon with Freeze-Dry like Vanilluxe or even Sneasel and providing Defog support if necessary. It also provides a great check to Frosmoth, which can be a problem with one too many Quiver Dances. U-Turn also provides momentum support for the team, while Flamethrower allows Silvally to hit opposing Steel-types like Ferroseed and other Silvally-Steels. Maximum Speed is recommended to always outspeed opposing Silvallys (or at least speed tie) and maximum HP gives us as much bulk as possible.

good cores right here, so gurdur
isn't talked about much I'm known as the 'gurrdur
guy' breaks bulky leads like Miltank, A-stunkfisk, piloswine, ferroseed, sullvally steel,
switch's in well on all those mon's as well, it really can round out teams, next up ninetales a core sweeper set this thing is deadly, team it up with something that can set up webs even better, e-ball for water types SS for other fire types 'and other nintales'

explanation: this defensive triple-threat is built around the 2 recent drops in corsola-g and gastrodon. this core has an amazing defensive synergy as it covers most of the pokemon in the metagame. corsola-g is here to set stealth rocks onto the field and at the same time can threaten many pokemon with a burn due to will-o-wisp like togedemaru, quagsire, basculin, thwackey, piloswine, and sawk. strength sap is a reliable way of getting hp back and to recover some health where at the same time it cripples the opposing pokemons attack-stat, night shade is the last move on corsola-g, but if you wanna go fancy, you can go with hex as an alternative. eldegoss is an amazing rapid-spinner in this tier and can help this core with not getting crippled from toxic spikes / spikes and with a sleep inducing move it is very annoying to face. pollen puff is for opposing grass-types, mainly eldegoss, last but not least, giga drain is its form os stab and can give it hp back as well and in conjunction with regenerator eldegoss can endure a very long game. lanturn is the last member on this squad and is specially defensive to give this team some kind of a viable special wall which can take on lanturn, duraludon, special skuntank, rotom and rotom-fan, choice locked-clawitzer and jolteon furthermore gastrodon can help against stunfisk-g and magneton. gastrodon has scald and earth power as its dual-stab combination, recover to stay healthy and toxic to annoy the opposition even further. in general this core can handle a lot of pokemon in the nu-tier and even some of the new drops and with many status-moves it is a very annoying core to face with a lot of defensive weapons in their arsenal.

:ss/drampa: :ss/silvally-ghost:

sets:
Drampa @ Choice Specs
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Hyper Voice
- Flamethrower
- Energy Ball

Silvally-Ghost @ Ghost Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Multi-Attack
- Flame Charge
- U-turn

explanation: this offensive core helps each other out with their weaknesses. drampa has the preferred item in choice specs in conjunction with a modest nature to spread out as much damage as it can, draco meteoer and hyper voice are its dula-stabs and they hit everything besides very sturdy steel-types really hard, speaking of steel-types, flamethrower is its coverage-option to beat ferroseed, togedemaru, silvally-steel and on top of that it hits stunfisk-g for super-effective damage. energy ball is the last move as it hits gastrodon, quasgire and the recent drop in runerigus really hard therefore making drampa a very dangerous pokemon to face. its partner is a great fighting-resist in silvally-ghost; paired with drampa it has an amazing synergy. ghostvally itself has a great breaking power too with swords dance + multi-attack to threaten a lot of pokemon for super effective damage, like runerigus, cofagrigus, decidueye, corsola, gallade and gurdurr. flame charge hits froslass, frosmoth, ferroseed and helps ghostvally to be even more dangerous because of the speed-boost it gainst due to that. last slot is reserved for u-turn as it can help to give drampa and the remaining team some momentum. in overall drampa + ghostvally have a great type-synergy which is hard to check in the long run for unprepared teams.

Someone sniped ThwakClaw before I could post it... :blobsad:

Offensive:
:frosmoth: :silvally:(Dragon)
Two setup sweepers that put a lot of pressure on eachother's checks and pick off where the other leaves off when cleaning teams. Silvally-Dragon sets up when Ninetails, Flareon, or Rapidash revenge kills Frosmoth, and vice versa for when Ribombee, Whimsicott, or Choice Scarf Duraludon revenge kill Silvally-Dragon. Shared checks like Silvally-Steel, Wish Togedemaru, and Galarian Stunfisk get worn down with either their lack of recovery or poor bulk to the point where the other sweeper cleans up after eachother.

:ninjask: :magneton:
Ninjask and Choice Scarf Magnet Pull Magneton double as awesome Speed control with great offensive snynergy. The physical walls and Steel-types that stand in Ninjask's way from revenge killing / cleaning effectively are pressured and / or trapped by Magneton, which offers crucial wall breaking power in these cases. The only checks the two fail to complement are Togedemaru and opposing Magneton, so pack Ground- and Fighting-types to help so these two can pivot into them.

:ribombee: :ninetales:
Two fast special attackers that clean and break unprepared teams, and a solid immunity to hazards with HDB makes them hard to deal with. Starting with these two and building around them with more offensive support is always a good idea.

:duraludon: :vanilluxe:
SR Suicide Lead, Auroa Veil Explosion... what could go wrong? While Vanil is the new standard for HO, I think Dura is becoming the better lead out of any other due to its Speed, offensive coverage, and option to off itself with Steel Beam to gain momentum / stop Rapid Spin. While they stack Fighting weaknesses, and cannot deal with Ninetails too well, Focus Sash Duraludon still guarantees a good tradeoff when applicable.

:drampa: :silvally: (Poison)
Drampa is a monster of a wallbreaker but needs ample support to get it in on the physical walls it wants to destroy. Silvally-Poison as an offensive pivot works well by coming into the Fairy- and Fighting-types that Drampa is targeted by, while having U-turn against walls like Cofagrigus and Garbodor. Sivally-Steel works as well with additional support, particularly having a nice Ice resistance to pivot off of and not being weak to Ribombee's Psychic, but Poison more inherently benefits Drampa.

Defensive:
:togedemaru: :poliwrath:

Wish Togedemaru likely has a lot of applications on balance teams that want the extra recovery and super relevant resistances, and one partner to help out is physically defensive Poliwrath. Poliwrath helps against most Fire-, Ground-, and Fighting-types while being a generally good physical wall all around. Just have something extra for Toxicroak and NP Ninetails.

:garbodor: :ferroseed:
Even without the best recovery, these walls stack hazards and passive damage together pretty effectively. Ferroseed works best physically defensive while Garbodor is best specially. For more support, Wish Flareon is a good consideration for an ample Fire switch-in and extra recovery.

gonna throw a defensive core in myself.

:ss/Aromatisse::ss/Silvally-Steel:
Aromatisse @ Leftovers
Ability: Aroma Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Wish
- Protect
- Heal Bell

Silvally-Steel @ Steel Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 HP / 120 SpD / 136 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Multi-Attack
- Flamethrower
- Defog
- U-turn

These two have really nice synergy in the current meta. With the rise of the dragons and fairies, steel types like Silvally steel have sky high usage. Aromatisse deals decently well with the fighting types that try to hit the steel types and provides wish support to heal up the recoverless Silvally steel. Overall these two have amazing type synergy, only struggling a bit with ground types and fire types, so a water type to pair the core with is recommended.
The EV spreads are pretty much free to change since you can surely go more defensive on Silvally and more physdef on Aromatisse. 120 SpDef allows Aromatiss to not be 2HKOed by Choice Specs-Ribombee's Moonblast.

This is a fun balanced core. Choice Specs Ribombee is already a pretty reliable wallbreaker that can support itself with Trick, but Infestation Weezing helps it further by simply trapping certain Steel-types like Galarian Stunfisk and non-U-turn Togedemaru and chipping them down very effectively.

With Ninetales still being here sadly, SpD Cramorant is a good check for it and pairing it with Galarian Stunfisk covers a lot of weaknesses each of the Pokemon have(Cramorant being weak to Rock and Electric while Stunfisk-Galar being weak to Water-, Ground-, Fighting-, and Fire-type attacks) and so on. Stunfisk can probably also run defensive to chip Pokemon that spam U-turn like Ninjask or Silvally-Forms.

Silvally-Dragon being the best check to Ninetales(as a silvally) as people are saying because it resists both Fire and Grass coverage; whether Scorching Sands burns or not is a coinflip but pairing this with a standard rocker like Galarian Stunfisk which resists/neutralizes its weaknesses Dragon/Ice/Fairy and in return G-Stunfisk provides Stealth Rocks to potentially break sashes or doing chip helping it sweep or progress damage.

Appletun is another Ninetales check thanks to Thick Fat but is still pretty weak to Fairy- and Ice-type attacks so Silvally-Steel would make a nice problem in handling Fairy-type Pokemon like Whimsicott or Ribombee that otherwise threatens Apple. Aromatisse seems like a nice defensive addition aswell considering it can recover the Silvally-Steel with Wish.

Wanted to throw in an offensive core here, Ribombee+Gallade
Ribombee sprite from Sword & Shield
Gallade sprite from Sword & Shield

Ribombee @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Shield Dust
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

Gallade (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Zen Headbutt
- Knock Off
- Trick/Poison Jab

Ribombee is a terrifying sweeper after one or two QD's, but it's mostly stopped by Steel's and Poisons. Gallade is a great partner by eliminating those pesky mons that stop a sweep. Combined, they can quickly overwhelm teams.

Boots Ribombee is a huge threat, even without setting up. With a phenomenal speed tier and solid special attack, it always has the potential to get off big damage and switch, without fearing rocks. When set up, it becomes even more of a menace, able to sweep after some chip on it's counters.

Scarf allows Gallade to outspeed mons like Steelvally or Togedemaru, forcing something to take heavy damage if they switch out or getting a much needed KO on the steels. Trick can be used to cripple defensive walls, allowing for easy set up fodder for the bee. Poison jab was a cool tech I ran into on the ladder that eliminated fairies that could've became a problem, but trick is usually a better way to deal with them imo.

A good offensive core since Sneasel ban, Ninetales pairs well with Gourgeist as it resists Ice and is immune to Fire-type moves of course and on Gourgeist's end, it helps with Water- and Ground-type Pokemon that threatens Ninetales. Choice Band Gourgeist punches holes in a lot of teams and itemless Pokemon is really rare as comparing it to Pokemon that do run it in its "tiered tier." But I'm liking this wallbreaker+setup sweeper core a lot rn.

EVs: 252 HP / 16 Atk / 116 SpD / 124 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Protect
- Iron Head
- Knock Off
- Swords Dance / Megahorn / Toxic

These three pokémon cover most of the tier defensively. There are definitely threats like Gallade you want to watch out for but overall a solid defensive core. What Escavalier does is well known to pretty much anybody that used it at least once - Its checking almost all of the fairies, ice types and Duraludon while being an increadible offensive powerhouse. The newcomer star Cramorant has grown a big fanbase recently - and for good reason! Its ability Gulp Missle can be increadibly annoying to play arround if you are not prepared for it. It also serves as a reliable Ninetales check and good check against other top threats like Gallade and Mudsdale. Finishing of this core is Mudsdale. Mudsdale is by far the best rocker for balance teams and serves a reliable check against almost any physical offense threat in the tier. Its ability Stamina allows it to boost its ability after it took a hit, boosting its chance to live the next attack. Overall a reliable core you cant go wrong with using.
The adamant 16 atk is a jump point to get 2 points in your stat with 4 EVs - the rest is dumped into spdef and HP to let it check the special attackers.
Cramorant's 16 def evs allow it to survive a Life Orb Zen Headbut from Gallade from full - again the rest in spdef to check Ninetales to the max.

:golbat: :magneton:
Golbat was an early NFE release because of DLC and it runs 176+ Spe to outspeed SD Gallade. Super Fang + Toxic is really nice for crippling defensive Pokemon like Gastrodon, Silvally-Silvally, and Mudsdale and synergizes with the magnet because Magneton resists Ice-, Psychic, Rock-, and Electric-type attacks. Magneton forms a Volturn core with Golbat aswell if you choose to run U-turn on the bat.
:persian-alola: :qwilfish:
Cat and Fish often don't get along but with Parting Shot Persian and Intimidate Qwilfish, there is a very likely chance you can get 2 stat drops within one turn. Dropping the opposing Pokemon's stats can allow your own offensive breakers/setup sweepers to take less damage from opposing mons. Persian is weak to Fighting- and Fairy-type moves and Qwilfish is weak to Ground- and Psychic-type moves so they appreciate each other in leveling out weaknesses.
:trevenant: :cramorant: :rapidash:
This is a FWG core and there resist/weaknesses should be more noticeable. Trev is a nice Choice-Banded glass cannon and adding Rapidash helps with Fire- and Ice-type Pokemon such as Ninetales or Vanilluxe is useful because the threaten the treee. Cramorant is a nice Defogger and check to Fire- and Ground-types itself and can threaten a lot of teams due to its ability Gulping Missile. It is weak to Electric-type attacks so the tree helps with that.
:munchlax: :weezing:
Munchlax is a underrated pick and is a nice special-, fire-, and ice-type sponge thanks to its SpD bulk and ability Thick Fat. Whirlwind on lax allows it to send out setup Pokemon and pairing it with Weezing, allows it to whirl in Pokemon that tends to not run HDB into Toxic Spikes set by weezing. Weezing also helps with Fighting-type Pokemon which is Lax's only weakness

:mesprit: :aggron: / :regirock:
Mesprit is a nice addition from the first shift and pairs nicely with Rock-types like Aggron and Regirock. The reason why Mesprit pairs well mentioned Rock-types is because Mesprit covers their Fighting-type weakness because of its Psychic-typing and its Ground weakness because of Levitate. In return, these Rock-types help deal with Bug-type Pokemon such as Ninjask and Centiskorch. Mesprit is very versatile so running a utility Stealth Rocks + Healing Wish set with Choice Band Aggron or an offensive Nasty Plot + Psychic set with utility Regirock works very nice.

:mesprit: :guzzlord: :coalossal:
I feel running Special Guzzlord is not really needed since we have other Special Dragons such as Drampa, Exeggutor-Alola, and Turtonator in the tier and instead running Choice Band is better. Pairing Guzzlord with Mesprit brings out a huge U-turn/Bug-type weaknesss but despite the Bug weakness, Mesprit helps with Fighting-type Pokemon that may try to threaten Guzzlord with Psychic. Coalossal comes in as the Bug resists and supports both offensive Pokemon with Spikes along with dealing with Steel-types with its Fire-STAB or even Earth Power.

:aurorus: :sandslash-alola:
Focus Sash + Stealth Rocks Aurorus and Aurora Veil Sandslash-Alola has become common trend in ladder and NUSD as it welcomes a plethora of setup-sweepers such as Turtonator, Absol, Silvally-Fairy, Kingler, and even Crobat when it was here. The Fighting- and Ground-type weaknesses is very noticeable so adding Fairy-, Flying-, Water-, Grass-, etc-type abusers can help cover such flaws.

:thwackey: :sceptile:
Thwackey is the best terrain setter if not the only terrain setter we have with Grassy Terrain and it supports many Pokemon such as Swoobat, Drifblim, Clawitzer, Ninetales, and so on thanks to its terrain. Pairing Thwackey with one of the new releases, Sceptile, allows it to become a terrain sweeper thanks to Grassy Seed activating its Unburden ability.

:porygon2: :cofagrigus: :carbink:
This is basically a Trick Room setter core as P2 is the best setter IMO and TR was used a small amount in NUSD. P2's only weakness is Fighting and adding Cofagrigus patches up that. Rather than adding Aromatisse to serve as a Draco Meteor switchin, you have Carbink with Stealth Rock utility and Explosion for momentum.

:xatu: :ferroseed: :lanturn:
Xatu came on the 2nd shift and forms a Voltturn core with Lanturn to bring offensive Pokemon in. Xatu is weak to Ice- and Electric-type attacks so Lanturn patches that up while Ferroseed helps with Rock-type Pokmeon that threaten Xatu. Ferroseed sets spikes and is threatened but Fighting- and Fire-type pokemon but thankfully, Lanturn and Xatu both patches those weaknesses together. Lanturn outspeeds Jolly Rhydon btw.

:ninjask: :gastrodon:
Gastrodon pretty much helps Ninjask in many ways such has helping with Rock-, Electric-, and Ice-type attacks while Jask in return resists its only weakness, Grass by 2x. Gastrodon also acts as a Water-move switchin from Pokemon like Inteleon or Lanturn that Ninjask may tend to U-Turn on. Gastrodon also benefits Ninjask by spreading burns with Scald which can help Ninjask setup more in the long run.

:exeggutor-alola: :aggron: :clefairy:
Steel/Drag/Fairy core: here is my post from Arche
Alolan Exeggutor + Aggron + Clefairy
:exeggutor-alola: :aggron: :clefairy:
Exeggutor-Alola @ Eject Pack
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Knock Off

Aggron @ Choice Band
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Head Smash
- Heavy Slam
- Fire Punch
- Toxic

Clefairy @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Protect
- Moonblast
- Wish
- Teleport
Alolan Exeggutor is running a progress maker + pivot set with Knock Off getting rid of items from Pokemon that may try to switching like Porygon2, Clefairy, of Cradily while Eject Pack keeps the momentum up as it makes use of its STABS: Leaf Storm and Draco Meteor. Flamethrower is for Pokemon like Whimiscott, Escavalier, or Eldgegoss that are obviously weak to Fire-type attacks. Pairing this with an offensive Choice Band Aggron set gives the core a wallbreaker. Egg is weak to Dragon-, Ice-, and Bug-type attacks and Aggron resists those Types or is neutral to them. Head Smash makes use of Rock Head of course along with having Heavy Slam and Fire Punch for opposing Steels. Using the useful /ds resists rock, resists steel, resists fire: command, some Water and Ground type Pokemon like Quagsire, Poliwrath, and Whiscash came up so I added Toxic as the last move although Egg can help with said mons. Clefairy provides the core a Dragon-type immunity and forms a dual pivoting core with Exeggutor Alola with Teleport. Clefairy's Fairy-typing is much appreciated since Egg and Agg are Close Combat spammable.

dropping some dec. cores

:pincurchin: :raichu-alola: :sceptile:
Pincurchin sets Electric Terrain for Alolan Raichu and Electric Seed Sceptile. Pincurchin also has Memento to directly bring these Pokemon in mid/late-game and Recover to increase longevity. Memento also support Nasty Plot Alolan Raichu and Swords Dance Sceptile.
:pincurchin: :blastoise:
Pincurchin sets Electric Terrain to give Blastoise Electric coverage to hit Mantine after a shell smash. Memento brings Blastoise in also while Recover does the same above.
:thwackey: :blastoise:
Thwackey does the same for Blastoise but instead it allows him to hit Gastrodon in Grassy Terrain.
:indeedee-f: :polteageist:
Indeedee-F sets Psychic Terrain to protect Poltergeist from priority like Sucker Punch and Bullet Punch. Healing Wish can pivot or recover neighboring teammates in which is why I picked Indeedee-F over male.
:ninetales: :charizard:
Dual Fire Core, Drought is allowed and Heat Rock Ninetales makes the GOAT, zard hits like a truck with Specs + Solar Power + Sun.
:ninetales: :shiftry:
Ninetales sets sun for Shiftry again. I am running Growth Shiftry with Air Slash to hit Fighting-type Pokemon like Toxicroak and Virizion that otherwise walls the Shiftry set. Heat Rock extends Sun to make Shiftry come in later throughout the match.
:ninetales: :regirock:
Dual Sunny Day Setter core, Regirock was used like in ADV/DPP NU also with Sunny Day + Explosion also and it pairs nice to support Ninetales in simply keeping Sun up.
:ninetales: :heliolisk:
Heliolisk abuses Ninetales's Drought and is running Weather Ball for Fire coverage and Dragon Pulse to hit Dragons.
:meowstic: :tyrantrum:
Meowstic sets Screens and forces switches with Yawn to allow Tyrantrum to come in and wallbreak similar to Veil.
:pincurchin: :runerigus: :sharpedo:
More of a personal choice but I have a Dual Memento+Hazard core which helps setup teammates like Sceptile, Alolan Raichu, and any abusers sweep whereas Sharpedo makes use of the hazards and cleans.

I thought I would drop my personal favorite core right now that I think abuses the best aspects of both these mons while being absolutely devastating with the right support.

pangoro.gif

Pangoro @ Choice Band
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Gunk Shot
- Bullet Punch

Slowbro-Galar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 128 SpA / 88 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Bomb
- Psyshock
- Flamethrower
- Future Sight

These two have amazing offensive and defensive synergy with each other, especially with Future Sight. Future Sight can make Pangoro almost impossible to play around, as common switch ins, like Fairies, are getting outright KO'ed by the combination of CC into Future Sight, making the pairing absolutely devastating. At the same time, answers to Future Sight, primarily Dark, Psychic, Steel, or even Fairy types, feel impossible to switch in when facing down a Pangoro, as it's STAB combinations guarantee an OHKO. Defensively, these two compliment each other beautifully, as Pangoro resists Ghost, Psychic, and Dark moves that scare out Bro, while on the other end, Slowbro-G resists Fairy and Fighting moves respectively Because of the combo of AV+natural physical bulk+Regen, this mon will continue to come in, shrugging off attacks like it's nothing while setting up never ending Future Sights on almost every Pangoro answer. All in All, I think this core legitimately might be one of the best, and unexplored, 1-2 punches in the meta as of right now.

For the spreads, the Pangoro is obvious, but the AV Bro is my own creation, so let me explain.

252 HP - For obvious reasons, lets you maximize bulk on both sides and keeps you alive and well

40 Def - The 40 Def here was mostly the leftover ev's, but it has a really nice purpose when I did some calcing. It makes a ton of unfavorable rolls back into your favor like CB Escav goes from 80-85% to OHKO to a 40% chance while you outspeed and KO (I'll get to that soon) or with Sharpedo, who's Crunch is now a 30% chance to OHKO with Life Orb, while Sludge KO's. It also lets you handle CC's or First Impression a LOT better. CB Sirfetch'd CC is now a guaranteed 5HKO instead of 4, and his First Impression is now just under half. Those are only a few, the list goes on and on. Oh, and you always survive EQ from the basic Rhyperior spread (16+). All in all, that 40 Def is game saving at times.

128+ SpA - The SpA here guarantees hard hits, but also while maximizing bulk. 128+ was specifically chosen to always KO tier menace Slurpuff from full while it can max out at 75% damage on you at +6. A tiny bit more can be usable because of the tiny bit extra in speed if you want, just to get the jump on certain calcs, like always OHKOing Sharpedo on the switch instead of just after LO damage, but I found that not as necessary. At the same time, 128+ still guarantee's a KO after a CC into things like offensive Sylveon (while making defensive Sylveon a 2HKO) and Fairyvally. This was the perfect number to hit.

88 Speed - The 88 is just to guarantee you outspeed neutral base 40's, like the random no speed Dhelmise or Gurdurr, but more importantly, it lets you set up a Future Sight on Gastro, which is a situation that'll arise constantly. This also lets you get the jump on Escav's, many of whom run enough for Gastro or base 40's.

I hope you enjoy abusing this! It's a really potent meta pick right now, and I wanted to share.

EDIT: The Slowbro set isn't limited to just Pangoro, although that's by far the best one. Any fighting type works, especially Sirfetch'd and Virizion, but it's definitely not limited to them.

Howdy, everybody. Just passing by quickly to drop some amazing cores for y'all ;).

:ss/pangoro: :ss/sylveon:

hey some random ones i thought of. mostly fit on bulky offense

:ss/roserade: + :ss/centiskorch: / :ss/pangoro: / any mon that threatens jah/zong + cress

Roserade spikes, threatens most of the tier with its STAB combo, and sleeps the few bulky things it doesnt hit hard (namely, jah, zong, and cress, since offensive resists like Toxtricity take ~85% from sludge bomb into leaf storm). Spikes help your team's breakers, and wallbreakers that can threaten out the Steels are good partners so that you can come in directly on the Steel-type Rose forced in in some scenarios where it's needed: if something else took sleep already, you miss your sleep powder, you wanted to spike instead, etc. Centiskorch, an underrated breaker rn, can break through Cresselia while coming in on standard Copperajah (SR / Heavy Slam / PWhip / Heat Crash) for free, as well as Knock-ing Flying-types like Noivern and Talonflame so that they are more hazard prone in the future, making it easier to keep spikes up with Rose. CB Pangoro obviously loves a free turn from Sleep and is insanely strong, though Cress can be annoying for both Rose and Pangoro due to its low Speed. Really, any strong breaker that can beat Copperajah, Zong, and Cress works there.

:ss/noivern: + :ss/toxtricity: (+:dhelmise:)

Premise: Noivern draws in fairy types, and toxtricity uses them as its opening to tear teams apart with specs boomburst. Weakening the Steels with Boomburst makes it possible for Noivern to 2HKO them with Flamethrower. You can go Uturn > Defog Vern and add in Dhelmise to provide removal and take on Gastrodon, which annoys both, while making it easier to bring Toxtricity in on Fairies with Uturn. (just double tho)

Be sure to include a Cress answer since a fast Cress threatens noivern + toxtricity with Moonblast + Psychic move, respectively.

:ss/rotom-mow: + :ss/salazzle: + :ss/sylveon:

np wisp mowtom takes advantage of boots lazzle checks like gastro pretty well, spreads wisp to wear down switch-ins like dhelmise and copperajah/zong (which shouldnt rly be switching into you) to open things up late-game for teammates and give other breakers a chance. salazzle can threaten out opposing sylveon to prevent it from heal bell-ing those burns off, and rotom-mow can get +2 / +4 and threaten it out that way if it tries to heal bell in its face.

alternatively, a bulkier wisp defog mowtom can do decently against most rockers + beats all water-types + has a pivot move, making it an ideal partner for the demonic subtox lazzle.

the one big problem for both salazzle and mowtom is dragon-types, so sylveon makes an ideal partner; plus, its wishes can make it easier to bring rotom-mow (and to a lesser extent sylveon) into battle, and heal bell prevents rotom from being rendered useless by a toxic from bronzong or gastrodon (on the switch), for instance. note that sylveon doesn't beat dragalge, which is a problem for all 3, so you definitely want a partner or 2 that can handle it.

enjoy!

Defensive Cores:

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Ice Beam
- Discharge
- Recover
- Teleport

Sylveon (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Wish
- Protect
- Mystical Fire / Heal Bell

:porygon2: & :sylveon:
Checks a great amount in the current metagame, Pokemon like Porygon-Z, Noivern, Toxtricity, Celebi, Pangoro, Mieanshao, and Zoroark as Porygon2 and Sylveon compliment each other very well with defensive synergy where Porygon2 can act like the special sponge and Sylveon takes on Mieanshao and Pangoro, which are threatening for the former. Heal Bell could also be considered on Sylveon for Porygon2 to increase its longevity, especially against burns and more importantly against poison due to Toxic, so Porygon2 stays healthy and doesnt get crippled down.

Copperajah @ Leftovers
Ability: Heavy Metal
EVs: 212 HP / 252 SpD / 44 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Heavy Slam
- Heat Crash
- Power Whip

Mantine @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Scald
- Toxic
- Roost

:copperajah: & :mantine:
Is also a great defensive core with a lot of synergy as Copperajah can lay out Stealth Rocks and is in general a great threatening Pokemon in the current metagame. Heavy Slam hits targets like Sylveon, Silvally-Fairy, Comfey, and Diancie, whereas Heat Crash can take on Bronzong and Escavalier. Power Whipe can deal with bulky grounds such as Gastrodon. Mantine can switch into fire- and fighting-attacks aimed at Copperajah and can deal with foes like Arcanine and Centiskorch, furthermore Mantine can make use of Defog to get rid of annoying entry hazards. Roost guarantees Mantines longevity and Toxic can deal with annoying Pokemon to whittle them down in the long run.
