- The combination of Purifying Salt and access to reliable recovery and Iron Defense makes Garganacl a solid late-game wincon.
- Body Press gains power very quickly with Iron Defense boosts and provides great coverage in tandem with Salt Cure.
- Tera Fairy allows Garganacl to continue to set up against Great Tusk and Koraidon, which often switch in to handle Garganacl. Fairy also has few weaknesses in general.
- Tera Water lets Garganacl take on Water-type attacks from Iron Bundle and Palafin.
- Tera Steel is the best option to use on a sand team.
- Garganacl with Special Defense investment works as a great check to Flutter Mane.
- Pokemon such as Skeledirge, Toxapex, and Scream Tail have a hard time doing any damage to Garganacl, making Koraidon a great partner.
- Garganacl is unable to take on Miraidon and Iron Bundle. As such, Ting-Lu is recommended for dealing with Miraidon, while Corviknight, Blissey, and specially defensive Scream Tail can handle Iron Bundle.
- While Garganacl works well regardless of the weather, Hippowdon deserves special mention as a teammate for providing sand support, greatly increasing Garganacl's Special Defense.
