PU Flapple (QC 2/2) (GP 1/1)

uploaded - asa

[OVERVIEW]
:ss/flapple:
Flapple carves a niche for itself in PU as a brutally strong wallbreaker. With its Hustle-boosted attacks, Flapple can OHKO or 2HKO most Pokemon with its sheer strength while also dropping their Defense with Grav Apple, making it easier for a teammate to pick them off. Flapple's typing also allows it to take advantage of multiple defensive Pokemon such as Sandaconda and non-Ice Beam Lanturn. However, Flapple sports a detrimental 4x weakness to Ice as well as weaknesses to common types such as Flying, Bug, and Fairy. Additionally, its poor bulk makes Flapple unable to take many hits, and its middling Speed tier causes Flapple to pale in comparison to other offensive threats such as Charizard and Silvally formes. Hustle is also a double-edged sword for Flapple; while it does increase Flapple's potency as a wallbreaker, it also decreases accuracy by a fair amount, making it possible for Flapple to miss an attack and either be severely damaged or outright KOed. Flapple faces stiff competition from Tsareena as a Grass-type and Choice Band Passimian as a wallbreaker, as both Pokemon sport better bulk and Speed tiers while also offering more utility to a team.

[SET COMMENTS]
U-turn is used to gain momentum on predicted switches. Sucker Punch allows Flapple to pick off faster threats such as Galarian Articuno and Froslass. Grav Apple's guaranteed Defense drop also makes it easier to take out weakened Pokemon with Sucker Punch. If running Thwackey alongside Flapple, Grassy Glide is the preferred priority move. While Choice Band is preferred to maximize Flapple's wallbreaking power, Life Orb can be used to switch moves, albeit at the cost of reducing Flapple's longevity. Miracle Seed is an option to bluff Choice Band, although the loss of power on other attacks is noticeable. Steel-types such as Silvally-Steel and Togedemaru are able to force out Ice- and Fairy-types and revenge kill faster threats like Charizard and Ribombee, which Flapple cannot handle on its own, with Togedemaru also forming a U-turn core with Flapple. Fire-types like Charizard and Centiskorch can check Steel-types while providing valuable support with Toxic and Knock Off, respectively. As many of Flapple's checks are easily worn down, it greatly enjoys Spikes and Toxic Spikes support from the likes of Froslass and Weezing. Thwackey can offer Grassy Terrain support for Flapple, powering up Grav Apple even further and turning Grassy Glide into a reliable, STAB priority move. Finally, Pokemon that Flapple can bring in via U-turn, such as Lycanroc and Archeops, are recommended partners.

Flapple carves a niche for itself in the PU metagame as a brutally strong wallbreaker. With its Hustle-boosted attacks, it can either OHKO or 2HKO most Pokemon with its sheer strength, and the ones that can stomach Flapple's attacks are crippled by Grav Apple’s guaranteed Defense drop. Flapple's Grass/Dragon typing also allows it to take advantage of multiple defensive Pokemon, such as Lanturn and Sandaconda. (imo, put sandaconda before lanturn and specify that you take advantage of non-ice beam lanturn.) However, Flapple sports a detrimental weakness 4x weakness to Ice, as well as other weaknesses to common types, such as Flying, Bug, and Fairy. Additionally, its poor bulk makes Flapple unable to take many hits, and its middling speed tier causes Flapple to pale in comparison to other offensive threats (such as...). It faces stiff competition as a Grass-type from Tsareena, and as a wallbreaker from Choice Band Passimian, as both sport better bulk, speed tiers and offer more utility to a team. (mention somewhere that hustle lowers the accuracy of its moves, which sometimes makes it unreliable.)

there's no need for this to be split into two sections, neither paragraph is particularly long even factoring in my comments.

Sucker Punch allows Flapple to pick off faster threats, such as Galarian Articuno and Froslass. (the defense drop from grav apple can also make picking stuff off with sucker punch easier.) U-turn is used to gain momentum on predicted switches. (put the u-turn sentence before the sucker punch one to reflect the move order.) While Choice Band is preferred to maximize Flapple's breaking power, a Life Orb can be used to switch moves, albeit at the cost of Flapple's longer longevity. Miracle Seed is an option to bluff Choice Band, although the loss of power on other attacks is noticeable. (mention running a jolly nature to outspeed stuff like adamant tsareena and adamant absol.) Steel-types such as Silvally-Steel and Togedemaru are able to force out Ice & Fairy-types and are able to revenge kill fast threats that Flapple cannot handle on its own (such as...), while also forming a double U-turn core in the case of the latter. Fire-types like Charizard and Centiskorch can check Steel-types while providing valuable support in the form of Toxic and Knock Off, respectively. As many of Flapple's checks are easily worn down, it greatly enjoys Spikes and Toxic Spikes support from the likes of Weezing and Froslass.

grassy terrain support from thwackey can be stupid good for flapple. grav apple becomes even stronger and you can slot in grassy glide over sucker punch for a STAB, terrain-boosted priority option and doesn't rely on the opponent attacking.
