Here we have a battle between a brand new player and a veteran who has recently rejoined! Both sides are using their three first BBP pokemon including one dual-typed Grass starter, so that's cute. The Alolan form and Alolan starter are on opposite sides of the battle, though. Ooh, and the Shellos is East Sea! Way cuter than West imo.

Ariadex on Discord declares that Leethoof will send out first, so:

Both sides set up some entry hazards - Leethoof's Stealth Rock makes a lot of sense against a heavily Rock-weak team, but FangFoe's Sticky Web less so against a very slow team. Then the two trade attacks, with Sandy's neutral Bug Buzz doing more damage to Deng than her super effective Razor Leaf did! It's actually a really good example of how BAP and STAB matter far more compared to typing than they do in cartridge battles. Now FangFoe has second order advantage, but how much will that matter in a matchup where Leethoof can deal far more damage?

This time, Sandy goes directly for Swarm-boosted Bug moves, correctly reasoning that the Swarm boost helps more than the super effective boost does against such a large Defense stat! Deng responds by continuing to throw more rocks at Sandy, but their final strike misses, allowing the Sewaddle to survive another round and leaving the total damage dealt by each side this round relatively even.

Deng explodes! I would usually recommend watching out for self-KO moves when your foe is at low health, but it's not like Rale would have been able to deal with it any better than Boshi did. After Boshi's Recover, he heals off most of the damage from the Explosion, but the part that wasn't healed plus Stealth Rock damage leaves the Shellos nontrivially wounded.

Rale spends an action lowering Hampton's Attack stat, which saves him...4 damage over the course of the round. Hmm. Not like Rale has ways to do lots of damage against Hampton's monstrous Defense, what with his only special move being Ominous Wind, but still. It's a good example of how changing stat stages matters a whole lot less in BBP than it does in cartridge or Showdown battles. All the rest of the actions are bog-standard attacks, and at the end of it Rale is down to half health and Hampton is barely scratched. Also, FangFoe cannot switch Rale out this round, as there is a rule against initiating a switch phase two rounds in a row.

With four potential omniboost moves used, none of them give their boost, though one does crit. Rale's Nasty Plot boosted Ominous Winds do the same amount of damage as last round's Leaf Blades, though now that he is in Overgrow range perhaps the Grass moves would have been better. Hampton, meanwhile, keeps plodding along, starting to show some damage but still not a huge amount.
