Stellar and I agreed this needed a revamp, in the movesets for the most part.

move 3: Recover
move 4: Yawn / Toxic

[SET COMMENTS]

Magcargo has very unfortunate typing, but a rather good support movepool that shouldn't be overlooked. Lava Plume is the main option on this set, due to its 30% chance of burning the opponent, but Flamethrower can be used if you want an extra kick in power. Magcargo has the choice between Light Screen and Stealth Rock here. Light Screen boosts Magcargo's decent Special Defense while also benefitting the entire team. Stealth Rock is useful support against Flying-types such as Articuno. Recover is possibly one of the best moves Magcargo has access to, being able to recover 50% of its health without the use of Rest, which will make it one bulky Pokemon to take down if not prepared for it and allows Magcargo to take hits from threats such as Swellow and Leafeon in UU. Yawn helps cause switches to rack up Stealth Rock damage or puts a counter to sleep, and is a useful pseudo-phazing move in general. Toxic can be used over Yawn, because it gives Magcargo a way to wear down opposing sponges like Gastrodon and Quagsire, who would usually switch into Magcargo with impunity.

With 172 EVs invested in Defense, its Defense reaches a stat of 350, allowing Magcargo to survive some Fighting-type attacks from Pokemon like Hitmonlee. Thanks to Flame Body, Magcargo has a 30% chance of inflicting a burn upon contact.

[SET]
name: Choice Specs
move 1: Overheat / Fire Blast
move 2: AncientPower
move 3: Earth Power
move 4: Hidden Power Grass
item: Choice Specs
nature: Modest
evs: 176 HP / 252 SpA / 80 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Magcargo's often overlooked base 80 Special Attack can be best utilized on a Choice Specs set. Choice Specs boosts Magcargo's Special Attack to a respectable stat of 426. Because Magcargo will usually switch after attacking, it can use Overheat without suffering too much from the two stage Special Attack drop. Fire Blast is a powerful STAB option that can be used in place of Overheat. Fire Blast allows Magcargo to continue attacking without the immediate need to switch out. AncientPower is Magcargo's best option against Altaria and has the extra bonus of possibly boosting Magcargo's stats. Earth Power, when paired alongside Overheat and Ancient Power, gives Magcargo complete type-coverage in UU. Earth Power allows Magcargo to more easily dispose of Probopass and Bastiodon. Hidden Power Grass deals massive damage to Quagsire and Gastrodon, two Pokemon that take relatively little damage from any of Magcargo's other attacks. 212 HP Gastrodon is always OHKOed by Hidden Power Grass, meaning Quagsire is also OHKOed.

Max Special Attack is used on this set in order to maximize Magcargo's offensive capabilities. 80 Speed EVs allow Magcargo to outspeed minimum Gastrodon and Quagsire and hit them with Hidden Power Grass before they can retaliate with Water and Ground-type attacks. The remainder of the EVs are placed into HP, allowing Magcargo to take a hit more efficiently with its decent defensive stats. Because Magcargo's HP is odd, it is also able to switch into Stealth Rock four times without fainting.

[Other Options]

Sunny Day allows Magcargo to boost the power of its Fire-type moves while lessening its weakness to Water-type attacks. Explosion allows Magcargo to go out with a literal boom, however its puny base 50 Attack will severely hamper the damage output. Protect can be used in conjunction with Toxic to rack up additional damage while scouting the opponent's next move. Reflect can be used over Light Screen to further boost Magcargo's high Defense. It also has the additional merit of benefiting the entire team. Solar Beam, when used in conjunction with Sunny Day, gives Magcargo a more powerful option against Water and Rock-types. Stockpile is a rather gimmicky option that can be used alongside Recover. It allows Magcargo to boost both its defensive stats simultaneously, similar to Cosmic Power, however the boost maxes out at +3. Will-o-Wisp is a good support option that allows Magcargo to almost always burn the opponent, after factoring in its shaky 75% accuracy.

[EVs]

Maxing out HP on the defensive set is a given. With 172 Defense EVs, Magcargo reaches a Defense stat of 350, allowing it to take hits from common UU Pokemon such as Swellow and Leafeon. The remaining 84 EVs are placed into Special Defense. A handful of Special Defense EVs will go a long way when used alongside Light Screen, which essentially doubles Magcargo's Special Defense.

On the Choice Specs set, max Special Attack greatly increases Magcargo's damage potential. With Choice Specs and 252 EVs, Magcargo essentially has a Special Attack stat of 426. 80 Speed EVs allow Magcargo to outspeed those Gastrodon and Quagsire who do not invest in Speed. Magcargo can then OHKO them with Hidden Power Grass. The remaining EVs are placed into HP, allowing Magcargo to take a hit or two before fainting.

[Opinion]

Using Magcargo in the higher tiers is an obvious no-no. Magcargo's weaknesses to common Ground, Rock, Water, and Fighting-type attacks coupled with its extremely low Speed mean that Magcargo will not survive long. Magcargo is outclassed by Heatran in OU and Camerupt in UU; however, Camerupt does not have Magcargo's useful Normal and Flying resistances.

NU is the tier that Magcargo shines in. With the abundance of Bug, Flying, and Normal-types in NU, Magcargo makes an efficient Pokemon for sponging physical hits. Magcargo still has to worry about its common weaknesses, but they are not as common in NU as they are in the higher tiers. Magcargo's ability to lay down Stealth Rock should also be emphasized in NU, due to the fact that it shaves 50% off Ledian, Beautifly, Mothim, and other Pokemon 4x weak to Rock.

[Counters]

Essentially, any Pokemon that carries a Water or Ground-type attack and has decent Special Defense can be considered a Magcargo counter. However, any physical Pokemon that fall under this description must be wary of possible burn from Lava Plume and Will-o-Wisp. The three Water / Ground-types in UU: Whiscash, Gastrodon, and Quagsire, are the best counters for Magcargo due to their good defensive stats and resistance to Fire-type attacks. Other honorable mentions include Pelipper and Wailord. Calm Politoed is capable of switching in on any of Magcargo's attacks, including Specs Hidden Power Grass, and because Politoed commonly uses special attacks, it does not have to worry about a possible burn reducing its Attack. Politoed also has access to Refresh, allowing it to cure itself of any possible status afflictions. Omastar is able to switch in on a Fire-type attack and OHKO with STAB Surf or Hydro Pump. Omastar must of course be wary of Hidden Power Grass and repeated Earth Powers. Mantine, at most, takes 47% from Choice Specs AncientPower, meaning it can reliably counter the Choice Specs set. Mantine just needs watch out for the rare Hidden Power Electric. Thick Fat Grumpig can switch into and set up on the majority of Magcargo's attacks due to its high Special Defense, but needs to avoid Toxic. Camerupt works well with its immunity to burn, neutrality to AncientPower, and resistance to Fire.

I actually quoted this sentence to say something about the content, but I had to fix the "it's".

I think this sentence is somewhat awkward and an understatement. Everyone considers Magcargo a piece of trash due to its typing. If it was only some people that thought it, it wouldn't be in this analysis.

I would prefer:

Magcargo has very unfortunate/shitty/bad/etc typing, but a rather good support movepool.

Trick Room Team Building

In this part of the guide I will demonstrate how to build a Trick Room team, don't fear that you won't understand something I've written here, it will be written as uncomplicated as it can be.

The Lead

In a Trick Room team, you will find setting up Trick Room team as soon as you can useful if you want to sweep right away, which is always the right way to go. Your lead in a Trick Room team will need to be something that can pull of Trick Room with no sweat, not something that is fragile and that's just not a good lead in general. The ideal lead should also have to ability to do something else apart from setting up Trick Room, which such things include being able to use the move U-turn, to escape from trouble and making that Pokemon useful for another time you need something to set-up Trick Room. Another thing that it can do is use Explode, which some Pokemon can do, hoping to bring down one of your opponent's Pokemon with them, and lastly, something useful too is a Pokemon that sets-up Trick Room and has the ability to sweep itself under Trick Room.

Trick Room Sweepers

Picking your Pokemon that will be the "Trick Room Sweepers" may seem complicated because its hard to choose from a variety of Pokemon and choose the ones that have low Speed, but its actually not as hard as it seems. Basing what you choose from the "Speed Tiers" part of the article is the smart choice to do here, you will have an easy time choosing what Pokemon to put on your team without much effort, just remember, the lower the base Speed, the better. After you have accomplished this, you should try to balance out the amount of sweepers you have in the team, amount meaning you shouldn't have a whole team full of special sweepers, or have a team full of special sweepers, pretty much just throwing random Pokemon together, no. What you want to do is have a somewhat balanced team, even if it seems hard to do under Trick Room circumstances, try to balance out the power, have some special sweepers as well as some physical sweepers, that way you will find it much easier to sweep teams without the trouble of a single Pokemon walling your whole team.

The moves you have put on a Pokemon be considered before you choose. The reason behind is that you might have a Pokemon, that normally, in a non-Trick Room environment is outpaced by that the opposing Pokemon, but under Trick Room that Pokemon that is usually defeated is now able to outpace it and possibly OHKO it, so its a pretty nifty tip to keep in mind.

Strategy

As it was previously mentioned, the best thing to do in a Trick Room team is to lead with a Pokemon that is able to set-up Trick Room, for more reference have a look at the "The Lead" part of the "Trick Room Team Building" section. With a Pokemon that can successfully lead and set-up Trick Room you will have more chances to get an early head start on whatever you are trying to accomplish, weather being sweeping or setting-up yourself.

@Venom:
Light Screen can be used if you need more Special Defense, which with Light Screen and the 84 Special Defense EVs Magcargo reaches a fair 217 Special Defense, and 325 Magcargo has some sandstorm support.
In the underlined part, you said that it has 217 with Light Screen support. Isn't that without Light Screen support?
Since with a neutral special defense nature and no EVs/max IV, it has 196. 84 EVs means 21 more points, and 196 + 21 = 217. It will be about 434 with Light screen, and 650-651 with Light Screen and Sandstorm.

, which with Light Screen and the 84 Special Defense EVs Magcargo reaches a fair 217 Special Defense, and 325 Magcargo has some sandstorm support.
The bolded part doesn't make sense. Won't something like 'and 325 with some sandstorm support.' be better?

One last thing:

Toxic can be used over Yawn, as Toxic gives Magcargo a way to wear down opposing sponges like Gastrodon and Quagsire, who would usually switch into Magcargo with impunity. With 172 EVs invested in Defense, it's defense reaches a good 350 Defense, which it will be able to survive and handle more Fighting-type attacks from Pokemon like Hitmonlee, and thanks to Flame Body, it has 30% chance of inflicting a burn on contact, so this is a pretty good way Flame Body can help Magcargo out, as after the burn it will be able to take the hits softer and Recover the damage off.

The bolded part doesn't fit the second paragraph. It talks about the moveset, not the spread, so move it into the first paragraph.
You also forgot to add
at the end of the second paragraph.

Keep it up you guys!

EDIT: In Stellar's second post..
It allows Magcargo to boost both its defensive stats simultaneously, similar to Cosmic Power, however the boost maxes out at +3.
However isn't nice here. How about changing it into 'although'? :S

You have no ability tags on the set. Magcargo's obviously preferred ability is Flame Body over Magma Armor.

Er, what does that mean? "some fighting-attacks". Are we talking Hitmonlee's Close Combat? Mach Punch? Is Hitmonlee holding a Life Orb or Choice Band etc. By being more specific you give the reader a general gauge of what Magcargo can and cannot survive. That's too vague for me to figure out anything.

Max Special Attack is used on this set in order to maximize Magcargo's offensive capabilities. 80 Speed EVs allow Magcargo to outspeed minimum Speed Gastrodon and Quagsire and ...

0 Speed --> minimum Speed. Sounds better to me.

Counters section seems a bit skimpy to me (not that the current one isn't). Support Politoed comes to mind. Calm Politoed is probably the best Magcargo counter. A Calm Politoed takes at worst 40% from a Choice Specs Hidden Power Grass. It has Refresh to remove Burn and Toxic and it can bring it down with STAB Surfs. Sounds like the definition of counter. No mention of Omastar? With it's 4x fire resistance and not caring about burn it surely doesn't care about coming on a Lava Plume or Overheat. It outruns it and can OHKO with STAB Surfs. It can't come in on HP Grass but I think it's still worth a mention since it can come in on every other move (although repeated EPs wear it down). Honestly, I wouldn't recommend anything physical based coming in on Magcargo. With Lava Plume, Will-O-Wisp, Flame Body etc. it seems pretty risky to bring in a physical [anything] on Magcargo, unless you want it crippled. Mantine is an excellent counter as well. It take at worst 47% from a Choice Specs AncientPower and it outruns Magcargo. So, it can easily Rest the damage off on the switch or just Surf it to death. Although, it'll struggle if Magcargo has more than one Special Attack boost from Ancient Power. Mention it'll have to watch out for the rare HP Electric though. Thick Fat Grumpig can use any set as set up fodder if it avoids Toxic. Camerupt works as well with its immunity to burn & neutrality to Ancient Power.

Nice work guys :)

Updating the counters section as I type this.

Venom can probably give you some examples on your first point. He wrote the comments for the first set.

Venom can also change the minimum thing in the first post. I'm always hesitant to use 'minimum' because the reader might think that its like -Speed, 0 EVs / IVs or something.

Should have the counters section updated soon.

Can someone acknowledge a set that idolizes Sunny Day? Perhaps suggest a moveset with the moves:

Magcargo: @ Heat Rock / Light Clay
252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpDef
Bold

Recover
Sunny Day / Light Screen
Lava Plume
Ancient Power

Your Teammates could provide Toxic Spikes / Stealth Rocks *Ariados / Bastodion* support so Magcargo can effectively Stall.

Burn and stall with Recover, 2nd slot offers Team support.

Sunny Day reduces the Water weakness (haha take that Luvdisc), while Light Screen halves damage from special attacks including Water, but it doesn't boost Lava Plume.

Ancient Power hits the Fire types (Flareon) that try and switch in.

Benefitting --> Benefiting. This using "benefitting" is a mistake made even in newspapers such as the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. It is incorrect. My teacher for English taught me this and she is the most renowned teacher in my city, and county.

You also stated "pseudo-phazing" which is also incorrect. Phazing stands for pseudo-hazing, so technically you are saying pseudo-pseudo-hazing which is incorrect. It should be just phazing.

Thanks to the topic posted by Great Sage regarding grammar and the like, Ancientpower --> AncientPower.

Also, hhjj, Magcargo's Sunny Day abilities are mentioned in Other Options, and I personally believe that's where that set should stay, since it is basically defeated by Gastrodon and Quagsire, and the only purpose is to stall. It is also basically the Support set.
