Welcome to the inaugural Doubles Live Challenge, a core tournament in the 2019 Doubles Circuit. This tour is an analog of Smogon Tour but instead focuses on current generation DOU, rather than multiple generations.

Doubles Live Challenge is a series of live tournaments which will be starting on September 27th and will all be played in the SM DOU tier. The live portion of the tournament will last 5 weeks, and everyone will earn points based on their weekly performances. After the live phase, the top 16* players in the standings will advance and compete in a single elimination playoffs to determine a champion.

These tournaments will take place on the Smogon Tournaments server on Pokemon Showdown. There will be 3 live tournaments per week for a total of 5 weeks.

Week 1: 9/27, 9/28, 9/29
Week 2: 10/4, 10/5, 10/6
Week 3: 10/11, 10/12, 10/13
Week 4: 10/18, 10/19, 10/20
Week 5: 10/25, 10/26, 10/27

The times that the Live Tours will start are as follows (note that these are different than Smogon Tour):
  • Friday: 9pm EDT (GMT -4)
  • Saturday: 11am EDT (GMT -4)
  • Sunday: 2pm EDT (GMT -4)
You will only be allowed to join 2 tours per week and only your top score per week will be counted. You cannot make a new account to circumvent the rule either. Also, you are not allowed to ask for wins, offer wins, or interfere in other people's battles (ghosting them or their opponent). If you do any of the aforementioned, be prepared to get infracted and potentially banned from our tournaments. We will take retroactive action if necessary.

The Points System that will be used for each live tour is the same as the one that is used for Smogon Tour. The current standings for the Doubles Live Challenge can be found here.

Because this Tournament is a part of the 2019 Doubles Circuit, it will also award Circuit Points. The circuit point payout at the conclusion of the entire Doubles Live Challenge (including playoffs) is as follows:

1st: 10 CP
2nd: 8 CP
3rd-4th: 6 CP
5th-8th: 4 CP
9th-16th: 2 CP
17th-24th: 1 CP

*Regarding Doubles Live Challenge Playoffs
The current plan is for the playoffs of Doubles Live Challenge to consist of 16 players. However, we reserve the right to lower this number if participation in these tournaments is less than expected. Should the playoffs for these tournaments shrink, the CP payout will not change. For example, someone who qualified for a 16-man playoff and lost in the first round will receive the same CP as someone who finished 11th in an 8-man playoff scenario since both of their placements fall in the 9th-16th range. Since these are both new tournaments for our circuit, we cannot be entirely sure of participation out of the gate. A decision will be made regarding the size of playoffs no later than the 2nd week of live tournaments.

For anyone interested in hosting any of the live tours, feel free to either post about your availability on this thread or by sending a collective PM to MajorBowman, talkingtree, Level 51, and Arcticblast. Keep in mind that hosts will not be able to play in the same tour that they host, but because one may only enter 2 tours per week there is still some leeway for hosts to still compete in the tour.

Good luck to all players!

Regarding Playoffs:

We're sticking to top 16 playoff. Numbers haven't been tragically low, so we haven't been given a reason to shrink playoff size at all. We also don't want to do a 12-man playoff and introduce byes, especially without more advance notice.

Good luck securing those spots in the last two weeks!
