Slate 13: One of the most creepy and forgotten Pokemon from Gen 1: Hypno.

Set 1: Specially Defensive

Hypno @ Leftovers
Ability: Insomnia
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Wish
- Protect
- Taunt / Toxic

With its massive special bulk (85/115) and recovery in the form of Wish, Hypno looks like a very potent Special Wall, able to shutdown dangerous Special Attackers such as Kadabra, Mr. Mime and Beheeyem. Thanks to Taunt it can also beat slower Pokemon such as Mareanie, Bronzor and Duosion. However Hypno has a very bad defensive type with a lot of common weakness in Bug (U-turn, Pinsir) and Dark (Shiftry, Komala, ...) and no real useful resistances outside of Psychic. It also struggles to recover due to its reliance on Wish, which lets it be set up fodder for Physical Attacker. Hypno is also very susceptible to Taunt, a common move.

Set 2: Z-Hypnosis + Belly Drum

Hypno @ Psychium Z
Ability: Insomnia
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Hypnosis
- Belly Drum
- Zen Headbutt
- Drain Punch / Fire Punch

Z-Hypnosis+Belly Drum, the former boosting Speed and putting the foe asleep, allowing to safely set up a Belly Drum seems like a deadly combo. However Hypnosis only has a shacky 60 Accuracy which lets the set up fail 40% of the time. Moreover even at +1 in Speed Hypno is easily revenge killed, because every scarfer outspeed it and OHKO it after a Belly Drum, and Hypno is also weak to the most common priority move in ZU in the form of Sucker Punch (Shiftry, Pawniard, Mawile) which also OHKOes Hypno after a Belly Drum.

Lickilicky @ Leftovers
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Wish
- Protect
- Heal Bell

Lickilicky is one of the best special wall in ZU meta. Its great SpecialDef and more than decent HP allow it to counter dangerous mons, such as Swanna, Special attacker Shiftry (whitout being weak to Knock off like Hypno) , Electivir etc.

Poliwrath @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Earthquake / Ice Punch
- Waterfall
- Brick Break / Circle Throw

It appears that Poliwrath is the best rain abuser in ZU and also one of the most dangerous sweeper of the tier due to its excellent movepool and correct attack.
After a belly drum this mon becomes incredibly strong and can OHKO many mons of the meta especially under rain. (even though belly drum is pretty hard to set)

--(I personally prefer to use Z Hypnosis bulk up Poliwrath)

I'll reserve Cradily for Set 1 and Huntail (would've reserved Gorebyss but it's banned so rip) for Set 2. (good lord, there's no Belly Drum users which don't get outclassed by other stuff or are currently banned - rip Ursaring and Zangoose)

Set 1: Cradily

Cradily @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold / Impish Nature
- Giga Drain
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Recover
Cradily is obviously much slower than Hypno, has more weaknesses, is less specially bulky, and doesn't really pack much useful resistances, but is physically bulkier, making it harder to pressure by pokemon such as Choice Band Bouffalant and SD Shiftry. While it may lack good resistances, its typing lets its check pokemon such as Electivire, which Hypno only wishes it could do. Despite being even more susceptible to Taunt thanks to its lower speed tier, Cradily packs a one-turn recovery move in Recover, which prevents it from being setup fodder for physical attackers, while it also packs a more useful ability in Storm Drain, also allowing it to check Water-types such as Swanna.

Set 2: Z-Celebrate + SD Leafeon

Leafeon @ Normalium Z
Ability: Leaf Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Celebrate
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Knock Off
Although Leafeon has a harder time finding setup opportunities due to its lower special bulk, it packs superior physical bulk, allowing it to set up with Z-Celebrate + Swords Dance on stuff such as Shiftry, Pawniard, and Mawile. At the same time, Leafeon's speed tier is much better, which makes it harder to revenge kill at +1 Speed, and it also packs more immediate power, giving it an easier time KOing bulkier threats such as Bronzor.

Set 1: Grumpig

Grumpig @ Mago Berry
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 80 SpD / 176 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Signal Beam
- Recycle
- Taunt

Grumpig is less bulky than Hypno but has more usefull resistances thanks to Thick Fat, allowing it to beat Simisear, Combusken, and Regice. Recycling Berry is curiously as effective than Wish passing because Grumpig doesn't loses a turn clicking Protect. Grumpig's superior speed tier also allows it to threaten slower Pokemon such as Shiftry and Exeggutor with Signal Beam, and to beat slower defensive Pokemon with Taunt such as Vigoroth and Fantom.

Set 2: Shell Smash Crustle

Crustle @ Rockium Z / White Herb
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- X-Scissor / Knock Off

Crustle shares with Hypno to be a fat physical set up sweeper which also boosts its speed. However Crustle only needs to Shell Smash to be boosted both in Attack and Speed. This frees a moveslot for Crustle allowing it to run coverage moves that allows Crustle to hit the wall tier for at least neutral damages.

Here are the results:
Specially Defensive:
Lickilicky @ Leftovers
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Wish

- Heal Bell

Lickilicky is one of the best special wall in ZU meta. Its great SpecialDef and more than decent HP allow it to counter dangerous mons, such as Swanna, Special attacker Shiftry (whitout being weak to Knock off like Hypno) , Electivir etc.
Belly Drum:

New slate is opening very soon.

I'll be absent for 10 days, so don't be afraid if I don't open vote after a week. That's also the opportunity do to do a big slate.

Slate 14: Due to Pikachu's global popularity, Game Freak decided to put in every gen a Pika-clone. These Pokemon despite being very cute, popular and having great support movepool, have very mediocre stats and shouldn't therefore be used.

Set 1: Specially Defensive Marill

Marill @ Eviolite
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Whirlpool
- Perish Song
- Protect
- Rest / Toxic

Marill has a unique defensive typing with only 2 weaknesses due to its ability Sap Sipper which theorically allows Marill to check Shiftry, Leafeon, Silvally-Dragon and Floatzel just to name a few. However Marill lack of recovery and reliance on Perish Song to kill Pokemon lets it very quickly worn down. Also while this set theorically allows Marill to beat stall, it's uneffective due to its unability to touch Ghost-types such as Gourgeist and Dusclops, as well as phazer like Avalugg.

Set 2: Belly Drum Marill

Marill @ Eviolite
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Knock Off

Marill has access to both Belly Drum and Huge Power which gives it a very high Attack stats. However before Belly Drum, Marill doesn't hit particulary harder than most other physical attackers. Moreover due to its low speed and medium bulk, it gets easily revenge killed and struggles to set up.

Set 3: Nasty Plot Plusle/Minun

Plusle @ Normalium Z / Life Orb
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Encore

Plusle has very mediocre defensive stats and its offensive aren't much better. It can attempt to wallbreak with Nasty Plot and sweep with Z-Encore, however the stats really hold it back. Minun is Plusle with slightly more bulk and slighly less offensive power, which lets it being outclassed by Plusle.

Set 4: Defensive Pivot Pachirisu

Pachirisu @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Nuzzle
- Super Fang
- U-turn
- Toxic

Pachirisu despite having win once VGC is very bad in single. It can attempt to annoy the opponent with Nuzzle and Toxic, pivot with U-turn and wear the opponent down with Toxic, but Pachirisu overall doesn't do anything useful and most of the time just fainted without having doing anything useful.

Set 5: Offensive Pivot Emolga

Emolga @ Leftovers
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Air Slash
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt / Taunt / Defog / Encore / Nuzzle

The most popular Pikaclone and perhaps the best of the worst, Emolga has a high Speed stats that allows it to outspeed Simis, Silvallies, Electivire, ... as well as a great defensive and offensive typing in Electric/Flying, and reliable recovery in Roost. However, Emolga's bulk is very mediocre which prevents it from being able to take most neutral hits, its offensive stats aren't much better which unables Emolga to threaten the Pokemon it outspeeds. Moreover Emolga's speed tier isn't that great since it's still outspeed by Rapidash, Raichu, Floatzel, Purugly, ...

Set 6: SubPetaya Dedenne

Dedenne @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Cheek Pouch
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Recycle
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Dedenne thanks to its Ability can theorically abuse Recyle+Cheek Pouch+Petaya Berry to get infinite Special Attack boost while spamming Substitute. However Dedenne's stats doesn't it allows to use this combo, since its needs its Substitute not to break at first hit.

Edit: Also remind that you don't need to submitt for every set.

Reserving

Set 1 : Lapras (this set is honestly extremely garbage but it's the only good perish trapper water mon I found)

Lapras @ Leftovers
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Perish Song
- Whirlpool
- Rest
- Freeze-Dry

So, this set works pretty well vs Stall team while being able to trap most of opponent's pokémons whit whirlpool. Thanks to rest you can easily deal with moves like Toxic, Freeze-Dry is a pretty cool move and allow Lapras to pass Mareanie whitout having to lose too many pps.

Set 3 : Raichu
Raichu @ Life Orb
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 1 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power Ice / Ground

Raichu is a really good Nasty Plot user in ZU (even though being outclassed by Electivire as an electric pokemon). It has a good SpeA and a decent speed , its ability allow it to come over Volt Switch and gain a speatk boost which is pretty interesting.
(it is also better in all way than plusle and minus)

Set 5 : Rotom Fan (you can use a more defensive version of the set, depends of your team)
Rotom-Fan @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Air Slash
- Trick
- Thunderbolt

Rotom Fan despite being weak to rock is a good pivot in ZU. Its good Speatk allow it to do decent damage while being able to take momentum with Volt Switch, trick is a really good move if you make some anticipation, Air Slash and Thunderbolt are 2 good stabs which cover a big part of the meta.

God, this will be exhaustive...

In the meantime though, I'm not reserving anything for Sets 1 and 2, and I'll take Simisage for Set 3 and Komala for Set 4
Set 3: Nasty Plot Simisage

Simisage @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast
- Nasty Plot
Although Simisage struggles to find setup opportunities given its poor bulk and defensive typing, its superior base speed tier compared to Plusle lets it outspeed stuff such as Swanna, meaning that it can afford to run coverage for pokemon which Plusle struggles with, such as Kecleon and Lickilicky. Simisage also packs superior offensive stats compared to Plusle, making it harder to switch in on at +2 special attack boosted All-Out Pummeling - that is, unless your name is Muk or Bronzor. It also does not need to use a Z-move to boost its speed, which gives it an easier time breaking down defensive pokemon not named Muk or Bronzor.
Set 4: Komala

Komala @ Assault Vest
Ability: Comatose
EVs: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 96 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Return
- Knock Off / Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- U-turn
(oof; couldn't tell whether this was defensive or offensive for whatever reason)
Although Komala doesn't have the possibility of annoying its opponent by Paralysis, Komala trades this away for being able to stomach special hits aimed at it much easier. It also carries superior stats in general, being able to stomach special attacks better; and while it is obviously slower than Pachirisu, meaning that it has to risk getting KOed much more, this slow speed also makes it a reliable slow U-turn user as well. Lastly, Komala also provides hazard removal in the form of Rapid Spin, making it more useful outside of just hazard setting.

Set 2:

Poliwrath @ Normalium Z/Sitrus Berry
Ability: Swift Swim/Water Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Substitute/Earthquake/Double-Edge
- Waterfall
- Brick Break

Poliwrath is a far superior water-type Belly Drum user which can be incredibly threatening under rain. With rain active an adamant natured Wrath reaches 478 Speed, enough to outpace every common scarfer in the tier barring Swanna and Zebstrika. Also, its respectable uninvested bulk makes it difficult for many teams to revenge kill after it has set up.

Set 4:

Stunfisk @ Leftovers/Rocky Helmet
Ability: Static
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Discharge
- Earth Power
- Toxic/Thunder Wave/Pain Split

While spamming paralysis is a cute niche, it really sucks if that's all your mon can do. Stunfisk is far superior at spreading paralysis due to its superior defenses and access to the extremely annoying move Discharge. On top of that, Stunfisk can also set up stealth rocks for the team, providing utility outside of just status setting.

Set 5:

Silvally-Electric @ Electric Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 HP / 120 SpD / 136 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Defog
- U-turn
The criminally underrated Silvally-Electric is a much better Electric-type pivot than Emolga. Because of Elecvally's solid defenses it can come in on dangerous mons like Swanna or Shiftry and immediately threaten to KO them in return. Access to defog allows it to use the switches it forces to clear hazards. While the spread that I put above is more defensive, it can very easily be customized with more SpA to exceed Emolga's pitiful offenses.

Set 6:

Drifblim @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid/Modest Nature
- Substitute
- Will-O-Wisp/Calm Mind
- Shadow Ball
- Air Cutter
Petaya Drifblim may not be the most consistent set in the world, but it is leagues better than anything Dedenne can hope to accomplish. Drifblim has superior SpA to the pika-clone and thanks to its ability Unburden reaches a blistering 568 speed after its berry has been consumed. Drifblim's colossal HP stat also make its substitutes deceptively difficult to break, especially because the ghost blimp can burn physical attackers with Will-O-Wisp or boost itself with Calm Mind.

Set 1: Block+Spite Pyukumuku

Pyukumuku @ Ghostium Z
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Recover
- Spite
- Block
- Rest

While it takes far more time for Pyukumuku to remove a Pokemon with the combination of Block+Spite than Marill with Whirlpool+Perish Song, Pyukumuku is a more reliable Pokemon thanks to better bulk, better ability and better recovery. Pyukumuku can therefore trap several foes during a game unlike Marill which gets quickly weakened by the first Pokemon it traps.

Set 2: SD Bibarel

Bibarel @ Life Orb
Ability: Simple
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Liquidation
- Return
- Quick Attack / Aqua Jet

After a SD Bibarel is slighly less powerfull than Marill at +6 (+4 252+ Atk Life Orb Bibarel Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Abomasnow: 148-175 (46.1 - 54.5%) -- 58.6% chance to 2HKO, vs +6 252+ Atk Huge Power Marill Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Abomasnow: 156-184 (48.5 - 57.3%) -- 94.1% chance to 2HKO). However Bibarel has a far better speed tier which allows it to outspeed Pokemon such as Exeggutor, Toucannon, Pawniard, ... and therefore beat them. Moreover, unlike Marill, Bibarel keeps some bulk after a SD which allows it to survive weak moves such as Mawile's Play Rough or defensive Golem's STAB, which gives Bibarel far more set up opportunities.

Set 4: Defensive Rotom-Fan

Rotom-Fan @ Iapapa Berry / Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp / Pain Split
- Defog / Pain Split

Rotom-Fan is superior to Pachirisu due to not being super passive. Thanks to its good Special Attack even if not invested, Rotom is able to strike with powerful Volt Switch and Air Slash. Rotom-Fan also checks more Pokemon than Pachirisu such as Pinsir, Shiftry and Leafeon, thanks to its Flying-type and better stats. Also Rotom-Fan brings far more utility than Pachirisu thanks to its access to Will-O-Wisp, Defog and Pain Split.

Set 6: NP Raichu

Raichu @ Fightinium Z / Life Orb
Ability: Lighning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Raichu is just a superior Dedenne. It has better stats, movepool and ability. Thanks to its higher Speed tier and Lightning Rod, Raichu finds more set up opportunities. Thanks to its better Special Attack and Speed and access to Nasty Plot, Raichu can effectively wallbreak.

Slate 15: This time we're talking about the mighty octopus that some new players still use and nominate in the viability ranking: here.

Set 1: Trick Room Attacker

Octillery @ Life Orb
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Energy Ball / Hidden Power [Electric]
- Psychic / Fire Blast

Set 2: Tank

Octillery @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Energy Ball / Hidden Power [Electric]
- Psychic / Fire Blast

Set 3: All Out Attacker

Octillery @ Life Orb / Scope Lens
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Energy Ball / Hidden Power [Electric]
- Psychic / Fire Blast / Focus Energy

Octillery has a gargantuan movepool backep up with a high Special Attack stats allowing it to hit the whole tier for at least neutral damage. However Octillery faces the competition from the other offensive water-type in the tier in Swanna, Floatzel and Simipour namely which have higher speed tiers and can be played both physically and specially unlike Octillery which lacks a physical STAB. Also Octillery main appeal is its ability Moody which is banned from Uber, and therefore not allowed in ZU.

Set 1: Trick Room Attacker

Beheeyem @ Life Orb
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Quiet Nature
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Signal Beam
- Trick Room

Octillery may be okay as a TR abuser, but Beheeyem just does it better. It can set up Trick Room for itself and it can hit a little harder with its Analytic ability assuming a mon switches out. It hits harder than Octillery does and has access to recovery should it need it.

Wishiwashi @ Life Orb
Ability: Schooling
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- U-turn
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass] / Hidden Power [Fire]

Really simple, Wishiwashi is just a better Octillery. It's lower speed makes it a better TR sweeper, it has WAY WAY better offensive stats, it is a pivot with U-Turn, and is also more bulky. It's coverage may not be superb compared to Octillery, but like I said, the change in offensive stats and bulk always makes Wishiwashi a better option.

EDIT: Forgot to mention this is for Set 1, my b.

Floatzel is one of the best Water-types in the ZU metagame thanks to its very good speed stat which allow it to outspeed most part of the metagame - which is the main respk to choose it over Octillery,
good special attack and decent movepool.
Hydro Pump is a powerful stab which can deal big damage to any non-resisted water type mons.
Ice beam is an excellent coverage move and help Floatzel to deal whit Gourgeist and dragon type.
Focus Blast / HP elec are an other good coverage moves.
Moreover Floatzel can be run whit many different sets (mixed, bulk up, special attacker etc.) which make it less predictable than Octillery.

Reserving Simipour for set 3
Set 2: Defensive Pivot Silvally-Water

Silvally-Water @ Water Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 248 HP / 24 Def / 100 SpA / 136 Spe
Bold Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Surf / Ice Beam
- Defog
- U-turn

Silvally-Water, while hitting less hard than Octillery and having a less coverage options, has better defensive stats, Speed and utility movepool. This allows Silvally-Water to act as a better tank, with this spread Silvally-Water outspeeds Shiftry and OHKO it with U-turn after SR, and do heavy damages with Thunderbolt to every Water-types, even Mareanie and Swanna which are neutral to Octillery's Energy Ball, while maximazing Silvally-Water overall bulk and ability to take on Fire-types such as Combusken and Rapidash.

Set 3: All Out Attacker Simipour

Simipour @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Superpower
- Knock Off

Simipour's movepool has nothing to be envious of Octillery's one. Also Simipour while having slighly lower offense, has a far higher speed, allowing it to namely outspeed Silvally, Swanna and Leafeon. With this set Simipour can at least 2HKO with some prediction every Pokémon not nammed Silvally-Water, Pyukumuku or Mareanie (the latter doesn't come safely once Knocked Off), which makes this set a far more effective breaker than Octillery.
