Bolstering an incredible Special Attack stat combined with a great movepool makes Thundurus-T an extremely threatening wallbreaker. Focus Blast nails foes such as Hisuian Goodra, Volt Absorb Empoleon, and Volt Absorb Corviknight. Psychic hits Great Tusk and Iron Hands, while Grass Knot can let Thundurus-T lure in and take out Swampert while still hitting Great Tusk for super effective damage. Nasty Plot boosts Thundurus-T's Special Attack to nuclear levels, allowing it to OHKO Hisuian Goodra and Blissey with Focus Blast after slight chip damage. Fast specially offensive pivots such as Iron Moth, Choice Scarf Azelf, and Latios appreciate Thundurus-T's incredible wallbreaking power, as they can take advantage of weakened special walls such as Swampert, Manaphy, and Meloetta. Thundurus-T loves slow, defensive pivots such as Corviknight, physically defensive Manaphy, and Swampert, as they can take on faster threats such as Iron Boulder, Chien-Pao, and Azelf, which all threaten to KO it, while also being able to safely pivot it in. Entry hazard Removal from the likes of Corviknight, Great Tusk, and Mandibuzz is also helpful, as Thundurus-T is very vulnerable to Stealth Rock. Sticky Web support from a teammate like Smeargle or Ribombee is another option, as it can give Thundurus-T the opportunity to outpace previously mentioned revenge killers.

Focus Blast nails foes such as Hisuian Goodra, Volt Absorb Empoleon, and Corviknight make it more clear corviknight is also VA. Psychic hits Great Tusk and Iron Hands, while also being its most reliable option against all Ogerpon formes this is unnecessary imo, you don't OHKO them with it and they all outspeed and OHKO you anyways, while Grass Knot can let Thundurus-T lure in and take out Swampert while still hitting Great Tusk for super effective damage. Nasty Plot boosts Thundurus-T's Special Attack to nuclear levels, allowing it to OHKOing Hisuian Goodra and Blissey with Focus Blast after slight chip. Hazard Removal from the likes of Corviknight, Great Tusk, and Mandibuzz is also helpful, as Thundurus-T is very susceptible to Stealth Rock.
