name: Physically Defensive
move 1: Body Press
move 2: U-turn / Brave Bird / Iron Head
move 3: Defog
move 4: Roost
item: Leftovers
ability: Pressure
nature: Impish
evs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
tera type: Steel / Flying

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Corviknight's high physical bulk gives it a strong defensive presence in the tier. It is one of the few consistent counters to strong Ground-types like Great Tusk, physical attackers like Chien-Pao, and some special attackers like non-Choice Specs Iron Bundle. Furthermore, its access to Defog also makes it a solid entry hazard remover, though it struggles against Gholdengo.
  • Body Press provides Corviknight with a way to leverage its high Defense stat, doing significant damage to Fighting-weak Pokemon.
  • Brave Bird allows Corviknight to threaten Flutter Mane and Great Tusk. Alternatively, Iron Head can be used to threaten the former while avoiding recoil damage.
  • Maximum HP investment and enough Defense to check Chien-Pao is combined with Leftovers and 96 Special Defense EVs, which allows Corviknight to take two Mystical Fires from most Flutter Mane, as well as giving it the ability to take on non-Choice Specs Iron Bundle and weaker attacks like Freeze-Dry from Choice Specs Iron Bundle.
  • Tera Steel or Flying can be used to shed the weaknesses of Corviknight's dual typing: Tera Steel allows Corviknight to resist Ice-type attacks from Chien-Pao, while Tera Flying allows Corviknight to resist Great Tusk's Fighting-type attacks. Depending on your choice, Terastallization also amplifies the power of either Iron Head or Brave Bird.
  • Corviknight works well as a part of a defensive core with Pokemon like Ting-Lu and Blissey, which can handle threats like Miraidon that obliterate Corviknight. Additionally, Corviknight makes a great partner for offensive threats like Chi-Yu, which appreciate a teammate that easily switches into Ting-Lu, or Great Tusk, which appreciates opposing Great Tusk being worn down.

[SET]
name: Specially Defensive
move 1: Iron Head / Brave Bird
move 2: U-turn / Protect
move 3: Roost
move 4: Defog
item: Leftovers
ability: Mirror Armor / Pressure
nature: Careful
evs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
tera type: Steel / Ground

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Specially defensive Corviknight can switch into foes like Flutter Mane, Iron Bundle, Gholdengo, and Glimmora.
  • U-turn is used to make Corviknight an effective defensive pivot that can maintain momentum against foes that force it out such as Miraidon and Koraidon.
  • Mirror Armor allows Corviknight to check Mystical Fire Flutter Mane, which would otherwise beat it. Alternatively, when paired with Pressure, Protect enables Corviknight to avoid being 2HKOed by Hydro Pump from Choice Specs Iron Bundle, as well as allowing Corviknight to deplete PP with Pressure more effectively.
  • Corviknight can use Tera Steel to get rid of its weakness to Electric and better take on Ice-type moves from Iron Bundle. Alternatively, it can opt to use Tera Ground to become immune to Miraidon's powerful Electro Drift.
  • Specially defensive Corviknight needs help dealing with strong physical wallbreakers such as Chien-Pao from teammates like Dondozo and Scream Tail. Furthermore, Pokemon that are especially threatened by Flutter Mane and Iron Bundle, such as Koraidon, Great Tusk, and Skeledirge, are able to rely on specially defensive Corviknight as a consistent switch-in.

i know this is still WIP but I gotta stop you before you get too far ahead

Phys Def set should look something like this:

name: Physically Defensive
move 1: Body Press
move 2: Iron Head / Drill Peck
move 3: Defog
move 4: Roost
item: Leftovers
ability: Pressure
nature: Impish
evs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
tera type: Steel / Flying

The set you had above is essentially just the old set from the SS days, Rocky Helmet does not do much for Corv (you are not harding in on U-Turners really) and the healing from Leftovers can be critical to stop Chien-Pao (of which good ones should be running Icicle Crash, avoiding Rocky damage). Lefties + the Special Defense investment allows this Corv to check most Flutter Mane which is HUGE utility to have (LO Mystical Fire is only a 3HKO). Additionally, the SpD investment doubles in usefulness against Iron Bundle, as you can generally take most hits from Boots sets and even some Freeze-Dry's from Specs. The lowered Defense investment does not cause much practical change in checking physical attackers, Chien-Pao is still checked well and if it really wants to break past Corv he'll just tera anyway.

Tera Steel can be useful for the Ice resist against Chien-Pao while Tera Flying + Drill Peck can make this Corv able to sit on Tusk (usually). Iron Head is preferred for the strong hit on Flutter Mane and Valiant but Drill Peck still does good damage to both while getting a stronger hit on Tusk.

SpD seems fine, I just like running Protect sometimes over U-Turn as it guarantees Specs Pump from Bundle won't 2HKO you.

why does physdef not have u turn slashed lol, that move is way too good on corvi, it has to be mentioned

  • Defog access makes Corviknight one of the most reliable hazard-removers in the tier.
this is not true anymore because of the mere existence of gholdengo. please change the wording

  • Corviknight can choose to invest completely in Special Defense to serve as a more specialised counter to the myriad of threatening Special Attackers in the tier, including Flutter Mane, Iron Bundle and even Miraidon with the use of Terastallization.
also glimmora

Protect enables Corviknight to avoid being 2HKO'd by Hydro Pumps from Specs Iron Bundle.
you should also mention that tect + pressure helps waste pp very easily, whether it can be miraidon's dm/overheat, bundle's hpump, tusk's cc etc etc.

i think this is good otherwise

  • Corviknight, with its high physical bulk is a strong defensive presence in the tier, being one of few consistent counters to strong Ground-types like Great Tusk, physical attackers like Chien-Pao,(AC) and some special attackers like non-Choice Specs Iron Bundle. (fullstop)

Alternatively, Drill Peck can be used to threaten both while also allowing Corviknight to threaten Great Tusk. (change order to reflect the move order on the set)
  • Defog access makes Corviknight a solid choice for hazard-removal in the tier, though it struggles against Gholdengo. (I'd rather see this as an opening sentence cause it reads like dex info atm)
