[OVERVIEW]
Cofagrigus sets itself apart from other Ghost-types through its useful supportive and defensive capabilities. Because of its access to Toxic Spikes, Cofagrigus can aid its teammates by wearing down their checks while doing the same to its own checks, such as Guzzlord and Jellicent. Its Ghost typing and bulk are useful for denying Rapid Spin from Pokemon such as Tsareena and Hitmontop, and Iron Defense + Body Press pressures Defoggers such as Silvally-Steel. This combination of moves is also useful late-game once Cofagrigus' checks have been worn down, making it a valuable asset throughout a game. However, Cofagrigus has a serious lack of reliable recovery and is forced to rely on Rest, rendering it setup fodder for Pokemon such as Nasty Plot Toxicroak and Shell Smash Omastar. It also has lackluster Special Defense, which lets wallbreakers such as Vikavolt and Magmortar easily pierce through it.

[SET COMMENTS]
Shadow Ball is an interesting alternative over Toxic Spikes to hit Ghost-types, which otherwise wall Cofagrigus. Notably, this includes Rotom, Heavy-Duty Boots Froslass, and opposing Cofagrigus, which are not heavily impacted by Toxic Spikes. However, the supportive capabilities of Toxic Spikes are generally preferred due to these Pokemon being uncommon, and Toxic Spikes is more useful during the early- and mid-game stages. Despite Chesto Berry usually being run to give Cofagrigus a one-time instant recovery option alongside Rest, running no item makes it harder to pressure with Poltergeist and Knock Off users such as Froslass, Gourgeist-S, and Passimian. The Speed investment lets it outspeed Galarian Stunfisk, and the remaining EVs combined with a Bold nature bolster Cofagrigus's physical bulk, which improves its durability and the damage output of Body Press. Alternatively, a specially defensive spread of 248 HP / 240 SpD / 20 Spe with a Calm nature allows it to take special hits better at the cost of its physical bulk and attacking power. Cofagrigus should be paired with Pokemon that can cover for it against special attackers; these include blanket special walls such as Gigalith and Lanturn. These examples also benefit from Toxic Spikes pressuring checks like Jellicent and Guzzlord. Offensive partners such as Tsareena and Choice Scarf Togedemaru appreciate Cofagrigus's Toxic Spikes, and, in return, both can safely pivot into Cofagrigus. Tsareena can also remove hazards on its side and Heavy-Duty Boots from foes for Cofagrigus with Rapid Spin and Knock Off, respectively. Cofagrigus also appreciates Pokemon that can threaten grounded Poison-types, as they remove Toxic Spikes; this includes Charizard, Mesprit, and Sandaconda.

[OVERVIEW]
Cofagrigus sets itself apart from other Ghost-types through its useful supportive and defensive capabilities. Access to Toxic Spikes makes it a great support Pokemon, capable of wearing down its own checks such as Guzzlord and Jellicent, as well as its teammates' checks. Its Ghost typing and bulk (i think its bulk worth highlighting here too, since it means the spinners you mention can't as easily pressure it with coverage as they can other spinblockers.) is useful for denying Rapid Spin from Pokemon such as Tsareena and Hitmontop, and Iron Defense + Body Press pressures Defoggers such as Talonflame and Silvally-Steel. The combination of Iron Defense and Body Press is also useful late-game once its checks have been worn down, making it a valuable asset through a game. However, Cofagrigus has a serious lack of reliable recovery and is forced to rely on Rest, rendering it setup fodder for Pokemon such as Toxicroak and Virizion. (maybe add "if it hasn't set up" and specify what sets/moves toxicroak and virizion are running? idk, as it stands, the latter half of this point is largely dependent on the particular game.) Pokemon that 4x resist Fighting such as Ribombee and Xatu can set up on Cofagrigus with no issue and cannot be worn down by Toxic Spikes. (you mention this later, but xatu has to watch out for potential shadow ball.) It is also vulnerable on the special side, which lets special breakers such as Heliolisk and Magmortar easily pierce through it.

Shadow Ball is an interesting alternative over Toxic Spikes to hit Ghost-types, which otherwise wall Cofagrigus. Notably, this includes Rotom, Heavy-Duty Boots Froslass, and Haunter, as well as hitting Xatu for solid damage. However, the supportive capabilities of Toxic Spikes are generally preferred due to these Pokemon being uncommon and Toxic Spikes being useful more of the time. (i feel like you could stand to mention a more common ghost-type in your examples of what shadow ball hits. something like palo, ghostvally, or even opposing cof*g would work.) Despite Chesto Berry usually being run to give Cofagrigus a one-time instant recovery option, running no item makes it harder to pressure by Poltergeist users such as Froslass and Gourgeist-Small. The speed investment lets it creep opposing Galarian Stunfisk, while the rest bolsters its solid Defense stat, improving both its damage output and its physical bulk. Alternatively, a specially defensive spread of 248 HP / 240 SpD / 20 Spe with a Calm nature allows it to take special hits better at the cost of its physical bulk. Cofagrigus should be paired with Pokemon that can cover its weaker special side; these include blanket special checks such as Gigalith and Lanturn. These also benefit from Cofagrigus' presence by it pressuring their own checks such as Vaporeon and Palossand with Toxic Spikes. Offensive partners such as Tsareena and Scarf Togedemaru appreciate Cofagrigus pressuring their checks such as Talonflame and Sandaconda, and in return, both can offers pivots into Cofagrigus while Tsareena can remove hazards.

i find that tspikes variants of cofagrigus appreciate having mons that threaten grounded poison-types like toxicroak, garbodor, and neugas weezing. like, i know you mostly sit on those either way, but nothing stops them from just switching in and removing your hazards, which is further compounded if they're running black sludge in the case of the latter two.

Implemented. For the Shadow Ball mention, I tried to be specific about Pokemon that didn't care about TSpikes (Rotom has Levitate, Boots Froslass has...Boots, and Haunter is part Poison anyway). To clear up any confusion I mentioned that in the analysis, but still added more relevant mentions anyway.

It is also vulnerable on the special side, which lets special breakers such as Heliolisk and Magmortar easily pierce through it eh don't entirely love the first example here given Heliolisk does <50% and Cofag does like 150% in return.

Notably, this includes Rotom, Heavy-Duty Boots Froslass, and opposing Cofagrigus, who are not heavily impacted by Toxic Spikes, as well as hitting Xatu for solid damage wouldn't keep the Xatu mention, just don't like it being emphasized twice when WP CP stuff would love to get shadow balled. However, the supportive capabilities of Toxic Spikes are generally preferred due to these Pokemon being uncommon plus it gives cofag something to do before lategame. Despite Chesto Berry usually being run to give Cofagrigus a one-time instant recovery option, running no item makes it harder to pressure by Poltergeist users such as Froslass and Gourgeist-S as well as Knock Off users such as Passimian. Offensive partners such as Tsareena and Choice Scarf Togedemaru appreciate Cofagrigus pressuring their checks such as Charizard and Sandaconda cofag doesnt effectively pressure either of these??, and in return, both can safely pivot into Cofagrigus while Tsareena can remove hazards yeah this sentence is weird, cofag isn't an offensive pressure kinda guy. not like Sandaconda is gonna wear itself down trying to 1v1 cofag, it just can't. and special zard just wins. I think you could delete the sentence and not lose anything but at the very least this point needs some work.
