[OVERVIEW]
Clefable provides good utility for teams thanks to its good movepool, giving it a multitude of options such as Calm Mind, Thunder Wave, and Stealth Rock. Furthermore, its typing allows it to check many prominent Pokemon in the tier such as Mega Gyarados and Dragonite. Thanks to Calm Mind and its access to coverage options like Fire Blast and Thunderbolt, it can also serve as a niche wallbreaker. However, its typing may backfire on itself, since it leaves Clefable vulnerable to other prominent Pokemon such as the omnipresent Melmetal, Mega Beedrill, Gengar, and Mega Venusaur. Finally, its mediocre Special Attack stat leaves it unable to break through special walls such as Snorlax and defensive Mew.

Set Description
========

Calm Mind allows Clefable to improve its rather mediocre Special Attack stat and function better as a wallbreaker. Thunder Wave allows Clefable to cripple Pokemon like Starmie, Mega Alakazam, and Mega Aerodactyl. Fire Blast is a powerful coverage option that allows Clefable to potentially OHKO Melmetal at +1, but Flamethrower can be used in its place for consistency. Stealth Rock allows Clefable to wear down its checks such as Melmetal and Alolan Muk for it to handle them more easily, and its offensive presence allows it to be a reliable Stealth Rock setter on offensive teams. Thunder Wave can be used instead on teams with another Stealth Rock user.

Usage Tips
========

Since this particular set is focused on its role as a wallbreaker, it is best utilized early- or mid-game. Clefable should almost always set up on passive Pokemon such as defensive Mew or Pokemon it forces out like Alolan Exeggutor and Dragonite. If an opponent has Melmetal on their team and you predict that they’re going to switch into it, use Calm Mind and Fire Blast on to OHKO it after some minimal chip damage. Clefable’s main priority should be setting Stealth Rock early-game, particularly if the opponent has a Pokemon it really struggles to get through that happens to be weak to Stealth Rock, such as Moltres or Mega Charizard Y. Clefable can also take advantage of the lack of common Poison-type moves on Pokemon such as Alolan Muk and Nidoqueen and wallbreak them.

Team Options
========

Clefable fits on balance teams that have the capability to handle its checks. Chansey makes for a decent partner, since it can check Pokemon like Gengar and Mega Alakazam and safely pivot to bring Clefable in with Teleport; in return, Clefable can check Fighting-types like Poliwrath and switch into U-turn. Wallbreakers like Gengar, Melmetal, and Mega Gyarados appreciate Clefable setting Stealth Rock to help wear down their switch-ins. Similarly, late-game cleaners such as Mega Aerodactyl, Mega Alakazam, and Dragonite appreciate Stealth Rock wearing down foes for them to clean more easily, and they also really appreciate how good Clefable is at forcing damage on Melmetal. Since Clefable is walled by special walls such as Chansey and Snorlax, checks to them like Poliwrath and Melmetal are appreciated. Finally, since Melmetal beats Clefable one-on-one, checks to it like Mega Charizard X, Mew, and Sandslash are appreciated. Mega Charizard X can check Mega Venusaur for Clefable, Mew can handle Nidoqueen, and Sandslash is able to run Stealth Rock, allowing Clefable to run Thunder Wave alongside Calm Mind.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Toxic is an option to cripple switch-ins such as Mew and Chansey. However, due to the prominence of Toxic-immune Pokemon like Mega Venusaur, Melmetal, and Nidoqueen, it is not recommended. Clefable can also set up dual screens on hyper offense teams; however, Electrode and Jolteon make for better dual screens setters due to their higher Speed, and Clefable’s middling Speed means it is hardly able to set dual screens itself. A Calm nature allows Clefable to be more of a special wall, but it isn't recommended due to the prominence of physical attackers in the tier that Clefable is aiming to check. A Bold nature may solve this problem, but Clefable’s Defense is too low to warrant it and the loss of the extra power provided by the Modest nature is significant. Teleport is another option for Clefable to escape an incoming check and bring in a teammate, but it is not recommended because of how hard it is to fit into the set.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Special Walls**: Specially defensive walls such as Chansey and Snorlax wall Clefable thanks to their high Special Defense and HP stats.

**Melmetal**: Melmetal can always come in to take Clefable’s Moonblast and force it out or OHKO it, but it has to watch out for Fire Blast 2HKOing it or even potentially OHKOing it if boosted. This damage may also leave Melmetal unable to properly handle Clefable's teammates.

**Poison-types**: Mega Beedrill, Mega Venusaur, and Gengar can all outspeed Clefable and OHKO it after Stealth Rock damage; however, all three are risky switch-ins. Mega Beedrill cannot take any move safely, Mega Venusaur has to watch out for Fire Blast, and Gengar must be wary of Thunder Wave.

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Mega Charizard X and Moltres resist Fire Blast and Moonblast, respectively, but they hate getting worn down by Stealth Rock. They're also susceptible to Thunder Wave and can struggle to break through a boosted Clefable.

I’d mention Teleport as a potential Other Option. It gives Clefable a pivoting move to help escape an incoming check and bring a teammate in safely to deal with it. However, it has trouble fitting it onto its moveset.

Finally, its mediocre Special Attack stat leaves it reliant on Calm Mind, leaving it prey to other setup sweepers what do you mean by this? not many setup sweepers in lgpe ou can actually set up in clef's face bc its coverage is enough to trash them boosted or not, could you elaborate on this please and being walked walled by special walls such as Snorlax and Chansey.

If an opponent has Melmetal on their team and you predict their that they're going to switch into it, use Fire Blast on the switch. dunno about this, +1 clef nukes melm after very little amounts of chip, you can mention that clef can just cm and fire blast melm afterwards If Clefable is going to force out a Pokemon that it checks but their team doesn’t have Melmetal, try to have Clefable set up Calm Mind so that it can wallbreak more easily. melmetal has basically 100% usage, there's no reason to have this.

mention that clef's #1 priority should be setting up stealth rock early game, particularly if the opponent has a pokemon it really struggles to get through that happens to be weak to rocks like moltres or mega charizard y

Some things I noticed:

However, that typing may backfire on Clefable, since it leaves it vulnerable to other prominent Pokemon, such as the omnipresent Melmetal, as well as Mega Beedrill, Alolan Muk, Alolan Muk almost never runs poison STAB, making Clefable only worried about toxic, so it's not defensively weaker to Muk then any other pokemon that can be toxic'd is. Gengar would be a better example of a pokemon that takes advantage of Clefable's typing. You actually even mention later on that Muk is not as threatening because it does not run poison STAB. Muk is not in the checks and counters section either, rightfully so, because it is easily 3HKOd by Moonblast and its best attacking move is resisted by Clef, so It should not be mentioned here and Mega Venusaur. Finally, its mediocre Special Attack stat leaves it being walled by special walls such as Snorlax and Chansey It's debatable if Chansey is worth a mention, it has very little presence in the meta, Mew or something would be a good replacement mention of a specially bulky pokemon.

Calm Mind allows Clefable to improve its rather mediocre Special Attack stat for it to function better as a wallbreaker. Stealth Rock allows Clefable to wear down its checks such as Melmetal and Alolan Muk for Clefable to handle them easier, and its offensive presence allows it to be a reliable Stealth Rock setter on offensive teams. A Modest nature is preferred for Clefable to break more easily.

Usage Tips
========

Since this particular set of Clefable is focused on its role as a wallbreaker, this Clefable set is best utilized early- to mid-game. Clefable should almost always set up on passive Pokemon such as Chansey Again unsure if Chansey is worth a mention, but in the case you actually battle a Chansey, you absolutely cannot set up calm mind. Chansey will toxic you and avoid 2HKOs from +4 Moonblasts until you die. You even list Chansey as being in checks and counters, it has no place being here. Rocks/Defensive Mew is a better example of a passive pokemon, they often run Will-o-Wisp and special moves, which you don't mind or Pokemon it forces out like Alolan Exeggutor and Dragonite. If an opponent has Melmetal on their team and you predict that they’re going to switch into it, use Calm Mind and Fire Blast on the switch. I agree with the wording Lily chose here, only having to hit 1 fire blast is preferred, but it should definitely be addressed somewhat that the Melmetal should be chipped slightly before attempting this. A full health Melmetal(a common occurance in the early game) has a 26% chance of being OHKO'd by Fire Blast, odds very slightly improved with rocks. As the Melmetal easily OHKOs you afterwords, it would be far safer and less committal to Fire Blast twice, because not only does it have a much greater 72% chance to OHKO a full health melmetal, it also allows you to switch out the 2nd turn and preserve the clefable if you so desire. It should also be mentioned that if you are running flamethrower and predict Melmetal, you should always click it twice, and never CM(this might be considered obvious though) Clefable’s first priority should be setting up Stealth Rock early game, particularly if the opponent has a Pokemon it really struggles to get through that happens to be weak to rocks like Moltres or Mega Charizard Y. Clefable can take advantage of the lack of common Poison-type moves on pokemon that you'd think would check it such as Alolan Muk and Nidoqueen to wallbreak.

Chansey makes for a good partner, since it can check Pokemon like Gengar and Mega Alakazam and safely pivot Clefable in with Teleport, and in return, Clefable can check Fighting-types like Poliwrath. Chansey isn't just destroyed by fighting type moves, it is chunked hugely by any physical move, like the most common one in the game, U-turn. Maybe worth mentioning that clef resists U-turn, cuz it's not a bad pivot into that move, it can't really be taken advantage of that hard. Other wallbreakers like Gengar and Melmetal appreciate Clefable setting up Stealth Rock for them to function more easily. Similarly, late-game cleaners such as Mega Gyarados and Dragonite appreciate Stealth Rock wearing down foes for them to clean more easily, and they also really appreciate how good Clefable is at forcing damage on Melmetal. Finally, since Melmetal beats Clefable, checks to it like Mega Charizard X, Moltres, and Mew are appreciated by it. Both Moltres Moltres is barely relevant, Sandslash-A is a partner that has not been mentioned, checks Mega Venusaur, can force damage on Melmetal, and can run rocks to free up the moveset of Clef and Mega Charizard X can check Mega Venusaur for Clefable, while Mew can handle Nidoqueen.

(this comment is unofficial obv)
~ just to note that sandslash-a's analysis does not have sr slashed, and the way it is described in oo implies it is a move that generally should not be run.
tbc i dont necessarily disagree, as i said on another thread i think sandslash-a has significant moveset flexibility esp bc of counter, but it might be confusing if the clefable analysis suggests sandslash-a as a partner that can run rocks for it and then the reader goes to the sandslash-a analysis and it says that sandslash-a really does not have room to run rocks.

~ it seems rly good overall, but since im posting anyway a few smol comments,
1 i dont rly like the melmetal emphasis as a check (really throughout the analysis), melm tends to fill so many key roles so it rly doesnt want to take on clef, and it rarely needs to. the exception would be if it somehow managed to come in to clef before it has set rocks, but i think that can j be noted in usage tips as a reason for clef set stealth rock at its first opportunity. also in team options the sentence about checks to melm is weird, and sandslash-a is not a check to melmetal.
2 mega beedrill should be in c&c outspeeding and ohko'ing regardless of any cm boosts, tho it isnt trying to switch in even on moonblast, and i wouldnt mention it as a twave target since clefable is not realistically landing twave on m-bee (i guess if m-bee tries to roost predicting clef to switch?).
3 overall, i think c&c should have a greater emphasis on clef's low speed and revenge killing it, clef has a lot of relatively neutral matchups and on teams without chansey, i think it tends to be best to just wear it down with whatever it comes in to than trying to switch into it. the one poke that should consistently be switching out is exeggutor-a, otherwise its more if something is specifically needed to check a threat such as poliwrath against an m-gyara team.
~ mega venusaur and gengar only ohko after rocks if clef is unboosted, and m-venu doesnt do very well against a healthy +1 clef at all, idk if that needs to be stated or is 'obvious'. i would also mention nidos within poison types bc even tho they lack poison stab bc they outspeed and 2hko with eq (nidoqueen is a roll to 2hko) while being immune to twave and taking little from clefables damaging moves.
zard x doesnt rly have a good matchup with clef, even more so if clef has twave, but zard y should be mentioned if moltres is.
~ maybe a 'revenge killing' or 'faster pokemon' section in c&c because clef is very slow and most of the tier can do good damage to an unboosted clef. i think this could replace the 'fire types' section, since revenge killing is a better description of fire types' matchups against clefable anyway, only moltres and zard y can really deal with a healthy clefable but they detest twave, rapidash and arcanine do well if they have flare blitz but otherwise they can only revenge kill it (for fire blast rapidash thats generous tbh, tho id never drop flare blitz on rapidash) and zard x especially can only revenge kill it as it doesnt resist moonblast and has poor special bulk.
[idk why thunderbolt is mentioned as clefables coverage moves in the intro, since it is never run as its most viable target is zard y (twave is preferable for starmie) and twave is good enough for zard y/moltres anyway, clef has no room for it, and its obv not mentioned anywhere else in the analysis.]

~ idk what people think about potentially running twave over calm mind? (when stealth rock cant be dropped). it means you cant rly do anything to zapdos other than moonblast sp attack drop(s), but other recovery move users esp mew that clefable would use calm mind against are crippled by twave, and twave can be used in many situations where clef is relatively healthy but still doesnt have time to set up calm mind. the nido matchups arent very good even if clefable is already at +1, u are obv losing the possibility of setting up on a melmetal switchin but unboosted fire coverage still does good damage, i feel like there are enough benefits for it to be mentioned at least in oo, esp when all the current other options are pretty bad, idk why toxic would ever be preferred to twave (maybe for chansey but honestly i dont mind paralyzing chansey at all, to make it slower than melm and chansey is often ruined if it fps) and i really dislike teleport on a pokemon with such balanced matchups since the opponent is often going to just attack rather than try to switch, idk if vengeance has had success with it

Thunder Wave can be used on teams with another Stealth Rock user, allowing Clefable to cripple Pokemon like Starmie, Mega Alakazam, and Mega Beedrill. A Modest nature is preferred for Clefable to break more easily. (fluff)

Usage Tips
========

Since this particular set of Clefable is focused on its role as a wallbreaker, this Clefable set is it best utilized early- to mid-game. Clefable should almost always set up on passive Pokemon such as defensive Mew or Pokemon it forces out Pokemon like Alolan Exeggutor and Dragonite. If an opponent has Melmetal on their team and you predict that they’re going to switch into it, use Calm Mind and Fire Blast on the switch, but minimal chip is required. Clefable’s first priority should be setting up Stealth Rock early-game (AH), particularly if the opponent has a Pokemon it really struggles to get through that happens to be weak to rocks like Stealth Rock, such as Moltres or Mega Charizard Y. Clefable can also take advantage of the lack of common Poison-type moves on pokemon that you'd think would check it Pokemon (unnecessary imo) such as Alolan Muk and Nidoqueen to and wallbreak them.

Team Options
========

Clefable fits on balance teams that have the capability to answer its checks. Chansey makes for a good partner, since it can check Pokemon like Gengar and Mega Alakazam and safely pivot Clefable in with Teleport, and in return, Clefable can check Fighting-types like Poliwrath, (RC) as well as resist and switch into U-turn. Since Clefable is walled by special walls such as Chansey and Snorlax, checks to them like Poliwrath and Melmetal are appreciated. Finally, since Melmetal beats Clefable, checks to it like Mega Charizard X, Sanslash-A, and Mew Mew, and Alolan Sandslash are appreciated by it. Mega Charizard X can check Mega Venusaur for Clefable, Mew can handle Nidoqueen, and Sandslash-A Alolan Sandslash is able to run Stealth Rock for Clefable, leaving the latter free allowing it to run Thunder Wave.

Other Options
=============

Toxic is an option for Clefable so that it can cripple switch-ins (AH) (i would list some examples here). However, due to the prominence of Toxic-immune Pokemon like Mega Venusaur, Melmetal, and Nidoqueen, it is not recommended. Clefable can also set up Reflect and Light Screen dual screens on hyper offense teams. However, Electrode makes for a better dual screens setter due to its faster speed higher Speed, and Clefable’s meddling Speed means it is hardly able to set up dual screens itself. A Calm nature allows for Clefable to be more of a special wall, but the prominence of physical attackers in the tier makes a Calm nature it not recommended. A Bold nature may solve this problem, but Clefable’s Defense is too low to deserve a Bold nature it. Teleport is another option for Clefable to escape an incoming check and bring in a teammate, but it is not recommended since because it is hard to fit into the set.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Special Walls**: Specially defensive walls such as Chansey and Snorlax wall Clefable thanks to their high Special Defense stat and HP.

**Melmetal**: Melmetal can always come in and wall Clefable’s STAB Moonblast to take Clefable's Moonblast and force it out or OHKO it, but it has to watch out for Fire Blast 2HKOing it, (RC) and it can potentially be OHKOed by a boosted Fire Blast or even potentially OHKOing it if boosted.

**Poison-types**: Mega Venusaur and Gengar can outspeed Clefable and can OHKO it after Stealth Rock, but Mega Venusaur has to watch out for Fire Blast, and Gengar must be wary of Thunder Wave.

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Mega Charizard X and Moltres resist Fire Blast and Moonblast, (AC) respectively, but they hate getting worn down by Stealth Rock. They're also susceptible to Thunder Wave and can struggle to break through a boosted Clefable.

[OVERVIEW]
Clefable provides good utility for teams thanks to its good movepool, giving it a multitude of options such as Calm Mind, Thunder Wave, and Stealth Rock. Furthermore, its typing allows it to check many prominent Pokemon in the tier,(RC) such as Mega Gyarados and Dragonite. Thanks to Calm Mind and its access to coverage options in Fire Blast and Thunderbolt, it can also serve as a niche wallbreaker. However, its typing may backfire on itself, since it leaves Clefable vulnerable to other prominent Pokemon,(RC) such as the omnipresent Melmetal, Mega Beedrill, Gengar, and Mega Venusaur. Finally, its mediocre Special Attack stat leaves it unable to break through special walls such as Snorlax and defensive Mew.
