[OVERVIEW]
Defensive Clefable is a staple for bulkier teams, as it blanket checks a myriad of setup sweepers such as Feraligatr, Garchomp, and Azumarill courtesy of its ability Unaware. Furthermore, its amazing Fairy typing allows it to pivot into Dragon-type STAB moves from the aforementioned Garchomp, Latias, and Dragonite, forcing them out. With Thunder Wave to debilitate the likes of Heatran or Flamethrower to punish other Steel-types, Clefable isn't easy to safely pivot into. Its access to utility moves such as Wish, Aromatherapy, and Stealth Rock makes it extremely customizable to support a team's needs. Calm Mind also turns it into a solid wincon for slower teams and makes it overall less passive. However, Clefable's reliance on Wish + Protect to sustain itself long-term renders it extremely passive and easily exploitable by prominent threats such as Magnezone and Nidoking. Furthermore, its overall bulk is fairly mediocre, meaning strong unboosted attacks such as Choice Band Infernape's Flare Blitz and Choice Specs Latias's Psychic completely demolish it. Moreover, it is easily chipped down by entry hazards, which make it a shaky blanket check if the team lacks sufficient entry hazard removal. However, Clefable is hard to pass up on due to its success against a lot of prominent sweepers, and its minor issues are easily fixed by its partners, making it a top-tier choice on more balanced teams.

[SET COMMENTS]
Wish in conjunction with Protect is Clefable's best recovery option, and it also lets Clefable support its teammates or scout attacks from Choice-locked threats while racking up extra Leftovers recovery. Calm Mind is the main last move to consistently beat Latias one-on-one while besting other wincons such as Stored Power Latias and Alakazam. Furthermore, it also turns Clefable into a potent wincon that cleans up weakened teams. Thunder Wave lets it debilitate would-be switch-ins, like Heatran, while also giving Clefable a more consistent way to deter Pokemon like Infernape and Azumarill. Flamethrower directly punishes Steel-types like Magnezone and Scizor, preventing them from switching in freely, Stealth Rock is an option that frees up a moveslot on Clefable's teammates, but it gives a overall mediocre Stealth Rock user.

Clefable fits best on balance teams with teammates that can help shore up its pitfalls defensively. Blissey is one of its best partners because together, they deal with all the relevant special attackers, with Blissey safely pivoting into Pokemon like Choice Specs Latias and Nidoking that can overwhelm Clefable. In return, Clefable deals with the likes of Focus Sash + Nasty Plot Alakazam, which breaks through Blissey. Bulky Water-types such as Slowbro and Rotom-W are also amazing partners, as they deal with Pokemon like Choice Band Weavile, Life Orb Garchomp, and Choice Band Infernape that break through Clefable. Gliscor and Starmie can absorb a stray Toxic or Spore directed at Clefable and remove entry hazards to keep it healthy, as well as dealing with Lucario for it. Lastly, Tangrowth and Celebi can pivot into Pokemon that easily overpower Clefable such as Choice Band Breloom and Azumarill, form a solid defensive core to check Crawdaunt, and make Life Orb Garchomp easier to play around.

Other Options
=============

Moonlight might seem tempting as an immediate recovery option that doesn’t require Protect; however, its extremely limited PP make it detrimental in the long term. A Magic Guard set utilizing a Life Orb can turn Clefable into a potent attacker, making use of its amazing coverage options such as Focus Blast for Heatran, Ice Beam for Gliscor, and Thunderbolt for Skarmory. Despite that, being forced to run Moonlight for recovery makes Clefable much easier to overwhelm, and this set loses much of the defensive utility that Unaware brings over Magic Guard. Aromatherapy is an option if teams desperately need a cleric; however, it bothering Gliscor and having very specific usage make it a mediocre option. A set with Stored Power and Calm Mind or Cosmic Power can sweep unprepared teams, but it is extremely matchup dependent, as it is walled by Dark-types and easily pressured by status. Cosmic Power + Charge Beam is a similar option, but it forfeits a lot of Clefable's defensive capabilities and is extremely inconsistent. Lastly, a specially or mixed defensive set can also be used to take hits such as Latias's and Alakazam's Psychics better, although Clefable's partners often naturally take such hits for it, and these sets make Clefable much more easily overwhelmed by the likes of Feraligatr and Azumarill.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Offensive Steel-types such as Magnezone, Jirachi, Heatran, and Lucario easily force Clefable out, but they are easily worn down and the latter three hate Thunder Wave. Clefable is normally unable to break past Scizor, but Scizor dislikes being paralyzed and Calm Mind sets can break past it in the long term. Further, all of these Steel-types bar Heatran fall to Flamethrower.

**Residual Damage**: Entry hazards easily put Clefable into range of being overwhelmed by the foes it is supposed to check. If Clefable gets statused, it becomes much easier to break through as well, as burn chip damage negates the passive Leftovers recovery, paralysis makes its Wish + Protect much more inconsistent, and Toxic prevents it from stonewalling setup sweepers.

**Strong Attackers**: Due to its mediocre bulk, Clefable can easily be broken through by powerful wallbreakers such as Choice Band Infernape, Life Orb Garchomp, and Choice Specs Latias.

**Taunt / Trick / Whirlwind User**: Due to Clefable's passiveness, it is easily shut down by Taunt from Pokemon like Heatran and Gliscor. Trick + Choice Scarf from the likes of Rotom-W also makes it much easier to take advantage of, and Choice Scarf prevents it from consistently healing. Lastly, phazing from the likes of Whirlwind Skarmory prevents Clefable from recovering properly.

Defensive Clefable is a staple for bulkier teams, as it provides a blanket check for a myriad of setup sweepers in the tier such as Feraligatr, Garchomp, and Azumarill, courtesy of its ability Unaware. Furthermore, its amazing Fairy-typing allows it to pivot into Dragon-type STAB moves from the aforementioned Garchomp, Latios, and Dragonite, and force them out. With the ability to cripple the likes of Heatran with Thunder Wave or punish other Steel-types with Flamethrower, Clefable isnt easy to safely pivot into. Its access to utility such as Wish, Thunder Wave (redundant) Aromatherapy, and Stealth Rock makes it extremely customisable to support a team's needs. However, Clefable's reliance on Wish + Protect to sustain itself over the long-term renders it extremely passive and easily exploitable by prominent threats such as Magnezone Lucario You can play around Zone thanks to Protect and Nidoking. Furthermore, its overall bulk is fairly mediocre, meaning strong unboosted attacks such as Choice Band Infernape's Flare Blitz and Choice Specs Latios's Psychic completely demolish it. Moreover, it is easily chipped and worn down by entry hazards, which make it a shaky check if the team does not have sufficient entry hazard removal I would maybe put more emphasis about how important it is for Clef to stay healthy to do its job. However, Clefable is hard to pass up on due to how well it does against a lot of prominent sweepers, and its minor issues are easily fixed by its partners, making it a top tier choice on more balanced teams. I would add somewhere that Calm Mind makes it a win condition especially in slower teams and makes it overall less passive.

move 2: Wish
move 3: Protect
move 4: Calm Mind / Thunder Wave / Flamethrower / Stealth Rock Honestly, I think there is too many slashes here. I don't know how you can fix this as they all deserve a mention somewhere. Maybe just Calm Mind as it is the ideal set in my experience.

Wish in conjunction with Protect is Clefable's best recovery option that also lets it support its teammates, and allows it to scout attacks from choice locked threats while racking up an extra turn of Leftovers recovery. Calm Mind is the main option to allow Clefable to consistently beat Latios in a one on one scenario, while besting other win conditions such as Stored Power Latias and Alakazam The way it is worded can be misleading I think as we can understand Clef counters them where it is only checking them, especially Zam. Furthermore, it also turns Clefable into a potent win condition, cleaning up weakened teams. Thunder Wave lets it cripple would-be switch-ins like Heatran and Roserade Considering that Rose has Natural Cure and Moonblast doesn't do much I think it is not a good example, while also giving Clefable a more consistent way to deter Pokemon like Infernape and Azumarill. Flamethrower lets Clefable directly punish Steel-types like Magnezone and Scizor, preventing them from switching in freely, Stealth Rock is an option, albeit a mediocre one that frees up a slot on Clefable's teammates, but gives a overall mediocre Stealth Rock user. If running Flamethrower, Clefable can run 44 Speed EVs to outspeed Scizor.

Clefable fits best on balanced teams with teammates that can help shore up its pitfalls defensively small typing error. Blissey is one of its best partners as together, they deal with all the relevant special attackers, with Blissey safely pivoting into Pokemon like Choice Specs Latios and Nidoking which can overwhelm Clefable. In return, Clefable deals with the likes of Nasty Plot Alakazam once again Clef is a shaky check to zam especially if it is LO which break through Blissey. Bulky Water-types such as Slowbro and Milotic are also amazing partners, as they deal Pokemon like Choice Band Weavile, Life Orb Garchomp, and Choice Band Infernape which Clefable is broken through by. Gliscor I would mention Starmie even if it is a less good status absorber but it fills the same role is also a great partner as it can absorb a stray Toxic or Spore directed at Clefable, while also removing entry hazards to prevent Clefable from being worn down It also provides a check to Lucario. Lastly, Tangrowth is able to pivot into Pokemon which easily burst past Clefable such as Choice Band Breloom and Azumarill, while also making Life Orb Garchomp easier to play around. I would mention Heatran as a partner as with little scouting they cover well each other.

A Magic Guard set utilising a Life Orb can turn Clefable into a potent attacker, making use of its amazing coverage options. Despite that, being forced to run Moonlight as a recovery move makes Clefable much easier to overwhelm, as well as losing out on much of the defensive utility that Unaware brings over Magic Guard. Lastly, a specially defensive or mixed set can also be used to take hits such as Latios's and Alakazam's Psychic better, although this issue is oftentimes easily patched u naturally by its partners, as well as making it much more prone to being overwhelm by the likes of Feraligatr and Azumarill. I would mention Aromatherapy as it has seen a fair usage and maybe Stored Power in conjunction of Calm Mind/Cosmic Power, both being outclassed by respectively Shaymin and Latias in these roles.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Offensive Steel-types such as Magnezone, Jirachi, Heatran, and Lucario easily force Clefable out, but are easily worn down and the latter three hate Thunder Wave. Protect offers a way to lock Magnezone into its move preventing any loss of momentum. Clefable is normally unable to break past Scizor, but it dislikes being paralysed and Scizor would rather be paralyzed than burn to be fair especially if Scizor is trying to pp stall and I don't think it comes often enough to deserve a mention Calm Mind sets can break past it in the long term. However, all of these Steel-types bar Heatran fall to Flamethrower.

**Residual Damage**: Clefable is easily pressured and worn down by entry hazards and put into range of being overwhelmed by the things it is supposed to check. If Clefable gets statused it becomes much easier to break through as well. I would put more emphasis about how the status can be detrimental for Clef i.e Washtom Will-O-Wisp negating lefties, Blissey TWave disturbing Wish+Protect combo.

**Strong Attackers**: Due to its mediocre bulk, Clefable can easily be broken through by powerful wallbreakers such as Choice Band Infernape, Life Orb Garchomp, and Choice Specs Garchomp Latios.

**Taunt/Trick/Whirlwind user**: Clef is overly reliant to the combination of Wish+Protect to be effective so Taunt user like Heatran or Gliscor are very threatening. Also Trick from Rotom Wash makes Clef a dead weigh for the rest of the game. Lastly, Whirlwind from Skarmory negates Clef ability to Wish effectively.

**Knock Off** : there is no many Knock Off user but losing Lefties hurts Clef a lot as it really needs it for important match up like Feraligatr

Here it is, feel free to add and rephrase everything I mention.

Overview >

Wherever u talk about Latios replace it with Latias or change it to something relevant instead.

Same the whole post not in just overview.

Set Comments >

Remove the last part about 44 EVs to outspeed Scizor. Scizor often runs different speed marks its self to outspeed or get slower uturns vs opposing scizors and other threats so wasting 44 EVs that make a big difference in various rolls like 62% vs LO Garchomp isnt worth mentioning.

Where u say that Clefable Deal with the likes of nasty plot Alakazam, mention Focus Sash. Life Orb easily 2koes non spdef Clefables even after leftovers.

Replace Milotic with a different, relevant pokemon as its partner.

Where u say Tangrowth u could include Celebi aswell with its various different utility moves and similar synergies esp vs Crawdaunt.

Set 2 >

Talk about this set too. Its one of the most deadly setups in the tier and the set is always this with often these EVs:
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 68 SpD / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stored Power
- Charge Beam
- Moonlight
- Cosmic Power

But people have used other evspreads too so find the most relevant one or use this one above. Talk about its potential as a setup sweeper and how it can handle whole squads, what partners it likes n such. If you dont have enough info about the set feel free to contact us or people in the discord.

Other Options >

Since we included the set above your other option "Moonlight" should be removed. Same thing with the Stored Power mention in this section as its gonna be included as a set.

In the Other options where u talk about LO mention Focus Blast too for hitting Heatran, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, add detail to it and what coverage it can viably run an why.

When those are added im giving the first QC to this analysis.

just gonna do the second QC myself
from the first qc implement anything except set2

do NOT add the second set here and leave it in OO, stored cosmic is a super MU fish and for now it can sit there unless we're all proven instantly wrong
its a valid set though, so I'd suggest to mention it as a whole in the OO section
