Hey there. I have recently tried to go to www.shoddybattle.com to download the most recent version of shoddy battle. shoddybattle.com is not working whatsoever. The webpage simply does not load. It DOESN'T send me to google search, and I HAVE seen the thread about checking for viruses, which I have done, so it's not a Trojan that' stopping me. So, instead of downloading Shoddy directly from the shoddy battle website, I went to the following link: http://download.cnet.com/Shoddy-Battle-Pokemon-Online/3000-7537_4-10728628.html

I downloaded the program, yet it still is not working. Whenver I try to run Shoddy Battle, the following message pops up:
"Unable to launch the application."

When you click on "Details", under Exception, this message shows:
HTML:

I have the newest version of Java, and I have tested my computer for Trojan and other malware viruses. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program. I can't run the Shoddy Battle program, and the website won't load for me. I have using Windows XP Media Center Edition. Any suggestions?

The odds are impeccable that you have a trojan. Many users have thought they could not possibly have a trojan, only for it to turn out that they did in fact have a trojan. The rogue DNS server does not serve everybody google for shoddybattle.com; it serves any number of arbitrary pages. If I were you, I would look into your DNS settings right now, since you probably do have the trojan. From what mingot and I have seen, anti-virus software is not good at detecting or removing this trojan, so just because your software says you are clean, you may not actually be.

Here are the instructions for checking whether you have the trojan. Please follow them exactly:

http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56229

I have followed those instructions exactly, as stated in my first post. There seems to be no Trojan virus, even after checking again after doing exactly as the thread says. Are there any other ways of detecting whether or not you have a Trojan on your computer or not? At the moment I am using Norton Antivirus to conduct a full system scan. And it's not that shoddy is showing up in a search engine - such as Google - but rather it just doesn't show up at all (The page doesn't load).

Well I followed what it said to do aswell, and the only two boxes that were checked are both the boxes saying 'Obtain an IP adress automaticly'

So if this is happening to more than 1 or 2 users are you sure it's us with the problem?

Here are three screenies I just took.

And I just re-installed java 6. Still diong exactly the same.

P.S.
Yes i'm 17 and I still love DBZ and pokemon XD

Those screenshots are all completely useless, and we already established you had the trojan at one point.

I'm not an expert on Windows, so maybe the rogue DNS servers show up somewhere else. Here's what I want you to do. Open up a command terminal and then do
Code:
ping shoddybattle.com
Post the output here. There is clearly something wrong if shoddybattle.com doesn't load for you and I can attempt to figure it out for you, but I make no promises because it's not my responsibility to remove trojans from your computer.

This trojan thing is not some sort of cop out. My DNS servers are fine. If shoddybattle.com does not load for you, there is something wrong with one of the following things:
  • Your web browser
  • Your computer's DNS settings
  • Your router's DNS settings
  • Your ISP's DNS settings
The second option is by far the most likely.

I have no clue what this means. I'm quite sure there's nothing wrong with my internet browser because I have the newest versions of both Firefox and Internet Explorer, and I haven't a clue about what DNS settings are.

Neither firefox, nor opera load the shoddywebsite or download page, so it can't be mine either.
Plus I clear my firefix cache, cookies, history, everything everyday.

And I cleared opera's cache and cookies yesterday.

policy, your DNS settings are evidently fine, but for some reason you aren't able to communicate with the host. I have no idea why, but I don't think it's a trojan. It could be a problem with your ISP.

You, Neotoxicblitz, have a trojan still. You are getting the wrong IP when you ping the site and it is the trojan IP. I am not a trojan removal expert; contact somebody else about that.

Okay well my Internet Service Provider would be Cogeco Cable. If anyone else who is using Cogeco is having problems accessing shoddy battle, could they please let me know? thanks.

Please don't bump old threads. The registry may be down for now. If you're looking to connect to the Smogon University server, select Advanced on the server screen and type in shoddybattle.com for the Host and 50000 for the Port. You may wish to try the Refresh button first. Good luck!
