[BH] Mega-Diancie (QC 0/3)

Mega Diancie

OVERVIEW

  • Mega-Diancie is a fearsome mixed offensive Pokemon in the Balanced Hackmons meta

  • It has a multitude of sets that it can run reliably and is thus a very hard to prepare for offensive pokemon

  • Blistering dual 160 attacking stats and a respectable 110 speed and bulk means it can break teams with ease and stand more than a few hits

  • Fairy as an offensive type is only walled by 2 typings, only one of which is generally viable in Balanced Hackmons

PIXILATE MEGA-DIANCIE

Diancie-Mega @ Pixie Plate / Expert Belt

Ability: Pixilate

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe

Hasty Nature

- Boomburst

- Extreme Speed

- V-create / Precipice Blades

- Volt Switch / Spikes / Sunsteel Strike

SET COMMENTS

Moves

  • Boomburst is a reliable, high power move that benefits from Pixilate - it allow Mega-Diancie to shred through Pokemon weak to Fairy and do decent chip to resists

  • Extreme speed is reliable pixilate boosted priority that can be used to take out faster threats or pick off pokemon that are weakened

  • V-create is a decently reliable move that can be used to take out usual fairy switch-ins such as steel types. However, due to the prevalence of Flash Fire steel types Precipice blades can also be used to reliably hurt steel type switch-ins.

  • Volt switch can be used to gain momentum versus switch-ins that M-Diancie cannot reliably hurt (example: Flash Fire Steel types) and helps to deal with regenvest water types like Primal Kyogre. Spikes can be run on this slot too as M-Diancie reliably threatens most common Magic-Bounce users and defoggers. Sunsteel strike can also be used as a way to threaten Sturdy Shedinja and hit imposter hard.

Set Details

  • A positive speed boosting nature should generally be ran to gain the most potential out of Mega-Diancie’s good speed stat

  • Pixie Plate allows stronger fairy moves and is a good item to use due to the fact that it allows M-Diancie to reliably live through the game while being able to fire off strong fairy based moves

  • Expert belt can be used as well to more reliably OHKO steel types with coverage moves

  • A mixed nature is preferred as M-Diancie prefers running mixed coverage.

  • This is considered M-Diancie’s premier, flagship set.

Usage Tips

  • M-Diancie should ideally be used as an offensive threat and not as a defensive switch in to many things

  • While it has respectable bulk, it is considered frail in the metagame and should therefore be played with this in mind

  • It can be used to weaken or get rid of steel types for other sweepers and or weaken walls

  • It should generally be used as a breaker or a cleaner

  • It’s a good idea to scout for moves such as Sunsteel strike on steel types such as Solgaleo so that you do not lose M-Diancie early game

  • It’s best to keep M-Diancie alive if breaking is needed throughout the game

Team Options

  • M-Diancie pairs well with slow defensive steel types due to the fact that they both generally imposterproof M-Diancie against opposing imposter chansey / blissey and due to the fact that they can bring M-Diancie in safely to break

  • Offensive threats such as Psychic Surge Mega Mewtwo Y, Poison Heal Regigigas, Aerilate Mega-Rayquaza, and refrigerate Kyurem B/W generally pair well with M-Diancie.

  • Good steel type partners for M-Diancie include: Registeel, Solgaleo, Celesteela and Aegislash. Flash Fire is recommended as an ability if you are running V-create as coverage. If you choose to run precipice blades Celesteela and levitate steels make good partners.

  • Fur coat Chansey also makes a good partner and allows M-Diancie to use nearly any-coverage it wishes

Other Options

  • M-Diancie can reliably run a magic guard set using moves such as Light of Ruin / Mind Blown/ Head Smash, etc. However this set is wholly outclassed by pixilate.

  • M-Diancie can also reliably run a sheer force set, however this set is outclassed by other sheer force users such as Mega-Mewtwo-Y who threaten teams better

  • Choice scarf can be used on Pixilate Mega-Diancie to turn it into a fearsome late game cleaner when combined with Boomburst
  • Fake out can also be considered to make M-Diancie a fearsome Fake-Speed user, however due to the prevalence of priority blocking moves in the current meta it is generally not recommended.

  • You can use lum berry or safety goggles to help prevent sleep based strategies from harming M-Diancie however it generally isn't recommended due to the lackluster damage output that comes from foregoing an item

  • Shell Smash can be run over any other 4th move ability to turn M-Diancie into a fearsome sweeper, however this role is generally better fulfilled by other pokemon

  • Life orb can be run to provide good damage output, however it requires support such as Darkinium-Z parting shot to help M-Diancie to maintain its longevity

  • A set using choice-specs can also be considered on pixilate for great damage, however it is not recommended due to the fact that generally M-Diancie prefers to switch up moves.

Checks and counters

  • Flash Fire Steel types such as Registeel, Solgaleo, Celesteela and Aegsilash make reliable switch-ins to M-Diancie

  • Faster offensive threats with priority blocking abilities such as Mega-Mewtwo-Y make good checks to M-Diancie

  • Fur Coat chansey can reliably wall most variants of M-Diancie

  • Soundproof users such as M-Audino can reliably check M-Diancie if it lacks Techno Blast

  • Bulky Regen-vest pokemon such as Primal-Kyogre can reliably counter M-Diancie

  • Status such as spore etc. can cause problems for M-Diancie

Change this to something like that its great offensive stats let it get around common counters to the pixilate set
Blistering dual 160 attacking stats and a respectable 110 speed and bulk means it can break teams with ease and stand more than a few hits

Fairy as an offensive type is only walled by 2 typings, only one of which is generally viable in Balanced Hackmons

I would slash fake out here, and remove it from OO. It is good enough to warrant a position on the set, even if there rae Psysurge users.

SET COMMENTS

Moves

Boomburst is a reliable, high power move that benefits from Pixilate - it allow Mega-Diancie to shred through Pokemon weak to Fairy and do decent chip to resists
Hits neutral targets except very specially bulky pokemon such as AV Kyogre-p and Chansey for 2hKOs
Extreme speed is reliable pixilate boosted priority that can be used to take out faster threats or pick off pokemon that are weakened
great for killing Dragons. Comboed with fakeout can kill any dragon that is not neutral to the move including Mega Ray, Megachomp, Ultra Necro, before they can KO you back.
V-create is a decently reliable move that can be used to take out usual fairy switch-ins such as steel types. However, due to the prevalence of Flash Fire steel types Precipice blades can also be used to reliably hurt steel type switch-ins.

Volt switch can be used to gain momentum versus switch-ins that M-Diancie cannot reliably hurt (example: Flash Fire Steel types) and helps to deal with regenvest water types like Primal Kyogre. Spikes can be run on this slot too as M-Diancie reliably threatens most common Magic-Bounce users and defoggers. Sunsteel strike can also be used as a way to threaten Sturdy Shedinja and hit imposter hard.

Set Details

A positive speed boosting nature should generally be ran to gain the most potential out of Mega-Diancie’s good speed stat
Needed to outspeed neutral base 100's. Rash nature okay if you don't care about this, as it can still outspeed Kyurem-b and primals.
Pixie Plate allows stronger fairy moves and is a good item to use due to the fact that it allows M-Diancie to reliably live through the game while being able to fire off strong fairy based moves
Consider Safety goggles, which allows you to beat Triage Megaray, since you can resist spore and KO through any subs it makes with Boomburst, and +3 Owing doesn't kill you. Run this with a +spatk nature though, to offset the power drop a bit.
Expert belt can be used as well to more reliably OHKO steel types with coverage moves
Not a fan, show some calcs where it matters maybe? I'm willing to try it if it's actually a good tradeoff
A mixed nature is preferred as M-Diancie prefers running mixed coverage.
you choose hasty because it doesn't lower its offensive stats and you want to keep up its physical bulk so it can take priority a bit better
This is considered M-Diancie’s premier, flagship set.
Change this to something about how Pixilate changes all normal moves into Fairy moves so it has powerful and priority STAB

Usage Tips
A lot of these are fluff, this mon is mega easy to use. Just get it in safely, lure the steel or remove it with a teammate, then spam boomburst or eSpeed on faster stuff
M-Diancie should ideally be used as an offensive threat and not as a defensive switch in to many things
You can sometimes switch it into predicted Dragon moves of slower pokes, like Giratina trying to Core Enforce you, because none of its common moves can KO you from full, or into a Contrary Dragon like Megaray if you predict a Draco. But if they go for v-create and speed up, they can live even a fakespeed with +1 defenses and KO you.
While it has respectable bulk, it is considered frail in the metagame and should therefore be played with this in mind

It can be used to weaken or get rid of steel types for other sweepers and or weaken walls
move to team options
It should generally be used as a breaker or a cleaner
And
It’s a good idea to scout for moves such as Sunsteel strike on steel types such as Solgaleo so that you do not lose M-Diancie early game
If a Steel type like Solgaleo switches in and it doesn't take too much dmg from Boomburst you should probably switch it out because it is probably wearing an Assault Vest and will hit you with sunsteel strike.
It’s best to keep M-Diancie alive if breaking is needed throughout the game
Also switch it out of fast Psychic Surgers like MMX and MMY, they can KO it from full and stops your priority from working. You should be really careful about these, because the switch out can give them a chance to set up on you with Shell Smash.

Team Options

M-Diancie pairs well with slow defensive steel types due to the fact that they both generally imposterproof M-Diancie against opposing imposter chansey / blissey and due to the fact that they can bring M-Diancie in safely to break
Remove blissey because you shouldn't be encouraging people to use it. It sucks. Move the steel types bullet from the third bullet to up here. They can also bring it in via slow pivot. Other improofs like Soundproof Groudon work here too,Groudon is cool because it blocks Volt Switch and can trap an Imposter Switch in with Anchor Shot.
Offensive threats such as Psychic Surge Mega Mewtwo Y, Poison Heal Regigigas, Aerilate Mega-Rayquaza, and refrigerate Kyurem B/W generally pair well with M-Diancie.
Psysurge MMY makes it way worse because it blocks Diancie's priority from working. Contrary or Sheer Force MMY is cool though. Lets you severely pressure walls.
Good steel type partners for M-Diancie include: Registeel, Solgaleo, Celesteela and Aegislash. Flash Fire is recommended as an ability if you are running V-create as coverage. If you choose to run precipice blades Celesteela and levitate steels make good partners.

Fur coat Chansey also makes a good partner and allows M-Diancie to use nearly any-coverage it wishes
How much dmg does Sunsteel strike do to that thing?

Other Options

M-Diancie can reliably run a magic guard set using moves such as Light of Ruin / Mind Blown/ Head Smash, etc. However this set is wholly outclassed by pixilate.
I would seriously consider Magic Guard as a set on here, it can blast through Steels with Flair Blitz without worrying about lowering its stats and 2hKOS any of them (Mind blown only manages to deal 50% maximum to AV Registeel, so it can actually survive that and Spectral Thef you). And doesn't take any damage from hazards or status effects or life orb, which makes all its moves a good deal stronger. Light of Ruin outdamages Boomburst, Head Smash has a chance to 2hKO Fur Coat Chansey on the switch after rocks damage too. You can customize the fourth move to fit your team, though usually they run shell smash. Sunsteel strike kills Sheddies, Shift Gear is a bit easier to improof and speeds you up way more so you can kill scarfers. Flash Fire Registeel or Stakataka improof it really well, even after +2. The biggest downside to it is that both the STAB moves have a tendency to miss at really bad times.

M-Diancie can also reliably run a sheer force set, however this set is outclassed by other sheer force users such as Mega-Mewtwo-Y who threaten teams better
I've never seen Sheer Force anywhere on ladder. probably remove
Choice scarf can be used on Pixilate Mega-Diancie to turn it into a fearsome late game cleaner when combined with Boomburst

Fake out can also be considered to make M-Diancie a fearsome Fake-Speed user, however due to the prevalence of priority blocking moves in the current meta it is generally not recommended.
As I said, it's probably good enogh for the main set.
You can use lum berry or safety goggles to help prevent sleep based strategies from harming M-Diancie however it generally isn't recommended due to the lackluster damage output that comes from foregoing an item

Shell Smash can be run over any other 4th move ability to turn M-Diancie into a fearsome sweeper, however this role is generally better fulfilled by other pokemon

Life orb can be run to provide good damage output, however it requires support such as Darkinium-Z parting shot to help M-Diancie to maintain its longevity

A set using choice-specs can also be considered on pixilate for great damage, however it is not recommended due to the fact that generally M-Diancie prefers to switch up moves.
The reason this set doesn't work is because It's too slow, outsped by mega ray, MMx and MMY, Deoxys-a, mega Sceptile, etc. Its defensive typing isn't great and it's not bulky enough to take more than 1 strong hit
I also like Stealth Rock > spikes but there are better rockers out there.

Checks and counters

Flash Fire Steel types such as Registeel, Solgaleo, Celesteela and Aegsilash make reliable switch-ins to M-Diancie
Unless they carry ground coverage. Celesteela with Primordial sea is really solid, resisting everything but Volt Switch, and it can hit the switchin back with a strong Scald.
Faster offensive threats with priority blocking abilities such as Mega-Mewtwo-Y make good checks to M-Diancie
Entrainment Mega Gengar can take an Espeed from full then neutralize Mega Diancie and proceed to set up.
Fur Coat chansey can reliably wall most variants of M-Diancie

Soundproof users such as M-Audino can reliably check M-Diancie if it lacks Techno Blast

Bulky Regen-vest pokemon such as Primal-Kyogre can reliably counter M-Diancie
Volt Switch lets it gain momentum on them. And they just die to the magc Guard set.
Status such as spore etc. can cause problems for M-Diancie
