Rather than recalling their defeated Pokemon, the boarders simply leave them where they are and send out their replacement.

Discussion with the other mods has yielded the following (paraphrased) ruling: Encore is "wasted" when used on a Pokemon charging an attack/readying Focus Punch because the Encore effect cannot overwrite the charged move its recipient has already committed to using.

The boarders have withdrawn from the bridge and began to escape down the hallway, leaving their Pokemon behind. You recall your own Pokemon and dismiss the thought of helping those left behind, despite yourself. It stands to reason, based on their mannerisms and on what you've observed, that what the boarders used to battle you may not have been Pokemon as you know them. Pushing through your exertion, you begin to run after the boarders in bounding steps. No matter what you must do to get them to talk, you must have answers from them.

The remains of the bridge section of the ship are vastly smaller than the jettisoned portion. In what feels like only moments, you arrive at the bridge's limits. At the end of the hall, the bulkhead that sealed the area beforehand lay open, and the vacuum of space is held at bay by a field instead. Beyond, clearly visible but receding fast, are the boarders you've been pursuing! One pushes off from the ship to drift after the other, having launched ahead. Dominating the view beyond is an immense, sleek space-faring vessel unlike any that you have seen. It has a streamlined, black form that reflects and refracts the colors of the stars dotting the sky in all directions.

As your targets drift away, more and more questions crop up in your mind. The field before you is of standard issue, permeable to solid objects (and their contents) but sufficient to keep loose air from spilling outward.


However, between you and your goal is the bleakness of empty space, and you'll need to cushion your landing as well. How do you give chase?

"Whatever the case, we can't let them return to their ship! I can carry us to them so that we can drag them back!"


"No. We cannot survive the vacuum of space, which makes a full pursuit impossible. We must stop our disguised friends from escaping through other means."


"Let's try rope skill, then. It'll be just like fishing!"

Mawile will use Grass Knot to create tethers and then use Seismic Toss to lasso the retreating boarders with them.


Flygon will use Strength to help Mawile pull the boarders back to our presence once she has ensnared them.

You set to work, creating your makeshift tether as your quarry recede into the blackness of the looming ship. Exhausted, and uncertain as to whether this plan will even succeed, you and your Pokemon join forces to hurl your desperate lifeline after your escaping prey.

Propelled by your effort, it flies into the inky blackness and... Nothing? With Flygon's might, the rope travels at a respectable speed in the vacuum before reaching its maximum length of, perhaps, a few dozen meters.

The enormity of the gulf between the ships begins to grasp you. What were you thinking? The lack of calories is clearly affecting you. The ships could be kilometers apart, and your quarry is but a pair of specks against the vastness of the unknown vessel's hull. If you are to give chase and have the answers you seek, from the only possible source of answers, you are going to have to make
ingress to the vessel. If you can trap enough air, and launch with enough speed, and land without crushing your bones, you could very well make it. The far vessel's engine doesn't seem to be powered for motion at the moment, and the wretched remains of the cruise liner's bridge is unfit for supporting life as you know it regardless.

How do you secure the air, propulsion, and landing safety you need in order to give chase?
 

"Hmm...that was a bad idea. We probably should have brought more than stones, metal, and grass on a spacefaring vacation. I think we're underprepared for spaceflight."

"We'll make our own craft. If we cushion our landing, we should be able to avoid depressurization when we arrive."


Mawile will construct an airtight stone shell using Rock Tomb and then use her Pokedex Entry (DPP– Attached to its head is a huge set of jaws formed by horns. It can chew through iron beams.) to chew through the remnants of the shell—and, if necessary, the alien craft's hull—upon landing safely.


Flygon will use Mud Shot to coat the outside of our ship with thick, sticky layers of impact-softening mud, then use Hyper Beam from within the shell to propel us to the alien craft. Just before crossing the airlock barrier, it will plug our ship's "thruster" hole with material from its own Rock Tomb.
