Facility Battle Tree Challenge: F Amadon

Only Florina Liastacia and the current referee should be posting in this thread.

Pokemon #1: Max, short for Max Volume
Pokemon Ability: Scrappy
Pokemon Attitude: Max is a (ironically) soft-spoken, kind Exploud who gets loud when she's angry, often on behalf of someone else.
Pokemon Background: Max works in musical composition- specifically, classical and orchestral music. A soft french horn is her favorite instrument.

Pokemon #2: Genghis Khan the Gengar
Pokemon Ability: Levitate Cursed Body
Pokemon Attitude: Confident and cock-sure, Genghis is certain he is a force to be reckoned with, and refuses all evidence to the contrary.
Pokemon Background: Genghis was a war criminal mercenary in a past life, and death has not tamed his eagerness for a fight. He tried to take over a forest once, but was refuted by the fact that the forests denizens, being an amount higher than one, outnumbered him.

============================================

You have been living aboard the H.M.S. Liriodendron for a while now. The massive space vehicle can hold thousands and thousands of inhabitants, people and Pokemon alike, many of which you've never met before, probably living in a pod that you've never even come close to seeing. Your pod is a quaint one, in quadrant epsilon 9. You've slowly become acquainted with the two others who live next door, despite never learning their names, and have lived in peace with them. All of you going about your business with your Pokemon without a problem... until now.

You wake up from your quarters, to countless sirens blaring. Red lights are flashing overhead almost blinding you every time they go off. After you take a moment to gather yourself you look over at the screen in your room and two main notices catch your eye. "Epsilon Sector Control Room Failure" reads the first. "Negative Hallway Pressure" reads the second.

Each sector is responsible for the maintenance of their own control room so its probably in your best interest to head over there and start figuring out what the issue is. To do so means leaving your room, and to leave your room means entering the hallway where the second warning is. A quick look out your room's hallway window shows the source of the problem: the airlock doors have been pried apart. The large slabs of metal appear to have the imprint of large talons indented right into them, and it looks like they have been shifted off their tracks just enough so that they won't close on their own.

As the sirens continue to blare and the lights continue to flash, you know that you'll have to find a way to safely get through the hallway and into the common area to proceed to the control room. Unfortunately the threat of being sucked into the emptiness of space is putting a wrench into that plan.

Florina Liastacia, Genghis and Max, how will you get through the hallway safely?

"Alright, we're going to have to coordinate here! Max, send me flying; Genghis, go through the wall to open the door to the common area!"

Gengar, using his ghostliness, phases through the wall to get to the opening button for the common room. Meanwhile, Exploud takes most of the air from the room into herself, and then, when Trankvila opens her room door, lets it out in a Whirlwind to propel Trankvila into the common room, where she recalls Max and Genghis into their Pokeballs.

You communicate your plan with your Pokemon and set forth to putting it into action. Max begins inhaling deeply as Genghis phazes through the wall, right in the area that would allow him to emerge beside the control pad for the common room door. As the air leaves the room and enters Max's lungs, you begin to feel a little faint, with the level of Oxygen decreasing to a level lower than you're used to.

As soon as you hear Max's inhalation stop, you press the button to open the door to your quarters. Max sends a massive gust of Whirlwild out the door and propels you down the hallway with great force; you move much faster than you anticipated, but then again, Whirlwinds like this can push an Aggron.

The momentum carries you down the hall quickly, and luckily, just as you are to collide with the common room door, Genghis presses the button and the large metallic slabs fly to the side. You recall both Genghis and Max just as you pass the threshold of the doors but the momentum pushes you a but too quickly and before you have the chance to gain your balance you collide into something.

+2TC

Shaken from the chaos of the trip down the hallway, and your abrupt stop, you take a moment to gather yourself before scanning the room. You look over your shoulder and notice that thankfully these doors have closed themselves as they're designed to do. On the other side of you however, you find something a bit less comforting - the thing you collided with turns out to be a woman.

Work Up

The woman stands up and dusts herself off slightly before acknowledging your presence.

"Well this isn't how things are supposed to go. You were supposed to stay in your room..."

"Oh well, at least this makes my time watching guard a lot more interesting. Corviknight why don't you escort our new friend back into the hallway."

Florina Liastacia, please send out a Pokemon to face Beauty Alyssa

"Whatever you're up to, I get the feeling it won't work out for most of us. Max, let's put an end to it!"
:bw/exploud: "We won't let you blow more holes in the ship! What if someone gets hurt?"

Fire Blast > Flamethrower > Fireblast
(CASOA) IF Agility OR Tailwind OR Taunt AND Exploud is faster AND Corviknight is not taunted THEN Taunt and push

"You silly little things, no one was supposed to get hurt! Youu were supposed to stay in your room and behave while The Boss gets everything in order!"

Just as your opponent finishes her sentence a smoky haze starts to collect along the ceiling, pouring in from the ventilation system.

"Well that's a good sign, now go back to your room so the plan can continue!"

"Now won't you be a doll and head back to your room now? I need to clean up after that, you made me sweat in my new uniform?"

The woman pulls out a gas mask as the haze you noticed earlier starts filling the room quicker than before. You try to hold your breath but before you know it the oxygen is depleting in your lungs.

The next thing you know you are awake back in your quarters, unsure of how much time has passed. You bolt upright and check yourself for the Pokeballs of Genghis and Max, luckily they are both safe and sound and appear to have had enough time to rest after battle. Once you gather yourself more, you realize that the flashing lights and warnings have stopped. You look out the window to the hall and everything appears fine.

After a few minutes of finding your bearings, you hear a noise coming from down the hall, near the common area where your battle was. Eager to find out what's happening you rush out your room and down the hall to see the ships security dragging a man in handcuffs. Looking closer you realize it was one of your podmates! You quickly connect the dots and discern that he must have been the boss the woman was referencing in your battle.

"YOU! You're the one who ruined all of this! If you hadn't messed with the pressure systems in this sector I would have gotten away with it! Gah, you threw all of my calculations off! It was perfect!"

It turns out your podmate must have been hijacking the ship, but your crafty escape from your room was enough to give security time to arrive! The guards carry the man out of sight and you are able to finally take a breath of relief.

Later that night you head to the mess hall for your first meal in what feels like weeks. The ship is back to normal for now, but with how crazy things got overnight, you eat your dinner unsure of how long that will last.

Stage 3/5

Types: Fire

STAB; immune to burn status.

Abilities:

Run Away / Flash Fire / Flame Body (Unlocked)

Run Away: This Pokemon is quick on its feet and will evade any field traps and hazards that would harm it (Spikes, Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes) in an arena. A Pokemon can still absorb Toxic Spikes if it has Run Away and is Poison-typed. Run Away does not allow the Pokemon to switch out of trapping moves or abilities, however it can escape other situational trapping strategies in battle.

Flash Fire: This Pokemon thrives in high temperatures, and takes the energy of any opposing fire attack, nullifies the damage, and uses the additional power to boost its own fire attack's Base Attack Power by three (3).

Flame Body: This Pokemon's external temperature is kept at such a high level that any contact attack used on this Pokemon has a 30% chance of burning the opponent.

Nestled deep in the northern reaches of Sinnoh, it is said that there is a remote village with a secret to make Bug type Pokemon stronger. Seeking a way to make their Beedrill stronger, a trainer has come to look for this village. Starting off in the snowy Route 217, they seek a path from an old map they found at the flea market. Not the most auspicious of places to find a map, but it's a start at least. The snow is light today, coming down as a mere trickle, and you could almost see the light shining in it like diamond dust. The map leads them to an old, almost unbeaten path to the west of the standard route. A stone monolith marks the beginning of the path, and engraved upon it is the following message, surprisingly well kept:

"Neglect not even the smallest of creatures, for they hide the strongest of spirits."

The trainer studies the tablet, surely this is the right way? As they ponder this, their faithful steed, Hyphen the Rapidash hears a soft cry. They immediately head over to the source of the sound, their trainer following closely behind. In the shrubbery, they find a Pokemon, a young Wurmple, crying all alone. The trainer and their team get the Wurmple to calm down. It would appear that this Wurmple is very young, and has lost track of it's parents. However, this snowy forest is very thick, and it might take a while to find the Beautifly and/or Dustox that qualify if you try to find them on foot.

How will you find the lost Wurmple's parents, Florina?

"This is so sad, you two. But here's how we're going to help! Hyphen, you're going to clear the skies with Sunny Day, so that Queenpin can fly up with her wings for an aerial view!"

:bw/beedrill: "You got it, boss."

:bw/rapidash: "I'll be glad the cold will be gone!"

Wanting to help out the poor Wurmple, the two Pokemon get to work. Hyphen sends and orb of light into the sky, heating up the area and clearing out the snow. Meanwhile Queenpin flies up high into the sky to get an aerial view of the nearby area, hoping to find some sign of the Wurmple's parents. It doesn't take long for Queenpin to see a Beautifly and Dustox, searching frantically for something. This seems like a reasonable lead, so Queenpin flies down and directs the party in the two Bug types' general direction.

Success! +2 RPT

However, the party only goes about three steps when suddenly the Wurmple disappears! The trio frantically search the area, and find that their friend has been pinned down by a Monferno.

:Monferno: "Hehe! This'll be a good lunch!"

Monferno then gets pelted by a rock to the back of the head. The party looks to where it came from, and sees a Trumbeak.

:Trumbeak: "Hey! I saw that first you jerk! It's my lunch!"

The two Pokemon bicker for a while on who gets dibs on the Wurmple, but the trio aren't going to put up with this, and take fighting positions!

:Trumbeak: "What, now a human wants to get in on the action? I didn't think they ate worms. No matter, I, the great Trumbeak, will put an end to your insolence!"

Trumbeak comes out to fight. (*checks profile*) Trankvila will need to choose a Pokemon to face the Trumbeak directly, while the other distracts the Monferno from munching on the Wurmple.

Florina Liastacia to order.

:bw/beedrill: "Humans don't eat worms, but they've been known to eat pesky birds sometimes! Now, scram, before we make you!"
