- Focus Blast

[SET COMMENTS]
Hoopa-U, by virtue of its great coverage and high Attack and Special Attack stats, is a great mixed attacker on Dark teams. Furthermore, its excellent Special Defense further boosted by Assault Vest allows it to tank hits other Dark-types struggle with, such as Choice Scarf Iron Valiant's Moonblast and Choice Specs Kyurem's Draco Meteor. Psychic threatens Poison- and Fighting-types that Dark teams struggle with like Galarian Weezing, Toxapex, Iron Valiant, and Okidogi. Knock Off allows Hoopa-U to remove items from holders such as Heavy-Duty Boots from Volcarona, Talonflame, and Articuno, which is appreciated by its hazard-stacking teammates. Focus Blast threatens bulky Pokemon that can otherwise shrug off Hoopa-U's attacks such as Archaludon and Heatran. Thunderbolt threatens Flying-types such as Gyarados, Corviknight, Skarmory, and Pelipper. 36 Special Defense EVs in tandem with a Gentle nature allows it to easily take hits from Iron Valiant and Keldeo, while 96 Speed EVs allows Hoopa-U to outspeed and threaten Magnezone and Archaludon.

Ting-Lu and Sableye are great defensive partners for Hoopa-U, as their great physical bulk allow them to take hits from attackers such as Kingambit, Iron Boulder, and Excadrill. Ting-Lu also provides entry hazard support in Stealth Rock and Spikes and phazes out setup sweepers like Dragon Dance Dragonite and Dragon Dance Gouging Fire with Whirlwind, while Sableye provides a Fighting immunity while shutting down wallbreakers like Choice Band Excadrill and Choice Band Zamazenta with Will-O-Wisp, and it also takes advantage of setup sweepers such as Iron Defense Zamazenta and Dragon Dance Dragapult with Encore. Mandibuzz provides Defog support so Hoopa-U does not fear hazards when switching in, an immunity to Ground, slow pivoting with U-turn, and it takes advantage of physical attackers like Excadrill, Scizor, and Ceruledge with Foul Play. Alolan Muk takes off pressure from Hoopa-U by aiding it in handling Fairy-types such as Hatterene, Iron Valiant, and Primarina. Choice Scarf Meowscarada and Choice Specs Greninja make for great teammates, as with their great Speed tiers and ability, they are able to take care of threats to Hoopa-U. Meowscarada handles Choice Scarf Roaring Moon, Dragapult, and Urshifu-R, while Greninja threatens Great Tusk, Tornadus-T, and Mamoswine. Chien-Pao is a great wallbreaker to pair with Hoopa-U, as with its high Attack stat and ability, it easily shreds through special walls Hoopa-U struggles with such as Ting-Lu and Porygon2. Kingambit is a great potential wincon, as with its excellent ability, access to Swords Dance, and access to Sucker Punch, it shines in the late-game to deal with frail offensive threats like Flutter Mane.

Knock Off allows Hoopa-U to remove items from holders such as Heavy-Duty Boots from Volcarona, Talonflame, and Articuno i would expand quickly on why these mons losing boots is good for dark teams, otherwise this is just dex info. Focus Blast threatens physically bulky Pokemon that can otherwise shrug off Hoopa-U's attacks such as Archaludon and Ursaluna-B.
