1v1 Annihilape [Roseli Berry] [QC: 2/2] [GP: 1/1]]

[SET]
name: Roseli Berry
move 1: Bulk Up
move 2: Gunk Shot
move 3: Rage Fist
move 4: Drain Punch / Counter / Taunt / Encore
item: Roseli Berry
ability: Defiant
nature: Careful
evs: 136 HP / 116 Atk / 240 SpD / 16 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
*Defiant lets Annihilape counter stat-lowering strategies, such as Arcanine's Intimidate and Charm Azumarill.
*Roseli Berry lets Annihilape beat Fairy-types that it usually struggles or outright can't win against, such as Sylveon and Azumarill, along with Pokemon with Fairy coverage such as Play Rough + Choice Band Meowscarada.
*Bulk Up allows Annihilape to survive longer and boost Rage Fist's power, both by boosting Attack and taking hits, in front of foes such as Donphan.
*Gunk Shot is Annihilape's strongest move against most Fairy-types, such as Azumarill and Sylveon.
*Drain Punch nails Dark types, such as Ting-Lu and Chien Pao, alongside giving recovery against foes such as Donphan and Weakness Policy Ting-Lu.
*Counter can OHKO physical attackers Annihilape cannot damage easily, such as non-Swords Dance Iron Hands and Azumarill.
*Taunt and Encore are both used to disrupt various strategies. Taunt is better in denying offensive setup from foes, like opposing Annihilape, and blocking slower Taunt or Encore users such as uninvested Corviknight and Donphan. Encore better punishes defensive setup, such as Garganacl's Iron Defense and stall Arcanine.
* Annihilape's last moveslot comes with a lot of opportunity costs. Removing Drain Punch gives harder matchups against Dark-types like Ting-Lu. Not slotting Counter forces it to hit physical Fairy-types like Azumarill and Play Rough Meowscarada with Gunk Shot, which has lower accuracy.
*The HP and Special Defense investment with a Careful nature allows Annihilape to survive a Hyper Beam from Modest Choice Specs Sylveon. 116 Atk EVs let it 2HKO most Sylveon with Gunk Shot turn 1 and Rage Fist turn 2, minimizing miss chances. The remaining EVs are put in Speed to outspeed Modest Sylveon and Modest Magnezone.
* Annihilape struggles to deal with faster Pokemon with super effective STAB moves like Talonflame, most Dragapult, and faster Taunt users such as Booster Energy Great Tusk and Corviknight.

*Defiant gives Annihilape counterplay against Pokémon that can lower its stats, such as Intimidate users like Arcanine or Charm users like Flutter Mane and Stall Azumarill.
*Roseli Berry gives Annihilape an opportunity to beat Fairies that it usually struggles or outright can't win against. L, letting it turn the tables against Fairy types such as Sylveon and Azumarill, along with Pokémon who have Fairy coverage such as Play Rough Meowscarada.
*Bulk Up increases Annihilape's already good Attack and Defense. It pairs well with Annihilape's signature move, Rage Fist., allowing Annihilape to survive longer and boost Rage Fist's power.
*Gunk Shot is Annihilape's strongest move against special Fairies that aren't Flutter Mane, such as Sylveon. against most Fairy types, such as Stall Azumarill and Sylveon.
*Drain Punch gives Annihilape Fighting STAB against Dark types, such as Ting-Lu and Chien Pao, and recovery.
*Counter helps Annihilape OHKO back Physical hitters it cannot deal damage easily such as Great Tusk (i wouldnt mention this, as speed booster great tusk wins, find other example) and Iron Hands. It also returns back physical Fairy moves thanks to Roseli Berry, such as Spirit Break from Iron Valiant or Play Rough from Azumarill and Meowscarada. (i wouldnt mention this, you already mentioned physical moves earlier)
*Taunt and Encore are both used viable (if it wasnt viable it wouldnt be on the analysis) to break stall Pokémon from their usual strategies prevent status moves that may threaten Annihilape, such as Corviknight and Garganacl Stall Arcanine. (wouldnt mention corv here, it can win with either a faster set or mental herb. garganacl is kinda weird an an example, try to find others)
*The HP and Special Defense EVs investment with a Careful nature gives Annihilape the bulk to tank a allows Annihilape to survive Hyper Beam from Modest Choice Specs Sylveon with optimal HP. and a Play Rough from Choice Band Azumarill (not needed to mention this, as ape isnt specifically EVing for cb azu). The Attack EVs are enough to 2HKO Azumarill with Gunk Shot. 116 Atk EVs secures the roll to 2HKO most Sylveon with Gunk Shot turn 1 and Rage Fist turn 2, minimising miss chances. The remaining EVs are put into Speed which helps Annihilape outspeed Pokémon such as Magnezone and Rotom-Wash/Heat. The remaining EVs are put to outspeed Modest Sylveon and Modest Magnezone.
*Despite having a counterplay to Fairies, it's still weak to Psychic, Flying and Ghost types such as Farigiraf, Talonflame and Gholdengo. Hence, the player must be cautious in sending out Annihilape or not. (this is just 1v1 bruh)

(clarity is always nice)
*Bulk Up increases Annihilape's already good Attack and Defense, allowing Annihilape to survive longer and boost Rage Fist's power. (any matchups this is especially useful?)
*Gunk Shot is Annihilape's strongest move against most Fairy types, such as Stall Azumarill and Sylveon.
*Drain Punch gives Annihilape Fighting STAB against Dark-types, such as Ting-Lu and Chien Pao, and recovery. (any specific cases where recovery decides a matchup?)
*Counter helps Annihilape OHKO back Physical hitters it cannot deal damage easily such as Iron Hands and Azumarill.
*Taunt and Encore are both used to break stall Pokémon from their usual strategies, such as stall Arcanine. (other examples would be nice to include, arc isn't the only potent stall/defensive mon)
*The HP and Special Defense investment with a Careful nature allows Annihilape to survive a Hyper Beam from Modest Choice Specs Sylveon with optimal HP. 116 Atk EVs secures the roll to 2HKO most Sylveon with Gunk Shot turn 1 and Rage Fist turn 2, minimizing miss chances. *Annihilape struggles to deal with faster Pokemon with super-effective STAB like Talonflame, most Dragapult, and Gholdengo which often OHKO it before it can use its boosted Rage Fist. Fast Taunt users like Speed Booster Great Tusk and Corviknight can also shut down Annihilape and set up on it easily with Bulk Up and Iron Defense respectively.
*Annihilape's last moveslot determines many matchups outside of fairy types. Without Taunt or Encore it is easily set up on by Pokemon like Curse Dondozo or Leech Seed Meowscarada. Removing Drain Punch gives harder matchups against Dark-types like Ting-Lu. Not slotting Counter forces you to use Gunk Shot against Physical Fairy-types like Azumarill and Play Rough Meowscarada, which has a lower accuracy.

(you don't have to use this part necessarily but overall it would help to explain the importance of each move and the cost of running one vs the other. General answers to Annihilape here would also be nice to add)

* Defiant gives Annihilape counterplay not really counterplay because it's not something the player is actively doing, rephase slightly against Pokémon that can lower its stats, such as Intimidate users like Arcanine or Charm users like Flutter Mane and stall Azumarill.

* Roseli Berry gives Annihilape an opportunity to beat Fairies Fairy-types that it usually struggles or outright can't win against, letting it turn the tables against Fairy types such as Sylveon and Azumarill, along with Pokémon who have Fairy coverage such as Play Rough Choice Band Meowscarada. * Taunt and Encore are both used to break stall Pokémon from their usual strategies, such as stall Arcanine. (other examples would be nice to include, arc isn't the only potent stall/defensive mon) where might taunt be better than encore (and vice versa)?

* The HP and Special Defense investment with a Careful nature allows Annihilape to survive a Pixilate Hyper Beam from Modest Choice Specs Sylveon with optimal HP. 116 Atk EVs secures the roll not secure if it is unreliable to 2HKO most Sylveon with Gunk Shot turn 1 and Rage Fist turn 2, minimizing miss chances. The remaining EVs are put to outspeed Modest Sylveon and Modest Magnezone.

* Annihilape struggles to deal with faster Pokemon with super-effective STAB like Talonflame, most Dragapult, and Gholdengo which often OHKO it before it can use its boosted Rage Fist.,and faster Taunt users like Speed attack booster is also faster Booster Energy Great Tusk and Corviknight can also shut down Annihilape and set up on it easily with Bulk Up and Iron Defense respectively.

* Annihilape's last moveslot determines many matchups outside of fairy types may be better to say it comes with a lot of opportunity cost. *Gunk Shot is Annihilape's strongest move against most Fairy-types, such as stall Azumarill u win against stall azu without gunk anyways and Sylveon.
*Drain Punch gives Annihilape Fighting STAB against Dark types, such as Ting-Lu and Chien Pao, alongside recovery. Itchy wanted you to mention what recovery helped with so you should probably do that. Some examples are donphan and WP ting lu You can use Close Combat but the defense drops makes it risky.
*Counter helps Annihilape OHKO back physical attackers it cannot deal damage easily such as Iron Hands u lose to sd ihands without encore so just say most sets and Azumarill. surely you beat azu with 2 gunks. you probably don't wanna risk encore+bdrum users, then again they're non existent so you can leave it if you want
*Taunt and Encore are both used to break stall Pokémon from their usual strategies. Taunt is better in denying set-up against foes like Dondozo unless ur taunt+counter you lose due to unaware, maybe I'm wrong? idk or slower Taunt users such as Donphan. donphan does not get taunt, unless u meant encore? phan still loses tho Encore is better in at trapping foes into defensive set-up, such as Clodsire, you probably would want to taunt clod instead to not get statused/clod recovering, and even then what is clod setting up with? or into status moves, such as stall Arcanine and Leech Seed Meowscarada.
*The HP and Special Defense investment with a Careful nature allow Annihilape to survive a Pixilate Hyper Beam from Modest Choice Specs Sylveon. 116 Atk EVs reach the roll to 2HKO most Sylveon with Gunk Shot turn 1 and Rage Fist turn 2, minimizing miss chances. *Defiant gives Annihilape counterplay against Pokemon that can lower its stats, such as Intimidate Arcanine or Charm users like lets Annihilape counter stat-lowering strategies, such as Arcanine's Intimidate or Charm Flutter Mane and stall Azumarill.
*Roseli Berry gives Annihilape an opportunity to lets Annihilape (optional: tack on "possibly") beat Fairy-types that it usually struggles or outright can't win against, (added space) such as Sylveon and Azumarill, along with Pokemon who have Fairy with Fairy-type coverage such as Play Rough + (-comment to make this add easier to see-) Choice Band Meowscarada.
*Bulk Up increases Annihilape's already good Attack and Defense, allowing allows Annihilape to survive longer and boost Rage Fist's power, both by boosting Attack and taking hits, (I imagine? ofc just remove this if it's wrong, though) in front of foes such as Donphan.

*Taunt and Encore are both used to break stall Pokémon from their usual strategies. disrupt stall Pokemon. Taunt is better in denying set-up against offensive setup from (I imagine? clarify if that's misunderstanding smth, though) foes, (AC) like opposing Annihilape or slower Taunt/Encore Annihilape, and blocking slower Taunt or Encore users such as uninvested Corviknight with no speed investment or and Donphan. Encore is better at trapping foes into defensive set-up, such as Garganacl, or into status moves, such as better punishes defensive setup, such as Garganacl's Iron Defense, and stall Arcanine and Leech Seed Meowscarada. (make sure this section still makes sense)

Removing Drain Punch gives harder matchups against Dark-types like Ting-Lu.
