Pending Add a "New" section in the teambuilder for freshly released Pokémon.

To be used for any Pokémon that were previously unavailable, in order to distinguish them at a glance from established OU Pokémon. The section's purpose would be to reduce clutter after large waves of new Pokémon (like the current one after HOME or future ones after the two DLCs) and to visually separate singular releases like raid events from the rest of OU Pokémon, reducing confusion in case those are unviable (like Typhlosion or Inteleon). Mons would be moved out of this section once they are banned to Ubers or after they become part of a usage shift, which would make them either OU or UU.

Wouldn't this just last for like one month? After that, would people really need to filter for new and old Pokemon?
Furthermore, "new waves" like the HOME one and likely the next to come with DLCs consist in about a third of OU relevant pokemon (at least this time, with so many legendaries added) that would still be mixed with the other new Pokemon. What's the benefit of separating perfectly viable OU mons from the rest? It would entail artificially reducing their usage as they'd be less available to the less experienced and the unaware users.
Also, a lot of the "established OU Pokemon" lose viability with the new additions, so that's another reason for them to not be highlighted over the newcomers.
This seems way more problematic in the long run than waiting a couple of months for the tiers to stabilize.

Especially since it seems Pokemon is moving more towards a model that drops new releases every month-ish, I think this is a somewhat sensible option for any player.

Separating the "New" pokemon from the OU doesn't necessarily tell newer players that they're worse than the rest of the OU pokemon, but simply that they're newer additions to the tier and haven't yet been determine to be either good or bad options.

The "New" tag clearly wouldn't stay long, anywhere from a whole month to a day depending on when they're released, but it feels like a futureproof way to classify new additions without telling new players that they have an equal role in the metagame as metagame staples.

Sorry I don't get this. Not all mons within a certain tier are staples of it. I wouldn't call Torkoal a OU staple, it just has enough usage for the tier.

Putting them under the regular OU mons + in a different section absolutely tells newer players that. There is even a phenomenon were mons that start with A are more common than others with similar roles likely because of presentation/reachability bias.Tiers are for determining different levels of usage based on competitive viability, and putting newcomers on a different section artificially affects the teambuilding process.

Also, a lot of the "established OU Pokemon" lose viability with the new additions, so that's another reason for them to not be highlighted over the newcomers.
Furthermore, this is another big issue with the proposal.

If one way or the other people are still "forced" to check in both OU and "New" for an optimal screening of their options, the clutter still exists, just that the order is biased according to the tier status before the new additions dropped.

I could see a "tag", as you mention, for new mons (like a (new) after their name), but I guess by that point is just informative and doesn't cover OPs objective of reducing clutter.
