Everyone's favorite thunder chicken comes in many flavors in AAA, such as Magic Guard + Life Orb or dual screens, but recent development has introduced the burned chicken, which can abuse the metagame's lack of Fairy-resistant physical walls. Pixilate Facade beats Tapu Koko's standard checks, such as Blissey and Assault Vest Swampert, while Volt Switch lets Tapu Koko pivot on Steel-types, which could otherwise tank its Facade. Roost ensures that Tapu Koko stays healthy, while Taunt prevents the recovery of slower Pokemon like Dauntless Shield Mew and the setup of sweepers like Genesect. Tapu Koko dislikes Steel-types such as Heatran and Volt Absorb Corviknight, so Fire-types like Cinderace and Talonflame make great partners that also form a solid pivot core with it. Tapu Koko enjoys entry hazard support from Kommo-o and Skarmory to chip down its switch-ins. These Pokemon also switch into the rare things that force Tapu Koko out, like Barraskewda. Wallbreakers like Belly Drum Kommo-o and Tinted Lens Genesect appreciate the free switch Tapu Koko gives them with Volt Switch.
