Tapu Koko @ Flame Orb
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Facade
- Volt Switch
- Roost
- Taunt

Everyone's favorite thunder chicken comes in many flavors in AAA, such as Magic Guard + Life Orb or dual screens, but recent development has introduced the burned chicken, which can abuse the metagame's lack of Fairy-resistant physical walls. Pixilate Facade beats Tapu Koko's standard checks, such as Blissey and Assault Vest Swampert, while Volt Switch lets Tapu Koko pivot on Steel-types, which could otherwise tank its Facade. Roost ensures that Tapu Koko stays healthy, while Taunt prevents the recovery of slower Pokemon like Dauntless Shield Mew and the setup of sweepers like Genesect. Tapu Koko dislikes Steel-types such as Heatran and Volt Absorb Corviknight, so Fire-types like Cinderace and Talonflame make great partners that also form a solid pivot core with it. Tapu Koko enjoys entry hazard support from Kommo-o and Skarmory to chip down its switch-ins. These Pokemon also switch into the rare things that force Tapu Koko out, like Barraskewda. Wallbreakers like Belly Drum Kommo-o and Tinted Lens Genesect appreciate the free switch Tapu Koko gives them with Volt Switch.

Everyone's favorite thunder chicken comes in many flavors in AAA, such as Magic Guard + Life Orb or Dual Screens setter, but recent development has introduced burned chicken into the meta. I would like to add something about how the meta generally lacks Physical Fairy swithins outside of Corv, who is never switching in, and Heatran, who is still Volt Switch bait, but am unsure how to word it. Pixilate Facade hits extremely hard after a Burn, threatening defensive staples like Assault Vest Swampert and Blissesy with 2HKOs beats Tapu Koko's normal checks, such as Bissey and Assault Vest Swampert, with Volt Switch providing great synergy by giving Tapu Koko a pivoting move to switch out on Steel-types, which could otherwise take a Facade. Roost ensures Tapu Koko stays healthy, while Taunt prevents recovery from slower Pokemon like Dauntless Shield Mew as well as setup from the likes of Genesect. It dislikes opposing Steel-types, especially Heatran and Volt Absorb Corviknight, so Fire-types like Cinderace and Talonflame make great partners, with the added benefit of forming a pivot core.. Both form a pivot core with Tapu Koko due to their U-turns. Tapu Koko also enjoys entry hazards support from the likes of Kommo-O and Skarmory to chip down its switch-ins. In return, they switch into the rare things that force Tapu Koko out, like Barraskewda. Setup sweepers or breakers? I feel like that's a more natural pairing like Belly Drum Kommo-O and Tinted Lens Genesect equally appreciate the free turns they get when Tapu Koko pivots on its switchins.
Minor edits, but nothing stopping QC approval. Looks good, good summary of what a new meta threat brings to the table. Nice job!
