[OVERVIEW]

Alolan Persian's great Speed stat, valuable Dark typing, and versatility through access to several coveted moves, including STAB-boosted Foul Play, Nasty Plot, Taunt, and U-Turn, are rare and valuable traits in LGPE OU. Taunt and its Speed stat vitally allow it to shut down the recovery of slower Pokemon like Mew, Zapdos, and Mega Charizard X, and can even effectively prevent Mew from using Stealth Rock in some scenarios. Unfortunately, Alolan Persian's effectiveness is limited by its other stats. Its poor offensive stats leave it struggling to deal much damage to Pokemon that don't fear Foul Play, limiting its ability to apply offensive pressure or revenge kill certain Pokemon reliably, while its pitiful bulk limits its longevity and ability to set up safely. As a result, Alolan Persian is usually relegated to specific team structures that desire its aforementioned upsides, most notably offensive teams where it can function as a utility-based pivot and revenge killer. On these teams, however, Alolan Persian can thrive and proves to be quite difficult to play around without sustaining noteworthy damage.

Set Information
========

Foul Play is Alolan Persian's best attacking move, capable of reliably 2HKOing Mew and Mega Charizard X after Stealth Rock and dealing respectable damage to prominent physical attackers like Melmetal, Rhydon, and Snorlax. Taunt allows Alolan Persian to prevent the use of status moves, notably including Stealth Rock and recovery options such as Mew and Zapdos's Roost. The latter is extremely important as it allows Alolan Persian to force significant damage on these Pokemon, something very few Pokemon are capable of. Toxic is useful for punishing Pokemon that can shrug off Alolan Persian's Foul Play, such as Mega Gyarados, Zapdos, and Poliwrath. Dark Pulse provides solid damage against Mew after a burn and can potentially flinch opposing Pokemon, making it an acceptable alternative to Toxic. U-Turn allows Alolan Persian to cover the opponent's switches when switching out and wear down its checks and counters while maintaining momentum. A Jolly nature is preferred in order to let Alolan Persian better handle Pokemon such as Alolan Dugtrio, Gengar, and the rare Mega Pinsir.

Usage Tips
========

Due to its frailty, Alolan Persian should be brought into battle safely via pivoting moves or on predicted non-damaging moves like Stealth Rock or Roost. As one of Alolan Persian's main goals is to use Taunt to deny the use of Stealth Rock from anything other than Aerodactyl, it can often be a good idea to lead with it— if the opponent doesn't lead with their Stealth Rock user, Alolan Persian can either pressure them with Foul Play damage or be safely switched out with U-Turn. Alolan Persian appreciates being brought in against physical tanks like Melmetal and Rhydon via U-Turn, which both threaten it offensively but often can't afford to take a Foul Play without being left vulnerable to Alolan Persian's physical teammates. Alolan Persian can also be used as a revenge killer with Foul Play.

Team Options
========

Pokemon that excel at keeping up momentum are ideal partners for Alolan Persian, as they help provide it safer switch-in opportunities to put its utility to use and force switches. Mega Beedrill is a good example of such a teammate, as it benefits from Alolan Persian's ability to prevent the opponent from setting up Stealth Rock and lets Alolan Persian pressure some of its most common defensive responses, most notably Melmetal and Rhydon. Mew and Zapdos are pivots that have great longevity and can provide their own utility, such as setting Stealth Rock and Reflect respectively. Melmetal can help with handling Mega Aerodactyl, Mega Beedrill, and Mega Alakazam, which all threaten to revenge kill Alolan Persian with ease. Mega Alakazam appreciates Alolan Persian's ability to keep Pokemon like Mew and Zapdos within OHKO range, as well as its ability to pivot in on Alolan Muk's Crunch if necessary and accrue valuable chip damage with Foul Play or U-turn.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A Nasty Plot set may seem appealing thanks to Alolan Persian's good Speed and perfect coverage between Dark Pulse and Thunderbolt, but such a set still struggles with mediocre damage output after a boost due to Alolan Persian's poor Special Attack, its poor bulk to sustain a sweep, and vulnerability to the fast Mega Evolutions. Alolan Persian can use Hypnosis instead of Toxic in order to catch the opponent off guard and shut down a potentially vital Pokemon- however, the risk is generally not worth the less significant reward this set gains from landing it.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Pokemon**: Alolan Persian's poor bulk leaves it susceptible to revenge killing from faster attackers. Mega Beedrill and Mega Alakazam can OHKO Alolan Persian, while Mega Aerodactyl can deal upwards of 60% with Rock Slide.

**Healthy Pokemon**: While this may seem broad, Alolan Persian's lacking offenses and frailty mean that almost any viable Pokemon not weak to Dark is capable of trading hits with it and coming out on top. As such, it must always be used carefully.

Only looked at the utility set because I've never used a nasty plot set before, and I didn't touch GP, but hopefully I had enough to add that the analysis could be improved.

Nasty Plot lets Alolan Persian significantly increase its damage output in order to successfully sweep or break down opposing walls. Dark Pulse is Alolan Persian's best STAB move and has a noteworthy chance to flinch Pokemon that could otherwise take a boosted hit, most notably Melmetal. Thunderbolt provides perfect coverage alongside Dark Pulse, making it Alolan Persian's go-to coverage option. Foul Play is Alolan Persian's strongest attack against most Pokemon prior to setting up, allowing Persian more opportunities to deal meaningful damage throughout a battle and bolstering the immediate threat it poses. Hypnosis is risky but useful for potentially giving Alolan Persian extra turns to set up against or attack Pokemon that can otherwise comfortably take it on, such as Alolan Muk and Snorlax. Hyper Beam is another risky option but is great for breaking unexpected holes in many of Alolan Persian's traditional answers, doing upwards of 50% to Alolan Muk, which can be exploited by Alolan Persian's specially offensive teammates. U-turn is another option that lets Alolan Persian wear down and pivot against its checks over the duration of a battle, helping to keep up momentum. A Timid nature lets Alolan Persian outspeed and handle the likes of Alolan Dugtrio, Gengar, and Mega Pinsir, making it preferred overall.

Usage Tips
========

Alolan Persian very rarely sweeps a team. As such, it is best used to break down bulky Pokemon for its more powerful teammates. Alolan Persian can survive most neutral attacks, affording it opportunities to set up with Nasty Plot or, if carried, use Hypnosis. It can also potentially force out Pokemon weak to its STAB, such as Mew and Gengar, in order to set up more safely. Alolan Persian's Speed grants it opportunities to act as a revenge killer, most commonly when carrying Foul Play. If carrying Hyper Beam against an opponent with fast setup sweepers, try to avoid using it until Alolan Persian will faint after using it— this prevents the opponent from exploiting Hyper Beam's recharge turn.

Team Options
========

Alolan Persian fits best on teams with a focus on fast offense that are designed to overwhelm shared checks such as Alolan Muk, Melmetal, and Mega Gyarados. Mega Aerodactyl and Mega Alakazam are great options for such teams, greatly appreciating having some of their most powerful answers worn down or removed for a lategame sweep, providing reliable means of revenge killing due to their unmatched Speed stats, and checking or outright countering the dangerous Mega Beedrill. Starmie is almost as valuable as the aforementioned Mega Evolutions, being able to soft check a variety of Pokemon thanks to its decent defensive typing and Recover while also threatening much of the metagame with its high Speed, powerful STAB Hydro Pump, and colorful coverage. Nasty Plot Mew has fantastic synergy with Alolan Persian, as both are proficient at forcing in and wearing down each others' best answers such as Alolan Muk, Snorlax, and Mega Gyarados. Gengar shares and wears down many of Alolan Persian's answers while also heavily threatening others such as Clefable.

Foul Play is Alolan Persian's best unboostedUncertain how worthwhile it is to address that persian can technically hit harder with nasty plot, considering nasty plot isn't mentioned anywhere near the utility set attack, capable of reliably 2HKOing Mew and Mega Charizard X after Stealth Rock and dealing respectable damage to prominent physical attackers like Melmetal, Rhydon, and Snorlax. Taunt allows Alolan Persian to prevent the use of status moves, notably including Stealth Rock and instant recovery options. Toxic is used to punish Pokemon that can shrug off Alolan Persian's Foul Play, such as Mega Gyarados, ZapdosZap really doesn't like switching into FP, it takes 25 from rocks, 33 from FP, gets taunted, cant kill persian with tbolt, and then persian U-turns out and forces out the zap, which is now gonna be at like 15% after the next round of rocks, and Poliwrath. U-Turn allows Alolan Persian to preserve momentum against switches and wear down its checks and counters. A Jolly nature is preferred in order to let Alolan Persian better handle Pokemon such as Alolan Dugtrio, Gengar, and Mega Pinsir.

Usage Tips

Due to its frailty, Alolan Persian should be brought into battle safely via means such as U-Turn and Teleport, or after a teammate faints. As one of Alolan Persian's main goals is to use Taunt to deny the use of Stealth Rock from anything other than Aerodactyl, it can often be a good idea to lead with it— if the opponent doesn't lead with their Stealth Rock user, Alolan Persian can be safely switched out either directly or via U-Turn. Alolan Persian appreciates being brought in against physical tanks like Melmetal and Rhydon via U-Turnthis is arguably the case for Rhydon, in some situations, but this is almost never the case for Melmetal, who will simply just punch you in the face. Sometimes it would be optimal for persian to suicide for 34% on Melmetal, but other pokemon do that better and persian can do more stuff than that in a match , which both threaten it offensively but often can't afford to take a Foul Play without being left vulnerable to Alolan Persian's physical teammates. Alolan Persian can also be used as a revenge killer with Foul PlayProbably could use examples here, like Mew or starmie or gengar or dugtrio, with appropriate info about how they need to be weakened, or speed ties with starmie .

Alolan Persian's Utility set can use Hypnosis instead of Toxic in order to catch the opponent off guard and shut down a potentially vital Pokemon- however, the risk is generally not worth the less significant reward this set gains from landing it. Taunt can provide the Nasty Plot set with a means of disruption, but it doesn't work as well with the set's lack of momentum or immediate damage output courtesy of Foul Play.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Special Walls**: Alolan Muk and Chansey can hold Alolan Persian off for an entire battleSupport/utility persian bops both of these, you've seen first hand how much damage Muk takes in a single interaction, and Chansey is shut down very hard by taunt, yeah it can get off a Stoss but it's still taking 12 from rocks, 18 from foul play, gets taunted, and takes 30% from U turn, leaving it below half and unable to recover or use status on the pokemon persian pivots into. So it should def be specified that these pokemon are more specialized against NP persian with their Dark resistance and instant recovery respectively, while Snorlax can easily threaten it with a 2HKO via Facade. However, Alolan Muk doesn't appreciate Hypnosis and can't deal too much damage back, Snorlax must be wary of Foul Play, and Chansey gets worn down by repeated U-Turns into physical attackers it cannot heal against.

**Faster Pokemon**: Alolan Persian's poor bulk leaves it susceptible to revenge killing from faster attackers. Mega Beedrill and Mega Alakazam can OHKO Alolan Persian, while Aerodactyl can deal upwards of 60% with Rock Slide.

**Healthy Pokemon**: Alolan Persian's lacking offenses mean that most Pokemon can survive at least a single boosted attack if their health is preserved, allowing them to retaliate with attacks that Alolan Persian's poor bulk probably cannot withstand. I love this section, too true

Foul Play is Alolan Persian's best unboostedmost importantno need to specify unboosted for this set attack, capable of reliably 2HKOing Mew and Mega Charizard X after Stealth Rock and dealing respectable damage to prominent physical attackers like Melmetal, Rhydon, and Snorlax. Taunt allows Alolan Persian to prevent the use of status moves, notably including Stealth Rock and instant recovery options, allowing it beat Zapdos on the switch.you can reword that but the zapdos interaction is super important and should be mentioned alongside taunt. Toxic is used to punish Pokemon that can shrug off Alolan Persian's Foul Play, such as Mega Gyarados, Zapdos, and Poliwrath. U-Turn allows Alolan Persian to preserve momentum against switches and wear down its checks and counters.you might find this obvious and inherant to U-turn but keeping your opponent from doubling or making aggressive plays might be noteworthy, as persian is an unusually fast user of turn and gets to click it vs the majority of the meta when you would normally switch out A Jolly nature is preferred in order to let Alolan Persian better handle Pokemon such as Alolan Dugtrio, Gengar, and Mega Pinsir.

In place of this you could cover like, things persian does vs other types of leads? like im always clicking fp on mega aero it takes like 55% and cant kill me Alolan Persian appreciates being brought in against physical tanks like Melmetal and Rhydondunno about this when ur not impish for rhydon, and even if ur impish you still die to dib a lot of the time, and while I would trade my persian for 55% on mel I would not trade it for 26%. via U-Turn, which both threaten it offensively but often can't afford to take a Foul Play without being left vulnerable to Alolan Persian's physical teammates. Try to find something better I try you lol. Zap probably hates flinches considering its clean 2hko on you idk Thunderbolt provides perfect coverage alongside Dark Pulse, making it Alolan Persian's go-to coverage option.list wrath and gyara, the 2 most relevant dark resists that are hit SE Foul Play is Alolan Persian's strongest attack against most Pokemon prior to setting up, allowing Persian more opportunities to deal meaningful damage throughout a battle and bolstering the immediate threat it poses. A Timid nature lets Alolan Persian outspeed and handle the likes of Alolan Dugtrio, Gengar, and Mega Pinsir, making it preferred overall.optionally slash modest? support has no attacking moves so jolly is a no brainer, and timid works as first slash here because outspeeding duggy is quite important, but outside that matchup persian can *really* use the damage buff. Give it some thought. Like imo I would use modest on teams with muk, because its less important to rk gar. Just seems 2nd slashable.

Foul Play is Alolan Persian's best attacking move, doing 30% or more to the vast majority of pokémon in the tier, or st like that; stab foul play is possibly the most spammable attacking move in the meta and is why persian gets away with not having coverage or usable attacking stats, capable of reliably 2HKOing Mew and Mega Charizard X after Stealth Rock mew def has to be mentioned, foul play does eg 56-66% to timid 31atk ivs mew tho, so i think 2hko after rocks is confusing/underselling it. id maybe just remove zard x mention, not super relevant and the damage isnt far from the 30-40% range that fp hits 'most things' for. also in the rare case that zard x is timid 0atk it doesnt always 2hko after rocks anyway. and then u could just say foul play 2hkos / does more than 50% to mew [so taunt to deny its recovery is often not necessary], idt the 'after rocks' is super relevant esp since this mu may occur turn 1. u can use ur judgment about this. and dealing respectable damage to prominent physical attackers like Melmetal, Rhydon, and Snorlax these mons take pretty much the same damage as most other things, not sure why they are mentioned specifically. if anything should be specified it is dug-a, which takes 73-87%. Taunt allows Alolan Persian to prevent the use of status moves, notably including Stealth Rock and recovery options such as Mew and Zapdos's Roost i like how coll worded this, '...recovery options, allowing persian to beat zapdos on the switch.' preventing mew's recovery is only relevant if it burns you, and it might be in burned fp range then anyway (fp + burned fp sometimes kos timid31atkiv mews after rocks). the recovery denial that should be specified is zapdos. The latter is extremely important as it allows Alolan Persian to force significant damage on these Pokemon, something very few Pokemon are capable of. Toxic is used to punish Pokemon that can shrug off Alolan Persian's Foul Play, such as Mega Gyarados, Zapdos, and Poliwrath. U-Turn allows Alolan Persian to cover the opponent's switches when switching out and wear down its checks and counters. Due to its frailty, Alolan Persian should be brought into battle safely via pivoting moves or on predicted non-damaging moves like Stealth Rock or Roost im not sure when thatd actually be relevant @ non damaging, maybe just say via pivoting moves or after a ko. nbd tho. As one of Alolan Persian's main goals is to use Taunt to deny the use of Stealth Rock from anything other than Aerodactyl, it can often be a good idea to lead with it— if the opponent doesn't lead with their Stealth Rock user, Alolan Persian can either pressure them with Foul Play damage or be safely switched out with U-Turn. i dont rly like this description, for example against lead mew i would basically always click foul play, because mew does >50% with u-turn and there is little to no reason mew should be clicking any other move, it can come back and set rocks later. even if mew did click stealth rock, foul play is still good, as now mew is forced out and opp has to switch into foul play which isnt easy to do even without rocks up. against say lead nidoqueen which is presumably rocks if its a lead, i prob click taunt most of the time, as persian survives eq and then does 31-40% depending on nature with fp, queen doesnt rly want to take that much damage when it hasnt set rocks yet even tho persian dies in the process. however clicking foul play vs queen isnt bad either.
also, idk what leads i am clicking u-turn against (ig m-gyara might be used as a lead), eg u turning against lead melm is possible, zap comes in more safely vs melm with no rocks up, but just taking the ~30% damage may be better. and as coll said the aero matchup is fine (base or mega), fp 2hkos aero (either form).
everything here is 'optional', use ur judgment

Alolan Persian appreciates being brought in against physical tanks like Melmetal and Rhydon via U-Turn, which both threaten it offensively but often can't afford to take a Foul Play without being left vulnerable to Alolan Persian's physical teammates. agree with what coll said here, and ofc rhydon's megahorn ohkos as well as dib, also u will always have something that is much better at damaging rhydon lol. if theres something it wants to be brought in against it is dugtrio (that doesnt have a sub up). Alolan Persian can also be used as a revenge killer with Foul Play. if anything expand this instead, persian's speed and consistent damage against almost the entire meta w foul play makes it extremely hard to switch into if u can force something out. coll gave dug-a, and weakened gar and mew as good examples of mons that can be forced out by foul play.

i think the u-turn weakness needs to be mentioned somewhere. it is very significant to the mew interaction, and in general st u always have to be aware of.

Alolan Persian can survive most neutral attacks, affording it opportunities to set up with Nasty Plot or, if carried, use Hypnosis. idk, most teams have at least two u-turn users (mew and zap), so it rly cant setup vs either against a team with st faster than it, and even if persian outspeeds whole opposing team setting up on a u-turn is pretty bad. it is ohkoed by melm, and by two of the three fast megas (and obv cant setup on maero either). thats 4/6 of 'many' teams. and then theres dtail users, megahorn users. use ur judgment but maybe reword this. It can also potentially force out Pokemon weak to its STAB, such as Mew and Gengar, in order to set up more safely. setting up on mew sounds bad unless its weakened, bc mew is likely clicking u-turn anyway. Alolan Persian's Speed grants it opportunities to act as a revenge killer, most commonly when carrying Foul Play.

Team Options
========

Alolan Persian fits best on teams with a focus on fast offense that are designed to overwhelm shared checks such as Alolan Muk, Melmetal, and Mega Gyarados. Mega Alakazam and Mega Aerodactyl are great options for such teams, greatly appreciating having some of their most powerful answers worn down or removed for a lategame sweep, providing reliable means of revenge killing due to their unmatched Speed stats, and checking or outright countering the dangerous Mega Beedrill respectively. Gengar shares and wears down many of Alolan Persian's answers while also heavily threatening others such as Clefable and Melmetal.
ive never actually seen the nasty plot set, kind of seems more like an oo to me. or, idk if like taunt/foul play/nasty plot/ dark pulse could be mentioned lol, the main set only rly needs taunt + fp mostly so this could give it some flexibility. taunt feels more important than tbolt since nasty plot is less likely to be useful than just taunt + fp. or, i guess u could use nasty plot 'instead of' taunt, eg on a potential zapdos roost turn as +2 dpulse does >50%. these allow u to still mostly fill fp persian's standard roles, while having the opportunity to surprise with np if u have a good opportunity to do so. (these are all optional comments)

Other Options

Alolan Persian's Utility set can use Hypnosis instead of Toxic in order to catch the opponent off guard and shut down a potentially vital Pokemon- however, the risk is generally not worth the less significant reward this set gains from landing it. Taunt can provide the Nasty Plot set with a means of disruption, but it doesn't work as well with the set's lack of momentum or immediate damage output courtesy of Foul Play.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Special Walls**: Alolan Muk and Chansey can hold Alolan Persian off for an entire battle with their Dark resistance and instant recovery respectively, while Snorlax can easily threaten it with a 2HKO via Facade. However, Alolan Muk doesn't appreciate Hypnosis and can't deal too much damage back, Snorlax must be wary of Foul Play, and Chansey gets worn down by repeated U-Turns into physical attackers it cannot heal against. as coll said this is specific to the np set

counters for the fp set: #1 is clefable, bad mon in ou but its def the best check there is
~ poliwrath does v well but doesnt want to be taunted on the switch, as then (mew, zap) can come in freely
~ mega gyarados is an excellent check but doesnt rly want to switch in except on taunt as it doesnt want to take extra damage or get worn down (also if it isnt mega evolved yet cant switch into fp at all)
~ mega venusaur recovers more with mega drain than persian can do with fp, however if u can taunt it then eg melmetal can switch in without fearing leech seed (or sleep powder). (venu should prob be listed as a check for the np set as well, mega drain 2hkos and recovers most of the damage +2 dpulse does, tho venu can be vulnerable to flinch).

**Healthy Pokemon**: Alolan Persian's lacking offenses mean that most Pokemon can survive at least a single boosted attack if their health is preserved, allowing them to retaliate with attacks that Alolan Persian's poor bulk probably cannot withstand.

was rereading and i just have one additional comment,
~ toxic is really very bad, i think it should be slashed on the utility set. dark pulse is the main move id like to see slashed alongside it, it does similar damage to fplay to many targets but with the flinch chance, for example if zapdos switches into foul play and then gets taunted, dpulse will easily put it under 25%, but with the flinch chance to avoid taking tbolt or u-turn damage. and it does somewhat more damage to starmie and slightly more to gengar compared to fplay. lastly it also allows persian to still function to an extent if it gets burned, allowing u to eg not worry much about scouting mew for wisp (foul play into dark pulse kos mew if it stays in, sequence is clearly worth the burn). presumably just run a timid nature, u turn is so weak anyway.

[id also kind of like to see zam listed in team options due to persian being an offensive muk switchin, but nbd]

[OVERVIEW]

Alolan Persian's great Speed stat, valuable Dark typing, and versatility through access to several coveted moves—including STAB-boosted Foul Play, Nasty Plot, Taunt, and U-Turn U-turn—are rare and valuable traits in LGPE OU. Taunt and its Speed stat vitally allow it to shut down the recovery of slower Pokemon like Mew, Zapdos, and Mega Charizard X, and it can even effectively prevent Mew from using Stealth Rock in some scenarios. Unfortunately, Alolan Persian's effectiveness is limited by its other stats. Its poor offensive stats leave it struggling to deal much damage to Pokemon that don't fear Foul Play, limiting its ability to apply offensive pressure or revenge kill certain Pokemon like (give an example or two) reliably, while its pitiful bulk limits its longevity and ability to set up safely. (bc np relegated to OO and low bulk covered there) As a result, Alolan Persian is usually relegated to specific team structures that desire its aforementioned upsides, most notably offensive teams, (AC) where it can function as a utility-based pivot and revenge killer. On these teams, however, Alolan Persian can thrive and proves to be quite difficult to play around without sustaining noteworthy damage. (removed line break under)

Set Information
========

Foul Play is Alolan Persian's best attacking move, capable of reliably 2HKOing Mew and Mega Charizard X after Stealth Rock and dealing respectable damage to prominent physical attackers like Melmetal, Rhydon, and Snorlax. Taunt allows Alolan Persian to prevent the use of block status moves, notably including Stealth Rock—except from the faster Aerodactyl—and recovery options such as Mew's and Zapdos's Roost. The latter Blocking Recover is extremely important, (AC) as it allows Alolan Persian to force significant damage on these Pokemon, something very few Pokemon are capable of. Toxic is useful for punishing Pokemon that can shrug off Alolan Persian's Foul Play, such as Mega Gyarados, Zapdos, and Poliwrath. Dark Pulse provides solid damage against Mew after a burn in case Alolan Persian gets burned (I imagine this makes sense? if you should expect to get burned, you should clarify that in the text imo) and can potentially flinch opposing Pokemon, making it an acceptable alternative to Toxic. U-Turn U-turn allows Alolan Persian to cover the opponent's switches when switching out and wear down its checks and counters while maintaining momentum. (imo "cover the opponent's switches" handles this adequately) A Jolly nature is preferred in order to let Alolan Persian to better handle Pokemon such as Alolan Dugtrio, Gengar, and the rare Mega Pinsir.

Usage Tips
========

Due to its frailty, Alolan Persian should be brought into battle safely via pivoting moves or on predicted non-damaging moves like Stealth Rock or and Roost. As one of Alolan Persian's main goals is to use Taunt to deny the use of Stealth Rock from anything other than Aerodactyl, it can often be a good idea to lead with it—if (removed space after semicolon) the opponent doesn't lead with their Stealth Rock user, Alolan Persian can either pressure them with Foul Play damage or be safely switched Play or safely switch out with U-Turn. U-turn. Alolan Persian appreciates being brought U-turn from teammates bringing it in against physical tanks like Melmetal and Rhydon via U-Turn, which both threaten it offensively but often can't afford to take a Foul Play without being left vulnerable to Alolan Persian's physical teammates. the physical teammates they're tasked with stopping. (I assume?) Alolan Persian can also be used as a revenge killer with Foul Play.

Team Options
========

Pokemon that excel at keeping up momentum are ideal partners for Alolan Persian, as they help provide it safer switch-in opportunities to put its utility to use and force switches help provide Alolan Persian momentum and safe switch-ins are ideal partners, as they maximize its utility given its low bulk. Mega Beedrill is a good example of such a teammate, as it benefits from Alolan Persian's ability to prevent the opponent from setting up Alolan Persian shutting down Stealth Rock and lets Alolan Persian pressure some of its most common defensive responses, most notably Melmetal and Rhydon, with safe entry from U-turn. (I assume?) Mew and Zapdos are pivots that have great longevity and can provide their own utility, such as setting Stealth Rock and Reflect, (AC) respectively. Melmetal can help with handling Mega Aerodactyl, Mega Beedrill, and Mega Alakazam, which all threaten to revenge kill Alolan Persian with ease. Mega Alakazam appreciates Alolan Persian's ability to keep Pokemon like Mew and Zapdos within OHKO range, as well as its ability to pivot in on Alolan Muk's Crunch if necessary and accrue valuable chip damage on it (I assume?) with Foul Play or U-turn.

Other Options
=============

A Nasty Plot set may seem appealing thanks to Alolan Persian's good Speed and perfect coverage between Dark Pulse and Thunderbolt, but such a set still struggles with mediocre damage output after a boost due to Alolan Persian's poor Special Attack, its Attack. Further, it has poor bulk to sustain a sweep (RC) and vulnerability to the fast Mega Evolutions. That set runs Hypnosis to help it set up, but standard (I imagine based on "less significant"? if not, please clarify) Alolan Persian can use Hypnosis instead of Toxic in order to catch the opponent off guard and shut down a potentially vital Pokemon: (dash -> colon) however, the risk is generally not worth the less significant reward this set gains from landing it.

Checks and Counters
===================

As such, it must always be used carefully; if it stays in, it's pigeonholed into targeting Pokemon that rely on status moves or take problematic damage from Foul Play. (I imagine this clarification makes sense? feel free to tinker/change/clarify as needed)
