Whether to uturn or eq the heatran?
So this is my first ever sample team post!
I am here with 2 teams,
The first team's core led me to top 20 in the ladder(better than that but i only have the ss for the top 20), I have been using this core for an year now, and this is a pretty new edited team, dealing with it's respective counters.
The second team is a core from half an year ago, dunno if someone has done this core earlier but its completely my idea, with slight help.

Beware of the long explanations!
First team: Peace Quick!

I WANT MY WIN (Dracovish) @ Custap Berry
Ability: Strong Jaw
EVs: 252 Atk / 36 SpD / 220 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fishious Rend
- Endure
- Outrage
- Rock Tomb

Gracenyaa (Sylveon) (F) @ Custap Berry
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 144 Def / 160 SpA / 204 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Beam
- Fake Tears
- Hyper Voice / Mystical Fire
- Endure

Chairman (Kartana) @ Choice Band
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 76 Atk / 180 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Knock Off
- Sacred Sword
- Smart Strike
(You can always replace a move with giga impact, as XSC implied)

For instance, this seems like its just one of those cores of double custap, BUT, this core is actually really fun FDS core to use.
Alert! This description is entirely based on my experiences so if you can, please correct me if i am wrong somewhere
Sylveon is the only special attacker in this team, and its actually a good mon in a FDS core, talking of what it does, it deals with most dragons, most choiced and frail mons, :darmanitan-galar: :Haxorus: (Mold breaker) :Kartana: :Pheromosa: :Regieleki: :Regidrago: with it's custap+endure strats,
Fake tears helps it deal with bulkier mons :Naganadel:(without specs) :volcanion: (without sludge wave) :Landorus:(without protect) :Togekiss: :Zeraora:(without quick attack), mons who use calm mind :Primarina: :Espeon: :Reuniclus: :Suicune: :Clefable: :Spectrier: & :Tapu fini: (You need good predicts against taunt) :Cresselia:, or amnesia/eerie impulse users :tapu koko: :Rotom-wash: :Corsola-Galar:, :Azumarill: & :Gastrodon: (stall out amnesia for your comfort), walls like :pyukumuku: :swampert: :Jellicent: :porygon2:, it also deals with :Ninetales-Alola: :Gardevoir: :Aromatisse: since it isnt choice locked and miscellaneous mons like :Crustle:(by the use of hyper voice)(you will have to predict whether it is band or not)
Hyper beam is your burst damage to end any opposing mon instantly.
Hyper Voice can be used to deal with Substitute users :keldeo: :whimsicott: :volcarona: :zapdos-galar: :spectrier: and simply as a good general stab while Mystical Fire can be used instead to deal with :kartana:(Hyper beam KOes most sets) :ferrothorn:(which causes trouble) :Magnezone: :escavalier:(sometimes) :aegislash:
I have given it some speed to outspeed a lot of mons who carry no speed/little speed like :Sylveon:(mirror) :primarina:, :Magnezone:(some sets), :Aegislash: :Volcanion:(some sets) :Clefable: :Blastoise: :Incineroar: :Celesteela: :Tyranitar: :etc.
144 Def is for survive band :rillaboom:'s grassy glide(you still need to predict whether it is going to click wood hammer(where you endure) and whether it is going grassy glide):
Calc
252+ Atk Choice Band Rillaboom Grassy Glide vs. 0 HP / 144 Def Sylveon in Grassy Terrain: 279-328 (84.2 - 99%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery
160+ SpA Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Rillaboom: 357-421 (104.6 - 123.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
This sylveon instaloses to:
Unnerve :Haxorus: with Poison Jab
:Registeel:
:Regice:(Seems less likely but still)
:Metagross:
Sylveon can also carry the EVs from the HCTC sample called Ferrofairy and Lando, but it is really only made to suit that team(it wins against pjab unnerve Haxorus, but iron tail still kills it so thats uhh idk, its still a good spread though)
Dracovish is the Dragon of our team and the other one with big damage, it can also control speed with its access to rock tomb, its other move, outrage can be used to deal with other dragons, even though it only clicks it on :kyurem: :dragapult:, :Dragalge: & :Volcanion:(You can instead carry earthquake for them, since this team has a tendency to lose to specs volcanion but i will always suggest outrage)
I have made it have 220 Speed EVs to reach 241, thus outspeeding an entire speed tier, a lot of mons who carry no speed, some mirror sets, and outspeed 110 Base speed mons after a rock tomb!, :Sylveon: :Gengar: :Magnezone: :Incineroar: :Moltres-Galar: :Zapdos-Galar: :Ninetales-Alola:(No freeze dry) :Gardevoir: :Salazzle: :Metagross: etc.
36 SpD is for Modest Max SpA Volcanion's Sludge Wave, we get 3HKO'd so we can now win against it(Calc are mentioned below)
252+ Atk Dracovish Rock Tomb vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Volcanion: 96-114 (26.3 - 31.3%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252+ Atk Dracovish Outrage vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Volcanion: 144-169 (39.5 - 46.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ SpA Volcanion Sludge Wave vs. 0 HP / 34 SpD Dracovish: 132-156 (41.1 - 48.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO (Its 36 SpD EVs rn since I forgot about the 2 I accidentally put in HP)
This Dracovish deals well against:
Every Defensively Frail mon, or slow mons who lack in defense or cant take Fishious rend
:Alakazam: :Gengar: :Sylveon: :Heatran: :Arcanine: :Entei: :Celesteela: :Aromatisse: (Click rock tomb after Fishious rend to not get disabled and encored) :Aggron:(Just use rock tomb before Fishious rend to not get a metal burst) :Magnezone: :Aegislash:(predict king's shield correctly) etc.
It can also deal against certain mons with endure and custap:
:Haxorus:(Mold Breaker) :Naganadel: :Regieleki: :Pheromosa: :Crustle:(you need to use rock tomb for lowering its speed in a custap mirror situation) etc.
It deals with rock tomb into Fishious rend against mons who carry protect against custap:
:Landorus: :Tapu Koko:(if its iron defense, hope you crit) :Spectrier: :Moltres-galar:(It can use protect too)
This dracovish Instaloses to:
Unnerve :Haxorus:
:Tapu Fini:
:Azumarill:
:Primarina:
:Rillaboom:
:Gastrodon:(Storm Drain)
Kartana is the steel type for completing the core
It wins against all those mons which both the other 2 lose against, mainly fairies :Sylveon: :Tapu Fini: :Azumarill:(Choice band), :gastrodon:, :ferrothorn:, :registeel:(since iron defense is ignored by sacred sword, and it survives body press) and unnerve :haxorus:(calcs are below)
252+ Atk Haxorus Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 180 Def Kartana: 216-256 (83.3 - 98.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
76 Atk Choice Band Kartana Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Haxorus: 201-237 (68.6 - 80.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
(Reminder it loses defense in superpower or cc and even with lowest rolls kartana can KO with the second koff)
This team collectively loses 3-0 to:
Specs :Volcanion:

Again this all is based on personal experience on ladder and a few smogon matches

The second team is
Is that a PMD reference???
https://pokepast.es/87318d2a87a15616
:ss/Urshifu: :ss/Kyurem: :ss/Salazzle:
Dark Matter (Urshifu) @ Chople Berry
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 228 HP / 28 Atk / 248 Def / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wicked Blow
- Close Combat
- Sucker Punch
- Bulk Up

Bittercold (Kyurem) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor / Ice Beam
- Freeze-Dry
- Focus Blast
- Earth Power

Quicksand Cave (Salazzle) (F) @ Passho Berry
Ability: Corrosion
EVs: 92 HP / 216 Def / 200 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Encore
- Disable
- Protect
- Sludge Bomb

This is a straightforward team, a simple(dont believe me) team which depends on immediate power and luring
Urshifu-Single Strike is a good mon against physical mons, it wins against every pokemon who uses iron defense and such moves :Registeel: :Ferrothorn: :Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: :Tapu Koko:(without dazzling gleam) :Cresselia:, it is the team's best answer to scarf :Haxorus: and :Darmanitan-Galar:, it does really well against opposing mirrors too, especially if they arent this specific set(that is what the 4 speed EVs are for)
Biggest weaknesses are:
Most Fairy Types (Helped by Salazzle)
Most Flying Types (Helped by Kyurem)
Kyurem is here for dealing with flying types and fast special attackers etc. :Tapu Koko: :Dragapult: :Landorus: etc.
Ice beam is used as a main move, dealing with every dragon :Dragapult: :Garchomp: :Haxorus: etc. Flying, Grass, Ground type :Rillaboom: :Landorus: :Landorus-Therian: :Celebi: :Archeops: :Diggersby: :Nidoking: :Whimsicott: :Moltres-Galar: :Tapu Bulu: :Togekiss: :Venusaur: :Zapdos:(both forms) :Zarude: etc.
Draco meteor's only niche is against opposing kyurem and the other moves just cover for it anyway so i would suggest ice beam since it's the best neutral move against :Spectrier: :Clefable: :Corviknight: :Celesteela: :Aromatisse: :Tapu Lele: etc.
Freeze-Dry is for water types which give Salazzle big issues :Swampert: :Blastoise: :Gastrodon: :Primarina: (non custap) :Rotom-Wash: :Toxapex: :Dracovish:(without Outrage) etc.while being the primary move if you are not carrying ice beam.
Earth Power is for coverage against fire types and more like :Heatran:(non air balloon) :Marowak-Alola: :Entei: :Nihilego: :Aegislash: :Magnezone: and as a safer option on :Registeel: and other steels(would still use focus blast for its high base power)
Focus Blast is for a better matchup against mirrors, steels and mons like :Porygon2: :Blissey: :Type-Null:
This Kyurem loses to:
Every Sturdy/Custap user who can cast a KO(:Aggron:, :Crustle:, :Magnezone:(custap) (Dealt by Urshifu-SS)
Most fairy types(:Primarina:(with custap), :Sylveon:, :Azumarill:) (Dealt by Salazzle)
Special walls like Blissey etc.(Dealt by both teammates)
The next part is infact, the one lure to this core's weaknesses(:Azumarill: and :Tapu Fini:)
It carries 200+ Spe to outspeed 110 base speed mons and mons like :Ninetales-Alola: :Gardevoir: :Aromatisse:, fellow users of Encore and Disable
Protect-Disable-Encore or Protect-Encore-Disable is a good way to stop a banded mon on it's track
Here we have the example/calc of Azumarill!
252+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Azumarill Aqua Jet vs. 92 HP / 216 Def Passho Berry Salazzle: 135-159 (45 - 53%) -- 25% chance to 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Azumarill Struggle vs. 92 HP / 216 Def Salazzle: 112-132 (37.3 - 44%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 SpA Salazzle Sludge Bomb vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Azumarill: 254-302 (62.8 - 74.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

You can also carry Flamethrower but considering this team, we would just carry sludge bomb!
This Salazzle loses to:
Scarf :Haxorus:(Dealt by Urshifu)
Other Waters, Ground etc. Which are dealt by the help of kyurem
This team only loses to Scarf :Tapu Lele: however, there may actually be more

Edit: Thanks to XSC, I have implemented some changes on Sylveon!, And Kartana Survives Superpower from Grassy Seed Rillaboom and 2HKO's it with Either Smart Strike or Sacred Sword(That is a roll tho).

eleki fast hits hard
scarf darm fast hits hard
Heatran is flame charge for crustle reliability. It also helps vs some sub spam mons where rock tomb wouldn't (mostly venu since no taunt).

Should be fairly solid, I built this team a while ago but it still holds up. Some things that 3-0 can be cteamed and baited by sacrificing moveslots for all you ladder players. I will expand on this if required

Also,

https://pokepast.es/f9bd488e50d57f13
Some of you may recognise this team from me spamming it in the earlier part of the year but it is still very solid to this day. av zera counters most special attackers as well as taking care of celesteela and togekiss. Bulu serves a similar role that zera does to special attackers, except it beats the majority of physical attackers, including mons such as aggron and scarf darmanitan galar. Scarf volcanion serves the purpose of beating steel, fairies, grounds, and grasses. Overall a very solid team that is intuitive to use and overlaps many matchups while still beating everything it needs to.

Stall arcanine does fire things well also being good into things like rhyperior and azu. Rhyperior helps beat things that arcanine loses to such as electric types, scarf cress, and aromatisse. Finally koko helps beat things like water faries dragons and stall that threaten the other 2.

Rotom-Heat @ Choice Scarf

Rotom-heat is a pretty good mon and ended up fitting pretty well here as it beats grass types, spectrier and heatran. Rhyperior is bulked for modest specs nagandel and aggron, runs brick break for reflect pz, avalanche can be run for a better sludge wave lando t mu but rock blast helps with not having to set guess entei. The team is rounded out by mixed defence bulu which beats things like pult, urshifu, and waters.

nido is pretty cool but loses to av zera lol weak ass

anyways this team is nice, weak against bandorus and setguesses zera but hey at least it doesnt lose to koko and gross and arcanine!!!! oh yeah and struggles with scarf/custap lele (please dont use custap lele it is genuinely horrendous like seed and scarf just do 10x more)

shoutout smely and luser for listening to stuff and anyone else lmk if u have any questions/concerns abt the team and i will try to improve it

ALSO make pult ada if u wanna beat bandorus and lose to fast spect ALSO DROP UTURN on pult for fire move if u wanna beat kart

Another team I want to submit which is similar to the one I submitted on top is this team
https://pokepast.es/19f739d3ef3d15f4

I have seen this team a lot and the fire water grass core is a very solid core.
Entei handles the steels, Togekiss and some poison types that Fini and Venusaur might struggle with.
Tapu Fini is the trick scarf variant which beats Chansey and other stall mons while at the same time handling some of the fires that the others struggle against.
Venusaur is the custap variant as it give us a great match up vs choiced lock mons and vs water types which may hard wall or beat the rest of the team. Venusaur is also great as it is a grass type that beats other grass types barring the grass steel types such as Ferrothorn and Kartana which are handled well by Entei.

The reason why want to submit this team is because similar to the team I submitted earlier is it is simple. And even than that, it is more versatile that the first one. Entei's, Tapu Fini's, and Venusaur's sets could change depending on the match up you want to have since they have the capability of handling of most of the meta depending on the sets. Entei could viably run the AV or the Stall set, Tapu Fini could run the sitrus berry set, weakness policy set, and more, and Venusaur could run either the leech seed stall set or the custap which it is using right now. This gives the player some leeway in experimenting sets and building.

The sets I chose for this sample is firstly to handle the metagame well and secondly since it shows us multiple tactics that can be used in 1v1. We have the bulky offensive mon in Entei, the custap user in Venusaur, and the trick scarf user in Tapu Fini. This could introduce new players to these types of mons and see how they interact with others.

The team is not perfect similar to every other team. This team will need you to learn how to set guess a few mons including Cresselia, Volcanion and Porygon Z however each member will be able to win vs some set. In the case of Cresselia, the stall cresselia could be defeated by Tapu Fini while Entei is capable of beating the trick set.

:garchomp: idk what evs do, all I know is that it beats spectrier by Scale shot t1, if wisp sd eq, if not eq, probably the comp set. I should edit in the ani magnezone evs ig.
:sylveon: does fairy things and beats all waters maybee we go mental herb here but I think custap is fine cause its a good cushion vs darmg
:volcanion: scarf for darmg beats the fairies sylveon, fini, primarina and beats steelas

It's pretty late, I'm sorry for no explanations, they should come in 8hours

Description of the team : Kyurem allow you to beat some dragon types (like Dragapult and Naganadel, some sets of Porygon-Z, and generally Water-Types that are not fairies. It also beat scarf Togekiss. Entei beats the Steel that Bulu and Kyurem struggles with (Magnezone and Celesteela typically) and gives you a better matchup vs Maranga Kiss. Tapu Bulu is here to beat stall users like Consola-G, Registeel and beat big physical attackers like Urshifus and Haxorus that can beat both Kyurem and Entei. You will need to setguess some sets, but in my opinion it will not be that common.

I know that the team struggles with some sets of PZ, Cresselia and Corviknight but after giving this team to newcomers and hearing only good responses I've decided to post it anyways.

Drugs, Dragons, and Driving
:ss/regieleki::ss/regidrago::ss/corviknight:
Methamphetamine (Regieleki) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Transistor
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Thunder Cage
- Electro Ball
- Hyper Beam
- Thunder
This is your standard choice specs regieleki. Fast power, and a solid answer to togekiss, darmanitan-galar, and porygon-z. Thunder Cage is the main move to break through custap against pokemon like primarina, volcanion, and moltres-galar.
Shenlong (Regidrago) @ Custap Berry
Ability: Dragon's Maw
EVs: 252 Def / 148 SpA / 12 SpD / 96 Spe
Modest Nature
- Dragon Energy
- Draco Meteor
- Endure
- Scale Shot
EVd to tank choice specs magnezone hyper beam, outspeed modest magnezone, and optimize the urshifu matchup. Regidrago is your answer to zeraora and magnezone as well as a slew of other pokemon. You can also run a bit more speed to outspeed landorus-incarnate, garchomp, or nihilego (after a scale shot).
Limousine (Corviknight) @ Maranga Berry
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 240 HP / 20 Def / 40 SpD / 208 Spe
Impish Nature
- Taunt
- Iron Defense
- Iron Head
- Roost
EVd to tank 2 landorus-therian earthquakes after an Iron Defense, and to outspeed adamant tyranitar (and other base 61s), with the rest dumped in special defense. Corviknight serves as a check to certain fairies and steels such as tapu lele, sylveon, ferrothorn, and some metagross.
The main weakness of this team is Landorus-Therian due to smack down. It can be handled, but between its life orb and assault vest sets, it can be difficult to pick the right mon for the job. Landorus-Incarnate can also be problematic in a similar fashion to its therian form. Urshifu can also pose problems for the team between assault vest and choice band, but regidrago generally has a favorable matchup against both, and corviknight can stall out assault vest urshifus.

Gay Pride (:
:urshifu-rapid-strike: :goodra: :tapu-bulu:

I centered this team around the pokemon I believe add great queer representation to the game. While I wasn't sure if this team would initially work out it has done exceedingly well on ladder piloted by both me and Bopher .

Urshifu RS:
The start point of this team was around the gay urshifu forme as I wanted this to be both a thematic team and usable. Life Orb shifu rs has just a generally insane matchup spread even ohkoing most offensive mons, with a great multi hit stab to get through sturdies as well. This forme also benefits on preview from being indistinguishable from the more used urshifu often bluffing how strong you are into certain pokemon.

Goodra:
AV Goodra seemed like the natural place to go from shifu rs while keeping with the theme. Shifu rs with bulk up is an offensive mon with surprisingly great physical bulk, therefore, I wanted Goodra's decent offences with insane Spdef. Goodra is often times a fairy counter with AV and poison coverage- beating the vast majority which adds great synergy to this team. Earthquake is also on this set over fire blast in order to hit mirror coat magnezone, although both are valid options.

Tapu Bulu:
What better mon to tie this team together than the fairy type with a septum piercing. Taunt and leech seed help you dismantle a bunch of stall pokemon easily, while still doing the standard tapu bulu thing of living every single physical hit and disabling it if you are very weak to it. The bulu goodra core has existed for a while and I believe this team to be a pretty good iteration of it.

Overall the message of this team is to just be you no matter what, while having a bit of fun.

Dark Side of the Moon
:cresselia: :incineroar: :primarina:

So during the time period of making this team, I was helping Xstatic Cold during his run in ladder tour. If you know him, he loves bringing mons that people don't really use or would think are bad. I love Incineroar's typing, beats grasses and the heavy ghost favored meta is huge imo.

:Cresselia:
This is what represents the moon. Cresselia is the real soul of this team, with skill swap easily taking down mons like azumarill, zeraora, and aromatisse. Cress also has the ability to be able to finesse the mu against sylveon if needed. Cresselia is that mon that will do the dirty work and clean up the soft 3-0s

:Incineroar:
This is the mon the team is mainly based around, obviously you need this amazing typing as without it, you can lose to the likes of disable pult and spectrier. Swords Dance rillaboom is another scary mu for this team that Incin takes care of quite easily. Incin will also be able to take down a very big used mon like magnezone, sometimes magnezone will run metal sound, so cresselia would normally lose to it. Incineroar is a great pokemon that imo covers huge chunks for the duo of cress and prim.

:Primarina:
I have nothing more to say than regidrago, fairy typing, unexpected set, and fini, energy ball blasts mons like gastrodon with a soft 3-0 out of the water. simply moonblasting will take care of your tapu fini problem with mblast hitting like a truck.

I just wanted to show some love for my dawg incin (xsc would very much vouch)

Hello there, i don't post that much but i wanted to share two teams:

Somehow a classic team that i use, by checking the viability ranking, pretty much offensive. https://pokepast.es/0d373720b612098f

Just be careful when you use Darmanitan, since it's Zen mode, if you don't tank or use Endure.... it's pretty much over.

And there's one that i love to use (With Espeon ! Magic bounce/trick is a good combo to counter some mons in my opinion soooo....) but it's more for a fun use than a serious grind. https://pokepast.es/28e0a0df28028326

Have a great day 1v1 players !

speed evs to outspeed max speed celesteela, rest in hp and special defense.
orbeetle is pretty cool https://emojipedia.org/pleading-face/, it can take volcanion overheat (depending on the set), modest hetran magma storm and non specs modest rotom-heat overheat (i guess) and retaliate with mirror coat.
thats the case with a lot of special attackers like specs regieleki, nidoking, specs dragapult, non specs regidrago, modest non specs pz, specs and non specs magnezone, landorus-i and the list goes on.
frisk helps you navigate certain matchups.
ideally you're able to set up enough iron defenses to handle some of the physical attackers that orbeetle can take on like garchomp, non-trick metagross, av zeraora (sometimes even life orb depending on the knock off roll), rillaboom, landorus-t (iffy), avalugg (only band which is not as common as other sets but ok).
unfortunately orbeetle has rough match ups against some of the most common pokemon in the tier, mainly urshifu (both), fake tears sylveon, togekiss (as you're likely to get flinched or tricked, otherwise you can actually retaliate with mirror coat), most volcanion sets and tapu fini; not to mention taunt users.
all in all this is not a bad pokemon at all and there are definitely more sets that can be experimented with like calm mind stored power or even some swarm sets instead of frisk.

urshifu.gif

evs in defense to live non band fisheous rend from dracovish and cb cc from urshifu.
to me urshifu is easily the best pokemon in the tier and my favorite to use.
this set in particular helps orbeetle deal with some of its more tough match ups like crustle and every other type of shell smash users, urshifu itself (some chople sets are still iffy so you could make a case for running counter over bulk up), stall corviknight and zapdos, non counter avalugg among others.
there isn't much that hasn't been said about urshifu, again running counter over bulk up is reasonable and there is room to consider poison jab as well.

volcanion.gif

i think the evs in spdef are for non specs magnezone thunderbolt but this team already has a pretty good matchup against mag anyway lole, whatever tho they can always come thru for other mus like sylveon which can get tricky with yawn in play and whatnot.
this is my favorite endure custap set to run on volcanion.
volc pick mainly helps against fairies, volcarona, whimsicott without that poison damage reducing berry and endure is just cool like you get to survive and then you go first and its just cool >_<

and you could say that yea this team gets 3-0d by offensive zapdos, galarian moltres and whatever but i do not care i am using orbeetle while i listen to yeat rich minion grrrr.

Slowbro is the standard set-up varaint, with its typing and access to set up moves like Iron Defense and Calm Mind and access to Oblivious, Slowbro is a great physically defensive wall that can set up against Non-Trick Metagross, Urshifu-R, Garchomp, Corviknight. Non-Trick Tapu Fini, Crustle, Unnerve Haxorus, Glastrier, Avalugg, and Galarian Darmanitan to name a few. The idea is simple: Boost, Heal, and try to KO your opponent with Stored Power. One thing to note if you are in Boosting Mirror and you are at a point that you know that Stored Power would 2HKO, you should go for Stored Power as opposed to boosting to max to avoid getting crit. A similar logic applies when fighting foes with STAB attacks like Zeraora.

Regice absurd 200 Sp.Def allows it to take even things like Choice Specs Magnezone Flash Cannons and Heatran Overheats and boost up, allowing to Regice essentially to PP Stall these Pokemon very effectively. It serves as a defensive glue to this team, being able to handle Pokemon like Trick Tapu Fini, Sylveon, Togekiss, Goodra, Zapdos, Porygon-Z, Galarian Moltres, Magnezone, Regieleki, all of which could demolish the team otherwise. Charge Beam allows you to beat Trick Tapu Fini, since the Sp. Atk increases will alllow you to beat Fini even if they use rest.

Kommo-o provides a solid Dark and Rock Resist, as well as Electric, Grass, and Fire allowing it take on the remaining Pokemon like Urshifu-S, Tyranitar, Rillaboom, Tapu Bulu, Kartana, and Entei, all of which provide massive issues for Slowbro and Regice. Kommo-o provides great role compression between Iron Defense giving a Defensive Attack, and having Clanging Scales being a STAB attack that bypasses Substitiute and isn't affected by burn . It also OHKOes Dragapult through Sub, which is useful for SubCurse.

Trick Cresselia is the literally the worst nightmare for this team. Like seriously, nothing on my team can beat Trick Cresselia. Trick users in general are a nuisance for this team. Oh yeah, and there is Tapu Lele as well. Man, seeing all the obnoxious Trick users makes me wish Z-Crystals and Mega Stones were in this game.

I am back with a vengeance with this really good team!
This team has already put me into the top 30 with ease and is very reliable
Aromatise: it is able to force opponent into struggle and kill them, helmet is preferred to eaier beat other attackers in general, and have better synergy
Sawk: Sturdy survive hits well and is able to beat steel types which arom loss to
Entei: Stall set to suprisingly beat pokemon like custap berry magnezone reliably, and help to fullfill gaps of my team
7B0D58FE-503C-432E-9460-955D7ED3EDAE.png
The team is able to cover a lot of teams, and basically have no complete counters
hope you love it!

Guys i think i cracked gen 8 and made one of the best teams that will ever be seen on this thread. If you would like to climb ladder quickly or win in major tournament games this is the best one to do it with.
here it is
As you can tell, the psychological pressure and energy this team exudes is absurd. If you loaded up a ladder game and saw your opponent was in the 1700s that alone can make you overthink and play poorly. But if your opponent is 1762 and their team consists of 3 porygons, some players will overthink and panic so hard that they will induce a stroke on themselves and automatically lose. The preview pressure is great because it gets your opponent to think that your team is better than it actually is and because of this, people will think that the PZ is either scarf or custap or helmet so you basically get four items on it (borderline broken!). PZ lives hits with chople and a whole bunch of defense and can agility and plot, leaving your adversaries befuddled. Agility lets you outspeed koko and more and a modest hyper beam with 0 evs still hits like a train that has one less car on it than usual.
On preview people will think that PZ is the biggest threat (you can even give it a good set if you want to!) but in actuality it is Porygon2. Porygon2 is probably the best pokemon in the entire 1v1 right now, simply by being awesome and funny and a duck, and this recover+ 3 attacks set is very good for this team and download boosted attacks are very good for haxorus, avalugg, and magnezone. It even CALC JUMPSCARE +1 60 SpA Porygon2 Hyper Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Haxorus: 357-421 (121.8 - 143.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO has two moves to hit dragapult with, and people will frequently pick those guys into this team because they already forgot that there are 3 pokemon on it.
Now put yourself in the shoes of a person playing against this team again for a moment. There is a special attacker, a slow and bulky defensive mon that isn't immediately dangerous without the download boost, and a joke first evolution to finish out the theme team. "A fairy type would be good here" you think to yourself as you click your sylveon/azumarill/primarina/aromatisse expecting a swift and decisive victory on your part. However since this is at least the fourth or fifth best team in all of SWSH, it does not simply crumble to "the best type in the game" (real ones know it will always be normal).
+1 252+ Atk Choice Band Porygon Giga Impact vs. 248 HP / 12 Def Azumarill: 436-514 (108.1 - 127.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252+ Atk Choice Band Porygon Giga Impact vs. 252 HP / 148 Def Sylveon: 429-505 (108.8 - 128.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252+ Atk Choice Band Porygon Giga Impact vs. 248 HP / 148 Def Primarina: 393-463 (108.2 - 127.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252+ Atk Choice Band Porygon Giga Impact vs. 252 HP / 52 Def Goodra: 460-543 (119.7 - 141.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252+ Atk Choice Band Porygon Giga Impact vs. 216 HP / 136 Def Aromatisse: 406-478 (102.2 - 120.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
yeah baby 1 porygillion damage (yeah porygon is the only one with actual calcs, I tend to forget what EVs do about 24 hours after I make a team)
In conclusion this team is capable of winning games and making your opponent fail to click a 3-0 because of how menacing it is and if they click what they think is a 3-0 they will surely get giga impacted or shadow balled or plotted on. High skill floor and higher skill ceiling, using this team will irrefutably make you a better player and win more games and get your pokemon points on https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/. I expect half the teams on ladder to be this one within a few hours of this being posted. There is nowhere to go but up with these three.

(also porygon2 is unironically VERY good, it deserves to be ranked higher than C+)

turns out porygon2 is pretty good. As it is the focal point of this team i will make sure to give an in-depth explanation.
bulky enough to survive +2 rock wrecker from crustle, most choice band and specs hits as well as most close combats and superpowers.
Unfortunately this ev spread can't consistently beat regidrago as dragon energy into draco meteor is a guaranteed knock out, you could make a case for running more special defense or a calm nature because of this but i personally prefer being able to tank physical hits.
i decided to go with analytic over download for consistency as most of the time you'd get +1 in physical attack rather than special and porygon2 is slow enough to benefit from the analytic boost most of the time, the prime example of this would be against togekiss; download is of course very viable as well especially against bulkier pokemon like steelix. Trace probably has a niche as well but i would never recommend it over analytic or download.
As far as the moveset is concerned hyper beam is a strong finisher and able to one hit ko many offensive pokemon like haxorus, kartana, darmanitan galar, porygon-z, rillaboom and many others thanks to the analytic boost. It is especially useful in combination with ice beam as a lot of the time you'll find yourself in situations where clicking ice beam a couple times into hyper beam will guarantee kos while preventing your opponent from knocking you out with mirror coat. This is the case against pokemon like swampert, avalugg and magnezone without metal sound. Ice beam is very useful both for the reasons i've already mentioned but also because of the freeze chance, it might seem silly to bring up however many match-ups tend to go on for longer than 10 turns and freezing your opponent becomes a win condition sometimes. In terms of recovery I've decided to go with the option of having both recover and rest: rest allows you to win pp stalls when the opponent's pokemon doesn't have taunt (toxapex, eldegoss (lol), zapdos, whimsicott, rotom-heat) as well as making sure you can reliably beat toxic entei. Other moves that could replace rest are eerie impulse and shadow ball, shadow ball is nice against trick cresselia as it allows for both a drop and critical hit chance, can be useful against disable dragapult, tapu lele, aegislash and both trick and weakness policy metagross as this set is set to have a speed of 156 allowing you to always hit weakness policy metagross second. Eerie impulse could come in handy in a couple of match-ups like goodra, regidrago, substitute regieleki, aegislash and togekiss (if you're certain it's not trick); it doesn't however help against sylveon as fake tears has more pp (a faster spread with eerie impulse can help against encore primarina). Another option could be discharge to help you cheese the corviknight match-up, it can also be useful for primarina, carracosta and blastoise; i don't see it actually working against fini (in this case i would run download over analytic since you're trying to paralyze your opponent). One last option i wouldn't mind considering is giga impact with a quiet nature, however it doesn't do as much damage as you would think, while maybe viable the ev spread would have to be reworked from scratch.
Porygon2's toughest match-ups are certainly trick users like cresselia and tapu fini, corviknight (you have to rely on ice beam freeze lol), non-band zeraora as plasma fist turns your hyper beam into an electric type move and the combination of close combat and knock off does significant damage, sawk, ferrothorn and sylveon.
Considering the state of the tier I feel like i have to mention how this porygon2 fares against togekiss, most scarf sets will trick turn one and take up to 63% from ice beam; after trick, air slash is dealing about 30% since porygon2 doesn't have its eviolite anymore, meaning that, if togekiss isn't carrying roost, the next ice beam will knock it out. If the togekiss in question has roost then the match-up becomes more luck dependant as your opponent will likely either try to pp stall roost (very unlikely that you won't get a critical hit or a freeze) or try to sneak in air slash flinches here and there while roosting. Against scarf togekiss i definitely think porygon2 has the upper hand even though it's not a clear counter. Against maranga sets the match-up becomes a bit more complicated, ice beam will do about 27-30% (depends on the spread) while togekiss will do at most 20% with each air slash. It really can go either way, rest is certainly useful to get rid of paralysis as well as healing up to full while also stalling air slash pp. If you decide to run eerie impulse you can go for it turn one to have better odds (critical hit is still in play). Even against maranga i feel like porygon2 has a slight advantage.

1665237218041.png

I prefer running a more physically bulky variant of goodra able to tank choice band wicked blow from urshifu and non band icicle spear from avalugg, speed to outspeed base 85s with no investment.
I personally think sap sipper and gooey are both equally mediocre, only reason why i would go sap sipper over gooey is for the rare kebia berry whimsicott and choice banded wood hammer from rillaboom (lol) as well as its substitute set, it also prevents leech seed from celesteela. Gooey can however be nice to consistently beat urshifu and other physical attackers.
Acid spray into sludge wave/draco meteor is usally what you want to go for, acid spray lets you avoid being knocked out by mirror coat from avalugg as well as breaking its sturdy, it's also instrumental against calm mind users like tapu fini and primarina.
What i couldn't decide on was what the last move slot was going to be: as is, this set is completely walled by heatran, but i couldn't afford to run earthquake which would otherwise mean the entire team is walled by ferrothorn. At the same time counter would be an insanely viable tool as it would greatly help against metagross and zeraora as well as heavy slam celesteela. I decided to go with flamethrower, while it might not necessarily help against corviknight and celesteela, it keeps ferrothorn and weakness policy aegislash in check.
Lastly the combination of acid spray and sludge wave is usually enough to deal with togekiss but as always luck is in play. Firstly against scarf, even if you get tricked, I would always opt for acid spray turn one, as consistently dropping their special defense means that at -4 acid spray is already doing more than half while air slash from togekiss is only doing up to 17% (not to mention that after being tricked goodra is faster). If they decide to not trick you their scarf for better odds, acid spray into sludge wave should always pick up a ko against 252/252. Against scarf togekiss i feel like goodra should almost always be able to win unless you get really unlucky with air slash flinches, obviously. Against maranga, at -1 (acid spray into maranga), sludge wave will do about 50%, meaning the opposing togekiss will often have to roost if they don't get the flinch (not to mention air slash does at most 15%). Statistically I would say going for acid spray twice gives you better odds but I wouldn't be surprised if clicking sludge wave after one acid spray, forcing togekiss to roost, and then going for another acid spray is better. All in all, again, while not being a clear counter like nihilego would be, goodra should be able to handle togekiss most of the time.

1665239318985.png

I don't like this pokemon's design, there weren't even any cool gifs for it.
Defense invested to live choice band wicked blow from urshifu, speed to outspeed uninvested urshifu.
Rillaboom helps fill a couple holes as well as being an amazing pokemon in the tier.
Most notably, rillaboom helps against sylveon, zeraora, dracovish, sawk, a slower heatran, cresselia and urshifu (both); all pokemon that this team would otherwise struggle against.
I couldn't decide between superpower and high horse power but i went with the latter, it doesn't make a huge difference as superpower wouldn't help against chople ferrothorn anyway while high horse power can help against aegislash. Swords dance could be another option but having grass as your only stab move on this team isn't ideal, not to mention that fake out is very important in combination with grassy glide and i wouldn't swap it for anything else.

In conclusion, this team isn't necessarily perfect as it definitely struggles against some steel types like celesteela, heatran and most importantly corviknight (depending on the porygon2 set but it doesn't make a huge difference), however it was a lot of fun and it ended up winning most games consistently as i was able to go from 1500s to the top of the ladder.

Moonlight Maestro

This team features AV regidrago, Modified Custap Magnezone, and a modified version of Trick Scarf Cresselia.

Custap Magnezone is there to beat the waters and fairies such as Sylveon, Tapu Fini, Togekiss, Primarina, etc. Regidrago is sort of the catch most of the things that magnezone can't cover such as other dragons, the waters which defeat Magnezone such as Swampert or stuff like Urshifu. Trick Scarf Cress is modified to live 2 wood hammers from 88+ Attack Bulu which is the one present in the compendium and outspeeds Tapu Koko with max speed to Trick the Scarf. Also beats Haxorus as intended.

Explaining the / moves
Cresselia
Psychic or Psyshock are both stab moves which work on Cress.
Moonlight is preferred however Rest can be slotted in for the guarantee to beat Toxic Chansey.
Magnezone
Thunder and EV spread is there mostly for Chansey (live 2 seismic tosses) and to outspeed Fast Aggron and Fast Azumarill. Thunder is a Guaranteed 2HKO on Chansey after 2 metal sounds praying that it will hit lol.

Mons that seem like the team might struggle with
Ferrothorn
252 Atk Ferrothorn Gyro Ball (111 BP) vs. 0 HP / 216+ Def Cresselia: 94-112 (24.6 - 29.3%) -- 100% chance to 4HKO
Kartana
4+ SpA Dragon's Maw Regidrago Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Kartana: 275-324 (106.1 - 125%) -- guaranteed OHKO

If you are not paranoid of that pink blob that ruins everyone's dreams, then here is the more friendly version

https://pokepast.es/85d30621b17f9676

Psychic and Psyshock are still great choices while Thunderbolt can still be subbed by Thunder because of power.

Shoutout to Blanched, and Team Asia for the concept and testing.

fake tom numbers

formerly Tom1535
everyone has submitted bad teams for this cycle (except for stravench's team but ignore that) so I'll help by giving a bad team as well

:landorus: :aromatisse: :relicanth:

kinda fun team I built a while ago but modified, won a few tournament games, a more advanced team that works well if you know the matchups.

:relicanth: Built around the fish, deals with a lot of physical threats like metagross, darmg, zeraora, etc. Liquidation is used since Earthquake isn't needed, and helps it beat both lando forms. Head Smash is for flying types like togekiss and rolls many different mons. Yawn+Protect makes the opponent go to sleep, so you can fish (no pun intended) for sleep turns to win. Evs are for band haxorus and underspeeding aegislash.

:aromatisse: Second mon that glues the team together, beats almost all stall, with the evs beating specs fini. Also beats dragons like pult, regidrago and the shifus as well. Just a nice click vs half the meta. If you're not sure how to use it here's the doc (it doesn't work but shhhhhh)

:landorus: The final mon to round the team out, forms a core with tisse and beats everything else that the team struggles with. Smack down is for flying types like celesteela and corviknight, sludge wave is for fairies like sylveon and rilla. evs are to bulk specs sylveon and lo rillaboom, while killing av rilla.

Problem:
Aromatisse is hard to use for randoms
Solution:
add a more advanced section for teams (OU did this and probably a few other tiers)

EDIT: changed lando evs because they were wrong

:ss/ferrothorn::ss/crustle::ss/moltres-galar:
This team uses a core that I made way back during CLC in Ferrothorn + Moltres-Galar. The idea is to beat Regidrago with Ferrothorn, and Urshifu with Moltres, removing the need to use a fairy type.
I chose custap ferro to beat drago. power whip helps it beat iron defense tapu fini, leech seed secures the mu against custap drago and specs zone, swords dance for band garchomp and no charm chansey, and flash cannon surprises avalugg. ferro is bulked for jolly band haxorus close combat, while maximizing hp. The rest of the evs are dumped into attack. 0 speed ivs and relaxed nature maximize the power of gyro ball.
Band crustle is the less used crustle set, but it is the one of the only sturdies with a solid mu into zera. This mon also helps the team beat mfire sylveon, dracozolt, togekiss, and most pz. It's running max attack for rolls against zapdos, goodra, and other random mons. It has spd for 2 timid scarf togekis air slashes, while maximizing defense. Brave nature and 29 speed ivs underspeed aegislash. Heavy Slam beats fairies like sylveon and togekiss more reliably, and counter beats many choiced physical attackers like band garchomp and kartana.
Helmet moltg is the teams main anti-stall. It bulks 2 gyro balls from 252 atk ferrothorn, while maximizing hp to tank 2 volcanion steam eruptions. It has just enough spa to nearly always ko chansey, and the rest of the evs are dumped in speed for corviknight and magnezone. Against chansey always taunt, nasty plot once, and spam fiery wrath (or hurricane if they are extra spd)
