Format Discussion Past Gens Random Battle Sets

Wouldn't mind expanding the move pools in gen 3 random battles. Would be cute if swampert could get muddy water, or adding in monsters like ivysaur and shelgon. Vigorith (already in the format) is a good addition in my opinion.

    OU ADV OU Metagame Discussion

I would be flattered if a test un-ban was done because of my post, thanks for reading my posts. With all of the changes to baton pass and sand veil, I thought maybe a more liberal approach could be taken to the ban list. Of course, everyone has a different idea of what pokemon formats should...

That's not a bad way of looking at it, I hadn't thought of that. Although I feel like tyranitar and gengar also have great movepools.

Mew would probablize utilize Tbolt/Beam/Calm Mind/Softboiled. I imagine it to be on a power level similar to Jirachi and Celebi. It's access to every Tm/Hm is overrated because so many Tm's are irrelevant anyways.

I still think Mew can be unbanned.

Mr. Mime ban looks bad, shouldn't they have just banned it from having baton pass?

I feel many veterans don't realize that many moves and pokemon are good within a context, and that meta games fluctuate from time to time. This also changes the way the game is played, and what was a "correct" move in the past is not always "correct" today. I still feel the best way to be...

I feel that I beat baton pass strategies more often than I lose. It's still a really good strategy and sometimes it steamrolls you but you have to take the good with the bad. In lower classes like UU and NU I have more of a problem with it but those formats don't see as much play

To clarify my feelings on the matter, I feel obligated to run a leftovers on every non-rock/steel/ground type just to offset sandstorm. Many of tyranitars counters also resist sandstorm, so teams trying to counter tyranitar end up playing tyranitar too. Plus its high usage percentage is alarming...

I wouldn't mind trying a temporary ban on tyranitar.

Are you saying you're not the same starless nights that plays on ladder every now and then?

I wanted to drop in to say that I'm really loving swampert, and I'm not as big on claydol/starmie anymore. Or any rapid spinner really. To be fair, I still really want rapid spin support on a team, but the stats/types/movepools of the spinners leave a little to be desired. I bring this up...

Resource ADV OU Teambuilding/Strategy: Archetypes and Cores -- A Data-Driven Approach

For me, the lead pokemon isn't really important. What's important is that the lead pokemon has synergy with pokemon in reserve, so it can switch out almost for free. A lead zapdos is usually facing rockslide or ice beam from opposing lead tyranitars, and thus metagross is an acceptable switch...

this is what i think, any time i do an elo run of 1600+ it's always with the same 7 or 8 monsters. You can slip in 1 or 2 lower ranked monsters and get away with it if they compliment your team, matchup well with a problematic pokemon, or provide some sort of support in the form of roar or wish...

i have to get some salt off my chest, the trash talking is out of control on pokemon showdown. usually its new players who are frustrated by something, but i'm even getting spam from vets who don't like losing to low tier monsters or hax. it's really soured me.

i feel blissey is a top 2 pokemon and low-key warps the metagame around it. it invalidates most special attackers and forces teams into using multiple high-attack pokemon. perhaps we are using metagross/tyranitar not so much because they are individually good, but because the presence of blissey...

Breloom has been great for me recently well to elaborate, offensive teams with a magneton have been great for me. and they often times run a breloom. snorlax is great as it's a special sponge that can still hit back hard. add a tyranitar with pursuit to deal with will-o-wisp gengar and you're...
