  1. Lower Tiers RBY OU/UU Cutoff Discussion Thread

That way you are still using usage stats, and in a way, just avoiding to use the name “percentages”. Say you notice articuno got played a few times, 3/4, in an important tournament. Sure, you might not base your decision around an actual percentage, but you are still using that information to...
  2. Lower Tiers RBY OU/UU Cutoff Discussion Thread

Ladder usage cutoffs in a mostly dead ladder tier (RBY OU) lose their significance. The amount of players simply isn’t enough to justify using them. You could also have a bunch of people unironically sabotaging the tier by spamming ladder games and getting some mons over the supposed OU cutoff...

And yet I see people using the term wrong on the second-to-half page of this topic...
  4. Post your searing hot takes

Most people are too illiterate to understand how to use the word "literally". In fact, most of the time they use it with the exact opposite meaning. That is, "metaphorically". This is self-evident in most online communities.
  5. Announcement np: SS OU Suspect Process, Round 5 - Switching Gears

It's not silent if they are sharing their thoughts here. There might be a silent minority of people who don't want magearna banned though. And that's fine, try to qualify for the suspect or, even better, try to make people change their mind and vote for a no ban.
  6. Announcement np: SS OU Suspect Process, Round 4 - Fish Out of Water

Removing leftovers from ferrothorn makes 2hko with stealth rocks on ferro's side significantly easier 252+ Atk Choice Band Strong Jaw Dracovish Fishious Rend (170 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn: 158-186 (44.8 - 52.8%) -- 28.9% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery 252+...
  7. Announcement np: SS OU Suspect Process, Round 4 - Fish Out of Water

It's completely dumbfounding to me how people still suggest that banning dracovish will make breaking stall too hard to deal with. To those I have to ask: Do you actually play the tier? I have not seen one viable stall since the dawn of the metagame. I actually tried building one pre-home and it...
  8. Announcement np: SS OU Suspect Process, Round 3 - Iron Man

Seismitoad and Rotom-W are not threatenig enough for melmetal and don't have a reliably source of recovery (they can, at best, PP stall DIB). Rotom-W has, admittedly, the good plus of having VSwitch for mantaining momentum. Corvi takes 60%+ from tpunch and is forced to roost, it doesn't even win...
  9. Announcement np: SS OU Suspect Process, Round 3 - Iron Man

It’s insane to me how anyone would ever say this is a stall-centered metagame. Stall is basically dead since the start of the gen, and we might not even see it come back with chansey’s readdiction during Summer. We currently have a plethora of slightly different BALANCE teams that abuse the few...
  10. Announcement np: SS OU Suspect Process, Round 3 - Iron Man

How can taunt/bulk up/roost/body press be considered a good set when you have to leave substitute out making you extremely vulnerable to status conditions? Not only that, but your supposed "counter" has to roost every time it switches in and gets a tpunch in return, not recovering to the...
  11. Announcement np: SS OU Suspect Process, Round 3 - Iron Man

Yes you are oversimplifying because Magearna didn't have the sheer amount of raw power that Melmetal has. He mostly dealt with threats because of a variety of moveslots in her kit, and Z moves were a one-time itemless tradeoff. It's not like Melmetal has that many move options, but they all hit...
  12. Announcement np: SS OU Suspect Process, Round 3 - Iron Man

You are right about wishport clefable, my bad on that one. I still disagree with the notion that it will not warp everything around itself. I don't think it has that many good checks either. or checks that would be good in the hypothetical new meta.
  13. Announcement np: SS OU Suspect Process, Round 3 - Iron Man

You fail to acknowledge the fact that wishport clefable can sustain melmetal and thanks to its fantastic bulk it's even harder to punish a switch-in to heal it up. Not only that, but your whole argument is allowing a broken pokemon to decentralize the meta (I also dislike the current one, so I...
  14. SS Random Battle Suspect Process - Dynamax

I will probably find some time to ladder just because, being a quite casual random battle player, dynamax has proved to be the worst mechainic ever implemented into this game so far (and with Z moves it's really saying something). The fact that this is the first suspect in the history of random...
  15. Announcement np: SS OU Suspect Process, Round 2 - The Three of Us

I decided to abstain from commenting but since the anti ban side was forced into having only bad arguments, I'd love to leave my 2 cents for posterity. The topic is blacklisted and because of that I won't be allowed to talk about it, but there has been extensive discussion in the On The Radar...

  17. Unpopular opinions

I mean this is a problem but unless you are running Blissey, Snorlax and so on it's hardly a hard one to handle. I wouldn't decide the value of the game based on this minor detail. Anyway, it has been done to death but I reiterate what everyone knows, nostalgia glasses are the source of...
  18. SPL XI - Commencement Thread

In theory your argument is sound but I couldn't find early instances of hax from kratosmana. Actually forcing rest on skarmo and snorlax was more like things going in your favor to begin with. Letting Zapdos die and losing the best answer to Skarmory wasn't a wise decision nevertheless. That...
