Back with platinum I was very familiar with where the best spots to EV train pokes were, I had pokemon with the Pokevirus still active in my storage to infect new pokes. Using the pokevirus and EV training items you would get from the Battle Frontier it would reduce the kills required from 200+ by A lot. When the pokemon was too low of level I would have a high level poke of my own to power level it, even though you would switch them out they would still gain the EVs. In platinum it was nice because sometimes you would get swarms... for example of Zigzagoon which provided an easy way to chain Speed EV's.
I did everything Legit except for Cloning, which is pretty much crossing the line no matter how you look at it. I might get back into it, but for now the answer is no. I wish breeding was more balanced and less random :P
