OU DPP OU Metagame Discussion Thread

I will start trying to preserve replays in order to demonstrate my Jirachi point. I have had bulky lefties Mags get stalled out before by flinchrachi. With wish, bulk investment and lefties I have been ground down by paraflinch even using bulky magnezone. I do not consider Mag a great Jirachi...

OU DPP OU Metagame Discussion Thread

I think Jirachi introduces an overly present uncompetitive element to far too many games. The game is never over while Jirachi can Iron Head you. Jirachi's great bulk and immunity to sand can boost this X-factor immensely. You're trying to 2HKO it but it keeps Iron Heading you and now your 2HKO...

Bug Reports v3 [READ ORIGINAL POST before posting]

I've been experiencing a bug with Showdown where it seems to randomly change my Pokemon's moves into other moves. For example, I will check my Pokemon in teambuilder, then get into a battle to discover that my moveset is different from what I saw in teambuilder. It will give my Pokemon moves...

    Crabrawler, Crabominable Discussion

My first post in a few years is to say how much of a disappointment this Pokemon is. Ice/Fighting is an AMAZING offensive typing. Why cripple it with mediocre bulk and horrendous speed? It's just a bad Mamoswine, basically. A cool Pokemon, but competitively it will not go far outside of low tier...

    Inkay

So I really quickly built a TERRIBLE Trick Room team after realizing Inkay could set the move up himself, and I led with Inkay in my first match. I 6-0d him. To be fair, this was not the most talented opponent (I was on an alt that had a rating of 1300 some), but I think Inkay is definitely...

Fairy Type in XY Little Cup

About Snubbull: I've been loving him as my Fighting-type counter. He really does an excellent job of handling all of them except Croagunk; even then if you get in on anything other than a boosting move or Poison-attack you can counter him pretty solidly with Earthquake. However, Showdown is...

    Gen 4 Legendary storm

He still has to win fast to make sure his team isn't just worn down. A lot of his Pokemon are naturally bulky, but without investment they won't take hits too well. Vappy's Wish-passing certainly helps, as does Roost on Flygon. I'm taking the team out for a spin right now, so I'll post back with...

Gen 4 [OU RMT]When in Doubt, Spam Blizzard; An OU 4th Gen Hail Team

I'm starving, so here are some quick thoughts before I get food: First, change your Mamoswine set to 252 Atk/252 Spe/4 SpA, with a Naive nature. Brave Mamoswine will not be accomplishing much, being outsped by so many Pokemon that it would really like to outspeed, such as Heatran. You can also...

    Gen 4 Legendary storm

I notice your team doesn't have a lot of defensive backbone; was that intentional? Are you going for a Hyper Offensive team? I worry about your team's ability to take hits in general if that's not your goal.

    Engine Stall (full stall team)

Also, if you replace Gardevoir with Heatran, then keeping Spikes on Forry is quite alright. On teams that use both Skarmory and Forry, I recommend Sr on Forry so he has to take less hits to ease his lack of recovery.

    Engine Stall (full stall team)

SR should go on Forry. He doesn't have steady recovery, so I've never been a fan of leaving him in to set up hazards.

    Engine Stall (full stall team)

That's true. Although this team doesn't have too much trouble with Talonflame and Volcarona, Blaziken is a problem. He can't be burned. If I had to pick something to counter him it would be Azumarill, and I'm not super fond of using him on a stall team. He has no recovery and his bulk isn't...

    Engine Stall (full stall team)

Everyone's mentioned Tyranitar, but don't also forget how weak your team is to Mega Gengar. He can't come in as easily as Tyranitar, thanks to being weak to Ghost, but it's still not too hard for him to switch-in on a WoW, King's Shield or Leech Seed and get an instant kill. With your current...

    Hail: More Than Anti-Metagame Idealism

Yeah, Ape is probably the biggest threat to Hail, which is why I tend to run 2 solid checks and maybe a 3rd that can work in a pinch. I was never trying to say Hail didn't have a Fire-type weakness, but I wanted to make clear that adding another Pokemon with a Fire-type weakness (Like Scizor)...

    Hail: More Than Anti-Metagame Idealism

Everyone's acting like adding another Fire-weakness to the team is like kryptonite. What fire attacks do you actually need to take in OU? Heatran, Infernape and Ninetails are the only ones firing off STAB Fire attacks, and the rarer Chandelure and Darmanitan. Salamence and Dragonite also use...
