Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.

Name: Contradictability
Description: Two of this Pokemon's ability, stats, and movepool lend themselves naturally to two different roles which seem contradictory, but actually complement each other well and both contribute to the Pokemon's viability.
Justification: This is an...
I do personally believe that Pokemon should be tiered based on the best way to use them, not their entire-run viability, but that is a philosophical argument I won't make here. Tiering based on this probably puts Onix around D, and hurts Dragonair's endgame quite a bit to where I can see it in C...
On Onix (and Geodude partially), I feel that being so good for three gyms warrants B. Put simply, if SM Solgaleo/Lunala are B when they are present for a much smaller portion of the game, I think Onix should be B, assuming that you completely ditch it after Whitney.
On Dragonair, it seems we...
From past experience, as I'm not really playing HGSS anymore.
Typhlosion - Borderline A/S: It has Fire Blast accuracy issues until E4, but it only really needs to use it in major fights. Also has Clair/Lance issues but hardly anything doesn't.
Feraligatr - S: Surf doesn't really fall off until...
I've somehow only gotten the Sword fossils from the Digging Duo so IDK if they're rare, exclusive, or if I'm just really unlucky. I haven't seen it documented anywhere either, one way or another.
I caught everything outside of the Wild Area where possible, because Wild Area spawns can be fairly high-leveled and overpowered for that point in the game. One clear exception to this rule however.
My team (Pokemon Sword):
Inteleon: (Snipe Shot/Hydro Pump/Ice Beam/U-turn) It was good enough...
I think this table is correct (empirically, I've done some of the 10%'s and 1%'s and they seem about right). Slots are 1-4-5-10-10-20-50 (percent to get on a successful call).
I.E. Gengar, Politoed, and Slowking are awful, while Huntail and Gorebyss (and other things like Lush Jungle cave...
I just caught Gorebyss and Slowking from SOS battles, and I'll say based on empirical evidence their encounter rate is probably 1% (or at least like 5%). Haven't tried Huntail yet but it should probably be the same as Gorebyss. We can probably just put Huntail (no trade), Gorebyss (no trade)...
I meant like ranking Huntail (no trade), Gorebyss (no trade), Slowking (no trade), Politoed (no trade), and Gengar (no trade) separately since they're essentially SOS-only Pokemon (and we do rank Mareanie). Tbh for Slowking it's kinda debatable whether it's faster to SOS it or find a King's Rock...
(btw, Dhelmise got changed to 35% at bubbling spots; not sure that changes much)

Just finished the game so I'll post thoughts on the mons I used. I didn't use EXP Share but I did feed everyone a Rainbow Bean for boosted EXP and I grinded a bit at the end.
Popplio - A: I think...
Re: Salandit: It's probably most efficient (in Ultra Sun, in Ultra Moon probably just use the Totem) to catch an SOS Salazzle (unless you luck out on a female Salandit first try). From my experience, SOS Salazzles are just as common as female Salandits (assuming no Male Sylveon shenanigans)...
Just had a Kangaskhan (summoned by a Cubone) SOS summon a Cubone. iirc this wasn't supposed to be possible?* Or is it just a Kangaskhan thing? (Someone should test with Mareanie/Sableye/Happiny; I can't do this yet since I'm not far enough in the game to buy Adrenaline Orbs)
This has no...
Re: Grubbin: It might be more efficient to catch a Blush Mountain Charjabug at level 29-30. Its contributions before then are minor (basically just Lurantis/Togedemaru unless you overleveled for moves), and catching the level 30- Charjabug ensures it evolves in time to learn Bug Buzz, meaning...
