Hello and welcome to National Dex OU: Break this Core, the project in which I will present you with a popular core in the metagame each week and allow you to submit a mon or core of your own to break the presented one.

Every Sunday a popular offensive or defensive core will be posted by myself at around 8pm GMT.
Posting will last until Friday where you will have the chance to submit a Pokemon or core.

Rules
  • Submission Cycles will last from Sunday to Friday, and Voting Cycles will last from Friday to Sunday.
  • You may reserve a Pokemon, however you must state what set you are reserving as well. You will have 12 hours before your reservation becomes invalid and is free to be taken by someone else.
  • The same pokemon may used be submitted, however the second submission must be rather different from the first. For example, I might submit Rockium Z Garchomp, this means that Redgoop can submit Garchomp, but may not use the SD Rockium Z set and opt for something else such as the Tank set.
  • Submissions may only be of Pokemon that are in the current Viability Rankings (see here)
  • An explanation is required, it doesn't have to be too long. Calcs and Replays are not required, however better support your submission and argument.
  • Make sure the mons that you've submitted, have viable sets and spreads and can also be prevalent support for a team.
  • Please be respectful of others during submission and voting.

As soon as I saw that this core is composed of a 4x ice weak mon thats fairly slow paired with a water type thats fairly slow as well with a secondary type that doesnt resist ice, a mon immediately came to my mind

Kyurem @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Freeze-Dry
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast
- Earth Power

:SS/Serperior:
Serperior @ Leftovers
Level: 100
Timid Nature
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 56 HP / 200 SpA / 252 Spe
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power Fire
- Substitute
- Glare

This is just a simple, "standard" serperior set, the goal is simple, spam Leaf Storm and the defensive core dies, end of story.

Greninja (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Ice Beam
- Spikes
- Low Kick
- Gunk Shot

This set can hit both of them for super effective stab with ice beam and gunk respectively. You also have the surprise factor of not knowing whether or not it is ash gren or protean until its too late

Thundurus-Therian (M) @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Nasty Plot

Thundurus-T can come in on Landorus-T and without some ridiculous luck (double crit on knock off and getting the 5.5% roll) you can nasty plot and one hit ko both landorus and fini with thunderbolt and hp ice respectively.

Arctozolt @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Slush Rush
EVs: 204 Atk / 76 SpA / 228 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Blizzard
- Low Kick
- Substitute

In a shocking twist you can hit the correct STAB move and watch as both Lando and Fini drop. Realistically, the only way for them to beat the abomination is to repeatedly cycle Intimidate, but that can becircumvented with Substitute.

Reserving WU Zer

Zeraora @ Expert Belt
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 208 Atk / 108 SpA / 192 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Work Up
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Plasma Fists
- Close Combat
Cat comes in to threaten Tapu Fini. Cat clicks Work Up as the opponent switches to Landorus-T. Now Hidden Power [Ice] OHKOes Landorus-T and Tapu Fini gets 2HKO'ed by Plasma Fist after you prove that Electric Cat > Flying Lion.
+1 108 SpA Expert Belt Zeraora Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 422-499 (110.4 - 130.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
208 Atk Expert Belt Zeraora Plasma Fists vs. 248 HP / 128 Def Tapu Fini: 269-319 (78.4 - 93%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery (Fini is unable to OHKO you)

Submitting zard y
:ss/Charizard-Mega-Y:
Charizard-Mega-Y @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower / Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast / Scorching Sands
- Roost
Zard y completely obliterates this core, as it can come in on both Lando and fini, who cannot hurt it, and force them out with either the Fire move or Solar beam. Lando being the rocker also means that the Defog kart/corv that is paired with zard y can keep rocks off, letting zard y do maximum damage. Flame is more reliable, but fire blast can OHKO Lando frm full which flame cannot.

Baboom (Rillaboom)
:ss/Rillaboom:

Rillaboom @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Grassy Glide
- Wood Hammer
- U-turn
- Knock Off

Against those sets, Rillaboom just eats them for breakfast, it switches in on both Fini and Lando safely and since it's grass, it just bonks them. If you [somehow] don't believe it, eat calcs

252+ Atk Choice Band Rillaboom Wood Hammer vs. 248 HP / 128 Def Tapu Fini in Grassy Terrain: 644-762 (187.7 - 222.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
(and because it can happen)
252+ Atk Choice Band burned Rillaboom Wood Hammer vs. 248 HP / 128 Def Tapu Fini in Grassy Terrain: 322-381 (93.8 - 111%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Rillaboom Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 212+ Def Landorus-Therian in Grassy Terrain: 325-384 (85 - 100.5%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
(but) 0 Atk Landorus-Therian U-turn vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Rillaboom: 152-180 (44.5 - 52.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery
(and) 252+ Atk Choice Band burned Rillaboom Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 212+ Def Landorus-Therian in Grassy Terrain: 162-192 (42.4 - 50.2%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO

(If band gets knocked)
252+ Atk Rillaboom Wood Hammer vs. 248 HP / 128 Def Tapu Fini: 332-392 (96.7 - 114.2%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Rillaboom Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 212+ Def Landorus-Therian: 168-198 (43.9 - 51.8%) -- 10.9% chance to 2HKO

As you see, burned or not, it easily kills both of them, even if its band gets knocked it will still do a lot, Rillaboom is a monster, using it is extremely fun, fighting it is.....

Ye that was my submission [edit of edit: I figured out how to add models]

karnta (Kartana)
:SM/Kartana:
Kartana @ Grassium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Sacred Sword
- Knock Off

Grassium tears through both of those sets. As long as you grassium one of them, the other will die, if you grassium fini then you get to SD on lando, if you grassium lando (for some reason like a switch from fini), you can SD on it and win anyway.

Here are some calcs
252 Atk Kartana Bloom Doom (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 212+ Def Landorus-Therian: 294-346 (76.9 - 90.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 Atk Kartana Bloom Doom (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 212+ Def Landorus-Therian: 441-519 (115.4 - 135.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
-1 252 Atk Kartana Bloom Doom (175 BP) vs. 248 HP / 128 Def Tapu Fini: 390-458 (113.7 - 133.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252 Atk Kartana Leaf Blade vs. 248 HP / 128 Def Tapu Fini: 450-530 (131.1 - 154.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Tapu Koko @ Choice Specs
Ability: Electric Surge
Hidden Power: Ice
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Volt Switch
- Dazzling Gleam

It just outspeeds and OHKOes both of them after rocks damage, as well as being a great pivot overall.

Congratulations to Fun89 for winning our first week of Break this Core!

Our next core will be Mega-Scizor + Gliscor.

Submissions will be up until next Friday on December 10th at 11:59 PM GMT. Good Luck!

:sm/scizor-mega: :sm/gliscor:
Scizor-Mega @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 240 SpD
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 52 Def / 192 SpD / 20 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Facade
- Swords Dance
- Roost

A mon I've learned to love during the past few weeks is this:

Heatran @ Steelium Z/Firium Z
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Steel Beam/Flash Cannon/Stealth Rock
- Toxic/Taunt/Stealth Rock

With a timid nature, heatran is now able to outspeed 20+ Spe Gliscor and 2hko it with Magma Storm

252 SpA Heatran Magma Storm vs. 244 HP / 192 SpD Gliscor: 165-195 (46.8 - 55.3%) -- 71.1% chance to 2HKO after Poison Heal and trapping damage (This of course becomes a guaranteed 2hko after rocks or if poison heal wasnt active yet)

Or even just delete it with a raw Z since we now outspeed it anyway

252 SpA Heatran Corkscrew Crash (200 BP) vs. 244 HP / 192 SpD Gliscor: 330-388 (93.7 - 110.2%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO (Again, OHKO if rocks are up)

While of course Heatran is known as a very good sciz answer thanks to typing alone.

The set also has some nice upsides if running steelium, such as eliminating fini after magma chip with z without getting chipped since it now outspeeds 192 Spe fini too

the mon im bringing is heavy duty boots Volcanion
Volcanion @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 152 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpA / 96 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Steam Eruption
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Bomb
- Earth Power

This set ohko's gliscor and scizor with its two stab. It has enough speed to outrun scizor and enough bulk to not even die to a crit glis earthquake
