[SET]
Desolate Land (Landorus) (M) @ Life Orb / Leftovers
Ability: Desolate Land
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Earth Power / Sandsear Storm
- Weather Ball
- Grass Knot / Stealth Rock
[SET COMMENTS]
Landorus is a good wallbreaker, taking advantage of Desolate Land's Water-type protection, Weather Ball's type synergy, and its Ground-type STAB moves to blast through Pokemon such as Corviknight, Iron Moth, and Gholdengo. Earth Power is used for its consistency, while Sandsear Storm provides higher power, allowing it to have a chance to OHKO Jirachi and Pixilate Scream Tail after a Nasty Plot; additionally, Sandsear Storm has the ability to burn foes, which can help if it doesn't take the KO. Grass Knot helps Landorus take on bulky Ground-types such as Swampert and Great Tusk, while Stealth Rock lets Landorus support its teammates, weaken its own checks like Primarina and non-Heavy-Duty Boots Dragonite, and threaten common entry hazard removal options such as Corviknight and the aforementioned Great Tusk. Using Leftovers lets Landorus stay on the field longer, while Life Orb lets it OHKO Swampert and 2HKO Primarina with a +2 Grass Knot. Pokemon like Iron Moth, Azelf, and Deoxys-S appreciate Landorus for being able to take on checks like Swampert, Empoleon, and Iron Treads. Landorus struggles to deal with Pokemon that aren't weak to its moves like Manaphy, Blissey, and RegenVest Roaring Moon, so having teammates like Latios, Great Tusk, and Iron Hands will help with taking them down. Similarly, Landorus enjoys having teammates that can remove items with Knock Off such as Roaring Moon, Manaphy, and Azelf, helping it to break down RegenVest Pokemon like Meloetta and Manaphy as well as Pokemon with Heavy-Duty Boots like Dragonite and Mandibuzz. Landorus struggles to switch in on many Pokemon due to its frailty, so it appreciates slow pivots such as Corviknight and Primarina, which also help it by checking offensive Pokemon like Roaring Moon, Iron Boulder, and Walking Wake.
