I don't think that hypocrisy is necessarily just betraying what you believe, but is contingent on how much you profess to believe in it. Take the example given. With the circumstances described, there is no hypocrisy (or probably none) being committed because I doubt the subject was going around...

This seems to be the epitome of slapping six standards together and calling it a team. I see no threat checklist. The fact that you think you could swap out Gyarados or Salamence for Tyranitar means that you didn't give this a whole lot of thought. You should probably prepare to be chastised.
